Me, my mother in law and my daughter had an absolutely amazing Carvery at The Hop Pole today. A huge portion of lovely food for a great price! We followed up lunch with a few drinks in the beer garden where my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the bouncy castle that they have at the top of the garden. Despite the issues with a burst water main early this morning meaning no running water in Yalding, Nettlestead & surrounding areas, the staff were so efficient with ensuring the pub had plenty of bottled water. And the Carvery was still one of the best I’ve ever had. Everyone was so welcoming and the pub has an amazing atmosphere to it. Would definitely recommend to family & friends! In fact we’ve booked in another table for next Sunday’s Carvery! Thank you to the entire team at The Hop Pole😊

What a dump was so embarrassed took my family for lunch, sat in the garden recommended by landlord amongst weeds, garden tools and piled up broken table and benches. The staff serving Cauvery didn’t appear to follow hygiene protocol ie gloves hairnet etc and we’re still trying to work out what they they plated up for me as a roast potato.

Visited this pub today . It was one of the best carvery’s I have had in a long time ( just like home made) The only disappointment was the dessert menu which only had four items on the menu and two of them were not available. But overall a very nice pub for a Sunday carvery.

Tatty, soulless interior. Inexperienced young staff with no adult in evidence to help them. No real ale, unheard of in this area. Didn't know how to pull a pint so had a glass of froth. Southern Comfort optic jammed through lack of use. Tried for a Jack Daniels instead but bottle empty & no further supplies! Waited 5 minutes for them to find plates at the carvery. Tasteless, rubbery turkey. Awful cauli cheese & what appeared to be crushed roast potatoes. This awful food cost £29.90 for two!!!

We stumbled on this pub when we got a bit lost driving around looking for somewhere to eat after being out all day. What a lucky find. We had the Carvery. Food wasn’t piping hot but they were getting ready to pack things up as was getting on for 5. They bought us out fresh gravy which was piping hot . Staff were very friendly and helpful especially owner. Selection of meats and big selection of vegetables . Very generous with portions. Both my husband and I enjoyed the food and would definitely go back.

Very friendly new owners trying to turn the pub's reputation around and doing a good job. Food was very good with very generous portions. I had the King Prawn Liguinini and have never been served a dish with so many prawns in it. My companion had the Fish and Chips. The fish was very fresh and a large portion with very good chips. The Pear Crumble which we both had was a delicious change from the tradional apple crumble. I recommend a visit.

I hadn't realised that some restaurants labelled 'carvery' don't allow unlimited servings of meats. I remember the occasion as having an excellent sunday roast lunch among friends for double birthdays celebrations. BUT have just heard that I committed the social faux pas of returning to the counter for extra meats...my recollection is that it was for the amazing crackling, and just a little pork and gravy - to marry up with the good varied selection of vegetable still to be eaten that were remaining from my first serving. The chef/staff at the counter was pleasant about refilling my plate: the criticism has come from among my friends who regularly do eat there. I wish that observation had been explained at the time that only some carveries offer unlimited servings (fine for the veg apparently)…. It was my FIRST visit - I had contemplated taking my family of carnivores there for my future birthday meal - now perhaps not. ps female, senior, size 12-14 average appetite,

Driven past this place for the past 16 years, finally called in this week for lunch. The poster of the wall for home made pies was tempting so I ordered the beef in red wine with mash and veg. It was awful and clearly microwaved. The beef was tough and chewy. The pastry soggy like wet cotton wool. One side of the plate of food was lovely and warm, the other cool. So I was certain it had been microwaved. Pastry should be crisp. Didn't eat it, just decided I won't be going back.

The warmth of the welcome I received from staff at The Hop Pole Inn humbled me. Thanks for showing me round the pub.The inside of the pub doesn’t retain its original character, which is a shame. It is though decorated in interesting maps and stories. This free house offers traditional British dishes and I can happily report they are made with a modicum of care. That is all I can ask of any pub meal. The main course, the cod, was really flavoursome, the creamy sauce made it shine.Prices are bang on. The Hop Pole Inn also over a carvery for those bigger eaters out there. This is ready around 18:30.There is a lovely garden out back, which unfortunately I couldn’t appreciate given the British weather that day. There’s also a man/woman cave out back that has is furnished with sofas, TV and a pool table .

Quite disappointing really - Specified restaurant area with no table service, felt very ignored & repeatedly had to prompt the staff for action etc. Whilst eating, the staff allowed a huge dog into the restaurant, the height of the tables, put its face to plates of food from which we were eating & no action / addressing of issue from any of the staff. Most unhygienic, inconsiderate, & a very potential breach of hygiene / health & safely obligations.

We pop in here once every month or so.Staff are nice & friendly & always remember us.Whether you go for the carvery or the a la carte, the food is always nicely presented & good old-fashioned home cooked. The pies are home made & sizable portions, the Gammon looks like it's actually from a pig (rather than those horrible plastic things you get in the brewers fayre down the road), & the garlic prawns salad is huge!I particularly appreciate the way they do the carvery - as it's a small set up they cook plenty of veg but in proportionate batches to the numbers eating. This means that the food is always nice and fresh (rather than sitting smoldering in a luke warm bain-marie for hours whilst the life & colour is drained out of everything!)The chef carves generous portions of the meat & there is always a yummy cauliflower cheese as well as several choices of veg & all the roast trimmings you would expect

Lots of choice with an old-fashioned and new cuisine menu. There was something for everyone. Well done to the chef and staff upholding the generosity of the Stevens family.

Just had a light lunch at The Hop Pole. Roast Beef and horseradish baguette. The freshly baked baguette was filled with succulent beef that was cooked just right and melted in the mouth, but the most amazing thing was the chip garnish........... WOW I have never tasted chips as nice. The restaurant was packed for the carvery and when I say packed there was not a free seat, as people were leaving you could see how much they had enjoyed. The service by the bar staff was great. Well done.

The Hop Pole has changed hands many times over the past few years with varying results. However the present Hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming,. My Spanish style chicken was beautifully cooked but five vegetables (green & red cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli & carrots) plus potatoes served on the plate was not very appetising. it would be far better If these were either served in a separate dish or the options mentioned when orders taken which would avoid unnecessary waste . The vegetables were not 'al dente' just undercooked. The garden does need some TLC but it was very pleasant sitting outside under an umbrella and making friends with the resident dog! I have no complaint about the desserts which looked & tasted delicious. I will go back again sometime

Visited here recently with a group of people (10), all of whom had pre-ordered our menu choices. Our table was booked for 1 pm. but starters (mostly cold) weren't brought to us until well after 2 pm. and only after staff were chased up. It wasn't as though the place was very busy with only a few other diners, but it was as though we had been entirely forgotten, sitting in the conservatory! Perhaps more attention was being given to 'regulars' or 'drinkers' at the bar, but certainly attention at our table was virtually non existent. We saw three members of staff only, one of whom was both bar attendant and waitress, and at times there seemed to be no staff about at all - it was like the Marie Celeste! Starters were finished but our plates were left sitting in front of us for a very long time. We again chased staff for our main meals. Several of our group were having the carvery but there was no staff member present to carve the meat, and we could hardly help ourselves! As a result of the interminably long wait for service of our main meals, the carvery meat and vegetables were barely warm! Perhaps they should have organised more staff knowing our group were booked in, but at no point did anyone come and explain the reason, or offer an apology, for the long delay and poor service which just added to our annoyance. When all the mains had eventually been served, we asked why the delay and were told that "the food is all freshly cooked". That may be the case for those who ordered something other than the carvery, but the carvery offering we found very poor, with vegetables not being kept hot. I've eaten here many times before and have always enjoyed the experience and the food. I have to say this was absolutely the worst service I have every received, and as a result I won't hurry back. I hope it improves soon as it would be a shame to discount it in future due to this one very bad experience!

I had struggled to find a place for a last minute group booking on Father's Day but Kirsty very kindly squeezed us in. The pub itself is in a very pretty village so good for walkers or visitors to the Hop Farm. The carvery was delicious with very generous meat portions, the veg was freshly cooked and tasty. We ate in the conservatory at the back which was quite hot but they had a couple of fans running which helped to keep the air moving. The staff were friendly and attentive. Lovely lunch, will definitely visit again soon!

Allegedly just the carvery on offer on the Sunday. Fine for most of us - though think of us was hoping to have the lasagne he usually does. We'd just got back to our seats when a lasagne was being served to someone on the table behind us. Didn't challenge as I really enjoyed the carvery - and the staff were fine about another of our party having kids portions for mains AND dessert. Perhaps the lasagne had been ordered in advance - or the 'orderer' vegetarian?Good choice of both meat and veg in the carvery - including cracking, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese. Desserts looked good too. Pleasant staff and dog - though he/she seems over fond of chewing furniture!

Visited Saturday 23rd May. Drove passed here a thousand times but decided to give it a try instead of the usual, large chain restaurants. Nice, selection of food. Main meals were great. Staff were attentive. Price average. Added bonus of a pub dog.

Visited with 16 family members and a baby for Sunday carvery.Sat in hot conservatory which made uncomfortable eating, some windows were unable to be opened.Charged for two extra sweets that we knew we hadn't had and despite pointing this matter out at least twice to the bar/pub owner/manageress she would not agree and we didn't like her attitude. The sweet order taken was disorganised two different people took orders and we are sure that we had been charged for sweets the large table next to us had ordered.Pub suited to locals as it was full of folk in track suits/ hoodies, didn't find it over friendly. Will not be returning and wouldl not recommend.

I booked a table in this pub thinking it was as pretty inside as it looked outside. Unfortunately its not, the pub looks dated and is very tired. However the restaurant was tidy and clean. I saw three members of staff, the bartender, the chef and a blonde waitress, the carvery table looked at though it had seen better days and looked at though it was a "made do" table. the food was a tad dry and the meat was dry. such as shame as the pub looked so nice from the outside. I has sticky toffee pudding for afters unfortunately it wasn't light n fluffy sponge but a heavy microwave type stodge.

We took my mum to Yeoman for a belated birthday lunch. Vini the Manager made us feel so welcome as soon as we entered the restaurant. Our order was taken by Kelly. She was lovely and friendly and so polite. The food was exquisite!!!. Beautifully presented, and so delicious. We were so looked after. The best meal we have had out in a very long time. Such a varied menu. We will be going back again and again. Thank you Vini and Kelly for making us feel so welcome. If we could give you 20 stars we would. Natalie, Craig and Georgia. Xx♥️💗❤️
