First time in the heron after moving to the area... fantastic atmosphere, great live music... back on Wednesday for the darts

We visited with a group of friends for a Sunday roast, food was excellent but what made it even better was the service. Teresa looked after us and made sure our visit was a memorable one. Definitely worth the 5 stars.

Visited The Heron after a nice walk around Westam, in the mud 😂. Quick change of footware and into our pre reserved table. Had the Sunday Roast, lots of nice veg, lovely rosdt potatoes, tender meat and a nice Yorkshire pudding, with a side af lovely cheesy cauliflower cheese. Goos service and decent value for money, although soda and fresh lime, in my opinion, should be free, which they charge for unfortunately. Overall, a lovely dinner, dessert next time maybe, but were full on this occasion.

A lovely regular boozer, full of characters.The alcohol is reasonably priced and they do an exceptional pint of Guinness.

Re-discovered my local last weekend and had a very enjoyable Saturday evening at The Heron, such friendly and welcoming proprietors, staff and locals, and enjoyed a nice couple of pints of Harveys and the entertainment too..also booked a Sunday Roast for the following lunchtime, but was warned by staff that there were currently 'electricity problems'. Despite any probs and as a 'foodie' my roast beef dinner (and a choice of roasts on the menu too, aswell as other items} was absolutely fantastic and by far the most enjoyable I've ever had when eating out. Very large portions and such a wide selection of veg on my plate which was all beautifully cooked, nice beef (with some meatloaf too) and a big Yorkshire pud too, and I ordered some cauliflower cheese as an extra (£1.75, and a large portion also) . Great and friendly service and updates too.. Despite my large appetite and capacity for food, my only regret is that I didn't have room to fit in a dessert, and I was so nicely stuffed that I couldn't finish my pint of Harveys! Looking forward to the next time though, and highly recommended..Thank you all x

We had Sunday lunch here yesterday, food was excellent, fresh & of good quality & home made. The atmosphere was great, good to see the village pub thriving. Very friendly welcoming staff, will definitely return, would highly recommend it.

We were staying at the nearby campsite and picked up a flyer for this pub - Friday special for October, order 2 fish&chips and get a free bottle of prosecco. Say no more! But the big surprise was how vibrant and welcoming the pub was and then the meal: probably the best fish & chips we've ever had, lovely! I would happily have this as my local.

Sunday lunch in Pevensey. Very very small menu 3 starters and 5 or 6 mains. Looking for a roast but pictures on the wall inside after we sat down didn't look very appetising. So we opted for the burgers chips and salad. Took around 40 mins to come which was a surprise as it wasn't busy, but no big deal. Chips and been double dunked so totally full of oil, salad very plain just 1 type of mixed leaf with no dressing and no condiments on the table at all. Onion ring frozen cheap ones ( just buy a onion ) and do yourself. Coleslaw tasted of cheap mayonnaise which was a shame. But saying that the burger was very good, juicy with a nice taste. But a little undercooked in places which HEO wouldn't be happy about ( use a probe). Service nice a friendly apartment from the young lad helping just seemed very nervous. Hopefully he will relax more and enjoy the job. Would I go back NO But not the worse meal I've ever had.

My sister in law told me about the Pork Belly at the Heron. She also told me because it is so popular it is best to order it for when you intend to go. Which I did. Wow generous portion it was absolutely devine. Will definitely visit again. It was the first time I have eaten Pork Belly and I wasn't disappointed. I took my friend who is down from Kent with me , she was also well impressed. Also met some lovely local people in there who were regulars.

We stopped here while on holiday and had a lovely Sunday lunch. Delicious food, generous sized portions and great service. The landlord even posted my son’s baseball cap back to us as we left it there, very kind of him. Great pub, would recommend!

Had a very nice meal tonight with my wife, the food was delicious my wife had chicken curry I had ham eggs and chips with salad plus a starter and dessert which were free as a meal deal . Staff very friendly and the locals, would highly recommend.

On the off chance we dropped by the pub on a Sunday. We had a very good roast dinner for £13.95. One was belly of pork, which was tender and roast beef. Vegetables were cooked nicely and for an extra £1.50 a dish of cauliflower cheese. Plenty of gravy as well. We enjoyed it.

Great pub with a lovely welcoming atmosphere. A spacious garden at the rear which came as a lovely surprise , had sun all afternoon, lots of umbrellas available if you want some shade too. Food was plentiful and tasty , I would recommend the cod and chips and the burger.

An excellent lunch here. Great sandwiches (bacon and brie my particular favourite) with salad and crisps. Freshly made (bacon hot from the pan!) and swiftly served. Beer excellent. Newly decorated, so clean, airy and spacious, perfect for a hot sunny day. And the manager could not have been friendlier. Pub approaching first anniversary from renovating, so happy birthday. Friendly service and great food. Lovely family atmosphere and great events including live music and charity support.

The heron recently changed hands and has been updated. It looks really lovely. As locals we thought we should support them and try it out. We were very impressed with the size and quality of the food. The entertainment was all exceptional.

Lovely service from a really kind and helpful lady. Service very quick. My five year old recommends the ham sandwich! Delicious fish finger butties. And such a pretty setting.

Booked for Sunday Lunch with some friends. A great Sunday lunch menu selection. We all had starters, two chose prawn cocktail, how 1970’s is that? 👍, two chose the garlic mushrooms. For the main course two selected chicken, one beef and one belly pork. All meals were well prepared and delicious. No complaints about portion size with plenty of rich gravy, and an optional portion of cauliflower cheese. Great meal, great front of house team. Highly recommended.

Went there last night Awful burger, certainly not home made burger, it was not up to the usual high standard. What went wrong?? Chef was away.. Seriously awful. First time ever I've critised this place.

We had some time to kill, and it was lunchtime. Never been to this pub or come to that, not even Westham! The service was good, and the barmaid (Kay) was really very helpful, polite and chatty. Our meal, which was a three egg omelette, chips and salad was freshly prepared and very tasty. The pub, although a little on the outside was clean and tidy within and the toilets were exceedingly clean and tidy, possibly the best I've seen in a pub for a long time.

Wow! Have found a new go-to place for Sunday lunch. The Heron in Westham High Street is under new management - we had the roast; choice of roast beef, pork or chicken - we had a mixture. Best pork crackling I've ever eaten, homemade large Yorkshire puds, good range of well cooked veggies with additional tasty cauliflower cheese. Very generous helpings of well cooked, tasty food with lashings of gravy. After a rest we had an apple and fruit crumble, this time with lashings of custard. Lovely atmosphere in the pub, lots of parking and a lovely garden for the better weather. We will definitely be back. Thank you, we loved it! 😊

Lovely village pub. It looks nothing from the outside (sorry guys), but once inside it’s very welcoming. The food is exceptional for the price, and drinks prices are pretty good too (£4.20 for a very well kept pint of Harvey’s Sussex is recommended ). From behind the bar, the lovely Theresa took our food and drinks orders and kept us, and a few dozen others, topped up all evening. If you are ever in this area, I totally recommend this hidden gem!

Down from Norfolk I decided to take my father here for Sunday roast. 3 different meats, plenty of vegetables and roast potatoes plus a large Yorkshire pudding with gravy boat Absolutely loved it Certainly recommend giving a try for a home cooked dinner

Lovely meal this evening. The staff are friendly and atmosphere is good. The homemade steak, ale and mushroom pie was the highlight. Will definitely be eating here again.

I'm sure this pub is set for good things. The staff were friendly and the beer was good. The down side was all the scaffolding on the outside which made my wonder before I tried the door was it open? There appears to be some substantial work going on here, good luck to them if your passing give it a go it way more laid back than the other pub near the castle.

It was my first time since the re-opening. It was very clean and welcoming. The landlord and staff are all lovely. Hopefully the kitchen will be open soon. I will definitely recommend it and I am looking forward to going back at the weekend.

Quite a nice looking pub, located about halfway between Pevensey Castle and the station. The interior has been partially opened out into a U-shaped bar. Very friendly barmaid. Clean and neat restrooms. Love the ‘family garden’ that consists of some café style seating on a paved area that leads to some picnic tables on the lawn. There are also a few tables and chairs under a shelter that also houses a BBQ for sunny days.

Typical pub very brief visit while waiting for a bus. Had a latte which was mediocre. It was clean and the staff were friendly but probably not the place for me.

Good sized pub with a free car park to the side of the pub. Car-park is very tight though and not designed for reversing into the bays if driving in. Popped in here on a weekday evening and was unable to get any diet drinks. No diet coke, coke zero or pepsi max.

A good pub on Westham High Street. Conveniently placed close to the train station, Pevensey Castle etc, it is a clean and comfortable location, not often too busy. Staff are friendly and happy to chat, there is a small games area (with pool table). Definitely worth a visit!
