Great place to go for a few drinks before heading off to the tyne theatre (next door)..plenty of beverages to choose from and nice atmosphere with nice staff.

A fantastic, brilliantly priced series of pints inside the splendidly refurbished and welcoming boozer. Plenty of charm and a devoted staff diligently manning the pumps and clearing the tables, very impressed.

If you're particular about the beers you're drinking? Pay this place a visit, great choice of cask, keg, bottles, cans. You'll definitely find a beer to enjoy here & I'm a difficult Bugga to please🍺

Canny little place staff are great

First time for me at this Good Beer Guide entry in 2024. An old trad exterior but has been completely refurbished inside. Always appreciate when the barman pulls the beer standing in the pipes overnight off before serving resulting in an excellent pint. TNT Sports on the screens, Smooth music on in the background. Charging points dotted around.

We didn't eat but enjoyed a few drinks. The atmosphere was great. Everyone was polite and friendly. Staff have great customer service skills

Always amazing. Remember when it was a cheese and pate bar. We moved away and 25 ago and whenever we are back in the toon we have to go there. The beer is always amazing with superb choices and rare beers. The staff are so welcoming. Just great.

I've visited this bar many times and will continue to do so. My favourite real ale, Titanic Plum Porter was being served, so had to call in. Great bar, great staff and well kept real ales. Highly recommended!

Loads of choice. Standard beers you'd get everywhere to local craft beers which you won't have tried before. Friendly crowd where you can go with mates or turn up by yourself and have a chat with some randoms.

This bar is a hidden gem. I've passed by many times and happenstance dictated that i went in. I can't judge too much as I only stopped in for a quick couple. I didn't have any food other than some warm pork scratchings. Which were delicious by the way! Atmosphere, was really calm and chilled for a busy central bar, which was refreshing for a busy Saturday afternoon. The beer selection is phenomenal, ales galore. A quick couple for me quickly became a conundrum but I managed to settle for a brown ale (can't quite remember the brewery as there was so many!) But that was a lovely problem to have, and the beer top notch. Next time, I'm staying, and trying all of them!!! Maybe some proper food too.

Nice pint of Guinness, best I've found in Newcastle, temperature could be cooler tho. 2 boys were friendly chaps inside the bar, overall nice spot. Toilets were clean and place was spotless

Cool, nerdy, excited staff. Wild wolfhounds. Back room still without a purpose when people just want to sit in it. I love pate and cheese. I never had time for the pate and cheese room. Unless you are on a bet to match drinks on withnail and i the cinema room didnt work. Nobody played darts when i was in. I dont think they will? Maybe it could just be seats. Just a thought...

Stopped off before and after a gig at the Tyne theatre.Nice atmosphere very friendly efficient staff.Made my wife's night when I think they call him Brin came over as I was holding merch from the gig to tell us Mark Chadwick was in the bar , he then asked one of the staff to get a marker pen so we could get our merch signed .Made a fabulous night that bit more special.Thankyou.

Brilliant pub for football. Possibly the most efficient bar staff ever. Watched the Cup Final here and it was rammed, but you were never waiting more than a couple of minutes to be served and for most rounds it was instant. Highly recommended.

Only started going in recently. I have to say the service you receive is spot on, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the Beers/Ales they serve. The selection of drinks available is plentiful, you will always be able to find something you like. I love it and will certainly be back very soon.

Cool, laid back spot. It seems like a good place to watch sports - they had soccer on the TVs with the volume up the evening I was there.

Much needed TV's now in there but plastic glasses no need for then hardly a holigan bar
