Having been twice to eat at the Holy pundit at The Hythe Imperial which was a fantastic curry- the family were really looking forward to the Folkstone harbour venue. Firstly we were given menus only to find we had not the same menus & was told lamb was also off the menu -- this was not the best start & set out how the evening was to progress. popadoms were ok but pickles were very small portions & had to order another batch. starters were all ok but again small portions. Chicken jalfrezi was delicious, but once again missing lots of vegetables and the Dal was thin and liquidly, nothing like a dal we've had before. mains once again very small - tikki masala was the star - my king prawn buna was a disappointment 4 number prawns & not greatest taste . Overall very small portions & overpriced for what you get! The Holy Pundit seems to have lost its way a bit, wish i had stuck with my usual curry house the KOYLA at Mersham .

The best Indian food ever. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious, with some different dishes to your everyday Indian. The staff and chef were lovely giving us some things to try in-between courses. A great find and will definitely be back.

We had eaten in the past at The Holy Pundit at the old venue. Tonight we really fancied a curry and decided to give it a go at the new venue in the Mariners, near the harbour. The ambiance could be a little more inviting. Some might be put off at how basic it is in terms of decor. A simple tweak like table clothes and proper napkins would lift it! A few candles around. That said the food was superb. The staff welcoming and helpful. The quality of the food is by far the best Indian locally. The bill was not daft either which made a welcome change. If you are local or just visiting and want a great Indian meal, but are not bothered by plush decor then give this a try. We were very pleasantly surprised and will definitely return. No need to travel for a sit down curry anymore! We have one right here on our doorstep! Thank you for your hospitality. :) x

We ate here tonight in a last minute booking. Food is so good! This is a cut above your usual Indian restaurant. It’s an unassuming location above The Mariners pub but don’t let that fool you. I can seriously recommend the chicken jalfrezi & vegetable masala, amazing flavours. Staff super friendly & helpful. A return visit is definitely on the cards.

Food was beautiful, nice sized portions. A set menu gave us lots of things to try, plenty of flavour and spices. The waiter/bar man was very attentive between serving punters and food eaters.

Great food, friendly and efficient service, one of the best Indian meals I have had in a long time. The lamb starter was so tender, and the food so well spiced. I enjoyed every mouthful.

We have recently moved to Folkestone and were looking for an Indian restaurant. . We saw the excellent reviews of the Holy Pundit on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try. It is situated in the Mariner pub right on the harbour side. We decided to eat from the set menu (£38 for 2). Absolutely superb. Beautifully presented, very tasty and good portion sizes. We really enjoyed all the courses. We loved the fact that there were different choices from the usual types. The potato and mint cakes to start were yummy and the soup of tomato and jaggery was delicious and had a nice kick of spice. . Chicken jalfrezi and lamb bhuna were tasty, the lamb just melted it was so well cooked. Rahoul is a great host and made us feel very welcome. This was our first visit but we know it will become our regular for an Indian meal. If you are visiting the area, or live locally, give the Holy Pundit a try... Excellent.

I had been very much looking forward to eating here at their new premises in the Mariner Pub in the Stade. The same team used to work at Coppers in Hythe, and then the Holy Pundit at the Hythe Imperial, but were without a new premises until very recently. It was always the best Indian food, coupled with fantastic local produce, and last night’s fayre certainly didn’t disappoint. The local Romney Marsh lamb was delicious, and all the spices could be tasted - not just merging into each other which is common in Indian restaurants. They have brought over 2 new members to their team - but chefs from high-end establishments in India. This is up there with the very very best Indian restaurants, not only in taste, but in presentation and service. Highly recommend.

What an evening! Great service, amazing food and a reasonable price 😊 The chef came out a few times to check in as to how our meal was. We’ve eaten a lot of Indian food over the years and this was the best! No standard flavours like you get elsewhere, this was something else! Will 100 % be back

Such lovely food yet the service let you down. The lamb was cooked well and fell apart. Naan bread thin, crispy and tasty. Great flavours all round, Sadly we seemed to have been overlooked during our dining. We were offered one drink in the 1 hour and 45 minutes we sat in the restaurant. We also didn’t receive the chef’s complimentary amuse bouches, despite seeing other tables having them. We weren’t offered dessert or coffees either. Upon payment of the bill we did mention the service to the waiter, he said they were understaffed. Such a shame!

Take away client. Chicken Shashlick is my go to. Kiln cooked & not in a high calorie sauce. In 20 years Dabbas really is the best I've ever had & its consistent. The chicken is cooked absolutely perfectly, soft & juicy when it can be over cooked so esily. All the sundries, rice, saag pander & salads all equally fresh & tasty. Delivery is also pretty quick. Cannot fault Dabbas food & service.

Enjoyable from the start this quiet Indian restaurant has some excellent food. We had the Thali which comprises of three courses, served in small dishes. Truly different and very tasty. They have a novel selection of non alcoholic drinks that they make up. Quite honestly more than each of us could eat. A foodie delight. The only down side were people that came in from the street to use the toiler and some noise from the bar next door.

I had never been to this place before and only stumbled across it due to them giving away furniture. So I messaged the ad on Facebook and asked if what I was after was still available and was told to go down between 9am and 12pm. Which I did. I got there for 9am. The manager/owner wasn't in yet and after the staff called him, I was told he would be there in 5 minutes. The staff were lovely and offered me a drink while I was waiting. After half an hour and a few phone calls from the staff, he finally arrives. I explained again what I was there for and was actually laughed at. After a bit of discussion, he told me to take the chair and pointed to one next to a main eating his breakfast (I'm so sorry if that man is reading this). The whole cafe was looking at me at this point. I was then left to try and get the chair through the doors without help. Honestly, one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. I was made to feel so small just from responding to a Facebook ad... I can honestly say I will never be returning to this place to put money in that man's pocket. Such a rude person! If I hadn't been made to wait half an hour I think I would have just walked out without the chair. If the manager/owner reads this. Maybe make it clear what your ad is advertising and try being on time when you give a time to someone else. Your manners could do with improving too!
