Stopped in for a drink with our two sons and the staff were so friendly. Giving the kids drinks in fun glasses we were made very welcome. Husband enjoyed the range of beers on draft to chose from and I had an excellent margarita!

A lovely dog friendly pub nenar the quay side. Food was lovely and good value. They had a good selection of alcohol free drinks, with one on draught. Second visit for us a family and it didn't disappoint.

Busy and didn't have the character of a real ale pub or the friendly welcoming nature. Seemed a bit run if the mill and too busy to really have any interest in 'people'. Beer was nice and it was around 6-7 pm on a Saturday, so would like to go in at quieter time to compare better.

Very nice bar, very good selection of quality beers. Limited menu but what they do is very good. I had the dirty fries which were pretty good. You get a choice of toppings, I went for katsu chicken. The swaharma salad is very good too. They do other stuff like burgers etc. The food came pretty quickly too. Tucked away off the quayside but well worth a visit. Definitely worth a visit.

Food and service was excellent. 2nd time I have eaten here and both times fantastic. Highly recommend

Great spot, well chosen and varied selection of beers and ales from both the U.K. and abroad. This place should be championed as a stand out compared to the usual fodder bars. Haven't tried the food but but I saw being moved around looked great

I give this place 5 stars for it's Craft Beer selection in cans and bottles. A great selection of hazys, pales and lagers not to mention a really good selection of Belgium bottles. They even have a nice selection of drafts. Not overly adventurous but still better than the same ol stuff you find everywhere. I didn't eat here but I can whole heartedly recommend it for a place to relax and enjoy a pint. Be it Craft beers, Belgium triples, or drafts.

We regularly come here for lunch on nice days after a walk along the quayside. The only bit I don't like about it is that the tables, sauce bottles and menus are usually sticky to the touch. That aside, they have a really comprehensive beer menu (we enjoyed pineapple and grapefruit wheat beer shandies last time) and the food is pretty good. The lunch menu offers a good discount and we usually go for burgers or gyros.

Some unusual beers and ales here but pricing was a bit high. Nice decor and on the quayside but first chair my partner sat in was broken. Never tried the food but menu sounded nice.

Only across the river from our hotel so we decided to start the afternoon off here. Cracking pub, friendly locals and decent prices for a wide selection of beers.

Really lovely place on the quayside just off the river incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Give you a sample if you aren't sure of which of the range of new drinks they have on the pump. Great range of beers and ciders

Quick service, friendly staff, portions of food are large. If eating food, try to avoid the taller tables with chairs as the chairs are too short and you feel like a child when trying to eat

We only had drinks in here, but it was a nice cosy bar to be in while it was raining outside. The staff were nice and they had a good selection of drinks.

Staff are super friendly and helpful and the food is fresh and delicious (the Asian chicken flatbread is a taste sensation!). The only reason I’ve given 3 stars out of 5 is I went on a Wednesday lunchtime and I was the only one there. Is this place isn’t buzzing at night what is the world coming to!

Gluten free pizza base on request which has to be pre-ordered! Poor service for somewhere that has Gluten free beer on tap. Such a shame that this place can't deal with allergens

Head of Steam has always been a solid option for a great selection of drinks, and this one is no exception to that. Prices have always been a bit high but reasonable given the variety. Food quality, however, could be better. Especially for the price. Scrappy chips, sauce sparse giros, average pizzas. It's "fine," but one would hope for slightly better portions or quality given the prices and expectations suggested in the menu.

They didn't have hells on draft working but apart from that it was a good atmosphere and I loved that dogs were welcome. I am definitely going to come for pint with the dog next time I visit.

My wife and I went for dinner here as it is close to our hotel. The menu looked good and a bit different from your usual pub grub. We were pleasantly surprised, the pub is huge and has different seating areas where you can sit and have a chat with friends, play games or just chill, eat and listen to the music. We ordered beef gyros and seafood tacos and both were amazing. Yes the food costs a little more than a chain pub but the food was fresh and extremely tasty. Good selections of beer as well, including some that I have never seen before. Would highly recommend.

We only popped in to change our Little ones nappy as he'd had an accident, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Excellent bar with lots of beer options. Had an enormous 15 page menu of speciality beers from all over the world. Good balance of stouts, lights, darks and then sours and lambic fruit beers as well. We had a pizza to eat which was delicious and felt hand made and rustic.

Literally walking past and decided to call in! Lots of choice in real ale, menu looked good so we ordered. My hubby got the Bourbon Smoker Burger and fries, I got the vegan 'chicken ' gyros and fries- flippen lovely!!! 👌

Wonderful pub. The staff are incredibly charming and welcoming. The public areas are comfortably furnished and cosy. The selection of ale is very good. It's a dog friendly venue. Really nice customers too. I haven't eaten here but will do so in the future. My favourite pub in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Classy but simple place with an extensive range of craft ales . Had a burger with fries (which was gourmet class)and a pint of lager for £11. Themed bar based around music played 70s soul and funk which is all right by me .

Visited as a large group of adults and children with some friends who are from outside of Newcastle. We thought this would be a nice place to eat after a scenic walk along the quayside. The food was nice but the service left a lot to be desired. A very frosty reception from a lady with red hair who was apparently the manager. Needs to brush up on her customer service skills, definitively not the friendly geordie welcome you’d expect.

Great beer, music and atmosphere. But the toilets were absolutely disgusting. Looked liked they had not been cleaned in months.

Called in here for a drink on a cold day . Lovely, comfy seating areas and nice chilled atmosphere. Delicious hot chocolate (just needed to be piping hot )

Me and my partner always make sure we visit this place when coming up to visit family in Newcastle. Very friendly staff, fantastic atmosphere, great beers and more. We had a meal here not too long ago on a very busy Saturday, and still couldn’t fault the service or delicious food. I’ll make it my mission some day to have one of their sharing boards to myself.

Friendly staff, came here for pre theatre meal and we enjoyed it. Leaves on the line burger and the lamb shawarma. Great choice of beers and ales, pleasant atmosphere and good tunes.

Really enjoyed our lunch trip here on Monday. £10.50 for a great gyros, side & a pint of lager. One of the best vegan ranges in Newcastle, a class selection of beer & friendly staff who are knowledgeable on their craft booze. Good music too! 🤘🏼
