Lovely pub grub with a warm welcome on a damp autumn night. With a pint of my favourite bitter - Timothy Taylor's! And my wife's chips were amazing - local potatoes was the secret. A shame she only spared me a couple!!

Absolutely fabulous Sunday lunch. The quality of the food was outstanding and had equally as good service. Lovely rural pub, very welcoming, will definitely return very soon.

Popped in for a quick lunch. We went on a Sunday so the menu is slightly more restricted. I ordered the chicken schnitzel and my husband had the fish cake. Both dishes came out quickly and were clearly freshly cooked and homemade. The chicken in particular was full of flavour. Really impressed overall with the food and speed of service.

We ate here last night. The service was welcoming. The staff are amazing and the food is never. Never below amazing. The pino grigo was perfect with my chicken schnitzel. Live band on - they were great. Beer is always perfect. Truly well run pub Karl Faye Kasey & Kyle. See you again soon!

We had a really lovely Sunday lunch here today. 5 of us in total. We had 3 meals from the Main menu a Chicken Roast and a Vegan Roast. All our main meals were really good 👌 We then ordered 3 Desserts which were equally as good ( The Vegan Cherry Sunday with coconut ice-cream and waffles was delicious) Lovely friendly staff and nice relaxing atmosphere. We will return and recommend 👍

Bank holiday thought we’d go local. Rosie was a delight and welcomed us with a smile. She was let down by what seemed to be senior female staff who didn’t acknowledge us, think they were having their own party behind the bar. Waited so long we upped and left … shame as the food on table nearly looked great

Lovely spot, easy to access by car and on foot if you live close enough. Acton Bridge railway station next door. We were glad to see the pub opened at 12 on the Sunday we were walking past. We simply stopped for a drink each and sat at the picnic tables outside the front, where there was a lovely umbrella at the table. We could see a garden with tables at the rear, but didn't stay long enough. Hubby was served promptly. Maybe we are being a bit mean knocking a star off for the price of the drinks, perhaps this is the general cost...if it is then I can see why pubs are having to close the doors in the current financial climate, though I hear good things about food. We had one drink each, a small coca cola with ice and a pint of old Mout cider, the total was £8.95, you have to judge yourself if that is a feasible night out for you. The bar staff asked 'same again' when hubby put the empty glasses on the bar, at almost £18 to stay for a 2nd drink it had to be a 'no thanks' from us, pleasant though it was.

We booked a table for 8 people on a busy Sunday afternoon. The staff had reserved us a large table on its own in a little area on its own. It was superb. The staff were attentive and friendly. Quickly offered everyone a drink and took our food order, once everyone had chosen their meal options. Food was delicious, as always. With everyone eating every morsel. Most people chose the Sunday lunch. We requested extra gravy and this came without a fuss or charge.

Having Sunday lunch with the family arriving at the Restaurant /Pub had to find our own table no staff were available; sat for a while no one came to serve us, went to the bar to be told some one will be with you, no one came, having to go to the counter my self and get the menu and wine list; eventually some one came asking us what do we need to order, asking is this only two serving on a Sunday she confirmed adding another 4 are coming at 15:00; the food arrived the fish was dry and leathery I do not recommend this place for anything; 15:00 arrived the extr staff sat on the bar drinking !!

This is a beautiful country pub that has just reopened after a refurbishment done to a very high standard. There's a lovely beer garden and an undercover sitting area with heaters if you are chilly. Dogs are made to feel welcome in the boot room where there's even little doggy treats. Our meal was outstanding, food beautifully presented, served by friendly staff and was very reasonably priced. It was lovely to relax with a drink after such a great meal lapping up the friendly atmosphere. You could tell the owners are very dedicated, and couldn't do enough to ensure you enjoy your visit. I wish we lived closer as I would definitely make this my local can't wait to return.

We have friends who live locally and have recently had two meals there that were very good, so we arranged to go out with them for a meal.We arrived at the pub at about eight o'clock on a Saturday night without prior booking because they do not take bookings. It had been some years since we had been to the pub and was shocked to see this old building now half painted dark 'Battleship grey'It was quite busy but managed to find a table straight away, we ordered a bottle of wine and asked for menus, the bar staff said they would bring them over to the table, 15 mins later we had to ask again for the wine and menus, which were still on the bar where the bar staff had left them 15 mins earlier, 'Good start'.The table next to us was empty, and one of the waitresses came out with a plate of food but the customers who had ordered the food had given up and were in the process of leaving the pub, the manager came out to apologise saying that they had been busy, the customers declined the meal and the meal and left, five mins. later a second waitress appeared with another plate of food for the same table, she obviously not been told of the cancellation.About 15 mins. later another couple called for the Manager to complain about their meal, the starter was late, when the main meal of steak arrived it was very dry, they were offered a replacement and a reduction but declined and leftWithin ten mins. another couple got up and left as a result of a long wait for their meal, this caused argument which resulting in them leaving separately. We ordered our meals, we were told that there was a 30 min. wait because they were busy, 1Hr 20 min. later they arrived. My steak pie was 'warm' and lacked steak pieces, it resembled tinned meat, the jug of gravy was weak & watery and a different colour to the gravy in the pie, my wife had ordered a 'medley of fresh veg' with her meal which arrived as a bowl of sliced carrots topped with parsley, we complained about the description and this was knocked off the bill and was blamed on being very busy. My wife's Balotine chicken did not have any veg with it at all but bizzarly found just one pea in the sauce, my wife's friend who also had the chicken found one small piece of broccoli in her sauce! It is a great shame that it is the staff who will bear the brunt of complaints for poor management/organisation and food quality at this pub, they will loose custom very rapidly to other establishments nearby who do offer outstanding food and service despite being very busy, you cannot afford this type of poor service in this industry, word travels very fast. We won't be revisiting!

We stayed for 2 nights. Stayed in a converted barn. Front door didn't fit so let in the cold all night. Place was very cold. Heating should of been put on low before guest arrive. Don't touch the tv controls as they are really dirty. They don't refill the tea, coffee stuff or put clean cups out. They give you 2 bottles of water only which we used for the kettle We had to ask for more milk as 4 sachets isn't enough. We run out of toilet roll as we only had the roll left from last guests. So had to find a staff member for more. No small rolls just massive one. Bed needs a new mattress as can feel the base. Whole room needs a really good clean. We had dinner the the pub. They gave me gluten free fish and chips and onion rings. Was really nice Saturday we had the same. But shock to find out that they cooked my gluten free food in a mixed frier. The young girl was told by the chef to let me know. Yes I was GLUTENED. Wasn't told on Friday night about the frier. Chef needs to understand what gluten can do to a celiac. YES IT CAN CAUSE CANCER. so celiac UK will be informed so other guests don't eat there and become ill. We went to another hotel in school lane for breakfast as they cater for gluten-free. Maybe put the old inner door back on in the room to keep the room warmer.

Extremely disappointed tonight which is unusual as we really enjoyed going before refurbishing. Food was not good a all. 3 cheese burgers one plain and 2 with one piece of lettuce and a chunk of onion. The fries on all three plates were overcooked. The onion rings were overcooked although we did eat some. The carvery was nice except for pigs on blankets as they had been left under heat lamp far to long inedible. The fried chicken sandwich was tasty.but again fries overcooked. The young lady gave me a box to bring the full burger home to put in the bin. This is unusual so not sure if they changed the chief or they were having a bad day. Tripped over the side of the chair and hurt my leg and informed the young lady it was a safety issue she said she would inform the manager but didn’t take steps to remove the hazard. ( not sure yellow and black hazard tape is adequate if it’s covered by the arm of the chair that’s broke ?) this time wasn’t value for money and we left feeling dissatisfied. Felt like they just couldn’t be bothered . Sad really as we have loved eating here 😔
