It's a fine place but a strange xenophobia exists. Not manly, in my view, just strange. (I was once challenged to a fight for no reason, which I ignored.) Guess I have a high voice. Can't think of another reason. Basically, the pub is a throw back to the 1970s. No problem, I was born in 1955, & refuse to be intimidated. However, as I walk in, order, & sit by the great fire, I don't expect strange looks & comments just out of sight. Pubs must be inclusive. Hence this review. Otherwise, no problem Great setting & good value for money.

I've only been in The Hunters a few times, and my last visit was pre-Covid. I'm glad to see it re-opening. We called in at 8.30 on Friday night and stayed for a few drinks. Only a few customers in at what seems to me to be prime drinking time, but, you have to drive here and it isn't a food place. I had Chinook from Goose Eye brewery, well kept and they offered at least 6 proper ales so they must be busy at other times to keep the beer this well. Friendly service, good music, there's a pool table as well for entertainment.

The hotel is lovely with friendly staff. We stayed in the Trentishoe room with a four post bed and en-suite bathroom with a shower cubicle as well as a roll-top, claw-footed bath that overlooks the garden. The hotel is situated in a fantastic location and we would happily visit both the hotel and surrounding area again.

Gem of a pub. Don’t get to go nearly as often as we’d like. Fantastic range of beers for those that love ale. All well kept and served. Great little room behind the pool table that has an old pinball machine in it. Roaring fire on the cooler days. Very friendly staff. Dog friendly. Had a gin special on last time we were there too. Interesting selection, not just your standards. Large gin with a fever tree tonic for £5- bargain!! Definitely recommend.

Called here yesterday dinner time to meet up with family. Originally arranged at another pub but it was closed so we’d ended up here at the Hunters Inn. The Bar staff were very welcoming, there was a roaring open fire which was lovely and warm. We decided to have lunch so 5 hot roast sandwiches and I had a full Sunday lunch. Everyone really enjoyed there meal and I would definitely visit again.

Hello there. If you like a good pint of beer there are about 6 different ales on with 3 lagers and cider as well. The best reason to call in is the magnificent views to be had, especially now autumn is here. By the way the food is lovely and good value. The Rogan josh takeaway on a Saturday evening is better than any thing else in my humble opinion... Regards Neil Duncan

Passing through the area we came across this rather nice country pub. They served food and it had a car park so what could possibly go wrong. When we entered the locals turned around and looked at us as we were from another planet, think they don't like passing trade ! Anyway the lady behind the bar looked very unwelcoming not even a smile. Again we decided it looked ok in general. We sat in the corner and noticed there was lots of fly's so thought we would move to the other end of the pub. We took a look at the menu and prices were very reasonable. The selection included a traditional roast, lasagna, chilli con carne, amongst others but menu selection was decent enough. When we came to order at bar the lady again was rather despondent and it did seem to get to me a bit considering we are paying to have our lunch here at least make an effort but alas it was to much to ask. At this time we were beginning to have second thoughts but we had placed our order and payed. We looked up and another batch of ittitating fly's were above us. It seemed the place was infested with fly's and it was very off putting. The meals arrived and OMG they were large portions, they looked lovely, they tasted divine and well cooked, well presented and served to us by a phillapino lady. We couldn't fault the food so in this respect the rating has to be average sadly as the fly's badly let this place down. We all felt just appalled at the state of the toilets they were dispicable like they have never been cleaned in years, cobwebs everywhere spiders snails crawling around the window just grotty. It's a real shame as the place has fantastic potential they just need to clean and refurbish the toilets, get rid of the fly infestation by placing some fly repellent devices around and have welcoming staff as the food is just fantastic. Would I eat here again if I were passing through ? Well sadly not simply because the place is grotty and even though the food is lovely and cheap I feel I need cleanliness as this goes a long way.

This could be (was) a great pub. Here are 10 things that would get it back on form: 1. Stop selling beer like Green King IPA. It is undrinkable and why cart beer from down south to North Yorkshire. Pointless and contemptuous2. Sell at least a couple of good wine choices. Wine coming from a Stowells of Chelsea pump is just appalling3. Tidy up the loos. They are grotty, grotty, grotty4. Reinstate the beer blackboard. It is nice to know a bit about the choices 5. Always make the beer choice a variety: three of four of the beers are often similar styles6. Get the temperature right: on a warm day its a turn off if the beer is soupy7. Keg can be good: to add some variety to the beer selection nothing wrong with some interesting craft kegs8. Get social! why not tweet when you set on a new interesting beer - I know loads of people who would come to try9. Sort out food offer: something simple would be good (you're not competing with White Hart or Square and Compass) but whatever it is you need to stick to it10. Keep going! this could be a great pub again

It had been a while since I'd been in and difficult to remember what had been refurbished. .it's still got an unexciting interior......and the range of beers too was unexciting. There was no more than half a dozen people in....for a place of its size that's very empty and doesn't encourage you to want to stay for another drink 2

This used to be a great pub - known for an extensive, interesting and ever-changing range of well-kept cask beer, but it had been run down in recent years and in disrepair so I was looking forward to visiting the newly "refurbished" Hunters. Sadly the new owners have significantly reduced the range of beers (what the pub was known for) and even the small selection on my visit were the boring choices like Leeds Pale that you can get anywhere these days - a trip to the Hunters used to be all about discovering something really interesting on the blackboard. Arguably the smaller selection should allow the beer to be better kept but, at least on my sampling, the quality was indifferent. Neither have the new owners addressed the grotty loos - a long standing complaint of many regulars. Early days yet but a disappointing start

On Friday5th December 2014 after 6 of us had completed a decent country length walk in the near locality we decided to visit the Hunters Inn for a couple of beers and some food. It was lunchtime. When we entered there was no one behind the bar. 2 ladies were sat in the corner eating;. a couple of men late came in from outside where they had been having a fag to refresh their drinks. Still no one appeared. Seeing someone in the kitchen one of our walkers popped his head around the door and asked if anyone was serving and it food was still "on". We were told food was on. Still we waited. Then a man whom we presumed to be the Landlord came in and went behind the bar. He took out order of 6 pints of beer and as he puled the first, one of our group sought confirmation that there was food available. In a gruff almost angry voice he replied "There is no food!" We all looked at each other and one asked the rest of us" Are we just having this one (pint) then and going somewhere else for something to eat?"On hearing this the Landlord said, "Oh well if your not stopping" and proceeded to pour an almost fully filled pint of beer away. We were gobsmacked!" we're not stopping NOW!" was the unanimous reply. The Hunters Inn has been deleted from out list of eateries. So we went ate are in the lovely White Heart at Poole. Why, when people basically say " we want to spend money in your establishment" are manners like that seen? Basil Fawlty is alive and well at Huby!

We had quite a wait for our food & were told twice it wont be long. The veg came out in bowls first & was steaming hot then followed the roasts on plates. The beef was very thick but was still quite pink & bloody but only on one side like it had been pan fried. The yorkshires were rock hard & dried out & the roast potatoes were black and also dried out. When we asked if they could change them we were told sorry there were no more left. The staff were accommodating though when we asked for stake knives to be able to cut the yorkshires, roasted potatoes & beef !We leaft so much of our lunches as the only parts we could eat were the veggies. We will not be returning here

I am now losing faith in Wetherspoons as the value for money place to eat, we came here last Wednesday, three adults and two children for our tea time treat as a family but I am sorry to say that, and speaking personally for my meal alone, which was the small mixed grill, the peas were cold, the chips were warm and one of the pieces of meat in the mixed grill which I believe was supposed to be beef was also cold and almost impossible to chew. Time was when we never had a bad word to say about this chain of pub eateries but since Covid, the only road they are travelling is downwards. Won't be rushing back.

We recently stopped at Wetherby Drive Thru and were refused service as we had a dog with us. We all know that Costa have recently changed their policies and allow dogs in most coffee shops. Despite sharing the specific branch amenities stating dogs allowed the staff were totally inflexible. Staff should be fully aware of company policies and Costa should update door posters at the same point in time with such changes to avoid ambiguity. Finally staff should not hide behind the fact they are a franchise, branches branded as Costa have identical look and feel and follow same policies otherwise there are inconsistencies which lead to poor customer service and satisfaction.
