The Harrow Inn in Maidstone

We popped in this establishment without booking for lunch. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and shown to a table. Very tasteful decor. Very clean and tidy a comprehensive menu catering for all tastes We both opted for the house special pie and mash. Much to our surprise the pie was homemade and absolutely delicious full of flavour and very tasty. The vegetables were hand cut and cooked perfectly all in all a very pleasant experience we will be visiting again.

First visit for a couple of years but will be going again soon. Excellent food and very pleasant staff. Will not leave so long before we return.

Lovely Sunday roast great atmosphere. We visited the Harrow inn a dog friendly gastro pub near Gillingham. Food was delicious, hot and plentiful. Many similar pubs should take note ( three crutches ) , this is how you serve and deliver on a Sunday roast. Portions were generous even down to the home made Yorkshire puddings. The regulars are charming folk and were very attentive to our dog Eddie. I even noticed hot food in the form of roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings being put on the bar gratis. Phil and Clare are clearly hosts that take care of their patrons. We will definitely be coming back Phil and Alex And Eddie

Haven't been to the Harrow for years and so glad we went today. Menu was varied, with plenty to suit all tastes. Both courses were exceptional, we had starters of chicken skewers and pork belly bites to share which were tasty and cooked excellently. Mains were a vegetarian boirgonoun (spell!) And a hunters chicken. Again, both amazing, well presented and the hunters chicken probably the best ever had. Service was spot on, the whole place was clean and homely, really couldn't fault it. We will definitely be returning soon. Many thanks.

I phoned on the off chance of lunch that day and was greeted with a positive reply. Arrived 15 minutes later to the warmest welcome we have ever received anywhere. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the food which was delicious. The atmosphere was professional and nothing was too much trouble. It was a busy service but not rushed or with lengthy waiting times. I cannot praise the staff highly enough and will return very soon. Thank you for a lovely experience everyone.

We came here for Sunday roast for my mother in laws birthday. We throughly enjoyed our Roast dinners, and my children both had pizzas and they are cooked to perfection. We all had desserts, the apple crumble is my favourite, but I chose the cheesecake this time with ice-cream and it was lovely. The new restaurant looks lovely and cosy. The main bar is kept beautifully and the owners are very lovely people. Can’t wait to come back again for a Roast dinner. It finishes off the weekend brilliantly when I’m treated to a Sunday roast at The Harrow❤️. Will definitely be back and would recommend this lovely county pub to everyone.

I had a baby shower thrown for me at the Harrow and the food was fresh and amazing! Didn’t have to wait to be served at the bar for drinks. The staff were friendly and were brilliant for the baby shower. I would recommend eating here. We have had dinner here previously and it was delicious 😊

We came here for Father’s Day lunch today. I chose this pub as they have a lot of vegan items available. The service was good, food was hot and fresh and reasonably priced. We will definitely return. Thank You!

Having booked in advance we could not understand a story there was one other table occupied that we had to wait over an hour for our food. The fish portion was very small and burger dry, staff were not very friendly couldn't be bothered. Should have complained but was with family will not be going back

This is a pretty little pub 10 minutes from my parents. It's well looked after and it feels classy inside. However, 5 of us went for Sunday dinner today, it wasn't a bad meal but it wasn't great. The meat is so thinly sliced it doesn't seem freshly roasted, when you are paying £14 / £15 and £17 for a Sunday dinner you definitely expect more and better quality meat. Everything on the plate seemed like it was cooked from frozen, it was a let down. Puddings weren't any better either, I'm not rude and like I said it wasn't a terrible meal so I'm not going to complain at the time. It has a lot of potential.

Came here today for an early dinner with family, this is a lovely little country pub with a good selection of beers and wines and a small menu which caters for all tastes. All four of us had the garlic prawns on ciabatta to start, a really delicious and generous starter, then 3 of us had the sea bass with red pesto - again really tasty and well presented on ceramic high sided plates - my stepfather had liver and bacon and loved it - we all had puddings which were again well presented, light and sweet, washed down with copious amounts of Sauvignon blanc, lovely!!! 😊

Excellent service and food - and not hugely expensive. Add a few cocktails and it would be perfect. The tempura prawns were a triumph and the fish 'n' chips was very good too. Mango sorbet was yummy.

We booked late, on Father’s Day itself, in fact they phoned back and managed to find a spot for us!We were seated at a table in the adjacent overflow building. It was late afternoon and I think we were expecting to find tired staff and the signs of things winding down, but not a bit of it. They were friendly and welcoming, the table was ready for us with clean linen (no paper) and we sat straight down. From the special Father’s Day menu we chose the roast beef (twice), roast pork and the pan fried sea bass. ‘Topside’ was promised and superb, pink, succulent topside duly arrived. The pork was excellent and the sea bass (on new potatoes and asparagus) was very good indeed. Even though it was late in the day, there were no shortcuts with this food, it was quite clear we were being served food every bit as good as the first dishes to leave the kitchen. To get this quality of food, with such friendly service after a long and tiring afternoon speaks volumes for everyone involved. We ate very well and this is the best value for money for a pub Sunday lunch that I can remember in years!Thank you everyone at The Harrow

Lovely food (simple lunch menu but tasty and reasonably priced) and drink in a lovely garden. Staff were nice and a great location

I went with a friend for lunch and I had calves liver, dauphinois potatoes and green beans with a jus. It was all served piping hot and was very tasty the only negative was that the jus wast a little bit salty. My friend had ham, pineapple, chips and egg and she found it all excellent. For dessert I had the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream which was delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to go again and try something else on the menu as there is a lot of choice.

100% perfect in every way, warm friendly staff, the food mouthwateringly delicious and such a welcome visit after having not been out for a good English pub lunch for over a year. Well organised. I had the mixed meat roast, it was a very generous portion that sadly as much as I was enjoying it, I had to leave some as I’m not a big eater. My husband had the steak & ale, mushroom pie. It looked lush and hubby said it tasted as good as it looked. Credit to the chefs. We will definitely be going back. Well done everyone at The Harrow Inn.

Decided to try The Harrow recently for our weekly lunch out. Hadn't been there for many years as it had been rather hit and miss over time. However this time we were delighted to find it a really welcoming pub with a lovely landlady, Clair, and a very sweet waitress called Kelsey. The menu was varied and our food was well cooked and delicious (the pie of the day and the lasagne). The whole atmosphere was relaxed and friendly with all the necessary protocols in place. We will definitely be returning soon.

It is over a year since I left my last glowing review of this Pub / Restaurant and I can confirm that the food was every bit as good again. 6 of us chose different meals and we all really enjoyed the quality and presentation of the freshly cooked food. Visited as a family of four and we all had a great meal. The food was hot and well cooked and presented. We hadn’t visited for over a year as we felt it was not very good but has definitely improved 100% and we will be returning. The staff were very helpful and attentive and all Covid aware. This pub needs to be buzzing again like the good old days!

We visited yesterday for our first meal out since the pubs reopened.We had lovely fish and chips. The food was delicious. The staff were lovely and friendly. We will definitely be returning soon.

We had a lovely meal here on Sunday after deciding we wanted to go somewhere for a roast. Once we arrived we actually both decided on different meals!We had breaded brie to start which was delicious, with a good helping of salad. Then I had fish and chips and the fish was really well cooked, flaky and not greasy at all. The helping of chips on the side was great.We were sat in a side room on our own for most of the meal - a bit out of the way but considering we had called up for a table only 45 minutes prior this was fine as we may not have gotten a table otherwise. Overall a nice experience - we will be returning.

I hadn’t been back to the Harrow since it had new owners. After working all weekend and with my favourite pub fully booked I booked a table at the Harrow for Sunday lunch as we live really close by. Have to say was utterly impressed. Staff could not be more accommodating for my children, providing colouring for them to keep them amused and even creating a pasta dish off the menu for my fussy 7 year old. Everything we asked for was accommodated with a smile. Service was fast, efficient and smiling. Food was absolutely lovely. Roast beef with proper potatoes and Yorkshire’s. I’m a roast snob I have to say and this impressed me no end. Cauliflower cheese and extra gravy brought out as well. Extra gravy! These people know. Salted caramel apple crumble was enough to then finish me off and I ended up having a 3 hour snooze at home where I was so full and content! Will definitely visit again. We hired the small hall for our two sons 18th birthday. Very nice and friendly staff and fantastic food. Listened to our concerns for our boys needs and checked with us throughout the evening if all was okay for them. Highly recommend.

First time here under this management and have to say it wont be the last. They fitted us in amongst a full house of christmas bookings and we had a lovely meal. Brie, pate, sausages and mash and liver and bacon all very nicely done. The place looks so much better than I've ever seen it before. Lovely people too. Wont hesitate to return or recommend. Fantastic country pub and restaurant. Was given a table very quickly as walk in customers on a busy Sunday afternoon. Service was efficient and friendly. Fantastic Sunday Lunch today. Booked for 7 people, everything available on the menu. Great portions, well cooked, brought more cauliflower cheese and gravy out which is always a bonus! Delicious desserts, good value for money and the service team were superb. Highly recommended.

Dropped in to see my' ole' matey', after promising I would go and see her the previous week, but never got there, so, I decided to go and have a drink to see her and whilst I was there, I decided I was a little peckish, I had a spot of lunch and chose the lasagna, it was hot, tasty, meaty and delicious, the best Lasagna I have tasted in a very long time and I ate the whole lot ! I could tell it was cooked from fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can certainly recommend !

My friends and I have been meeting monthly for lunch for a long while now and have been in many a hostelry and tea shops in the towns.Today was our second visit to The Harrow and it was as welcoming as the first visit.Clare ,the owner is a delight and could not be more helpful and had lit the fire to warm it up as it was so miserable out. To walk into a pub's restaurant and see tables set with white clothes and shiny cutlery,a flower and glassware is a joy to me.We had wonderful freshly cooked fish finger sandwiches(real fish) cooked to perfection and wonderful light batter one friend had a bruschetta with chilli and cheese and another had mushroom soup which she pronounced "the best she had ever tasted".On our previous visit ,there had been mention of Lemon Meringue Pie and Clare had one today especially for us,it was delicious.So we sat and chatted drinking our tap water and decided to book our Christmas lunch and obviously, booking next months lunch although seeing the menu we have decided to have a cooked main next time and the order for our Lemon Meringue Pie is also in the book. It may be slightly off the beaten track but it is so worth a visit we could not fault it thank you Clare and staff

We visited the Harrow at Lidsing on a Friday night in July as a change from our useful haunts and on the recommendation of a friend. We have used this pub many times in the past but not for a good number of years.

I haven’t been here for nearly year, but the service, food and drinks were very good and value for money. Apart from the narrow road on one side of the building, this is a quiet, countryside located pub.

The wife and i was out doing a bit of shopping on way home was passing the Harrow so stop off for a nice cool drink in there garden was nice staff nice and friendly and the prices were good the sun was out and the garden was ok

We booked the function room for Sunday 21st July 2019 for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. We arranged to have a Buffett at lunchtime and we’re given a choice of menus and prices. Claire was very accommodating when we asked to change a few items and I must say the Buffett quality was superb. We had a great selection of different foods. The majority of it went which is always a good sign.

Had a superb Sunday lunch at The Harrow today. I had the Brie in breadcrumbs to start followed by Liver, bacon and mash with veg and a Yorkshire pud!! Omg absolutely delish and the Yorkshire was homemade! Mississippi mud pie for pud. My friends had the roast and it was amazing complete with crackling and roasties. Definitely recommend. Dog friendly too!

First time users of this one....

Thought we’d give the Harrow a chance again as the new people have only recently started doing food. Parts of the meal were nice, for example, the chicken skewer starter. The prawn cocktail was nothing special and overpriced. The main courses however were not so great. The chips just tasted of fat, not sure if the ‘chef’ uses animal fat to cook in. Onion rings just tasted of fat too. I have never left somewhere feeling so bloated, this feeling continued all night. So we’ll just go to the Harrow for drinks I think in future. :-(

At last – a really nice pub fairly close to our house! Under the watchful eye of new-ish landlady Claire, The Harrow offers a genuinely warm welcome and excellent beer and wine which can be enjoyed within or outside in a smart, large garden. She deserves to do well.

The Harrow is blessed to have a function room just the right size for a gathering of around 30.

Party of 30 for an afternoon tea in the hall for my parents Diamond Anniversary. Clair took the time to discuss the menu and provided delicious Veg and Vegan foods too. Everyone commented on how lovely the food was, beautiful fresh sandwiches, lovely cakes and scones with clotted cream. Country pub with restaurant. We stopped just for a drink. The Hervey's Sussex Bitter was good at £4.00 a pint but the price of a glass of coke was expensive at £3.00
