Spice in West Berkshire

Spice has been our go to Indian restaurant. The food was always the best around, and they were never afraid to make some of the dishes as hot as they should be. I was concerned it would lose its edge when it changed ownership.... Thankfully, it's just as good as it's always been! The staff are short friendly, and you can have a nice refreshing half whilst waiting for your takeaway. Get your indian food here! I recommend the garlic chilli chicken, vindaloo and chicken tikka jalfrezzi.

Went to spice this evening with a group of friends. Always rave about spice being our favourite Indian and I was not disappointed. Really enjoying the new lighting and furniture in spice which is all very modern and inviting. The team in spice are amazing. Really friendly and chilled environment. Amazing meal as always. Thank you all again.

Awful food. Made me and my partner ill. Cheap ingredients and poorly cooked. Lamb was tough. Chicken wasn't cooked enough and sauces were so thick I could of used them as concrete. Very disappointing. Will never use again

We’ve been coming to Spice for takeaway and eat-in for years and it is easily the best takeaway in West Berkshire. The food is delicious and feels authentic, and there’s plenty of choice to try new things beyond the standard dishes. The staff are always unbelievably friendly and offer the highest possible level of service. We’ll continue coming here for many years to come.

Never had a bad experience at spice ever. Tonight was honestly the best we’ve eaten. All really good! so fresh and tasty with lovely decoration. Absolutely love the team in spice as they always go the extra mile for customers. Friendly and inviting. Thank you again for the beautiful meal this evening guys.

The food doesn't live up to the name. Having ordered a Bhuna, a Balti and a supposedly spicy speciality dish, all the sauces tasted the same - no spice heat and bland. When we mentioned it to the waiter, he said we should have asked to have our food spicier. Ummm, when the menu states the level of heat, that's what we'd expect

It’s been years since I’ve eaten from here. I certainly won’t be doing that again, the food was cold, bland and just not enjoyable. The chicken was dryer than the desert as was the onion bhaji. Total waste of money.

Waited over an hour from delivery time quoted phoned the restaurant and my order had been lost and had to be made again, meaning another half hour later,restaurant did apologise and gave a bottle of wine in compensation. Won’t be ordering for delivery again.

Nice place. The good a little bland. I live in Asia so I expect the food to be more authentic. However, I did not share my preference for a spicier, more spices, not just chili hot. What we did have was enjoyable bearing this in mind. Staff were friendly and service prompt and the food was good. I will go again.

This was a birthday treat, and that is what it was. The welcome was warm and friendly and this continued throughout. The restaurant was smart and clean and very comfortable. The food was fantastic and backed up with brilliant service. We will back. Well done.

First time I have purchased a takeaway from here and I have to say I was not disappointed. Samosa were nice and meaty, onion bhaji had a nice crispy outer and nice and moist in the middle, other half rated them as 10/10. He had the chicken tikka masala which looked very red but was delicious and I had the lamb jalfrezi, nice hit of green chilli but too hot for him. Good value and really tasty, staff polite and friendly. Thank you Spice

Had not ordered from here before, but choices were limited on a Monday night, but I was not disappointed. Easily ordered online at their website, then got a discount for collecting the meal. Was still hot by the time I got home, and all I can say is FANTASTIC! Great tasting food! Really the best I've had in the area. We had Rogon and I tried a new dish, both were excellent. Getting flavoured naan bread can be hit or miss a lot of the time, but the peshwari naan was brilliant, so tasty. The best food we have had in a long time and this will be where I go from now on! Also friendly, speedy service!!

Spice has been my local Indian restaurant for many years. Since being taken over it has lost its authentic feel. Although the food is still exceptional, the service seems very commercial and lacks the friendly, family orientated experience. Not too sure I will return.

usually very nice curry house but very disappointed to find half my order missing and replaced with items that I never ordered, will not order online from here again!

Utterly disappointed with the customer service I received this evening, from ordering the food on the phone for it to be delivered, one meal was completely wrong, rang them and they told me it would be re sent out, after waiting over 40 minutes it turned up just the korma resent out, the rice and naan bread that went with the meal was freezing cold, I rang them back and they were rude, the person on the phone told me the whole meal that was wrong would of been replaced, i asked for a full refund but the manager would only offer me half the refund back, to which I had to go to the restaurant to get back….., absolutely ruined my valentines meal and I won’t be coming back here again!

THIS IS NOT AN INDIAN RESTAURANT!!! The food was absolutely terrible, the service matched. The Lamb Karahi was the worst. The lamb had not been seared thus leaving it grey looking and the sauce was something that you would expect from a Green King pub. Samosa's were cooked from frozen but charged as if they were fresh. The chutney's provided were double the advertised cost. If you want a real authentic and tasty restaurant, go to House of Flavours in Reading Town Centre, now that's proper food!

Just had a take away, my usual , Chicken Madras , mushroom rice.distinct Sunday roast veg taste, can put my finger on it . Not the best !!!! Not sure ....

Very good, thank you. I was slightly surprised to taste what seemed like cinnamon in the saag aloo??. Fine for me, but some people may be less keen.

Haven’t been before so thought we’d all try a new restarrror across the road from the pub. We all decided to have curry as we love spicy food. We had rice and curry with quite thick pancake bread which was very nice. The man gave us absolutely massive white crisps which we saw other people eating with chopped onion and mint yogurt before the food came. The girls had 5 pints of lager each and a leekyour after the meal. All in all the bill was very very reasonable. Very reasonable. Would go there again. We had a right laugh.

Waited over an hour for delivery, app said item delivered,phoned restaurant to query said it was on the way would be 10 mins, 20 mins later food arrived stone cold, curry pot was less than half filled, 3 buts of chicken, save your money don't bother, gonna make a sandwich

I have frequented the establishment on several occasions, consistently experiencing excellent meals accompanied by exemplary service. It is, in my opinion, the finest Indian restaurant in the area.

I loved the food when I came here in Early 2022! It’s like Hampshire even though its Berkshire. I will leave a 5 star review shortly.

We visited spice on a Friday night, we hadn’t booked but managed to get a table, it had a great atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff were very attentive. The food was delicious! We will be returning again soon!

Played hunt the chicken , in one pot there was 5 small pieces and the other only 4 , the rest of the pot was filled with sauce, the popadom was smashed to bits , it was a shame as the curry had a good flavour, haven’t used for a while , thought we’d try again, but won’t buy again

Came here asking for a table of 2. The place is packed! I’ve never seen an Indian restaurant so busy. The atmosphere is very lively and the staff are rushed off their feet but still very polite, nothing is ever too much and was very quick considering the restaurant was full and the line up for takeway was blocking the entrance. The food was by far the best Indian food I have had in a long time.

It was late, forgot to put egg fried rice in but eventually delivered it

Honestly the best curry I’ve ever had! service was immaculate, amazing, caring staff and the food was insane! drove half an hour to get to the restaurant and was incredible. The food tastes so fresh and like it’s made with love, everything from the taste to the presentation cannot be faulted. have recommended to all family and friends and will be back very soon 10000/10!!!

Late delivery, depending on which part of the estimate you would start at 30 - 50 minutes late. Most the dood was very oily and lukewarm, the meat was dry and the starter container was open on arrival and was stone cold. I'll think I'll skip this restaurant in future.

Placed order and received nothing. Rang up said will be 10mins. 45mins later I ended up going their to get my food which they forgot to print off which they apologised and added bits on to the order. when I got home started eating it was absolutely lovely to point I wanted more when I was finished. Delivery 0/10 food 11/10

Me and my fiancée visit spice regularly and always have such a lovely experience. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Food is always amazing and nicer each time we return. The team made my partners birthday special and even added a personal touch of playing our song. Visit as much as we can and never have anything but compliments for the chefs and the team at spice. Charged extra when the order arrived. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but the food was absolutely terrible! I don't know why this restaurant has so many 5 star reviews, because the service and food was rubbish! Very disappointed. The worst indian food we have ever tasted. Fantastic buffet night, now on a Monday. Epic Peshwari naan, new menu, service outstanding, Uncharacteristically quiet tonight busy most nights.

Excellent service, fantastic food, relaxed evening, helpful and friendly staff. They were unexpectedly very busy with large last minute bookings but the staff were really polite and apologised if things took a little longer than expected. As it happens they managed really well and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Will be recommending to friends. We will be back :)
