So disappointed to find that the Cornish Bakery in Torquay has closed. Always enjoyed everything I had when I went in and their coffee and scones were by far the best in the town.

Went into Torquay this afternoon and sad to see Cornish Bakery closed and interior fittings ripped out. Hoping this is a refit rather than losing this lovely coffee shop/bakery. Best scones and delicious coffee and pasties.

Stopped for a quick coffee and cake fairly early on in the day; good coffee, decaff and standard, and reportedly a very nice carrot cake. Service cheerful and prompt. So good we went back at lunchtime, food all tasty and matched to the high expectations set in the morning. Thank you.

My favourite coffee in Torbay served here with delicious croissants and pastries 10/10. A must for all coffee addicts!

I love the Cornish bakery! Come here without fail every morning for my vanilla latte! Their coffees are honestly the best I’ve ever tasted and that’s coming from someone who hated coffee a few months ago. Jack and ally are so friendly would highly recommend for some great customer service.

We came we had coffee and cake and everything was perfect, and wonderfully fresh. Great staff who never stopped cleaning and serving, and always cheerful. Can't fault this little place and the staff are brilliant

Visited 6th Sep 20, Pro'sShop well laid out & prepared for Covid19 restrictions incl sanitizers at entrance;Staff pleasant;Con'sPurchased two traditional pasties, to take away, I thought pasties were expensive compared to other establishments;Pastry was good , but ingredients were lots of pepper & potatoes , and very minimal other vegetables or meat, of which the meat had all gathered together in one corner, but the worst was;Everything was Very dry, no moisture in the ingredients at all.I would have returned them to the shop but the car parking ticket was due to expire.

Gorgeous crisp pastry, fillings full of flavour. Coffee is gorgeous and my son absolutely loved his white hot chocolate! Cornish pudding is to die for, we are going to buy some more to take back up to yorkshire with us

I went into the Cornish bakery this week whilst on a shopping trip to Torquay. A young chap called Kane served me, honestly he was spectacular. I was curious about the coffee and he was able to talk me through the process of the coffee beans which I found fascinating! He took the time to explain it to me which I don’t think anyone else would’ve done. I then purchased a flat white and pasty (one f the best pasties ive ever had). I just wanted to praise Kane on his excellent customer service because he honestly made my day. If I’m ever back in Torquay again, I’ll go to The Cornish Bakery, he put a smile on my face.

Great staff, yummy pasties (especially the lamb and mint) and delicious pastries. Lovely place to relax and enjoy a refreshing cold /hot drink and tuck into the food.

called in here the day b4 we left to go home, it was the second week of january. driving rain & gale force winds where coming off the sea up fleet street . so we called in for a bite to eat & a warm drink, our party of 12.i was shocked at the 2 different prices on each item. it would appear that it is more expensive to buy something to take out and eat later, and cheaper to eat in. so we ate in due to the weather. the food was very good, and there was a wide range pastries and pie`s.but on reflection this may be breaking VAT regulations. that where introduced to eat in a cafe`s. we will not be coming back to this one.

Friendly staff and helpful service. Very worried about the toilet hygiene as there was no soap to wash your hands with and as the Coronavirus advice is to wash your hands well with soap and water we thought it showed lack of care. Also most of the cakes were not covered and open to germs being coughed on etc. Again we thought in today’s current problems with Coronavirus being an airborne virus this showed lack of care.

I have been coming here for years as the place makes a great place for a relaxing cup of tea and a good Cornish pasty. The food is good and the staff here clean what is a very difficult loo to clean beautifully. There is loads of difficult pipe work and the design is pretty crazy however I’ve noticed the standards of cleanliness are brilliant. This gives me complete faith in the whole establishment when so many bigger restaurant chains are let down by dirty Loos. Congratulations to the friendly staff here on working with such enthusiasm.

Having been walking around Totnes for a good period of time we needed a coffee. The Cornish Bakery was just the place and we bought a cornish pastry as well. Both tasted fantastic. Recommended.

Ordered the Vegan pasty and pot of tea. Pasty filling lovely but pastry round edges was rock hard and dry, I dont normally waste food but I did this time.

When I see a shop selling Cornish pasties I usually try to sample a ‘proper’ traditional Cornish pasty. Of course none will ever surpass my Grans home made ‘real’ Cornish pasties.The one I bought from this restaurant was sold as ‘traditional’. It was of good size, shape and had the promise of a well filled pasty. I chose to have my pasty as a takeaway. The staff were very helpful and polite and the restaurant area was clean and pleasant.As for the pasty.....Firstly the pastry was excellent. Crunchy and crumbly. The meat content was a little on the meagre side. Also not a lot of swede in there.Sadly the whole experience was marred by the overbearing seasoning of ‘hot’ pepper so beloved of pasty pretenders! I would really rather have the filling ingredients provide me with the flavour not the overbearing taste of the pepper.That said, I will return and give them this place another go.

Myself and a few friends visited the Cornish bakery for lunch yesterday, the scone display looked amazing and we just couldn’t resist they have 4 different types of scone and each looked delicious, we were greeted with a smile and hello from a blonde girl who i later got the name of from the receipt as Tat (hoping its not an error) everything was very friendly and efficient throughout the whole transaction and the food is just amazing, the whole team should be proud, I will definitely be back!

Always enjoy visiting here with friends and family. Usually go for the pasties but my new favourite is the mushroom rarebit. Warmed up with salad it's a bit usual but delicious! Always get a friendly welcome from Che and team

Originally wanted to go to Calypso but it was really busy. In comparison, even though town was heaving, this place had plenty of empty tables. The service was slow, and the staff didn’t seem very bothered about the quality of their service. The Brie and cranberry toastie had far too much cranberry and very little Brie, so it was barely edible. The tables are very small, so we had to stack everything on the chairs next to us. We won’t be back in a hurry.

We popped in for a quick snack and cup of coffee. The pastry on the Portuguese Tart was quite simply the best I have had. Fantastic baking - I wish we could have bought some of the bakery selection back to New Zealand.

Being Cornish & visiting England for a days outing we didn’t fancy a large lunch so we visited this cafe.

Had a good latte and a very tasty fruit pastry with flaked almonds on top. Very clean and bright. Pleasant staff. Very clean toilets. An excellent first visit, and look forward to going there again.

Wanted to have a nice coffee and a bite to eat. And while walking past I saw a gentleman giving some samples. He seemed very enthusiastic and welcoming. And came in shortly after and served me. It was excellent service, all the other staff seemed happy and friendly also. I will be making another trip to this bakery again, that's for sure! Many thanks to the boy in blue.

Went here a few days ago and was greeted by some lovely staff, very friendly and welcoming. Pasty’s tad over priced but I’d pay for the quality. Coffee is amazing better than costa/Starbucks. Recommend this place to all my friends and family.

We visited late afternoon and there wasn't much stock left which is understandable. We were asked whether we were eating in. When we replied yes we were told that she had cleaned the back tables and that we couldn't sit there or use the bathroom! Not the most welcoming start. I'm not going to comment much on the pasties as it was an hour or so before closing. They were fine if a bit dry. Might try again but there is a lot of pasty competition in town.

My friend and I regularly pop in for a cuppa and snack/cake and the staff are always so lovely - the food is excellent and it is just so nice to sit and have a nice cuppa and cake in pleasant surroundings. They work hard to keep it nice and always say Hi and Goodbye which I think makes you feel welcome and want to return. Well done to you all - you are a credit to the Cornish Bakery and Torbay XXXX

I visited the Cornish bakery on my lunch break and was surprised by the different variety of pasties and pastries they have on offer, the staff were very polite and helpful and the food was great, I will definitely be visiting here again.

Went to the Cornish bakery for the second time today because they have great staff and tasty food I was with my wife and 4 month old baby I went to go change my sons nappy and found there wasn’t a changing table so had to change him on the very cold floor of the men’s toilets hopefully I didn’t lay him in too much urine They desperately need a plastic fold down changing table in both male and female toilets until this happens I will not be returning.

I often visit the Cornish Bakery in my lunch breaks. The pasties there are very tasty & go down very well after my long shift. The staff are always super friendly & after so many visits, there is a real communal feel to the place. I’d recommend the place to anyone. Also, you gotta try the sour cherry & pistachio cake, melts in your mouth it does.

Came in for a strawberry shake and it was amazing!!! Danielle was really kind and did an amazing job! Would 100% recommend

4 of us visited yesterday and were very disappointed. We asked for recommendations on which pasties to purchase and were guided to “new pasties” pork and Apple and steak and Stilton, the pork and apple was completely tasteless and perhaps the worst pie I have ever had, the steak and Stilton was barely passable- dry and no taste of Stilton. We asked for salt to try and give them some flavour but was told they do not have salt but do have pepper and sauces would cost 20 p! Not recommended rather go to Oggy Oggy 20 meters away. We ate in and the table was sticky.

We enjoyed a traditional pasty, scones and brownies in this very clean establishment. Hot chocolate was lovely but a shame there wasn't the option of semi or skimmed milk. Lots of different pasties available, something for everyone.

We had a coffee and xmas scone which was delicious. Reasonable prices with friendly staff make this a good place to stop for a snack with food freshly baked on the premises. Good clean toilet facilities were a bonus.

I nipped in just to get something for my lunch and the welcoming off the staff was so kind. They where so welcoming. Danielle the assistant manager was outstanding in helping me chose something that’s suitable for me as I have dietary requirements. She gave me a wide range of choice and was extremely helpful! Lovely little bakery with lovely food and staff members will definitely be returning again.

Visited the Cornish Bakery In Torquay with my family and found the food outstanding. The quality food was only backed up by the friendly efficient service. We were escaping a rainy afternoon in Torquay and made an excellent choice to stop off there. Top marks to them.

A brave name for a Bakery in DEVON.But when the Pasties are as good as they are ,What else do you call the business.Had the large original [lots of other ingredients/flavours on offer] I coundn't finish all the crust was big enough to make a handle for the wife's handbag,The local Robins loved it as well.

We’re looking forward to visiting and having a genuine Cornish pasty what a disappointment we ordered the steak and Stilton pasties they were £4 each only just lukewarm there was lots of pastry before we got to the filling which was so dry and tasteless it was almost inedible I think it had been on a heated area most of the day.the upholstered chairs we sat on were full of food from previous customers,a dirty table that look as though it had never been wiped.

I visited the Cornish bakery around 12 O'clock today and was welcomed outside by a gentleman. And once I came into the bakery I was greeted by a young lady with glasses they was both very pleasant and welcoming. And I would most definitely come here again. Food was worth the price so was my coffee and the customer service was genuinely lovely.

I had a pastie and coffee, I tried a little bit of meat from the middle of the pastie and it tasted sour, I didn't like to say anything because I'd gone with friends and they had paid and it's not cheap in there, I was ill for a week after my visit with sickness and diarrhea and I'm sure it was the pastie, the one young man serving must have put his hands through his hair 20 times while he was talking to the other staff, I won't be eating there again

Visit here at least once a month but today was exceptional. I asked for a banana Milk shake and was told that were discontinuedbut the strawberry is amazing and it was!!The staff were friendly,helpful, fun and best of all no uncleared tables. Always worth a visit well done

The coffee is great, the scones and cream were so delicious best I’ve had in years and the staff were really pleasant and friendly. I would have given them five stars but they ran out of skinny milk... but I forgave them that as I was having clotted cream so I was not watching the calories.

A first time visit whilst visiting the area, and it wont be our last. We popped in for a quick lunch time bite. The place was bright, clean offering plenty of room to accommodate pushchairs and wheelchairs. We found the staff to be polite, friendy and helpful. We opted to try a beef and stilton and a BLC pastie from a good selection that were on offer, both pasties were of good size with plenty of filling and were very, very tasty. We also tried their coffee which tasted fantastic, and we can't wait to return again.

Came to the Cornish bakery to catch up with an old work colleague, we were served by friendly welcoming staff and the cafe was nice and clean. We enjoyed some scones which had just been baked! Along with exceptional coffees. The kids enjoyed their hot chocolates and croissants! Will definitely return!

We were looking for somewhere to have a coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. All along Fleet Street there are coffee shops, I've tried most of them but none particularly stand out. I hadn't tried the Cornish Bakery so we thought we'd give it a go. I love coffee and I take it black with no sugar so there is no masking poor coffee for me. I had an Americano with an extra shot. I probably didn't need the extra shot as the Americano comes in a small cup. That is not a criticism, I have learned that an excellent small cup of coffee will outshine any large second rate one. It was excellent! My son had a hot chocolate and his girlfriend, a white hot chocolate. They were very impressed and said they were delicious. My son works down the road at an establishment that sells hot chocolate but he said he would pop in here before work to get a takeaway hot chocolate to take to work. I had a bacon, cheese, tomato and pickle toastie, it was lovely. My son and his girlfriend had sausage rolls and pastries and were very happy. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. The shop was clean and there was plenty of room for mums with pushchairs and I think I glimpsed a highchair. Toilets were very clean with hot water, soap and paper towels. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

Went in for a drink whilst visiting Torquay,and was served by a very friendly girl called Casey, even tho she didn't look to well, she had a friendly smile and gave great service, the place was very clean and bright, and a great place to have a break from the shopping

I have visited this store before and was very happy to see my favorite waitress Casey still working there. She was friendly and bubbly as always and was clearly working well with the blonde haired female colleague.

We ate lunch here a couple of times, returning because the pasties were so tasty! The traditional pasty was full of meat which was succulent with not a speck of fat, and the pastry on all pasties we chose was just right. Only wish we had a branch nearer home !

Nice pasty, just a shame about the cleaness of the place. Crap all over the floor, went to use the toilets passed the pot scrubbing area it looked disgusting. We visited here to have a light lunch and the bloke serving as well as the pink haired girl were miserable! I'm putting it down to the rush but it doesn't excuse it. Food and drinks were good. Alot of variety for vegetarians too.

I went in to buy a cheese croissant before work. The guy who served me rammed his hand into the little croissant bag … must have been up to five times, completely ignoring hygiene non-touch methods while handling money and equipment. His mannerism was so vicious that I walked out and let them steal my money. It ruined my day. I've spoken to the manager since and she was very nice and offered me a free snack & hot drink but I don't want to go there anymore.
