I visited on Friday 13th with a group of adults I support for our Christmas meal. The staff were great very accompanying, patient and friendly. The food was lovely and really great value. A lovely evening spent in a lovely pub Thank you, hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

delicious food, nice atmosphere and nice beer garden. great selection of vegan and vegetarian plates on the menu didn’t know what to get as there was just so much choice and that’s not a problem i normally find myself having with 1 or 2 options to pick from. each sounded incredible but got hot honey halloumi flatbread and was incredible. everyone at the table got something different and everyone said how lovely it was. staff were very kind and funny too great service

Lovely 3 course lunch from the seniors range . Portions smallish which is exactly what we want and the price and quality excellent . The rag pudding was delicious! Incredible value and super friendly staff . Will be going again .

After booking a table online for early afternoon Sunday, arrived to find pub fairly busy, but meals and drinks were quick to arrive. Very reasonable prices. Staff very friendly. The salt and pepper chicken with katsu sauce I had was delicious. My teen son devoured his katsu chicken curry with a massive thumbs up and my partner and our elderly friend, who we were visiting in this neck of the woods, both enjoyed their fish, chips and mushy peas. Dog friendly was a huge bonus too and we had our pooch tucked under the table. Two of us had desserts. Again, quick to arrive and delicious.

Well what a wonderful experience I had at the Hare and Hounds Ramsbottom. Outstanding service, food and atmosphere. I ate and drank several times here while in Ramsbottom from overseas to visit family and friends. Each time the food and wine were lovely . The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Gill the manager made sure everything was perfect. If you are visiting or living in Ramsbottom I strongly advise you make a visit to The Hare and Hounds.

Delicious puddings! I didn't know a blondie could taste that good. The lunch deals are generously priced too.

Such a lovely pub with incredible staff. Thank you to each and everyone one of you for the amazing buffet that you put on for my mums surprise birthday party! We used the smaller room at the back which was a lovely private room for the party. Truly great. Very pleasantly surprised because I came here randomly. The weekday deal on 2 mains is the best value for money I've seen in a pub in a long time. The gammon and the katsu curry were perfect and cheap. There are so many pubs out there that just don't live up to this standard. And the pints are pulled properly and well priced. This is a real 5 star from me.

Meal and a pint after a lovely walk around Holcombe Moor today. Food top notch, service friendly and professional. The beers were something else - there must have been 10+ real ales made me think they should have their own Beer Festival.

We all had a top time the other night at the Hare and Hounds, as always. All the food was bob-on and great value. The staff there are fab. It’s always a great end to the week in there.

Being going to this pub for years but feel like Recently bar staff are very miserable and come across moody, Friday night last orders was called and male bar man was wiping tables huffing and puffing at us to hurry up, today I’ve been with family for lunch and person behind the bar very moody like he doesn’t want to be there, over all food great and lovely pub but definitely need more customer service experienced staff behind the bar who don’t make you feel like your a hindrance.

Had a school reunion gathering. The staff here are really good - friendly and welcoming. A lovely venue. I didn’t eat here, so can only comment on drinks, service and atmosphere - all really good.

Very busy Friday night, but great atmosphere and good service. The staff were really friendly and switched on in terms of serving people in order of who came to the bar. My husband’s a CAMRA member and he appreciated the great choice of well-kept cask beers.

This has to be the worst place in country for service, staff only serve people directly In front of the till. The bar is 30m long. Haven’t got a clue. 20mins wait. Then walked out. Place is BAD

Great quality, inexpensive food for everyone. Great staff and service. The place is clean and has great facilities. Be cautious if you're driving, plenty of people who for some reason think they have priority parking tend to park in baffling positions with little care for everyone else.

I do not usually write reviews but I feel I have to comment on the fantastic staff. I have been 3 times over the last few weeks and Joe should be complimented. He is always happy to help and efficient. He is a credit to the pub.

Good pub, great place to watch sport, have a couple and unwind after a long week. The food is restaurants quality food at a reasonable price.

Does good pints and food. Has great staff and a good atmosphere. Nice place to drink with friends with a nice outdoor area with heaters. A nice selection of ales including hawks head, white rat and old speckled hen.

My Fish and Chips were pretty awful

Popped in for our tea, we had the sharing plates and were happy with the food provided, it was good value. We always feel welcome especially if the manager is working (Gill I think)

My first visit to the Hare & Hounds, we spent the evening there and had drinks and THE THAI FOOD which was amazing, great price and value for your money,

Turned up about 20 past 8 having checked both the website and google to see that they served food until 9pm. Sat down and order 3 drinks and meals via the app. After around 30 mins, when the drink still hadn't arrived went to the bar to check what had happened only to be told they hadn't made the drinks and had in fact stopped serving food 'at about 8 which we do quite regularly' there were no signs up to tell us there was no one in the kitchen and the attitude of the staff over the whole thing was disgraceful. No apologies just a "we'll just have to refund you then" very disappointed as no opportunity to go anywhere else. Had there at least been signs to say food had stopped early or they have changed food service times then we could have eaten elsewhere.

Good food, reasonably priced, friendly, efficient staff

We stopped in here unplanned. We were in the area and needed somewhere to wait out traffic with our cocker spaniel and found this gem! Spacious and tidy and really friendly & attentive staff (Ethan in particular!) Can absolutely recommend the beef and ale pie! A proper pie I tell you! Not a slice that has been reheated to the point of days old beef-jerky, but a fully pastried full meaty, gravy filled pie. (Can you tell I've been burned before?!) The burger was also very tasty. Will absolutely go again when in the area.

Arrived at arranged time and sure enough our table (for nine) was reserved. We were provided with menus and our orders were taken at the bar promptly. We were asked if we wanted all the dishes to come out together, which we did, but not everywhere considers to ask this. So brownie points for that! Food arrived after only a short wait, and all dishes were hot and looked very appetising! Mine certainly didn't disappont and all our friends agreed that the food was delicious. I havd to say that the gentleman serving was most attentive, asking if everything was okay, did we need anything etc etc. Very impressed with our visit here. Well done Hare and Hounds and staff!

The food was different, for example, I had smoked pulled mushroom chilli with rice, which was a dish I've never seen elsewhere, they also had a vegetarian Katsu curry which my friend had the chicken version and said it was delicious, it definitely smelled nice and my other friend had a burger with chips and onion rings which again looked very tasty, again they did a vegetarian version. Other options were; mac n cheese, supergrain salad with corn ribs or vegan burger. Although the chap who served us was pleasant enough, it would have been nice if he'd taken our order at the table, especially since it was quiet when we first entered at 6pm. I'm not sure who's fault it was, but we received our main courses before our starters. They obviously took them away, but we had to wait longer for them to make them. Again some different vegetarian options including; halloumi fries with chilli sauce, meat-less tacos, which were a bit dry, corn ribs or nachos to share. I'll definitely go again and try the other vegetarian dishes, worth a second visit. PS. I apologise for the poor photos as we'd started eating before I remembered to take a picture.

People who worked there were lovely, but I ordered a Bacon & Blue burger and got a very dry cheese burger... clearly had been an order someone didn't want and they just left under the lamps. But the bar start were lovely.

We visited on a Saturday which in hindsight wasn't the best day. We have been several times in the past & one thing that usually stands out (for a Green King pub) is the range of quality cask ales available. Today was no exception, the mainstays are usually Hawshead bitter, Odin pale, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Bank Top Flat Cap to name four & two others, Speckled Hen and usually one from Bowland. In my experienkce the beers have always been well kept & in good condition, today was no exception. Unfortunately, (for me) the pub has several TV's and it just happened to coincide with a "match day", consequently it was really noisy. Luckily the pub is big enough to usually find a side space away from the worst of it. During the week it is usually a lot quieter. The menu is pretty typical of "pub" style offerings , but is varied enough to cater for most tastes with a special limited lunchtime menu offered at reduced rates. All the items we ordered were freshly cooked, tasty & represented good value. The only downside on the day were the toilets which sadly were not the cleanest. All that said, overaul it was a pleasent experience, the beer was excellent & the food hit the spot. To top it off the staff were helpful & friendly. Addendum: Made a follow up visit on the evening of Thurs 4th Jan 24, as on my previous visit the pub was very noisy, in that there were several small groups of over happy people who were extremley loud. Luckily I did manage to find a quieter spot in a side room. Once again the beers were in excellent condition, having tried the Odin, Hawkshead Pale, Flat Cap & Landlord. Despite it being busy the two staff behind the bar were unphased & both were pleasent & helpful. I didn't manage to check the toilets this time, but overall it was a very pleasent experience.

Great menu, I was struggling to choose but went with the sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly. I love that it came with cauliflower cheese. The chunky chips and peppercorn sauce were tasty too. Very impressed. Modern but cosy feel to the place with real fires. Definitely recommend after a walk around Rivington reservoir.

Had a fantastic meal out for lunch, had the Katsu chicken and a fish and chips. Everything was well presented, hot and delicious! The staff were so friendly and everything came quickly even though the place was very busy with all the dog walkers! Will be back soon!

Poor presented food, the ale pie was one soggy event on a plate describe as an award winning pie, judges must have been drunk, the macaroni was so ill looking it resembled a corpse, two meals , two drinks £42, have had better presented and better tasting out of van at work, it was awful.Our card has been marked.Literally just left the place, very much underwhelmed.

We chose the Hare & Hounds for my birthday celebration as it had (according to the online menu, and as per the menus at the table) a good selection of vegan food and non-alcoholic drinks, especially the cocktails. We wanted to start with cocktails, but hardly any of the alcoholic, and none of the non-alcoholic ones were available. No reason was given by the bar staff. Our chosen mains, a mix of vegan and non-vegan, were good, and enjoyed by all. But the dessert was a complete failure - the vegan dessert wasn't available. Overall, not the best experience for my birthday, and I won't recommend the pub to friends, nor go again.

I have been here about 6 times in the last few weeks on different days of the week. The food is fantastic and the pub is so welcoming . I’ve seen many different staff due to the multi days I’ve been in and every single one of the staff have been fantastic. This isn’t my local it’s a 35 minute drive however when food, service and hospitality is at this standard I will continue my efforts to get there and it’s only right I leave a fair review . Keep up the great work

Food came far too quick to be cooked fresh, food was just warm and meat was very undercooked after sending back wanting it well done and still came back pink and rubbery. Vegetables was cold and hard. Only hot item was the gravy and roast potatoes as they was small and deep fried. For a country pub which had a great look And great friendly service & staff & accommodated dogs which was a bonus the food was a massive let it down been to other green king pubs with no issues. Disappointing

Food tasted like it had been microwaved. Service also poor and rude. The sole positive being the atmosphere, the place was absolutely electric.

What a fantastic pub...after being out walking and getting turned away from another local pub because we had a dog, this pub was very welcoming. The lovely staff behind the bar couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent as well, 1 had a burger and another had the chicken and ham pie, both delicious 😋. Being a Green king pub they also give discount on food for veteran's which is always appreciated. Keep up the great work, and many other nearby pubs who lost our custom, should learn from this establishment. 👍

Sorry ,it was a mistake, I put 1 ready to go to 4 and it went off. The home made Tomatoe/basil soup was lovely, the fish n chips were lovely too, also the Apple n Blackcurrant Crumble/ Custad was beautiful too, and the price for a Senior was simply Amazing £.7-99.the staff were lovely too, we couldn’t fault it,that’s why we returned. I brought all my family in August 7 of us, and we had lots of different food ,everyone enjoyed their steaks etc .Thankyou .xxx

We don’t expect 5 star food but this was just on the border of a complaint but it is the norm I suspect. The senior meal my wife had hunters chicken was a quarter of what is normally served. My standard fish and chips £13 something was a joke fish overcooked chips frozen stuff mushy peas like concrete. Never again for food.

It's a cheapish cheerfulish chain pup. Food was on a par with microwave food. Katsu curry was essentially a bit of breaded chicken with a microwave sauce dumped on top. It filled a hole. Decent selection of unspectacular likely to please ales at about £3.60 a pint. Interior is tatty, many of the soft furnishings are threadbare and couches split with foam bulging out. Needs a tart up. Bright interior with polite staff. EDIT: In response to the reply, there was absolute nothing wrong with the ales, but they was all a bit middle of the road - I am sure they do sell really well and that's why they're there - old faithfulls that are never going to get stale. But if you are looking for something unusually or different, this isn't the place, but nor have I reviewed it as such. If you're looking for the missing star, then that was in the tatty, threadbare, torn upholstery
