Everything was there for a successful stay: comfort, cleanliness, kindness.

Very busy pub. Service was very good. Tables were cleaned and cleaned very quickly

This a Wetherspoons public. House food drinks very very low priced not to be beaten

Must of been a potatoes famin was quite stingy on the chips but other than that food was good

Haven't used the hotel so can't comment on that. But food, service and atmosphere are good value for money.

Cheep(er than most places) booze any time day or night!

We wanted a place that was close to the canal pretty Central this pub ticked the box. We spent 1 night and that also included free refillable tea and coffee which we also used with breakfast. 1 large and 1 small English all for under £10. Love spoons chicken wings.

Yet again I got food before my drink, offered the manager if he got me another drink on the house it would do, unfortunately he said a 16 minute wait is normal after you had eaten your food, 1 star

Tacky dirty ladies miles away from bar . Food just about edible

30 years ago this was the place to go. Stopped here recently for an English breakfast which was duly paid for at the bar upon ordering. You are given a mug which you can take to the tea/coffee machine for unlimited refills which sounds great except for the fact that you have to queue again for one of the three machines of which none work. Everyone in the queue was complaining it’s been this way for weeks. Several waitresses were trying to fix/reset the machines to no avail so I asked her if she could boil a kettle for people just to be told ‘above my pay scale’. I then noticed an a4 hand written notice that said ‘due to technical problems eggs will scrambled not fried’. Eventually breakfast arrives - small amount of powdered scrambled eggs, one mushroom, cold hash brown, cold beans, lukewarm bacon and 2x nuclear hot sausages. I told the waitress to take it away and replace it (and anyone who knows me will tell you I’m not a fussy eater) or at the very least reheat it to which I was told they can’t do that. Absolutely disgusting food. Absolutely atrocious service. This place is an absolute insult to the catering industry.

Great spot for a cheap eat, was here for breakfast and for the price it didn't disappoint - family friendly, spacious and affordable.

Nice pub, shame staff weren't very helpful. Forgot part of our order. Asked a male staff member about it but 15 mins later...nothing, pretty sure he didn't even bother to ask. Got our money back in the end as we'd finished our meals.

Very good place for a quick bite even though it is a pub.

The most lovely place in Newbury with cheap prices and grub. One of the better Wetherspoons in the south. You get what you expect and what you pay for. Plenty of seating and a great outside garden. Another bonus - nice selection of IPAs.

Family of 4, we were going to spend evening eating and drinking here but for some strange reason the chap behind the said I could not have my drink in another glass other than the one he said! And was very dismissive and rude! Needless to say we did not eat here and never will. Very disappointed.

I have been for drinks but not for lunch until few weeks ago. I had the new dish from the menu...Korean chicken with rice, it really looks mouth watering and it is absolutely divine. It is in the town centre, close to the other restaurants and bars and a short walk to the train station. The prices and portions are good, I paid for mine around £8.50, which is a very good price with a soft drink included and if you want alcoholic drink will be around 10.50. Definitely come back and highly recommend. Thank you!

One night stay at hotel on our way to Brighton. Excellent mid week deal on the room. Cheap overnight parking just across the road, pleasant check in with courteous staff, clean comfortable room with generous complimentary tea/coffee, and to top it all off, lovely pub located on the high street. Top job Wetherspoons!

Spoons is my go to lunch place now .

Great location for the races ,our room was exceptional and house keeping was excellent. Only downside was the noise which you would expect being above a bar .Would stay here again .

I had lunch. I had to wait longer as they brought me the wrong order. Staff pleasant. The rear end was busy and open plan, the front end cosier but only high stools available so not as cosy as I would have liked. Would return.

Usual standard of food, service was slow compared to most Wetherspoons, despite it not being busy. Full of teenagers.

The table I chose was a sort of ash/pine type, stained I think but I'm no expert on these matters. I have a friend who is employed as a cabinet maker whose expertise I will call upon this Thursday. Pending his decision, I will put my money on pine. Great pub!

It's a Wetherspoon so you know what you're generally getting: meh. However I had a foul love-in-a-canoe coffee out of the machine which I suspect hasn't been properly cleaned for a week, while all the white teenage non-bar staff stood around shrieking at each other and jobs weren't getting done. Bit poor. Coffee's been repeating on me for 2 hours and doesn't improve with digestion.

Large busy pub, staff very friendly and service very good despite being busy. Prices very competitive as you would expect from Weatherspons. Only slight downside no free parking in the vacinity. Will definitely visit again, didn't have food on this occasion but had a quick look at the menu which seemed to offer a good selection of "Pub Grub" at reasonable prices.

You cannot beat weatherspoons for value on breakfast! We each had the large breakfast with extra black pudding. Very nice. The only downside was that the coffee machine was broken. Good value beer too!

Relatively quiet on Friday evening, nice outdoor seating in the sun

It’s early and breakfast time so the atmosphere is subdued. Freedom Breakfast this morning was nicely cooked and arrived in 5 minutes. Also £2.99 today rather than £4.45 as advertised. Not complaining it was cheaper! One of the nicer Spoons you’ll find.

The food was lovely however the plates were just launched at the table by the sewing staff. Steaks had been ordered and cooked differently but not identified when served.

Nice looking pub that felt a little grubby and dated. It gets a little noisey, but it's a spoons so to be expected. Not bad price, ordering from the app easy enough. Most of the staff are friendly, and the odd one had an attitude. Toilets are a major letdown, possibly the worst maintained toilets that I've had the displeasure of using, think trainspotting toilet.

We sat on the market place on a summers day and it was bliss. The staff were friendly and brought us our order from the app as I'm too lazy a sod to walk up to the bar. Really liked it here.

we would like to leave a review for the very lovely Sandra (hoping we have there name right) who gave us amazing customer service, she really is an asset to your company and is a great example of what customer service should be. we will be 100% back again.

While I appreciate this a budget pub chain, and it hits many buttons really well, there are some constructive criticisms which are probably personal therefore subjective, like any opinion. We had the breakfast, the bacon was almost raw, too much cold chewy toast, no option for fried bread. Otherwise excellent value for money. Fast food service as you'd expect, not a bad brekkie

Always a friendly experience and value for money DONT like some of the piss heads who think they can disturb MY Visit which tbh staff should be on. Making sure some piss heads DONT ANNOY those out for a meal and quiet friendly experience THOSE WHO DO UPSET MY MEAL WILL WISH THEY HADN'T ...

I came in to finish the day watching England play in the Euro Cup. Traditional draft beer, Kopperberger cider on tap, onion rings and chicken wings. All very well. Nothing to object. Good location, nice waiters, acceptable kitchen time, although considering it was full, it could be considered fast. The atmosphere of people was quite good. I suppose the price was normal, although for Spanish prices, everything seems expensive in the United Kingdom. Anyway, what a very good place!

Absolutely shocking service,I mean, I know it's a weatherspoons, but even a basic level of customer service would be appreciated. The server made it very clear and didn't want to serve us as he wanted to be somewhere else. When mentioned to senior the response was I am sorry but that is why I am leaving this company.So not much hope I am afraid.

In a great spot in the square, centre of town. Booked 2 x twin rooms for me and 3 friends months in advance, but when we booked in, they had allocated 2 x double bed rooms. I like my mates, but not that much !! They had nothing else to offer, so had to spend a very uncomfortable night. They did reimburse the cost of 1 x room, which gave us some nice drinking money in the bar. Anybody with a disability would struggle staying here as the stairs are very steep and narrow, plus we were on the top floor. Rooms are small but adequate. Overall, not the best experience I have ever had. Can't comment on food as we didn't eat there.

Going downhill rapidly since Kyle was promoted to NW London. Foul mouthed loud staff more interested in hiding out the back chatting and texting than serving. Beware additional screens showing sport about to be installed. Just given up eating here…….

Good food. Very busy pub. Service only average but it was not the fault of the staff Too little staff to cope with the influx of customers. Tables weren't cleared. Clients clearing and wiping their own tables.

The one star is given because it’s mandatory to leave a review, otherwise I wouldn’t. I’ve since moved and so glad I don’t have to put up with the personalities of some people working there. There’s nothing keeping people in here except cheap drinks. But nothing will change.

Very busy. Tables were not being cleared and some had no chairs as they'd been moved to others. Longer than expected wait for food ordered on the app. Drinks came after the food.

Fantastic Pub/Hotel. Rooms Spotless cleaned every day. Pub side, great food, great beers, and a very large range of spirits. The staff are very polite. Mind you, it is Wetherspoons. Top Class.

Popped in with a friend for a breakfast, nice vegan breakfast for me and unlimited coffee at a great price...

Just popped in for a quick pint on a Tuesday afternoon so maybe not a wholly accurate assessment. Bar service was fine, attentive. My pint of Wainwright was very good. There were a mixture of tourists and locals in there and the building is large and spacious. Just felt like a typical wetherspoons so no issues there!

A much liked wetherspoons used by all generations. Nice vibe inside.

Felt really welcumed as I walk into the building the staff are very nice and polite aswell as being able to have a joke and a laugh I will say there's a absolute beaut who works there I think there name is Timmy or something kinda looks like the guy from the beetles 🥵

Packed on a Saturday night as you would expect. We used the app to get food and drink, this was much quicker than standing at the bar! Staff were friendly as well.

Have always liked this Wetherspoons great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Had a bit of a mix up with the m al in the beginning but no problems staff more than helpful. Had the lemon and herb chicken with peas and chips rather than mash (milk intolerance) never had this before and I’m so glad I did. I have been to other restaurants that have charged double the price and this definitely beat them. Chicken was succulent not a bit dry well done complements to the chef 😃

It's big and SUPER cheap, for beer near £2 a pint, where others are near £6 it's the place. Food also surprisingly good. Not much atmosphere, but hey its super cheap.

Food was awful cheese and tomato panni minus the cheese onion bajee burnt and samosa so hard you coulnt bite in to it chicken burger was not very nice nobody asked us if food was ok at any point table only cleared once we started leaving still was not asked if food was ok

Bit disappointed today as couldn't order children's meal x4 choices tried. Settled for small plate from main menu. Which worked OK. As we were leaving the delivery truck was unloading so perhaps due to items being out of stock. Still good value for money & great service. Will go again - just unlucky timing today.

Lovely pub near the Wharf in Newbury. The usual excellent Spoon's fare and ales, always busy even loads of people just having a (bottomless) coffee !

Very good choice of food and excellent value for money

We stayed in the cottage at the Hatchet Inn. Check in was quick and easy although we did have to walk through the whole busy pub, up the stairs check in then back out again. The cottage itself was beautiful! All exposed beams, really big room with sofa, table and chairs and huge bathroom. Heating worked well so wasn't cold. My only complaint was bed was quite hard and the quilt tiny! I thought it would be really noisy with basically staying in the pub garden but the secondary glazing meant we wasn't disturbed. The pub was busy but it was a Saturday night, despite this our food and drink orders from the app was served quickly. All the staff was busy, yet friendly and efficient. Will definitely come back.

Fantastically run Wetherspoons. Stayed in the rooms upstairs too which were great value @ £56 for the night. Clean, comfortable and had everything I required. Very friendly staff too.
