We enjoyed a fantastic meal in restaurant Ogo. The food was delicious and Darcy who served us was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We would definitely recommend eating here. This was a part of the 1 night spa break and made it very memorable and special.

We ate here a year ago and it was amazing. Unfortunately, the food this weekend was bizarre! Tiny portions...so much so that we were starving afterwards. Really unusual food that was not at all appealing. Really disappointed..won't be eating here again.

Sadly not as good as last year and poor value for money. Before visiting we knew that it was a tasting menu and designed to showcase local produce. We were given a large price of bread each and then shared ‘starters’ which were no more than a mouthful each. I personally do not like mushrooms and was disappointed that the fish course was accompanied by mushrooms as well as the plant option being mushrooms, this only left venison as a choice for the main course. The venison was tasty but tiny. There were plenty of new potatoes accompanied by a herb sabayon sauce but it felt as though we were loaded with bread and potatoes to make up for the tiny starters and main course. Dessert consisted of one small piece of cheese, again disappointing. Sadly difficult to recommend Ogo to others.

Good points, service is good and a beautiful restaurant looking out to sea. After we stayed here last autumn we decided to come for dinner whilst on holiday in Mawgan Porth as we had really enjoyed the food last year. TBH I probably wouldn’t return to this restaurant now but may try the Wild cafe again. . On this occasion, I have to say I felt a bit cheated, I am 8 1/2 stone and 5’4 tall lady so for me to leave a restaurant still hungry is a disappointment, I came home and had toast! Food was ok but nowhere near as tasty as I experienced last year, starters okish, the best bit was the bread and cheese custard, my main of sea bass was so small, a little square of fish with some tasteless green sauce and foam and a few bits of shellfish, thank goodness we had three new potatoes each with our meal. Having requested a gluten free meal, I could not believe they served half the dessert, a ‘very’ small scoop of ice cream, they hadn’t replaced the gluten part with anything else, even doubled up on the ice cream or put some fruit on the plate, I didn’t notice this until I saw the table next to us being served theirs, the cheese was also a very small round slither of goat cheese too. We’re not big or greedy people so I suggest if you like a hearty meal don’t go. The waiter kindly removed the deserts from the bill but come on BSH, your diners shouldn’t be left hungry or feel cheated, fine dining or not.

The atmosphere and vibes were comfortable, the table not so much. It was very around and it made it impossible to feel comfortable in. The food was very 5 star, small portions kind of food. Like a sample of things. You got planned starters, in-between things and desserts. Three of each and then you could taste them all. The main meal was just as small and you could choose what you wanted. It was a lovely valentine's day gift from my partner and I did enjoy the company and drinks. Wouldn't choose to dine here again as it isn't our thing. So if you prefer big heart meals, maybe this isn't the place for you, but it you love this kind of things, 100% give it a try. I will add that one of the dishes had a weird bug inside the salad serving and it put me off a bit. Didn't eat the dish and told the server right away. Very apologetic but that was it.

We have stayed in both Bedruthan and the Scarlet before and have loved our experience. However, this was our first time in the newly rebranded Ogo restaurant. We were really excited as this was meant to be an upgrade from their bistro-style Wild Café. However, we were left feeling hungry and disappointed. The portion sizes were beyond a joke. I understand fine dining usually entails smaller portions, but what we received was just plain tight. The menu works so that we receive one of each starter and side and then only have to pick between a meat/fish/veg main. On the surface, this sounds generous, but when you consider the starters and sides must be shared between two, it quickly becomes disappointing. Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture, but if I were to describe the anna potatoes we received, it was one slice no bigger than an extra chunky chip! Worse yet, we had to slice this in half so that we could share it! The sirloin beef we ordered came out as two slices of steak. By this time, we had already decided it was not worth ordering dessert for the extra cost, despite being starving! I don’t believe the meal as a whole even exceeded 300 calories. The only reason this isn’t one star is because the food tasted good! It was just massively let down by the fact we were left very hungry, after saving ourselves for a special meal. If you are debating the two, I strongly recommend just eating at the Wild Café.

We have visited Bedruthan hotel many times now, we love it, it’s one of our special places. Often we get the ‘best of bedruthan’ package which includes dinner at the Herring Restaurant. Unfortunately the 3 times we have eaten here something has been wrong. Either one dish is cold, fish over cooked or just poor executed meals. There just seems to be a lack of consistency with the food which is a real shame because the restaurant is beautiful. Not much atmosphere when it’s quiet but none-the-less stunning views especially if you catch it at sunset. The food in the Wild Cafe is pretty similar to be honest but there you have a little more choice just less formal. The waiters can sometimes be a little hit and miss too in terms of experience. Our last waitress, as lovely as she was, didn’t know how to open a bottle of wine. I think maybe some extra training would be helpful. Also at the Herring which really gets my goat is that they add on I think an addition £5pp on top of your package. If they package you’ve booked says dinner at the Herring included why are we paying extra for this? Doesn’t make sense.

Been to the hotel lots before but always eaten in the Wild Cafe as it so friendly. Wedropped in a little later than normal and was invite to view the Herring. Loved the atmosphere which seemed like a little heaven hidden away with dim lighting and candles, after looking around we decided to give it a go. Our waitress Cherlyn was lovely and look after us advising on what my wife could have with her special diets. The chef made her a special dish which really showed they cared. I had a really tasty pork dish and was even tempted to have a dessert which I normally skip. The food was posh restaurant yet rustically plated. The manager as we left had a chat and explained they are proud of the ingredients they use so hope to be true to them with their dishes. We were really made to feel welcome so we are looking forward to heading back over soon.

Really a beautiful experience in every way. The views are incredible, food is amazing, but the staff make it exceptional. We had a few booking issues so they were kind enough to squeeze us into Ogo instead of the Wild Cafe which is their fine dining restaurant. Just genuine, nice, kind people make all the difference to a dining experience. Really knowledgeable staff in the bar making the cocktails, and a Restaurant Manager who truly cares about the customer experience. As a chef I feel I must defend the food here after reading other reviews below. This restaurant is fine dining, that means the portions are exquisite, intensely flavoured dishes, using local produce, artisan producers and created by skilled chefs. It is intended for it to be an experience of culinary talent and flavour. Each dish is meant to be savoured and experienced fully. The different levels of flavour in the dishes we experienced were excellent. And I have been fortunate enough to visit many Michelin Star Restaurants in the UK and Europe. If you wish to 'gobble up' large portions of carbs/steak and seafood may I suggest you eat instead at the Wild Cafe upstairs instead, which is also excellent. If your pallette is not refined enough to appreciate high quality local Cornish ingredients which are exceptionally prepared then accept you would be better dining elsewhere. Its really not fair to criticise the food or the portion sizes. Its like going to the Ballet and expecting a game of Rugby. To anyone wishing to enjoy a wonderful dining experience, great views and lovely staff, then I would recommend visiting Ogo. I would love to come back soon.

If it's seafood you're after, then head for Rum and Crab Shack. Located upstairs and overlooking St Ives harbour, the food here is beautiful. It's also plentiful so you get your money's worth. Dog friendly.
