Stopped here for lunch to break up a long journey home. It is a magical place and we had a delicious pub lunch outside in the October sun. The food was first rate. Great to see the steam train going past. Didn't make it up to see the high rocks but hopefully next time!

Such a beautiful day. Took my mum (and brother) here on the steam train for mothers day. Was served by a wonderful waiter Mr. Bello (beautiful in italian-he was from sardina). He was attentive and kind. The food was exceptional too. We had such a lovely time. We will be back.

We enjoyed a Sunday lunch at the High Rocks restaurant. We travel 50 miles to and from this venue as the food is excellent, the waiters are friendly and helpful and the pianist adds a further dimension to the experience. When necessary, if wheeelchair access is needed for a guest this is also available. A lovely day out.

We attended the barn restaurant for Christmas Day Lunch as we have every year for the last 6 years. Lovely atmosphere with great Christmas vibe but that’s as good as it got. Service was incredibly slow and food was just not what we have experienced before. Potatoes were rock hard and salty as were the vegetables. The turkey was cold, thick cut and dry and the stuffing looked like it had been turned out from a can of dog sheeba. The melon to start were great. I had already paid a deposit of £150 and was greeted with a further bill of in excess £500 for 5 adults. My mum had two mouthfallls and couldn’t eat anymore. My mum has the start of Alzheimer’s and we didn’t want a fuss but surely the waiter could have seen by the way very little was eaten by any of us and asked if there was a problem. He didn’t. That evening, I emailed a letter to Guiseppe the owner who replied quite rudely with complacency and arrogance insisting they were the best and not taking on board our polite constructive criticism. We were not looking for freebies just acceptance of our experience and maybe a simple apology. He suggested they open as a service with no profit in the event. I’m sorry at £85 per head I don’t buy that and if your usual standard or quality cannot be sustained then I suggest you shouldn’t do it. I’m sure many people enjoyed it and to them it was acceptable but to me and my family the experience was the worst we have experienced with you. So after many years of giving our custom to you, it is the last and could have been resolved with a simple apology. You say you have been in business over 30 years and obviously know it all so best regards and let’s see how many more years you trade with the attitude and arrogance you gave to me.

Nice warm welcome on Christmas day Relaxed atmosphere Good entertainment Lots of staff Friendly and helpful bar staff However, unfortunately, service was pretty slow, compared with previous years, the Christmas Dinner was a big disappointment for the following reasons. The turkey wasn't a very nice flavour. The ROAST POTATOES were rock hard and inedible, the carrots were raw and the stuffing was like cat food The starter, melon was very nice, nicely presented and very tasty. The Christmas Pudding dessert was delicious and the sauce really gave it a lovely flavour My family felt the same about their meals One son had salmon starter thoroughly enjoyed it. Couldn't eat much of main course but enjoyed the chocolate torte The rest of the family (6 of us in total) felt exactly the same as me nice starter and dessert bur inedible main course. We didn't complain as the venue was packed and we didn't want to make a scene spoiling other people's meal and also the service was so slow. THE BILL 6XADULTS @£85. £510.00 10%SERVICE CHARGE£51 TOTAL £561 Tea and coffee to finish was included in the price. I did not ask for service charge to be removed as the entertainment had been non stop. I am sure the owners will be disappointed to read this review and I will say that the quality of the food we were supplied was out of keeping. It is normally delicious Sunday lunch is normally an excellent experience especially during the summer months when the steam trains are running. High Rocks is a wonderful venue Drinks were extra but at normal prices

After walking a few miles to get here to explore the "High Rocks" my wife and I were both a bit thirsty. Bottles of water at £2.50 each (not cold) and pints of fizzy drink at £5 each show this place is just a overpriced dive, preying on a captive audience. If you're heading out this way, either bring your own food / drinks or go back into Tunbridge to get something so you don't spend over the odds.

Good meal soon after Covid-19 restrictions relaxed. Staff was friendly and helpful. However, some staff might need some training on Covid measures as, when we entered the first-floor restaurant, all windows were sealed shut. No ventilation. I had to ask to open them just enough to allow some ventilation and fresh air to come in, but the waiter was reluctant to do so because "it was raining"...I'd rather be cooler than catching Covid...surely, by now, they should know how Covid spreads...

Enquired about holding our wedding reception here, was told thats fine and was sent through menu options and avaliable dates. Great! However, when i asked if there was somewhere for me to get ready i was told no, it transpired that the only hold wedding 'PARTIES' in the evening and not wedding receptions. This was discovered because i told i couldn't wear my wedding dress and my bridesmaids couldn't wear their dresses because "it may aswell be a full blown wedding". We are getting married in Cyprus and was recommended this place by alot of people to hold our reception when we are back but all i have received it rude customer service and told i could have a party but not a wedding reception as i cannot and neither can any of my wedding party wear our wedding attire!! May i suggest that when you receive an enquiry for a WEDDING RECEPTION you make it clear to ypur clientele that they are signing up for a party and not a wedding reception and are not allowed to wear their wedding attire on that basis! And be polite about it!! Very very disappointed.

My husband I came for a meal and a wander around the rocks yesterday as a belated anniversary because of lockdown and it was simply amazing! The staff are so kind and welcoming and helped to really make the experience feel so special - they went over and above so that I was smiling from ear to ear for hours! As always the rocks were spectacular (we spent 1 1/2 hours exploring) and the food was exquisite (you have to try the goats cheese tart - it was perfection). They even helped us to find our car keys in the dark as I hadn't realised that I'd dropped them when exploring the rocks and they did it without any fuss. This really is a special place - if you haven't been, you need to go and if you're thinking of returning then you just need to do it. I'm really not normally the sort of person who gushes about things, but yesterday was one of my best post lockdown experiences this year. Thank you so much to everyone at High Rocks and we'll see you again soon :)

On the outskirts of Royal Tunbridge Wells you will find the High Rocks so named because of the cliff like climbing which is available there. Just opposite is the High Rocks Restaurant which has been in existence for some 30 years. Starting off as a modest affair it was substantially enlarged and today offers the discerning customer an excellent meal both for lunchtime and dinner. The menu offers a very good selection of food and wines. You get a good and friendly welcome. My wife and I have visited this restaurant many times over the years and have never been disappointed. It is such a shame that I have to leave this review on trip adviser but it is important that others are aware of our bad experience on the day but more so the poor attitude of the High Rocks manager when we emailed him directly with constructive feedback. At Easter, I attended High Rocks and booked a table for 7 on the 27th July. I asked for a particular table but was told that they do not allocate specific tables when booking. I therefore attended the venue the week before to confirm the booking and to ascertain whether I could have the table of my choice, which was table 7. This was confirmed, and I thanked the gentleman on reception for his assistance. There is no need to go into why that particular table was important to me, but it was, and I would have thought that this would have been deduced from my actions.Upon arrival, alternative guests had been given table 7, and when I expressed my displeasure to the waiter, but he said that table 7 had already specifically been booked, although no mention of this had been made to me when I attended the previous week. He offered me an alternative table to that which had been allocated to us, but that would have made no difference to me, so I declined his offer. The food and service was good, although I was ignored when I asked to taste the wine before it was poured. I subsequently emailed High Rocks to reiterate my disappointment at the way in which my request had been dealt with, and received a highly unpleasant response, which did not answer any of my queries at all. It was rude, patronising, and accused me of ‘offending’ them. There was no attempt at an apology, which in itself would have been sufficient for me to draw a line under this. I found the Management’s response to be most unprofessional, which is unfortunate when the venue itself and the food at High Rocks is very good.’

Lovely big venue with wood beams and thousands of fairy lights - accommodates large parties well. The food this year was plentiful with decent portions and well cooked for such a large crowd eg carrots were crunchy and tasty; chicken in pastry was substantial; bread rolls fresh; pesto/tomato/ mozzarella/ rocket starter salad was very tasty - and finished with a sweet if not gloopy ( arent they all?) chocolate eclair. Service was very well managed - with tables being well covered across the large expanse.

Vegetables cooked perfectly to retain shape and colour. Hot food on hot plates.

To celebrate a birthday, I looked for a restaurant which had vegan options on its menu. Looking at the restaurant’s website, it appeared that there were at least two main course ootions, but the menu presented to us had only the ubiquitous risotto, so no choice. The meat eaters amongst decideded that the slices of meat were possibly pre-formed, probably from a catering pack and probably cooked on the plate and some of it was raw and flabby - very unappetising. Service was very slow although there were lots of members of staff. The welcome was warm, but it went downhill from there. The loos looked, and smelled, like those in an instituion.

Fabulous cuisine with excellent service. Only observation was lack of atmosphere as we have dined here twice, once on a Friday evening and the other occasion was a Saturday. Giuseppe's restaurant is the (slightly) Italian themed restaurant serving a variety of meals e.g sea bass, beef bourguignon but with the Italian dishes such as risotto/polenta having maybe a little more detail in the delivery. On arrival it does feel like a wedding venue (which obviously is a large part of their business), with meet and greet staff in the entrance hall and a slick process to take you to your table. On Sundays the live pianist is a calming but unobtrusive presence and though the majority of the clientele were older or multigenerational family groups it felt busy enough and in no way stuffy (several tables had younger children and no real dress code). Drinks and dinner orders were taken promptly and the quality of the food was excellent and unfussy (enjoyed by the children) and great value at about £30 per head including a small drinks bill. Steak was carefully cooked and starters and starters and deserts presented beautifully. The main meals were delivered with silver/metal covers and 'unveiled' at the table with separate vegetable side orders. This gave an air of slight 1970s theatre which the grandparents loved. The outside/garden tables also looked like a good spot and the only downside was that the front hall and the toilet areas do look a bit tired.

Tickets to explore the Rocks themselves can be bought here but unfortunately closed for wedding when we went. Hubby and I attended an evening invitation to a wedding held at this venue. The grounds and interior of the venue were all very attractive and well maintained. Bar area was very cramped for the three staff trying to serve an awful lot of people but they did do a very good job. Evening buffet consisted of veggie burgers, cheeseburgers, sausages in rolls and bacon rolls together with the wedding cake. Sachets of condiments were provided. Perfectly satisfactory. Perhaps there should have been a no glasses on the dance floor request as there were several glasses broken which were attended to very quickly by the bar staff but it would have been better for the DJ to have announced that there should be no glasses allowed on the dance floor. All in all a very good evening in very nice surroundings.

Our daughter and her husband were married at High Rocks, Tunbridge Wells on 17th August. When we first visited the venue over a year ago, we were struck by the warmth, sincerity and professionalism of both Jeremy and Martin whom we met. They were most hospitable, answered our numerous questions very patiently and showed us around the various reception rooms, together with the outside area. In the year that followed that meeting, we visited High Rocks several times to eat in the restaurant and the bar and to meet our chosen photographer and florist and it quickly became apparent that Giuseppe and Maggie, the owners, have a devoted, loyal team, who work tirelessly, many of whom have been with them for the last 25-30 years and who clearly enjoy what they do. Nothing seemed too much trouble and we felt confident that they could cope with anything which cropped up. We really cannot praise Giuseppe, Maggie and their staff highly enough. The actual day was perfect for Rachel and Darren and everything was so well organised. Although Jeremy had been superb in answering our many questions beforehand, both on the telephone and in person and was so reassuring, unfortunately, he wasn't present on the day itself, but we would also like to say a special thank you to Martin - the Master of Ceremonies, who was incredibly efficient and did a fantastic job at organising our guests from beginning to end, not to mention the speeches! Our chosen venue was the Great Hall Barn which suited our needs perfectly, with its various distinct areas and with its fairy lights twinkling, the tables laid beautifully and decorated with flowers, the Barn was exactly what Rachel and Darren wanted. Every single member of the team was friendly, courteous, helpful and worked so hard, especially when we had a significant number of babies and young children, who had specific needs and also various guests with mobility difficulties, who were taken up to the High Rocks area in wheel chairs, in order that they weren't left out of that section of the wedding. We all enjoyed the beautiful three course meal, which was served quickly and efficiently, followed by coffee and mints. We would like to thank Giuseppe, Maggie and all their wonderful team and wish them continued success. They have something truly special at High Rocks and we will certainly be returning to visit them all in the future.

After having a terrible visit here in the past I was reluctant to come back when friends suggested meeting here. However I thought I'd give it another chance.Huge mistake. This place obviously focuses on the function side of the business meaning that the casual diner suffers.Reviews here can't be relied upon as they're a mix of people who attend a function and people who casual dine.Beautiful setting in a poorly run place food was boring and not of the standard I would expect in this area and for a place of this size and location.Sadly I gave it another chance and I won't be back.

What a fab place, with great attention to detail. Excellent. Took my mother who is 81 and my sister for Sunday Lunch here. This is my second time for Sunday Lunch here and was totally wowed again by the service. The food is fab and the waiting staff excellent and the icing on the cake is the pianist who plays while you eat. I must go back, totally in love with this place, great value too

This was the latest of several visits my wife and I have made over the last three years and yet again we were not disappointed. From arriving at the front door to leaving at the end of our meal everything was done to ensure a dining experience of the highest order. The food, service and atmosphere was exceptional. A very special place indeed.

We held our Wedding here on 10th August 2017 in the Presidents Suite and High rocks is a fantastic venue it's extra special definitely not run of the mill, from the moment we arrived until we fell into the courtesy mini bus much later!! the Staff here were brilliant . The food was wonderful how they serve so many people is astounding and everyone's food was piping hot. The disco played all our playlist and sensed the age of the guests and added lots of good old tunes as well as the much newer ones. All our guests commented on such a brilliant day. Thanks so much to Maggie, Giuseppe, Martin and Paul for all your hard work we could not have wished for a more perfect day.

We were invited as wedding guest to this venue. Immediately it was clear that this establishment is a cut above the usual wedding venues. The staff, the food and the location make it feel special. Whilst they cater for more than one wedding at a time, due to the layout of the venue and the excellent staff this does not impact on each individual event, leaving you to enjoy your day confident that all is taken care of. I would not hesitate in recommending this venue to friends and family.

For us, High Rocks is just a little out of the way and not easy to get too from our side of Tunbridge Wells. However the extra effort was well worth while

What can I say?,a perfect welcome from Maggie and the staff (my wife was speaking to her in Italian while we waited for a cab to the spa railway), beautiful but cosy surroundings,we were in the barn, the meal was perfect all courses were served hot to the table, and were cooked to perfection, the wines in the table were good quality Italian wines not your normal bog standard you get in a lot of places (Trebbiano and Sangiovese),all in all a perfect day, thank you.

My fiancée and I visited today for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were all friendly and well organised. The food was great - I had fillet steak which melted in the mouth and my fiancée had the Provençal risotto. We finished the meal with the meringue and chocolate torte. Again, both excellent. Will definitely be returning!!

5 of us on motorcycles went there for a an afternoon drink, 2 of us had prawn sandwiches that were very nice, the staff were efficient, we sat in the garden over looking the railway and the 'Rocks' to the other side, definitely a place to return to, many table outside so not sure what it would be like when busy.

A fantastic and stunning venue, my brother made an amazing choice to have his wedding here, the staff were ready to greet us on arrival from the train, they helped us with our many bags and talked us through all the essential details. The toastmaster, Martin has perfected a combination of professionalism and humour, he was great fun and took us through everything we needed to do, right down to getting us bridesmaids and the bride down the aisle in perfect timing. The Manager, Paul did a fantastic job of keeping the bride calm when she was whisked away to meet the registrars and he kept the whole day and night running to perfection. Every single member of staff smiled and greeted guests, they were the epitome of the perfect team and I can't express enough how refreshing this was compared to experiences of other venues! The serving of the meal was done to military precision, The owner, Giuseppe was there to oversee all the details and its clear to see where the quality of the staff stems from. We had the absolute pleasure of meeting Giuseppe and his wife, Maggie when we were waiting to walk down the aisle, they are genuinely lovely and personable people, helping us to deal with a slight bridesmaid wardrobe malfunction and helping to keep everyone calm and organised. The love and pride that Giuseppe and Maggie have for their stunning venue is more than apparent, it is clear that their heart and soul has gone into the running and maintenance of the place and their sheer experience of weddings is apparent. Wherever we were in the venue, there was always a member of staff on hand, ready to help and I can't express enough how impressed we all were by their professionalism and perfection. Barry, the photographer met us at the brides hotel at the beginning of the day and took responsibility for getting us there in perfect timing, with some fun shots along the way! As part of the High Rocks team, Barry made the day! He was hilarious and fantastic, he knows the venue perfectly and knew exactly where the best shots would be. I am sure every guest would agree that the beautiful venue and fantastic High Rocks team really made the day extra special and we can't thank them enough for it :)

I found High Rocks to be a brilliant venue for our Leavers' Prom/Ball. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was served efficiently, the venue was beautiful! I wasn't expecting to like the food as I am a fussy eater, but I ended up really enjoying the meal. The security present was also very good and reassuring, bathrooms were clean, and dance floor and bar were brilliant. Overall, very pleased with my evening at High Rocks, and would definitely consider it again for future events should I need a venue of this type!

Went for lunch with friends. Garden area is lovely but the food is rubbish. A £7 Italian salad was so basic - a few tinned olives and 5 capers. 3 mozzarella balls and a few tomatoes. My friends ordered a £12 steak pie - it was basically a bit of stew with a small puff pastry slice which is clearly cooked separately. Kids food expensive for what it is. Overall a poor eating experience. Bar service slooow. Ok for a drink on a sunny day but that's about it.

We got married here. Everything was just a dream. The food is AMAZING, all of my guests made countless comments about how lovely it was. The grounds in the rocks are stunning for photos, like a fairy tale. The great barn is so pretty that we didn't need to get any decoration or spend any extra costs. Jeremy and Maggie are fantastic at making you feel like you are their soul priority and make sure everything is perfect. You do get a toast master included in your package if you want one, I would strongly recommend not using him. He was very pushy about things that I had really planed out that I ended up having to change on the day such as how my bridal party walk down the isle and when and who does their speeches. He made me feel slightly uncomfortable when I said I had set ways I wanted things and just in general a bit forceful.

Having visited this lovely venue many times (including getting married here 10 years ago)I felt I had to write my honest review. The location, gardens, outdoor area still as beautiful as its always been but the inside and interior looking very tired now and in need of a good clean. When we arrived (A very sunny Sunday afternoon) We were worried that we hadn't booked, there was no need to worry as the place was practically empty (even the terrace) and once our food arrived we could see why. Such a shame. All of us from our party of 6 were so disappointed with the bland, unimaginative food. The staff were friendly enough but it all seemed very disorganised and old fashioned and literally hasn't changed in over 10 years. From looking at the other reviews they look to be doing well with their functions but the bar food, individual customer walk in experience was very poor and most disappointing. - Come on High Rocks, bring yourselves into the 21st Century!

Organised a work do (for 250 people) and the experience has been first class all the way. The owners couldn't have done more for us, and the same goes for their staff who were fantastic. The food was amazing (best beef Wellington I have ever had) and the venue is just beautiful. Couldn't have asked for more. Real quality, truly recommended!

In the past, I have had a Birthday Party there, and both my girls had their Wedding receptions there. More recently, I have been for a walk around the Rocks and a light meal. I have always been very happy with the service and the food. I'm now booking a Christmas party for December and we look forwards to that. Well worth a visit, the setting is beautiful and if you do not want to drive post party they have a minibus to town for their customers. Brilliant !!

The cascade of recent vitriolic reviews gives one the impression there is an unjustified conspiracy to diss this excellent establishment, which is truly a jewel in West Kent’s crown. The proprietor, Giuseppe, is rightly proud of his business; he has exacting requirements and delivers a cuisine and service to match. Some of these complainers seem to mistake his passion for food and organisation for inflexibility or worse. I have been a customer of High Rocks for many years and have taken part in several highly successful dinners, dinner dances and weddings there and have nothing but praise for the dedication and professionalism of the staff, quality of food, and value. For those who have not yet experienced this venue, you should not be put off by thoughtless, one-line “reviews”... you will very pleasantly surprised.

As a family we have visited this venue so many times, we have had family parties, Sunday lunches, attended there tribute act evenings, had our Christmas dinner and even arranged parties for the company I work for.Not once can I say that the staff have been anything other than extremely professional and friendly and the previous comments leave me speechless and annoyed. We have never had cause to complain about anything. Despite the negative comments made on this site which I feel are unjust and unreal I would have no problem returning to the High rocks and will be doing so shortly.Genuine people that use the High Rocks know the service they get and will I'm sure keep going there.Whatever the managements issue is with one particular customer that is there business and nothing to do with anyone else. No I am not worried about being sued.

Var en tur i Calverley Grounds for en gåtur og da der kom en regn byge valgte vi at gå ind i denne lille hyggelig cafe. Her er servering både inde og ude. Hyggelig typisk engelsk.

Great place to drop into if you want a quick cup of coffee (and/or snack). The service is quick and friendly and the coffee is good. You can either drink it in your vehicle or at the outdoor tables (with good views across the surrounding countryside), as long as it's not raining or cold.

A lovely lunch today … tasty shepherds pie my partner had the lamb shank, which was beautifully cooked. I would highly recommend a visit to Waterside cafe, great food at a reasonable price, welcoming staff and all in a great setting overlooking beautiful lake! Will be back again!
