Eating in was brilliant a few years ago. Everything you wanted. Takeaways we're just as good, but lately standards have dropped and I feel I have to say my piece. As a loyal customer who rated this place as the best around Newbury and spent my hard earned money trusting a restaurant and chef who knew their food, today was the last straw. You have had my business for years and when my address popped up on your order sheet I expect no less than what I've paid for over the years. I ordered a lamb jalfrezi. It arrived. It said lamb lafrezi on the tin. I opened, and it was chicken. I gave the benefit of doubt, maybe ur busy. But on a wednsday? I opened and only 3 bits of meat. Sorry to say, you have lost my custom. And if your chefs want to know how to cook it properly visit my curry channel nordic spice on youtube and I will happily come their and give a lesson. Very sad to see this with this place, but unfortunately won't be ordering again

Takeaway night.. undecided which restaurant or in fact style of food we wanted, In the end we chose Indian, and revisited one of our old favourites, haven’t been for a while, but glad we did. Food was delicious, nice and hot when we got it home.

Visited June 12th to a very warm welcome , started with popadoms and the usual salad and chutney beer was nice and cold and hit the mix starter which was to die for and then on to the lamb tikka jalfrezi with keema rice was was superb !

Always used to be the best curry house in town. Sadly most recent collection wasn’t as memorable. Chicken was very dry, sauce relatively bland and mix kebab starter disappointing. Bread was cold and and didn’t taste fresh. Seekh kebabs were lovely, good amount of salad and mint sauce but everything tasted like it was made half an hour before. Will try again in a few months maybe

The service is good and attentive but I didn't like being crammed next to other people, when there was space elsewhere. My goan fish curry was fairly bland but didn't have enough fish in tbh.

Visited Saturday 24th February @ 8pm the restaraunt was busy but not noisy we was seated promptly and drinks ordered.The starters were exceptional and when the mains came they were delicious !

It was a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was packed. The service was prompt and courteous despite the number of diners. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. Although the restaurant was busy it was not noisy. Altogether a great experience for my first time there and I will go again. If you live in ornear Newbury and like this sort of tasy, spicey food, the Indigo Bay is the place to visit. Highly recommended

Really lovely evening dinner! My hubs and my first visit. We popped in on the spur of the moment whilst we were waiting for our kids who were at a local club. The staff were so warm and welcoming when we arrived. We got served really quickly and the papadum starters with sauces were out in a couple of minutes. The mango chutney was delicious! For mains we had a tandoori lamb tikka (lamb with a really tasty rub cooked over charcoal), chicken curry, rice and naan bread. The lamb had such a lovely depth of flavour and was really tender and came with perfectly caramelised onions. The chicken curry sauce was moreish and perfect for naan dipping. Extra little nod to the small things like lovingly folded napkins, heated handwipes at the end of the meal and refreshingly cold dinner mints when the bill came were really thoughtful touches. Will be back and definitely recommend a visit and you'll be supporting a lovely local business too!

As a Curry lover I always try to visit an Indian restaurant when I am away from home and whilst in Newbury I found this one, The venue itself is clean and quite modern and has a good and varied menu. I requested a dish that was not on the menu and when it arrived it was superb and exactly what i ordered cooked to the correct strength. The only criticism, which is minor, is that there was a little too much Gee used. The staff are very attentive and the service is good. One for the places i will return to list.

Absolutely beautiful tasty Indian food. I have ordered takeaways from many Indian Restaurants but this one beats most by far. Food is always hot & fresh when it arrives. My also son uses them all the time now after he had a curry with us from Indigo Bay. He couldn't believe how lovely their Curries were. I wouldn't go anywhere else now.

We may be biased but the staff at Indigo Bay are always so welcoming and kind and the food is always delicious, there are several really good Indian restaurants in Newbury but none of them have such great staff

This is the 2nd takeaway we have had from here. First time food was barely warm. Thought we would give them another chance! However the food was awful. My supposed mild curry was spicy and the spices were not cooked. I only ate a little bit, and had a bad stomach afterwards. The peswari nasn was bland. In our view nearly £50 wasted!

Best curry house in newbury hands down. Eaten from all of them and this place has the best flavour in all of the gravies. Clean, not to much oil and doesn't leave me hanging off the toilet for days like the other places. Highly recommend the bengal chicken special, sauce is amazing and the chicken perfectly cooked

My wife and children are very fond of the food of Indigo Bay. Meal of last night was super tasty. It's great deal with a great price, Banquet Night ( Wednesday). Every item was extremely delicious. We purely enjoyed. We are really impressed with excellent customer service of the staff and genuinely satisfied with tasty food. Well done Indigo Bay, particularly, the Chef and the great team!

Everytime we do a friends night out we choose Indigo Bay as our go to. The chicken Tikka is absolute PERFECTION, from the tenderness of the meat to the aromatics of the spices. It never fails to surprise me how much I crave it! Slowly working my way through the menu, but find myself going back to my favourites because I know they won’t let me down. I would recommend over and over again!

Always smells really bad from staff smoking weed outside the back in the evening. Stinks out the entire area

Kadem and the staff excelled again excellent food and service and a bargain on their banquet night. They ran out of sheek kebab but we got king prawn butterfly instead. One of my party and myself order our curries to be phal hot they got it spot on. On the downside there was a very noisy loud group of younger people spoilt our night but I can’t mark them down for that.

Saturday night, 8pm, two of us in here. Its a shame. I can only hope the majority of people were having a take out. This is a lovely little restaurant. The food is cooked to order, fresh and some dishes we have not had before. One of which we ordered, agra lalbahar. Chicken lamb prawn Spiced up in a sauce. Very nice The staff are very pleasant and you want to give them business. All our food was great tasting and hot. The Downside was, even being empty, the music played into the restaurant was only put on after us being there about 20 minutes and was through a phone, as suddenly stopped every time an order came in. Definitely going back to support them. Enjoy

I want to start off by saying I ❤️ My Indian food! I visited prior to COVID and it was a terrible food experience. Friends booked it and I thought ho hum let’s try again. What a difference! Ot was a superb meal! I absolutely devoured my main - it was delicious! Service was super! Sides lovely. Naan was cooked to perfection. We’ll be back in a couple of weeks!

Four of us had a late dinner with two newbies to this cuisine. Great service and an awesome meal. Learned a lot from our server and totally enjoyed the meal.

Another excellent meal, very good service and wonderful food, cannot recommend this Indian Restaurant highly enough, we have been going for many years and it has never let us down, finally I have got around to writing a review.

Worst takeaway experience ever. Had two good takeaways from here followed by a mediocre one. This time was abysmal. Ordered through Just Eat early on in day for 7.30. Rang at 7.45 to be told he was on route. By 8.15 still no sign. Rang restaurant who were rude and couldn't care a less to be honest. Told we would get a refund. Will probably be fighting for ever to get a refund. My advice is DONT BOTHER !!

Had a takeaway from here a while back which was excellent so decided to go for a dine in. Shafi and the Indigo bay team surpassed our expectations we’ve had a lot of Indian food and this was right up there with the best. We like it hot and it was hot, we also ask for a special dish of chilli bhajis/pakoras theirs were fantastic. Keep up the good work and thank you for an excellent meal.

Nice restaurant with good decor. Located in a quiet part of the town centre. The restaurant was very clean with nice modern decor but let down by the quality of the food. Only visited once so can't be sure if this was just a one off. Staff were nice and friendly and service was good.

There are many Indian takeaways in Newbury. But for your classic but tasty curry I would always choose Indigo Bay. Always spot on and great menu.

Our takeaway arrived fairly quickly, unfortunately both our dishes were extremely oily as you can see in the photo. Such a shame as we treated ourself as it’s a year countdown to our wedding. Will never order from there again. Awful

Ordered for delivery which was prompt and to time. Tandoori mixed grill, goan fish curry with spinach side dish. DELICIOUS. Great tastes, and good service. Peshwari nan lacked sultanas and almonds, but hey! Will be a devoted customer. .

This is our 2nd poor meal out of four. Lamb was just fat and salmon was just cooked to death. Never again sorry.

We have had some very mediocre experiences of takeaway curry recently from other places and had all but given up. Last week, a lovely smiley gentleman dropped off a menu for Indigo Bay and we thought we’d give curry one last try. WOW! It arrived piping hot, complimentary poppadums and outstanding food (tandoori mixed grill and chicken madras). It was the best Indian takeaway meal I’ve ever had - and one of the best Indian meals ever! I cannot recommend Indigo Bay highly enough.

Delicious as always! We had a tilapia dish and ada murghi (chicken), first time trying these dishes and we all enjoyed them. Staff very friendly and covid aware, another customer was picking up their order and distances were kept at all times. We look forward...

Great to see it reopen in 2021 and even better than before. Freshly cooked, great spices and good portions. Shame it's only takeaway at the moment but will be eating in as soon as we can. Once again our first choice in Newbury.

Indigo Bay is no more - it is closed down and according to a sign in the window a new business is opening soon called Grill Valley (as at October 2020) . It's a shame because we did have some good meals in there but it had gone down a bit lately. Good luck to the new business

Good friendly service with good food to match

We used to go to Indigo Bay all the time for meals in and takeaways. We haven’t been for a while as we live closer to other curry houses now but thought we’d go back there. The meals themselves were average; we all said we had had better from there.However, fast forward 24 hours and we’re all rather ill with d&v. We all had different meals and only shared a rice and saag aloo, which are fairly inoffensive dishes, so we can only assume that the hygiene is questionable.Such a shame, we won’t be going back.

I wont be visiting this restaurant again. Food has gone very down hill over the last year and there's an element of unprofessionalism about the ambience and the service.

Well, I was a proud advocate for this place having been coming here for years....Went for a meal expecting the same level of service and delicious food and was very disappointed.It seems they have changed hands- no longer have a drinks licence so beware & take your own! & more importantly, the food tasted awful and was bland. I think the previous chefs have also left with the old ( great) staff which made it work. ........... so now in pursuit of another Indian restaurant in Newbury to go to!!

Superb food, extremely courteous staff especially with the return of the original owners. Love the food preparation especially since you can ask the chef to prepare it slightly more wrt your liking. Great place.

I ordered from Indigo Bay last week having not done so for a while and I found it just pretty bland and the lamb quite chewy... have a word with the chef guys!

Just had a delivery (via One Delivery) and was pleasantly surprised as its taken a fair few attempts at finding a tasty indian meal and now we have finally found one!!

The Indigo Bay is a good Curry house with great service but the food is just - OK. I visit regularly and have done over many years and I will contnue to do so but I really wish that they would up their game on the food as they could be the Indian Super Stars of Newbury. Maybe a Specials Board or something a bit different.

Wouldn’t be my go to for a Friday or Saturday night but a evening meal here would be the choice on a weekday with the family.

Don't care what anyone else says....We went there last evening (Sunday). Harry was there to greet and serve us, in his excellent inimitable fashion. Our food was superb. The chicken tikka was tender; the tarka dahl extremely tasty and my Vindaloo curry sauce was the best I've tasted in a long time!Our compliments to the chef. Brilliant!

Once again, when no one else is sitting in a restaurant at 'peak' dinner time...one should walk away (fast!). Over an over zealous wait staff (three gentleman attempting to serve six of us for dinner) we were served WAY TOO MUCH food and it's flavor was underwhelming. Overall, we've had much better experience with Indian restaurants in the Newbury area.
