The Hatch in Basingstoke and Deane

Disappointing lunch visit , we have visited this restaurant several times and been happy , but our lunch on this visit was to good . I had the special burger and it was so dry and the pudding which was a special peach crumble I had to sen back as the peaches were not cooked and very hard I could not get a knife through them . It’s a shame as it has put us off going again

Visited The Hatch tonight for a birthday. At time of booking I let them know we needed wheelchair access. They’d clearly thought carefully about which table would be easily accessible - both the route to it and the table itself. Staff were considerate without being patronising. Sarah and Jazz in particular were brilliant but all the staff we encountered were great. The food was lovely too and the service was at a relaxed but good pace (didn’t feel rushed or like we were left waiting for anything). A really positive experience

Lovely restaurant!! We were greeted and served by the wonderful Heather who made us feel at home instantly, a true highlight. The food was delicious, we all finished our plates & had very yummy desserts. They were accommodating to our birthday cake that we brought it & made us feel very special. Thank you!

Today was ours friends 75th birthday. All of the staff made our lunch visit wonderful. I have a gluten and dairy intolerance the waitress Morgan was so helpful and gave me suitable options. We will definitely we recommending this very welcoming restaurant to our family and friends. L. Frewin

Spent several hours in this lovely pub garden before going in for a meal - lots of choice and very good - Morgan was very helpful and smiley the only member of staff with a smile that day !!

We arrived early and had a drink in the garden first. Then we went inside and were shown to our table. Service was friendly and polite, and we were well looked after by Sarah. Food was of a very good standard. We will definitely be going there again.

What a joke this place is! Firstly, I would have preferred to write them a private email about my experience but they prefer to only provide a contact phone number on their website so you can call them when it suits them and not speak to senior management. So if this is how they want it, then this is how they're going to get it. I pitched up Saturday lunch time starving so I discussed the pork loins special with the lady serving and suggested I'd also buy a pineapple juice. I presented my credit card, received no receipt and was asked where I'd be sitting and I told her outside at the front and she could see the direction I walked and she had told me the meal wouldn't take long to cook. I waited at a table 20 minutes, then 30 minutes, had to finish my drink which I prefer to eat with my meal, then 40 minutes, then 50 minutes before I waved a waiter over and asked if I was ever going to get my meal. He walked in to investigate and 5-minutes later I still had no feedback. So I got up and walked in myself to be told I had never placed a food order! If your staff are that bad at taking an order then you're not doing your job in training them. I received no apology and actually, come to think of it, not one waiter, even though my glass was empty from about minute 25 cared to call on my table and ask if everything was alright or if I wanted another drink. All this and it wasn't even that busy when I first got there and placed my apparently 'fake' order at 12h30. It seems to get anything done here you'll have to repeat and clarify 5-times and management don't care because they don't provide a way to make direct contact.

I always look forward to going out for Sunday lunch and have been to The Hatch several times but sadly today was very disappointed. Asked for the beef to be well done so that was my choice but remainder was definitely not to their usual standard. Vegetables extremely overcooked, not a lot of meat and potatoes small and not very roasty. Ordered pigs in blankets otherwise plate would be quite empty. Staff extremely friendly though.

It’s a new menu which means they’ve put the prices up and now get less food. The Sunday menu is mainly roast based so not much choice, as I said, they’ve increased the prices, you get two slices of beef when it used to be three, it is not even one decent sized potato as they cut it into small pieces. The cauliflower cheese is an extra, no wonder the server asked if we wanted two as the portion size is small. I wanted to give Chef & Brewer a second chance after a disgusting meal at The Waterwitch that was so bad we got the meal and drinks complimentary.

Had aftera nice meal with friends. Lyndsey looked after us. I have been here many times and enjoy it there. Staff are friendly.

My friends and I had a lovely meal here. We were served by Kyle. He was very attentive, and polite. The food was very good too. Great service all round .

Overall ok Service was good, room was rather cold so we had to keep costs on! Menu ok, rather limited for a Sunday unless you want a roast which most of our party had. The roast was tasty, plentiful and good

Really lovely. Plenty of parking. Nice atmosphere with a great variety of ages. Burgers were delicious. Waitress (lyndsey) was friendly,efficient and there was no pressure. Would definitely come again. Better than a lot of other Chef and Brewers. They are obviously are doing something right as nearly full on a Wednesday evening.

Sunday Roast. Excellent friendly service. Sadly the Yorkshire Pudding was hard and dry. A tiny helping of stuffing (albeit very tasty) and nowhere near enough gravy, had to ask for more. That said, everything tasted lovely and was a fair price. The pigs in blankets were 10/10.

Dinner again at the excellent Hatch pub. Lovely meal of Confit Duck leg and chicken and ham pie. Both excellent. Apple pie was excellent. Bread and butter pudding was nice, but not close to a traditional bread and butter pudding. The staff, as always, were downright amazing. Friendly, helpful and always ready for a quick chat. The Hatch has come on leaps and bounds from when I first started coming here. Congrats to Deano, Jo-Jo and all the awesome staff for making it yet again a really pleasurable visit

We visited on a Saturday evening. Lovely menu, very friendly staff, great atmosphere. We didn’t use it, but there is a lovely outside seating area too. We really enjoyed our evening and would definitely recommend.

A lovely dinner at the hatch, we were found a table even when we had not booked. We were well looked after by Lyndsey and the food was good and homely.

Such a lovely meal, with lovely lovely staff. Only 2 lovely ladies serving on such a busy busy night and the service was brilliant, and attentive! Food was all presented lovely and came so quickly! All tasted lovely!

We came here for a lunch to treat ourselves and we had a great time. We ate off the lunch menu and had a salmon florentine and the steak ciabatta. Both tasted absolutely amazing and the portion size for the steak was really generous. Whilst the salmon was really tasty, it was absolutely tiny, so suitable for a really light lunch. For drinks we had a large coke (£4.05!) And a passionate sparkler which was really nice too. Staff were lovely and really friendly, would definitely come here again.

This is our local and we often come here for dinner. The staff are always friendly and efficient and the food is usually hot (unless it's salad!), tasty and reasonably priced. Our favourite staff members are Lyndsey, Heather and Sarah who we now consider to be friends. They are lovely ladies whose service is impeccable and who always make time to have a quick chat and enjoy a bit of banter.

Been here many times over the years. Always a lovely, clean pub to go into. It feels very warm and cosy. The service can be hit and miss but doesn't ruin my trip. The prices are a bit steep but it doesn't take away from an overall good experience here.
