The coffee was lovely. The staff were lovely, but in this day and age skinny milk should be offered let’s face it even if they waste some of it a 4 pinter won’t cost them much. Both myself and my sister wanted skinny milk only semi skimmed was offered. It’s like going back in time. we really liked it here, but I don’t understand why more choices of milk weren’t offered.

We are a family group of 4 adults, and have visited many times whilst on holiday, and on every occasion we were very pleased with both the food and the service we were given, pleasant and accommodating staff at all times. Covid times hit hard and closed down the Courtyard. In 2021, we visited twice in that year, it was closed or had door vandalized. Now coming to our recent visit this year in September, hooray it was open. We sat down, looked at the menu, inflation had hit the prices, but not a problem, as we were used to their food and service we ordered and looked forward to our meals How disappointing was the small portion of food we received, poor feeble excuses for why our food took so long, people arriving after us got served first. Our order did not come out as what was written on the menu, which resulted in another feeble excuse from a member of staff. The place was looking a bit of a dump to how remembered it before. This was an establishment worthy of its past great reputation. It has been regretful that I have made this review, it is a sad shame. I know that a lot may disagree with my review, but maybe they got a better service.

The people and the food here are really friendly and the place is clean and welcoming, but we waited over half an hour for a sandwich and soup.If you are working and on a lunch break or you have limited time in the car park then this may not be the place for you. However, if you have plenty of time and you don't mid waiting then the food here is really good.

Popped in with an old friend for lunch. I had a lovely steak and mushroom home made proper pie with chips beans and gravy. All wash down with a mug of tea all for around a tenner! We sat in the courtyard itself which was lovely. So were the staff! Will pop in again soon.

We have been here several times and food was lovely. Last weekend things seemed to have gone downhill. Sauces are now from Aldi, whereas before they were Heinz. we had a panini and a baguette. We only got half portions. Yes half a part baked baguette and half a panini. Fillings spilling over and my panini was pretty well over cooked. Folks in kitchen seemed too busy chatting so we waited a while. past visits were during weekdays and were better. Sadly feels similar to other places in town where standards drop in tourist season. We are locals. We left very disappointed.

The café is divided into three sections: outdoor (the courtyard), the conservatory and a small area away from the sunlight (it is always sunny in P-town!). The menu has a selection of hot and cold meals, sandwiches, cakes, desserts, coffees, speciality teas, smoothies (probably the most comprehensive food menu in the town - something for everyone!). The staff are really friendly, warm, welcoming and caring. A joy! Always look at the "specials board" as there are often some really good eats at bargain prices.

Always call in for a coffee but decided to have a cooked breakfast as well. Great idea and a lovely spread there was. My wife had the toast while I tucked in to egg bacon sausage beans fried bread and mushrooms. Well the fried bread (a slice of bread cut diagonally into two) was absolutely delicious. Nice cup of tea to wash it all down. A good start to the morning.

Recommendation that proved fantastic! Excellent specials. I had chicken in a brandy pepper and cream sauce with homemade chips and veg. All beautifully cooked and plentiful. My friend had a huge chilli dog with salad chips and coleslaw. Wonderful service from an elderly gent who clearly knew how to delight his customers.

After going into this cafe (on & off) for years, when my work allows time, I went in today with my Son for a belated Mothers Day Lunch. Really looking forward to it as have always enjoyed the food there. Well I should have known something wasn't right as the cafe was practically empty. Anyway ordered a ham & pineapple pinini. No table number was given to us so we had to ask when food came out if it was ours. When the food did arrive and I tried to cut the panini in half my knife nearly buckled! Turning the panini over I could see why... burned on the one side and was like cardboard. Called the waitress over, as I couldn't get out from our table, when I asked for another Panini she looked at me flabergasted. Anyway she took it and when she brought me a newly cooked, not burned, panini she gave me the plate, stared/glared at me, and said "is that better"?. I said I didn't know yet. Off she went. All I can say is it makes me wonder if it has changed hands: although the 'waitress' looked like one of the original staff. The other waitress was the only one who bothered to even say goodbye & thank you. Needless to say we will be giving that place a miss from now on. Shame.

I have been coming here since I was a child and everything is always very nice. A lot of the time however, it can be very loud inside as the staff put away the tea cups and plates. There seems to be a lot of crashing and banging going on. The food is lovely though, as is the service. The portions never disappoint. They're always sufficient for the price you pay. The only thing I am not too keen on is the fact that a lot of the sandwiches have far too much lettuce in. On the whole, this little cafe is lovely and I'll continue to visit as I have over the many years it has been open

Visited the Courtyard Cafe for lunch (we have now been quite a few times). Excellent friendly service every time, huge portions and brilliant value for money. They also welcome well behaved dogs which suits us perfectly so we can enjoy lunch in the warm with our furry family member, she also got a biscuit too (it's the little things which make an experience 10 times better). first of all I seemed to upset the lady serving by being so rude as to ask if they had nescafe coffee (I like to drink instant in the morning over filter) so I settled for tea as there is no nescafe option when the tea came it did not taste good (we use Typhoo at home 1 bag per mug) I wasnt enjoying my tea so asked what it was further upsetting the server who toold me to my surprise that it is in fact Typhoo tea being used and went away and returned with a 1150 bag Typhoo tea bags so I know its not the tea bags but perhaps as tea had been brewed in a stainless steel tea pot and served with a small cup maybe it was weaker than I am used to so I asked the by now visably angry server for another teabag to add to the pot her reply was "you can have one but we charge 20 pence for an extra tea bag (this makes her 1150 bag of Typhoo worth £230:00 unless you buy them at farm foods for £9:50 24.21 times cheaper) the issue here isnt price or even quality of what is offered but the vile response of the dark haired lady with glasses My wife liked this cafe and brought me here because through my work I often need to suggest cafes and restaurants in torbay that are worth visiting and ones that should be avoided I'm afraid the Courtyard falls into the latter there really is no need to pay to have someone be RUDE to you I dont want to go again and won't be recommending it

I ate here three times in the past week and only one meal was really good. The other two were very much below average. Everything is high priced compared to a lot of other restaurants in town in the main tourist areas. It is located in a side alley off the main street. The atmosphere is nice as you have a choice of eating inside the ordering area, under a glass covered porch, or outside under an umbrella. However, the food leaves a lot to be desired. I had a cottage pie that was about 98% potatoes. The pulled pork sandwich another time only had a few chunks of pork and was mostly cheese. They have a 5 star hygiene rating posted, but I found a hair in my peas. It seems the restaurant is favored by mostly locals but I would not consider this a hidden gem by any means, and definitely would not recommend it.

This little cafe is tucked away off an alley in Central Paignton. This morning I decided to visit for a cooked breakfast. I chose the £4.95 deal that comes with tea included. This is not just a cup but a proper tea pot with additional jug of hot water too! Also included was toast with butter portions and marmalade. The breakfast comes with fried bread too but I guess if you asked them they would switch that to regular toast they would. A good breakfast that was just a little let down by the poor "catering" quality sausage. A Lincolnshire style sausage from a local butcher would be far nice and memorable option. Yes, it would cost more and I understand you are doing it for a price but with a really yummy sausage like some places have people would appreciate the difference. The place was bright and clean - rated a "5" I noticed by the local council. The staff were attentive and friendly. I understand that the main meals options were truly "homemade" so a return visit will be on the horizon in the near future.

EXCELLENT COFFEE & BISCUIT WITH THE COFFEE, so nice we stayed for two cups!! Very dog friendly staff made lots of fuss of our dog as did other customers coming in making a fuss of him. TREATS AVAILABLE FOR DOGS TOO which was a lovely thought and deserving of business. BEING NEW TO THE AREA AND HAVING BEEN TURNED AWAY FROM OTHER NOT AS NICE CAFES NOT DOG FRIENDLY it was nice to find a genuine dog friendly cafe. There is a step into the cafe which makes it inaccessible for disabled people and unsure if there is a portable ramp, didnt see a sticker on window saying there is one available? Something that can be addressed and advertised on website by owner which would allow us to come back with other members of our family and Im sure bring in other customers/tourists looking for accessible cafes.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, with good choice of food. A group of 6 of us had a range of choices to eat, with wine and pretty good standard overall. Personally, I found the jerk chicken little more than a chargrilled chicken bread, with no authentic jerk heat, but with the rice etc, it was a nice meal. Just not what I had hoped. The other 5 were happy with there choices though, the salmon getting particular praise.
