Been ordering from here for a couple of years always told no we don’t do halal meat as I won’t touch it just went to order and was told yes our meat is halal so will now be reporting to trading standards for false advertising 😡😡😡disgusting

Such a nice place to eat. The Sunday buffet is always spot on.

Had the buffet with a friend so many Indian restaurants claim to be number one This isn’t even in the top 20. Food was okay nothing amazing took ages to get popadums and a twenty minute wait for the bill place didn’t look the cleanest either won’t be returning if there was a zero star option for service I would give it!

Good, old school service. Food is good, some plates were excelent, others were good.

Went here for the buffet. The food was good curry was spicy and meat was tender when you could find any. Bit of a strange set up being a pub with and Indian restaurant in it. The buffet is laid out in the bar with locals sat drinking next to it. The place itself could do with a freshen up. Has a large garden area and plenty of parking.

Fantastic dining been going about 6 years now every Friday cannot fault it if you haven't been your missing out out on a great food experience keep it up boy's see you next week 😀

Cold plates,cold dishes hence cold food ,can’t stand food in cold dishes and cold plates plus waiter brought out one dish at a time.

Not impressed, booked online as a large party in advance, arrived and they had to set the tables up, then moved us due to the set up blocking of another area, food available in Buffett was limited waited 10 minutes for 2 of the Currys. Staff slow and manager very rude when it came to pay, kept banging on about his £7k electric bill, blah blah blah- that is 12 people that will not be returning

Nice food and the staff were pleasant and accommodating, but not very visible during the meal to order more drinks etc. Not a complaint, just an observation. We had a lovely afternoon.

Had the Sunday eat all you can buffet and enjoyed it. One slight criticism, because it was really good, is that the meat curries on offer were chicken, whereas I prefer lamb. There were good vegetarian options available too. Will definitely go back

We travelled 80 miles for this experience. What a shambles! We took a party of 13 for the Sunday Buffet, all looking forward to dining for the first time at Berkshire’s award winning Indian Restaurant 🤣 The staff were mostly ignorant to our presence and tried their hardest not to be helpful. No regular attendance to check our drinks requirements, no ability to remember, (twice) a request for jugs of water. No ability to deliver liqueur coffees that had been ordered, without another reminder. No ability to use a calculator and add the bill up correctly. The food, (outstandingly average), is almost immaterial. The staff service in a service industry, struggling to keep it’s head above water nationally, a sad representation of customer care. I don’t like being negative in a review, but My Mother’s 85th birthday celebration was totally spoilt by this experience. Needless to say 13 people will never return. Good luck in improving your business. Perhaps you had an off day, but not everyone on the same day, surely.

I've been having a takeaway for many years at this place I ordered tonight and the person was not very nice I have a meal maybe 2 to 3 times a week and buddy allways gives me a good price but this person tonight was not having none of it so sorry buddy your food is out of this world but I won't be spoken to one of your staff like they own the place I will look some where else

The food was really sad and not tasty at all. Portion size of the starter was disappointing (3 pieces of Paneer tikka) and without any condiments or even a slice of lemon. We ordered the chilli chicken masala which wasn't good at all, the chicken was cooked but the gravy was way too oily, very runny and tasteless. The saving grace was poppadom and the store bought chutney. For the price they charge, they should atleast ensure the quality and taste of the food. Not going back again.

No way is this the best in Berkshire. Very average food. My dish did not have enough sauce. The ratio of meat to sauce resulted in a very dry meal.

Had a very nice meal, food very good, service very bad, seem to concentrate on takeaway rather than customers dining in, need to separate takeaway and dining in, delivery people watching you eat, need dedicated staff for restaurant and takeaway,

On a quiet Monday evening we had a brilliant meal at The Burghfield Spices . Great service, welcoming atmosphere, excellent food, you can always tell a good Indian restaurant by the quality of the onion bhajee, crispy on the outside, cooked and soft in the middle. Our main courses were really tasty and good portion size. Highly recommended.

As a party of 4 adults we had lunch on 25th September - our first visit to the restaurant. We were the only patrons although there were a few men in the bar . Food was delicious, fresh and hot and the waiter was attentive but seemed a little somber and nervous. The only negative factor was that the restaurant area smelt of toilet disinfectant and unless the seating for lunch is located elsewhere we certainly don't look forward to returning. The choice of menu was excellent because it covered a variety of dishes to suit everyone's palate.

Ordered takeout online and received email stating delivery at 7.35pm. Ordered at 6.50pm. Its now 8.10pm and I've just called to see where they are 🤷‍♀️ to be told very quickly... We're very busy and it's going to be another 15/29 mins... I understand busy but the lack of communication was poor and not very helpful 😕 1st time customer 😔 let's hope the wait is worth it ? Received order around 8.30pm The food was ok but have had better 🤷‍♀️ Won't be using again 😔

Friends encouraged us to try this takeaway instead of out other favoured local restaurant, stating everything was so fresh, so for our once a month Friday night treat we decided to give it a go. I wish we had just ordered from our reliable trusted restaurant. Poppadum's were rancid and inedible, clearly VERY old fat in the fryer. Pappads were burnt. Mint sauce was watered down so split, the mango chutney was sugary water, also watered down. The Onion salad has very little coriander, no mint and tough. The Nann was undercooked, chewy and insipid, the Tikka Balti had sliced chicken not cubed, but the Tikka Masala had cubed chicken? I have no idea what went wrong, but it was to such an extent I will never ever be ordering again.

Reasonable prices for a buffet , food is replaced quickly and all fresh . Most dishes were spicy but I managed on the chicken korma and pilau rice which was yummy . There is no desert here just a main meal but none the less great for couples and families.

Buffet was lovely, good vareity of food available although all dishes were either chicken or veggie. Service was slow with no one visiting our table for 20 minutes after we were seated. Drinks were also slow considering we ordered 3 cokes and they took a further 20 minutes to arrive. Service aside, the buffet is excellent value for money.

Buddy the owner is an exceptional host. Buddy goes above and beyond to make your meal enjoyable. The food is the best authentic meal we have had in reading. There are special evenings with Elvis Mike Mova who has a brilliant voice and entertains all.

Thought we would try a new takeaway and will not be going back. First off they tried to overcharge me. When I pointed this out, they went away and reassured me the bill was correct, however I had to show them using a calculator with the menu at the bar and they then agreed to change the bill. When we got home, I was amazed at how small the portions were for both the starters and mains especially considering the cost. The food was pretty bland. There are a couple of other nearby Indian restaurants that are much tastier with bigger portions all for virtually the same price.

This place is on my list of local Indian Restaurants. I like to get a variety and try not to go to the same place all the time. This includes quality of food, service and price comparison. Very nice attentive owner, I enjoy our chats. On this visit, the food as always was very nice. Thanks.

The restaurant is one half of what looks like a pub (Hatch Gate Inn). Delicious food and outstanding, friendly service. The Papadoms were crispy, tasty and served with a variety of sauces. I enjoyed the mango chutney the most. The Tandoori chicken didn't seem to be marinated, was slightly over-cooked, and seemed more like grilled chicken but everything else was delicious. I had the Khori Gosht for the first time and it was delicious; tender lamb in a delicious curry sauce, with onions - not too spicy at all - just yummy.

Visited for the 1st time on a Sunday for the Indian buffet. Food was nice however it was very busy and they seemed to run out of the dishes very quickly and it top a long time to replace them so felt a bit stop start. The pub does need a bit of work to bring it up to a nice standard (painting, loose table and chairs, toilets need upgrading, etc). I prefer other Indian restaurants for a Sunday buffet.

Great curry with huge selection, plus some house specials. Super busy in the restaurant and take aways, so service slightly slow. But really good.

I honestly keep forgetting about this place. It was only because of a leaflet through the door that reminded me about it. Nice friendly staff and reasonably priced. You'll need the WiFi, as mobile phone coverage is rubbish all around that area, obviously not the restaurants fault.

What an embarrassing family meal! We invite family over to celebrate a birthday and we could not believe what we had walked into! Deceitful photos online showing the restaurant atmosphere gave us false excitement. Very much a makeshift type of restaurant, however the food was 6/10. Will not be returning, would recommend investing money into opening a more roomy appropriate restaurant, the place is just claustrophobic, dark and dirty!

Ate here last night 3rd February 2023. If you like Indian food with good, quality ingredients, but the majority of it being zero flavour, hardly to no seasoning or spices then this is the place for you. When placing the order we made waiter aware of how spicy we like Indian food. Between the two of us we ordered Pappdoms = 2 spices and 2 plain. Plain ones weren't freshly fried. Tasted old. Mains : SB Lamb - Am told seasoned ok, but could have been spicer, King Prawn Dhansk - no spices or any flavour. Really bland. Sides - Tarka Dal and Bhindi Bhajee = both tasteless, not even salt Peshwari Naan - Nice and fluffy Pilau Rice and Vegetable Rice On the plus side - The Service was Very Friendly and the food was hot. Would i eat here again - No. We like food with flavour and spicy like home cooked Indian food. However, by the time we left the restaurant was packed so it is popular and there appeared to be a lot of regulars.

Worst take away ever. Order was wrong, fair enough mistakes happen, told the driver who phoned the restaurant. Rather than apologising and correcting the mistake, they argued with me and accused me of lying! I had to ask their driver to confirm what I was saying. After 15 / 20 mins they realised they had made a mistake, so swapped the curries over with the other person that received my curry, a quick sorry and that was that. Food wasn't any good and naan stone cold and soggy. This is the 2nd bad experience as went to the restaurant in the summer and almost walked out because of the bad service. Will not be giving a 3rd chance.

First restaurant we tried on our visit to England from South Africa and honestly some of the best Indian food I've eaten. My experience was bitter-sweet and think it would be best to order take-outs as the service is next to nothing. You can wait hours before waiter asks your next drink/meal. Very cosy atmosphere much like a small pub-vibe. The owner and staff are friendly Food - exceptional! quality/fresh ingredients, sizable portions and every dish was well-presented and very tasty Menu - is a bit confusing but the waiters are knowledgeable Doggy/bags / takeaway - well packaged. Good value for money.

Tried this place for a take away for the first time and let’s just say we won’t be going back there again. Ordered a butter chicken and it was like a soup with oil just sitting all at the top of rib and the chicken was like the cheap packs of cooked sliced chicken you get from your super market! The tikka sauce was far from a tikka sauce and the chicken was as I would describe it bitty. The only good part was the chicken madras but that’s probably because it was so hot I couldn’t taste anything else! So disappointed! Don’t waste your money here.

Excellent yet again we ordered the delivery service last night for our night in watching a film, all the food was cooked to perfection. We were given a time slot for a our free delivery our driver was early we throughly enjoyed our meals.we will order again soon.

We tried the take away service this weekend, after they advertised that they delivered to our village. The food was okay but one order was missing a dish (chicken and chips - no chicken!) and the food was cold by the time it reached us....

After putting our regular favourite Indian take away and delivery from baughurst on repeat dial at 6.30pm on Saturday, after trying 50 times to call, we gave up. And googled Indian delivery services near us. Burghfield spices popped up, so we thought we’d give them a try. Phone answered instantly. Order placed, and we waited.... The food delivered was correct to what we ordered, tasty, plentiful and lovely - so much, the four of us eating the food felt we ought to phone and compliment the chef and service, with the decision we need to eat in next time too! I always order an extra couple of dishes (and we really eat loads too, breads, 10 popadoms, pickles.... starters and mains) so that there is enough for another lunch or light dinner, and there is plenty left over for that! Well happy with the amount of food!!! Highly recommended - and we are fussy! Oh yes, and a complimentary bottle of house wine (which was also very drinkable) - as we placed a ‘big’ order (£60). Burghfield spices you have new regular customers!

This is our local curry house and we love it, as do our friends. The food is tasty and the staff friendly. The sizzling dishes always look amazing. They have plenty of outside seating and also offer a delivery service. Highly recommended.

Hot & tasty meal delivered to the house. There was nothing amiss at all & every dish was tasty. The usual prices for this area.

We ordered from here after reading good reviews on google and facebook, unfortunately we were left pretty disappointed. The lamb rogan josh was pretty flavourless and very watery. The chicken korma was okay but the actual chicken was very dry. We ordered pilau rice but it tasted like plain rice and we were given two onion salads instead of a mint yoghurt. The naan itself was okay but needed more salt and garlic. Overall not a great experience and will probably choose a different curry house next time.
