Blue Bell in Bury

So glad we popped in here. I needed to feed two children fairly quickly as we had an appointment but needed the children to have tea. Gave the pub a call just to check they had a children’s menu which they had. We walked in to a very nice bar man who was very helpful and got our order taken quickly. Was helped with high chair, getting extra cutlery and making sure we had everything we needed. The food came and the children were delighted with what they got. The lovely lady waiting on was also lovely and the children thought so even more when she came with the ice cream lollies. Lovely atmosphere and very lovely people. thank you so much

Good food and drinks at reasonable prices wheelchair assembly and assembly toilets also parking is accessible.

Not visited for a while and not the same Blue Bell it was

Used to be great here but the good has gone down hill. When we arrived the waiting staff was serving someone else and there was nobody behind the bar to order drinks..we waited nearly.10 minutes to get a drink...there was nobody else waiting. There was 4 of us. I ordered beef Sunday lunch, one of us steak (medium), a chicken wrap and the cheese and onion pie. We also got some sides of cauliflower cheese and hot homey chicken. The food came pretty quickly.but the beef on my roast was so tough I took it home for the dog. The steak was also tough. The cauliflower cheese was watery. It was really poor. The cheese and onion pie was good and chicken wrap was ok. It was really disappointing because it used to be great but I doubt we will be going again

Not many in when we attended, got impression lady behind bar was overrun with jobs, no child's menus, then nobody was behind the bar for drinks, then she had to take the orders then to go to kitchen, other customers were waiting at bar, this was a down side, food was excellent as a plus, marked down for service.

Me and my wife had the 3 small plates and I can honestly say they where great.

Just got home from the ‘Blue Bell’ I ordered the flatbread ‘falafel’ The flatbread was very ‘doughy’, very underdone it was disgusting! Hardly any falafel 4 tiny pieces .. I had forgotten Humous was supposed to be on it until I put my knife and fork down ‘finished’ then realised part of the flatbread was a funny colour .. it appears that the ‘chef’ must have spread the last bit of humous he had on my bread ! A handful of ‘leaves’ were tucked inside the bread .. I refused pomegranate seeds as I can’t have them due to heart medication.. Myself and my colleague left more than half the food… if I had been to the toilet sooner I wouldn’t have even ordered !! There was one person behind the bar who I must say wasn’t overly friendly ! The ladies toilets were not very pleasant .. two toilets I tried weren’t very clean and the sinks and taps needed a good scrub ! The dirtiest toilets I’ve ever seen .. horrible. Small rubbish bin outside the entrance filled to the brim , not a good look ! I so wish I had taken photos.. I will not be returning!!!

Food ok good staff.. also great wheelchair access and disabled toilets. Make sure you enter your reg for free parking.. toilets need a big scrub and update.

Table reservations seem a bit hit and miss, they didn't have our reservation and I heard a few other people querying their reservation, need to update their paper based reservation system. We were offered a table, fine but very near the bar service door and access to toilets so very busy with for traffic. Ordered drinks and food but because we ordered separate we didn't get the eat out to help out discount on the drinks & £2.45 for soft drinks but expensive though. Food ordering easy and service quick considering how busy they were. Food was excellent and good value for money even without the discount. Staff pleasant and attentive, but I wasn't impressed with the one staff member putting plasters on her feet on the table next to me whilst I'm trying to have a meal. Updated 1.4.24 quiet pub, polite staff. Food good and reasonable price.

Awful service and horrible to me and my 89 year old mum! They screamed down her ear when I told them she was deaf. Young adults they was and they walked off laughing! When food came it was cold and stale and our drinks had spit floating around in it! Disgusting restaurant please never go!😡

I went in after work and had Wexford chicken. Heather who served me was very friendly and she was helping an older man enter his car registration. Luke brought my food and was really helpful and after 5 minutes he asked how my food was. I said it was lovely. The cappuccino was amazing aswell. My kind of pub! I have been in a couple of years ago actually and liked it then.

Selected 6 small mixed plates like tapas ... Oh my gosh !! Absolutely beautiful yummy and scrumptious dishes ( my husband and I wished to order more ) .. such a home from home pub , such friendly staff and such gorgeous food .. we are already planning out next meal and drinks here .. thank you all to the Blue bell 🥰🤓

Great lunch! Fully recommend the hanging kebab lamb kofta. The steak was enjoyed by my husband, it was full of meat. We hadn’t been to The Bluebell for a while, glad we did today for a treat.

The Blue Bell is a great place to eat very friendly and comfy. Staft can't do enough for you. Food excellent especially the delicious new menus.

Booked for Christmas Dinner Dec 2023..food very poor quality..Starter Pate was hard like rubber could have bounced it of the walls! Then waited an hour for main meal..roast potatoes and stuffing was overcooked/burnt..very very disappointing!.Cheesecake was bland..no taste whatsoever! considering this was Christmas day..not even a paper table cloth or decoration on table..just a cracker thrown on..no Christmas music or decorations..sorry won't be back nor will i be recommending it to anyone 👎🏼

Where to begin…. Me and my family went there for a Christmas dinner Service was alright. However the food was terrible. Me and my family spent 180 pound for Christmas dinners. I understand it’s more expensive as it’s Christmas Day and people have to work on Christmas Day but the money was not justified when it came to the food. For the starter me and one of my other family members had the pate BIG MISTAKE. The pate was not spreadable at all rather frozen. You also only get 2 small slices of bread with it and to be fair the pate even though it was frozen was an alright amount. However I rather my pate not be frozen and to be more bread. The main course was alright but not great. My family member had a turkey dinner with no cranberry sauce had to ask for it and there was barely any mash. Was not the greatest. For dessert me and another family member opted for a cheese board selection tell me why there was 3 and a half crackers and two decent amount of cheeses which I didn’t like I left that but wasn’t really a cheese selection when there was only about 2 cheeses on the plate which I did not like. Waste of money really was not happy with the food I understand it’s more expensive at Christmas but 60 pound for one person for that food is ridiculous will not be returning even on a normal day.

I attended a Christmas meal here with my woman's group. The staff were friendly approachable and helpful, and made me feel part of the event, as I have food allergies. The food was great. The music wasn't really to my taste as it was more geared towards the older people. But overall it's a nice place to have a meal.

The geordie bar tender really made the experience, great little bar for a quiet drink or meal!

The staff are somewhat nice, somewhat clueless… the food… I would’ve rather ordered dog food then the grill up. Everything was burnt, the onion inside the onion ring wasn’t cooked.

Great place looks a lot better on the inside quite a surprise. Staff nice and friendly Food was tasty Steak Baguette needed a bit more cheese was dry near the end and peppers need a bit of finesse to chunky but I enjoyed it. Gravy was a bit weak pie was nice

First time.visiting had bbq chicken wings, beef brisket flatbread and skinny fries.absolutely lovely and great service would definately recommend and will go back

Second time I've met with my friend for lunch here. The variety and choices on the menu is really good. Prices very good too. It's a lovely pub inside, friendly staff and plenty of parking. It has been quiet both times we have been in which seems a shame... but both times have been weekday lunchtimes so perhaps that's why. I think it's a fab, unpretentious place - a typical British pub/restaurant.

Left feeling slightly disappointed, Roast Beef Sunday lunch ok but not outstanding, underwhelmed by generic roast potatoes akin to Aunt Bessie's, surely not that hard to do decent homemade roasties. Plus point good portion of Beef. Partners salad arrived minus Avacado which was supposed going off the menu a key element. This was rectified by the excellent waitress but unfortunately four small pieces of Avacado in a small pot hardly satisfied.Baring in mind at the time of ordering there were only three other tables occupied I feel there was no excuse for what I would presume was not a busy kitchen. Feeling underwhelmed only one had a dessert which to be fair looked very good and was enjoyed. Excellent pint of Holt's own Stout, waitress polite ,helpful when partner complained but solution from kitchen not good enough, four small pieces of Avacado hardly sufficient in a salad that was mainly green leaves and no excuse surely for leaving it out in the first place.

First time I rated here it was 5 stars. Beer/drinks were great and reasonably priced, food were great and reasonably priced. Now beer/drinks are still good good but prices have gone up quite significantly. Food is ok and again a big price hike l, also you now have to pay extra for ice cream on the kid menu.

Nice pub friendly staff. Got to say the ANPR camera and the necessity to log your number plate makes you feel more than a little tense. Not really sure why this is needed.

Fantastic roast dinner, have to say the best I’ve had for a long time. 5/5 service and food, came with the family. Great atmosphere, great food. Really good vegetarian roast also!

Food was delicious, very hard to find nice food. We didn't wait long as was a quiet Easter Sunday. Kids enjoyed their food. My daughter loved looking for the Eggs hidden around the venue. Parking was good. Everything was clean. Staff where polite and did a table check back which is a rare thing these day. All in all I would say I'd definitely return.

I have just had a lovely time here with my elderly Mum, daughter & son in law. We went for lunch. Initially we were going to have the traditional Sunday roast but changed our minds after seeing anther diner eating one - it was HUGE and one portion would easily have fed two of us. We settled for Braised Featherblade steak, Keralan cauliflower & pepper curry, Chicken breast & vegetable skewer and Chicken tikka masala. The portions were more than ample and each dish was delicious. The pub is large, clean, welcoming & friendly. Sarah the landlady was the perfect host. The restaurant prices were spot on and with drinks, the whole meal came to £50, which is amazing value for money. We cannot wait to go again.

We arranged to hold a lunch for 28 family and friends after my Dad’s funeral . Carl and Sarah could not have been more helpful and supportive as we planned the lunch. On the day, service was friendly, welcoming and very efficient. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Huge thanks to everyone at The Blue Bell. I’ll certainly be returning.

Very quiet when we went, think we were the only ones in there. The service was great and good food. Standard Holts' pub menu, but a much nicer atmosphere inside than some of the other Holts pubs'. The food came piping hot and XL dessert sizes. Will return and hope it is busier on our next visit.

Pie was overcooked but otherwise good.

Out on a long walk today, been turn away from (crowded house} because I had my pet with me. What a breath of fresh air landing on the bluebell pub we were welcomed here which was fantastic food was nice and thumbs up for being very progressive and forward thinking to allow well behaved dogs in. Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Arrived with friends and ordered the cheese and onion pie which I have had many times here . It was completely different to what I have had before !!! The pastry was heavy but when cut into the pie the filling was just horrid ! It was just mush and didn’t even look like a cheese and onion pie , it was dark and just complete mush !!! The chips and peas had seen better days too , not very hot and looked like they had been left standing for a while ! Very disappointed and we have decided to avoid for a while and try somewhere else for our get go together next time . Shame because the staff were great as always .

We visited weekday afternoon, quick service, great value and definitely would recommend the buttermilk chicken burger or the hanging kebabs Also visited for a family birthday, very accommodating Make sure you enter your car registration on the way in at the bar to avoid a fine for parking on the car park!

Had a meal, it was busy but we didn't have to wait long at all. The food was absolutely beautiful, big portions, piping hot. We don't live in the area but we are already planning on coming for another meal. Brilliant.

Met up with some relatives for a very enjoyable carvery lunch and pint. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and there was no problem allowing the dogs inside on a wet day. Prices are still very reasonable as well. We'll certainly be going back there, especially since it's so close to Springwater Park.

We have been visiting the blue bell for a few years spontaneously! After moving closer we decided to try to make it our local obviously with Covid it as been very hard we did manage a 80 th birthday party which was managed very well (Lee was the manager at the time ) just recently we have visited as a couple and a family Firstly the staff are very unmotivated and stand around talking or on phones while queues are forming ! The slush machine as been broken for 8 weeks ! Their as been NO horse radish for a Sunday lunch for 4 weeks ! The toilets are in need of a very good clean as as the outside area and door way ,also the clock as been broke for over 8 weeks . The blue bell as a lot of potential to be a very busy pub and eating venue if someone was to manage it and the staff !!!

I've been here many many times, But on the last couple of occasions it just hasn't been the same. It feels like something has changed, The food is nice and good value but at one time it was a lot better it felt like a real bargain because the food was that good. They seemed to be short staffed as the same two people were running the bar and serving the food. Multiple condiments were being left on one table in the restaurant awaiting to be refilled and replaced. The fire door was open, causing the restaurant to be cold as there were people sitting outside. A closer could be installed to resolve the issue. A couple of disappointing visits, but i will go back because I know how good this place can be.

Booked a table for 3 for mothers day meal at 5.30pm. Even thought we’d booked we still had to find staff to tell us which table was ours. We were seated at a dirt table that hadn’t been cleaned. Went and ordered food and drinks within minutes as we already knew what we wanted. After 20minutes a staff member came to tell us there was no chicken left for Sunday dinner. We hadn’t ordered chicken, I’d ordered Turkey. 1 hour later and still no food! Had to ask a member of staff where it was to be told it would arrive soon. 10 minutes later it arrived. Unfortunately we had no cutlery or condiments and had to find our own. Service is slow but this was beyond that. If you don’t mind a long wait even at quieter times then fine but I won’t be going again. Used to be an amazing place for food but to be honest the turkey was dry and the veg overcooked.

Well it was a late decision to go for something to eat as I was at work until 6:30pm on a Sunday, to keep the country going. The wife found this and thought we’d give it a go. It turned out to be a great choice and the legend had the chicken hanging kebabs, which were cooked to perfection. She had the tikka masala curry and was properly please with it too. Did’t let me try it though, and that’s a negative, although admittedly not against the venue.Finished with deserts. Malteser ice cream knickerbockerglory thing, and cheese cake with pure amounts of sugar on it. Still buzzing now. All in all a fantastic visit. 10 on 10.

We used to eat here regularly, but the last two meals have been awful, so won’t be back. Last time, we ordered the cheese and onion pie. When it arrived, it had clearly been precooked and warmed up in a microwave. It was just a soggy, stodgy mess.This evening we ordered the hanging kebabs. The halloumi one wasn’t actually hanging, as we were told it just fell down. It was served with two wafer thin pieces of pitta, which were dry and a salad, whose dressing was just oil. It was like pouring cooking oil onto a salad.The sticky toffee pudding was more like a Christmas pudding. I was expecting a light fluffy sponge and received a stodgy, flat, heavy pudding. At over £5, it was very disappointing.Not sure what has happened to this place. Two poor meals on the trot, means I won’t be returning. You need to up your game, given the wealth of excellent eateries in nearby trendy Whitefield!

As a place open Sunday mornings and equidistant from a number of my friends, we tend to stop there and have a late breakfast /early lunch. BUT despite their outward helpfulness and listening while keying in order..it is ALWAYS wrong!

The food was bland and the place has the atmosphere of a poorly run mortuary. The pub side looked OK if you are of a certain age, male, and wish to spend all day in a pub.

I went with my daughter and 2 grandchildren for an early tea. The food was all over cooked and dry. It made us rhunk that the food had been reheated. The sausage were tough and tasted sour the kiev burnt. Won’t be returning.

I tried to eat it as was starving, but it really wasn't edible.. not sure when it was cooked but must have been some time ago and then microwaved to its final death!! Even the beans were awful as were the chips.. lad came to take the plate and I told him I wasn't happy.. not one person from the management approached me.. an absolute embarrassment ... thanks for a crap meal and shi#e customer service!!!(sorry for the language)

A Holts brewery pub, so you know what you are getting, which is good standard English food in decent surroundings.
