Smashburger in Newcastle upon Tyne

Great food with a large and highly customisable choice of burgers, sides and drinks. We tried a smashed beef and also a chicken burger both were very well cooked and tasted amazing. Staff are super friendly and explained how we use the touch screens to order. Definitely a place to try if you are in Newcastle.

Really poor. My order wasn’t what I’d put in. The server kept telling me it was right despite the receipt being in front of me! Cold chips too. And the restaurant was quiet. V disappointing.

Ordered a burger to take away, place was dead, I was literally the only customer, took 20 minutes to come and it was the driest burger I have ever eaten in my entire life. Cost £6.95 and it was honestly one of the worst burgers I have ever eaten, I took 2 bites and threw it away. Absolutely diabolical

Sebastian gave us great customer service and was very helpful with our needs asking us if we needed anything else to go with our meals, big props to the chefs in the restaurant Maxine was super nice and had a massive smile on her face making sure that the burgers were up to standard. Maxine even came out to ask how the food was which made us feel even more welcome. Best burgers in eldon square that’s for sure!

Great food!! Hamburgers especially are fantastic, staff are always really friendly and happy to help, restaurant is clean, well kept and comfortable. Great atmosphere. Had a fantastic first experience and kept going back, easy recommend from me!

Delicious burgers i would recommend this place to anyone fantastic food and wonderful service today from Steve very friendly and nice to talk to I'm very pleased with how fast I received my food and how friendly the member of staff serving me was will come back again :)

The food comes quick and it's always high quality. If you're in town and looking for a good burger, try Smashburger. It's cheaper than Five Guys and the burgers are better. It's a no brainer!

Staff are so so so kind here, especially as a celiac person. Always ready to help. Gluten free bun options here are 5*. My favourite fast food place with celiac. I reccomend :)

I got the buffalo, blue cheese smash burger with the sweet potato SB fries. The burger was okay, but lacked actual blue cheese flavour. The Franks Red Hot sauce was unevenly distributed, only really getting a hint of it after eating half of the burger. As for the actual burger patty, lettuce, tomato - it was actually pretty good and refreshing. The ingredients were fresh and vibrant. Was it worth the £17 odd? Probably not. Would £12/£13 for a meal (not just the burger) be a little more realistic? Probably! The sweet potato fries were pretty good but lacked overall flavour. Just an honest review. It was okay, and a good alternative to your usual option. That’s about it though!

My parents attended the Smash burger in Eldon square last week and for a lady who doesn’t normally enjoy burgers - she absolutely loved it!!! So much that she has brought me and my son to try it today. We al had a burger and shared some loaded fries. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was quick and super friendly. The burgers are loaded with flavour. We will return for sure!

Smashburger Newcastle – Review I visited Smashburger in Newcastle and went for the Triple Smashburger. It was a good size, served hot and tasty, and definitely hit the spot. The cheese was there but seemed to get a little lost in the mix. Personally, I prefer a proper Smashburger crust, where you get that crispy, frilly edge for some extra texture. This one didn’t quite have that, but it was still very enjoyable. I also got tater tots, but to be honest, they weren’t really necessary – the burger alone was plenty filling. Service was excellent. The staff were attentive, upbeat, and clearly enjoying their work, which made for a great experience. Would I go back? Yes. It was a solid burger and a good overall experience.

Nice atmosphere and good options for meat, chicken and veggie eaters. Coca Cola mixer dispenser so you can choose whatever flavour you want.

Great smash burger, lovely staff

Great food. Smash fries are unreal. Quick attentive staff. Have to comment on the music - whoever is in charge of it is brilliant. Loads of proper 70’s funk, melodic hip hop, soul etc. I’m a soul/funk/disco DJ and I stayed longer because I wanted to hear what was next 😂

This was my first visit to smash burger, tbh I'd never heard of it but my teenage son liked the look of it so we gave it a go. It was the best burger I've ever had, no contest. I had the jalapeno hot burger and while it wasn't what I would call HOT, it was beautiful. Fresh jalapenos in the burger, until now I had only had pickled, which were delicious. The burger patty quality is exceptional, texture and seasoning was spot on. The bun was clearly grilled on the hot plate with butter or something, because it was perfectly golden brown. My son said the chocolate oreo milkshake was incredible as well. It's better than five guys. This has made our afternoon, best burgers we've ever eaten. Thanks Smash Burger!!!

Food looked great but just tasted average, spent nearly £40 my partner was sick after her food and I got sore stomach and go home for loo asap. The man who served us was really nice and friendly. I wouldn't recommend the food for the price first and last time I go

Called in here for dinner today with my daughter food was delicious 😋 havnt had a burger that nice in a long time and the fries are lush n crispy we both really enjoyed our food. The lass who served us was lovely very polite 😀 didn't wait long for our food and it was all fresh and hot.

Had a burger here , was full of fat and gristle , had to spit 4 pieces out, it’s meant to be a premium offering, very poor indeed. Complained and the staff just looked at each other like I was speaking a foreign language, manager eventually came over and said thanks for the feedback I’ll give you a refund, could do it then which is ridiculous and said it would go on my card in a few days, never did , chased him twice still no refund. Avoid , just a poor example of food sand customer service

Visitamos Smashburger antes de ir a ver un concierto. El proceso de pedido fue muy fácil con una buena selección de comidas y acompañamientos. Opté por la Hot Honey Bacon Cheeseburger. Hicimos el pedido en el mostrador de autoservicio y esperamos unos 10 minutos para que llegara la hamburguesa, que creo que es un gran giro alrededor del tiempo. La hamburguesa llegó y estaba caliente. Era una hamburguesa muy sabrosa, llena de sabor, también era muy jugosa. La miel caliente trajo un toque muy bienvenido de calor a la hamburguesa, nada abrumador, pero simplemente agradable. Creo que la hamburguesa podría haberse beneficiado de un poco de lechuga y cebolla, pero no eran opciones estándar. Bien merece una visita cuando en Eldon Square.

Food was average, took longer than would expect to get the food. Not sure I’d rush back, and there is plenty of options in the immediate vicinity too.

Good burger with fresh ingredients and very good fries with Italian herb seasoning. But the problem is the waiting time, more than 30 minutes for two veggie burgers and fries; they were good but didn't deserve such a wait. And the prices are quite high for good budgets but ultimately quite simple.

WHAT A SCAM!!! They promised free burgers until 5pm, but 'ran out' at 4pm. If they can't commit to their promise they shouldn't have said that the free burger voucher until 5pm. Absolutely horrible!

So I got a free burger reward at a student Freebie Fair. when i went to redeem it, it would only let me try get a Veggie Burger not the House Smash burger the offer detailed. Miffed i thought it was a tech issue. So I try again later today to find out the account I once had, with the offer doesn’t exist anymore. If you don’t want to give out free food, don’t. stop pretending to be a nice company if you’re not. update: manages to get into the account to find out the offer which i still don’t believe works properly is only available for 3 hours a day for 4 days. having to jump through hoops for a seemingly kind offer really tells you about how much the company actually cares

What a great combo! Burgers with churros! I always love pickles in my burger, along with lettuce and tomato. So yummy!

We had the best experience at smash burger! We arrived quite late but Steven was so nice and got us (a group of 7) our food very fast. The food was so tasty. The burgers were well prepared and the fries were so good and crunchy. I would truly recommend this place because of the good service (Steven is the nicest! He was so interested in us and we got some free fries as well) and the wonderful food as well!!

We came for a quick tea and the burgers were delicious and much nicer than other burger places. The ingredients were fresh and it was cooked to order, we’ll definitely go back. The staff were excellent and helped us through the whole process of ordering and provided a very friendly and helpful experience throughout.

My husband, daughter and myself came and had burgers today- the best burger ever! We were served/looked after by Donya who is a credit to the company. Very friendly, vibrant and bubbly personality who made our visit so enjoyable. Will definitely be back!

Food was decent but only half the order was delivered. Really disappointing. One of us had Fries without the burger & the other had a burger but no fries. Won’t order from here again. Not worth the risk if they can’t ensure the correct order is being sent out!

Good food. Burgers were flavourful, with a large enough variety for everyone to enjoy, but small enough for everything to be high quality. Had the Truffle Oklahoma and it was very scrummy.

Great service and food. Plenty of choice and ways to customise your food, the refillable drinks machine also had lots of flavours. It's more expensive than the big fast food burger chains but the quality of the food and service justify it. We were served by Steven, who made us feel really welcome, talked us through the options and made it a dining experience rather than grabbing a quick burger.

Ordered two burgers and chips, one burger didn’t arrive, the burger that did arrive wasn’t very warm.

Ordered on Uber eats, the create your own burger. Awful experience no compensation or anything. The burger, paid for salad in, sauce in, bacon in. The bacon was piece was a scrap of bacon, shocking. No salad or sauce at all, practically a cheese burger plain. Then Uber do not refund any money for smash burgers incompetence. Ordered a ranch with tater tots. Ranch never came. I would never order from here again although the women on the phone when I called back was nice and said she would contact Uber to try and get a resolution. Will wait for an update if I get one. Update got £3 back what a joke.

It’s alarming how much I think of this place. Cannot beat a good smash burger and the smash fries (tossed in olive oil and rosemary) are amazing. Overall, the service was quick, the food was good quality and the price was very reasonable.. I’ll definitely be back again to try the rest of the amazing menu (and the shakes!!)

I had the worst experience ever, i ordered 3 double cheeseburgers meals with free style drinks, there were no regular cola in the machine and the guy came to say there is no beef, we can give you chicken burgers instead, i told him i want to cancel my order and i am no longer want to eat here, he said the order can’t be cancelled because you already paid, i told him that i have the right to cancel since nothing i ordered was available. Then he said we can bring you beef burgers in 10 minutes, i said no i only want to cancel my order if you can make my order why would you offer me a chicken instead, the guy who was wearing black was very rude the way he was speaking to me, and asked me for my email to arrange a refund, he did not give me my money back. Please train your staff to be respectful towards the customers. Thank you

I went today with my family before the womans england match , the food was lovely and very tasty but the atmosphere was very disturbing. I had my young children with me and a member of staff shouting at other members ( I only assume he was a manager on shift) a bald man with glasses . I didn't catch his name nor would I like to know it , his behaviour in front of customers was appalling and it really let the face of smashburger down . To think they allow management to shout at staff members in such a way is terrible . A young girl probably just left school or in school roughly 16 to 17 cleaning and serving the customers looked like she was about to cry , if this was my daughter or close friends daughter I would not stand for it . He then continued to shout in the back at the staff preparing the food . If it's a bit more busy than usual a good manager would help the staff not stand there shouting . In my experience, it is never appropriate for a manager to shout at an employee in front of others, regardless of the situation. Such behavior can be highly damaging to the employee's self-esteem, morale, and productivity, and can create a toxic work environment that negatively impacts the entire team. It's crucial for managers to maintain a professional demeanor at all times, and to address any issues or concerns with employees in a respectful and constructive manner which this manager failed to do . This not only fosters a positive and productive work culture, but also helps to build trust and rapport between managers and their team members. I suggest you retrain your mangers and show him how to approach the staff on shift . We come to your restaurant a lot and espically on match days but I think this abuse we witnessed has changed my mind about the restaurant and we will be dining else where on Monday for the next match . I hope when I do return the managers on shift act and treat the staff with a bit more respect . I have also emailed them but I'm sure they won't take any notice of my email or review

Come with my son who is Coeliac I'm not. Staff very helpful and very understanding can't fault them. Made all customer feel welcoming when they entered. Wish more places for GF like here. Food 100% lovely and mouthwatering 🤤. Definitely will be back again.

Went here for the first time yesterday with my mother, and I will say the food was really good. I really enjoyed it and may have to consider visiting here again in the future. The staff also made us feel welcomed with excellent customer service.

Had a lovely meal at this place with my other half but whilst I do appreciate they specialise in burgers I wish there had been better cutlery for those of us that didn’t want to eat with our hands. The knife and fork I was offered were disposable and were about as sharp as a bath sponge

I didn't think the burgers were good value for money at all. Ok in terms of quality, although the meat was over cooked a little. Can't go higher than a 2 as I've had far better at more reasonable prices.
