Great place. Very unique as you are sitting in the caves of Nottingham. Worth a visit

What a gem, the cave rooms are like nothing else and they have a great selection of food on tap.

The caves are beautiful, and are complimented beautifully by Alexa Hawksworth, who serenaded us as we enjoyed a glass of Prosecco in the immaculate caves. The bar staff were attentive to our every need and they have a fantastic selection of beer, from lager to real ale. I’d recommend it to everyone. Perfect whether it’s a catch up with mates or a first date, very well run by a passionate manager who answered every and any question I had! 5 stars all round!

Had Sunday lunch for the first time with the original chef back and the new manager. Truly excellent, as good as it used to be. Service and staff were excellent. Fantastic food and drink, with real attention to the real ale. A tap takeover from the Bang the Elephant brewery with some excellent beers. It's good to see a welcome return to form on all fronts. Very much worth the walk up Derby Road.

Excellent food and service! I can personally recommend the Belly Pork and the chocolate orange rice pudding. You will not be disappointed!

Came here tonight with a group of 12 for our Christmas meal. We were given 2 tables which we weren't happy with as we wanted to be seated together so had to move these ourselves. We then had to wait ages for our food despite pre-ordering. Mine was forgotten about so I had to wait an hour and a half for my main meal which I ate alone as everyone else had finished theirs. The food was very nice however when it came. I was offered a free dessert in apology for the wait. Serving staff were great but it wasn't exactly busy.

Nice traditional and quirky pub part set in to the famous Nottingham caves. Great selection of ales. Really friendly staff.

Vinimos el domingo pasado a comer como clientes y antes de sentarnos compramos bebidas en el bar. A mitad de camino ordenando que el barman se fuera sin explicación y comenzó a lavar vasos en el otro extremo del bar, nos dejó allí de pie preguntándonos qué estaba pasando antes de que su colega viniera y se hiciera cargo. Tomó unos 20 minutos para conseguir nuestras bebidas y pedir comida. La comida llegó menos 1 almuerzo. Esperamos y después de 5 minutos sin apariencia de almuerzo perdido preguntamos dónde estaba. Barman regresó y después de verificar dijo que había habido una confusión y que saldría en breve. Tuvimos que empezar nuestra comida antes de que se enfriara. Esperamos otros 20 minutos para que llegara el almuerzo, para este momento todos habíamos comido aparte de 1. Llegó el almuerzo que faltaba y estaba sobre la mesa sin decir ni una palabra, ni siquiera una disculpa por la confusión y la larga espera. La comida tampoco era la mejor. El cordero estaba demasiado cocido y el cerdo del vientre era graso y gelatinoso. Las verduras asadas estaban demasiado cocidas y casi negras por debajo. El relleno sólo podría describirse como un bloque de pedestal insulso. Realmente decepcionante, ya que este lugar nos fue recomendado. También se puso una reseña en su página de redes sociales pero extrañamente desapareció al día siguiente, solo las reseñas que las complementaban siguieron el ritmo. Hay muchos mejores lugares para comer en la zona de Canning Circus. Les concedí 1 punto en la revisión, ya que tenía que hacerlo para poder publicar. Toda la experiencia fue horrible - la comida y el personal. Este lugar merece cero puntos.

Had a roast and it was beautiful. Lovely pork belly, so juicy and falls apart in your mouth. My grandma asked for the beef well done as she’d seen other beef was a bit pink for her, and the chef got it right. The gravy and veggies were great and flavourful. Staff were really friendly and attentive. It’s a shame they couldn’t take tip on card!

Amazing pub that we recently discovered. This place has a nice laid back atmosphere and an cool cave to enjoy their great selection of beers or lovely Sunday roast in. Well worth a visit(s)

Beautiful pub with a unique interior being built into the caves. The Sunday roast was delicious, a good selection of wines, really friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back again.

Glad someone who knows what they’re doing is in charge of this brilliant pub. Beer was tasting absolutely fantastic when I went in. Service was excellent and the new refurbishment pays respect to the caves and really shows them off. I look forward to returning for food and more pints.

Otro gran almuerzo de domingo. Empecé con el kebab de pollo seguido por la carne asada, la carne estaba muy tierna y cocinada perfectamente. Estábamos sentados en lo profundo de la cueva que dio un gran ambiente. El personal era muy atento. Gran servicio bien hecho chicos

Friendly staff and best of all excellent pints of bass and budvar lager

Tenía tantas ganas de esta comida, había oído que hicieron un encantador almuerzo de domingo en un entorno encantador, bueno, el entorno era lo único encantador de ella. Todos tuvimos la carne de res y las botas viejas como dice el dicho. Ninguno de nosotros tenía una porción decente. Se lo hice saber pero ni siquiera fue una disculpa. Llevó la carne a casa para perros. No iré de nuevo. Muy embarazoso cuando te has llevado a la gente contigo, pensando que iba a ser genial.

Comida realmente horrible. Almuerzo del domingo, carne de res cocinada en exceso y sospechosamente ‘comprada’ rodeada de verduras de sabor similar. Sin condimentos aparentes y tan mal presentados. Nadar en salsa sin condimentar fue una selección de verduras en capas completamente carentes de sabor. No puedo creer que este restaurante haya recibido buenas críticas. Es terrible. El vientre de cerdo que mi compañero pidió también era duro y no comestible y carecía de sabor. Lo sentimos, pero para un entorno tan encantador, necesita un chef adecuado para aprovechar el entorno original e histórico que pueda producir buena comida fresca presentada con bengala.

Disappointed. Really tough beef for Sunday lunch, far too much on the plate with little flavour.

The Sunday roast was amazing and, if there were to be any criticism, I would say there was a hell of a lot 😅 but every single mouthful was absolutely incredible and I'd happily come again! Outstanding food and service!!!

Great pub and great hosts that serve excellent and varied beer at a great price and with great banter. The Bishop's Farewell (Oakham Ales) on tap currently is excellent. Well done to the chap who suggested that.

Lovely and unusual pub,good selection of beers, Well worth a visit.

Their website says they're open until 1am. We've just walked a distance up a hill to be told they don't open that late.

I arranged my birthday bash here, Gary and Craig were absolutely brilliant hosts. They arranged to have part of the venue reserved for the party. Luckily this was the area that is carved out of the sandstone, making it a unique venue. The buffet was absolutely superb, several guests said it was the best they’d ever had, praise indeed. Coupled with a great selection of beers made for a wonderful evening. I can happily recommend the H&H for either a casual drink or a one off party at a very special venue.

One of the best pub Sunday dinners to enjoy and in the setting of a cave! The chef does a fantastic job and nothings too much trouble and those Yorkshire puddings are out of this world, the staff serving are attentive and welcoming, such a friendly feel to a great pub! Huge portion sizes that will leave you full and satisfied until Monday.

Amazing pub, since it's had a makeover it's one of our favourite places to go and luckily it's a 5 minute walk from us. Sunday dinner is a must in the cave, portion sizes are the biggest I've seen! The Yorkshire puddings are amazing, lots of vegetables, roasts and a choice of 3 meats. The staff are friendly and attentive and welcoming. Always recommend it to family and friends!

What a shame ! Ten people spending £400 on food, plus a lot on drinks before hand were treated like dirt once we complained. Never were we asked during the meal (Sunday lunch ) how the food was and to be honest when your chatting and enjoying your day with friends you don’t really start putting it together until we’ll into the main. The starters were lovely and no complaints there but, over cooked under seasoned and poor were the general issues. I never re salt or season my meals but, yesterday I had to three times re salt, pepper and add horse radish, mint sauce AND! Mustard to get any flavour. Deep fried stuffing balls and roast Potatoes. Inedible butternut squash wellington and totally fatty and cheap cut of belly pork! Over cooked lamb and beef. Very grey and stiff. Burnt Yorkshire's, and the piste de resistance … the cauliflower cheese which was bare and flavourless cauliflower in a dish with a luminous yellow cheese sauce , which was confirmed by the chef as squeezy cheese! No matter though. We would of gladly just paid and left but for such a bad attitude of the owners/chef. When asked how the food was when clearing ten really still quite full plates one of our party said “do you want the honest answer” they said NO! Told they never had complaints after I tried to explain we all have bad days. There was a definite attitude problem with the owners and a refusal to even consider addressing the problems. Just one butternut squash dish was refunded. I was then told I was disgusting and they wanted me out the premises, after I said that you now have ten complaints in one party. To which the owner/chef also said. The complaints have come from ten people who had been drinking !!!! So apparently spending money in their premises “drinking” means you have no ability to complain I had had two gin and tonics but that point. Turning away what would have eventually been £1000 near as and lots of future business

Met for Sunday lunch a party of 10 really good atmosphere in the bar. When we sat dow to eat after a couple of drinks the starters were genuinely great, however the main courses when they came out were not so good. No one came to check on the food, but we were all chatting. There was a lot of un eaten food on plates when the table was cleared and as they cleared they asked if all was ok. At this point we made it clear it was not ok. There was a lot of food left on plates. We had over ordered on side dishes so that was fine, but a lot of the left food was the main course, fatty pork belly, overcooked beef and lamb and a very unappealing veggie roast. Rather than discussing normally the management became very defensive and eventually agreed to refund the vegetarian food. It’s such a shame as I really enjoyed this place in the past, but based on the attitude of the management and the quality of main courses I will not be going back.

We were looking yesterday for somewhere to have Sunday lunch and found this place by chance and what a find. Friendly welcome at the bar, we asked if we could eat expecting we should of booked but we were accomadated at ease. We chose the Sunday roast and loved it, very fresh and tasty. Would definitely recommend this place if in Notts, ten minutes walk from the centre and 100% worth it. Same time next month for us!

Fantastic pub, great interior. Not had food but an excellent range of beers.

Very good Sunday roast with nice quality ingredients. The Harvest Pale real ale was superb and in good condition. Maybe do some more jazz and vintage music in the background as used to do that with the previous owner and worked well for a laid back Sunday vibe.

Finally managed a visit after passing on route home so many times and it was a great experience. From the selection of drinks to the disco in the toilet cave, we shall definitely be visiting again 😊

Lovely pub and great to see back open, the Gents in charge are fantastic. Wide range of beers on cask and draught. Often events on throughout the week including an open mic night. Definitely worth a visit

Vibrant pub with quirky sandstone features, good real ale selection and friendly staff.

Unusual place. Stumbled upon it when going to see a show at theatre Royal. Its inside a cave! Very quirky. Very good service. We had Sunday lunch. Ordered and served very quickly which was great. Only got 3 stars as the beef was over cooked. Other than that it was fine. Did think the lunches were pricey for what they were

Came across this gem of a pub, great atmosphere, lots of choice of cask ales. Certainly didn’t expect an amazing cave to be eating in. Both food and bar service was faultless. We all had the lamb and it was amazing. We will be back very soon. Unfortunately the management had to deal with a difficult party, table situation but they handled the very difficult situation calmly and professionally. Well done

All I can say is what a Wonderful pair the managers are. They keep the establishment to a point of Excellence. We have had a brilliant evening and conversation. Beverley

And also I want to add I have videos and prophe of the behaviour by the chef there was nobody in the restaurant there was 6 people in the bar we were eating our food and the behaviour of the chef was ridiculous and horenose and and yes we did get upset because u were shouting and screaming in my face calling us name saying this is what you lot do giving racist name calling which is unacceptable but this is what this establishment thinks is OK

Drinking beer in a cave..what's not to like!!

Looks like a great place but the pint of Bass was absolutely terrible, way past its best. Yes I was offered a replacement/refund but that ale was beyond awful…no excuse serving chip vinegar as beer.

Daniel was amazing as a staff member serving us. The food was amazing!! Vibe was fabulous!! We were screaming with laughter and really enjoyed ourselves 😁

Kids took me for mothering Sunday it was absolutely fantastic loved it Staff where polite, kind and made you feel very welcome, food was amazing 👏 5stars all the way

I chose this place to start our date night and was very happy I did! Cool cave restaurant and great food. Was very helpful over the phone when booking.

Epic atmosphere. Very relaxed, love the sound of people chatting and laughing. And the environment is unique. An absolute must visit for anyone in Notts

Excellent choice of ales friendly atmosphere

We visited this Pub for the first time since it reopened and had some Tapas, a bit odd for a Pub! The Tapas was good quality, although they offered a Fish Cake that was not big for 7 Pounds, very expensive for one small fishcake. It's a total rip off. They should give people 2 surely for this big price. I won't be going back. How can these people delude themselves thinking they can charge so much for so little. You can almost buy a full meal in a pub elsewhere! Regards Mike Bower

Amazing place and food to match There is something surreal about being in a cave. If you get to sit down and have a meal it's even better. The staff were very friendly, the food was amazing. Great experience, can't wait to go again.

Called in for a few pints and it was really good. A great selection of beers and wines. With some board games to play in the pub as well. The place looks great and I would definitely come back again and try the food next time.

First visit since the place reopened. Still highly recommended, friendly service, lovely setting in the cave and tasty food. We will be back again soon

Nice pub set into the sandstone rock

Ordered the 3 for £18 tapas. Food arrived and before we had tried it, was asked if everything was ok. Explained that we had not tried anything yet. The Ckicken Kebab was so over cooked & tough it could not be taken off the skewer. Asked again if all ok and I told them this. The response was " I'll let the chef know". No replacement or refund was offered. Drinks fine but overpriced, friendly enough. Would we recommend or return. Sadly NOT.

Went here with my boyfriend for lunch and we were met with friendly staff and great food. Highly recommend the meatball ciabatta- was lush! The place was noticeably spotless and had a great atmosphere. Will definitely be going back.

Heard about the refurbishment so thought we’d try the Sunday Lunch. It’s so much brighter and welcoming than a few years ago when last here. Service was very good and the roast beef was amazing, mates lamb was apparently very good too. Apple crumble was perfect for this cold weather! Young lad serving was very good. Will definitely be back.

Just re opened, we received a lovely warm welcome. Lovely and clean great choice of beers and other drinks. Inc coffees. They will be doing food soon too so will definitely be returning.

Recently re-opened under great new owners who are renovating it. Same great choice of beers with Camra discount. Food coming soon.

Went to see what it was like since reopening. Only went for a drink, so I can't comment on the food. Good service, quite popular, seems like they've opened up more of the cave area, still get the "cave" smell but has the quirky atmosphere. Well worth a visit

Cool caves inside. But they played an S Club 7 greatest hits on repeat for the entire time we were there.

Background music was too loud and more to the taste of the bar staff rather than the vast majority of the customers. Has lost that intimate feeling.

Popped in for a few after hearing about the substantial renovation, and it is amazing here now! Loved the spectacular variety of beers on tap & cask. Vibes were brilliant. And above all else, it's been beautifully done and is great to be having beers in the caves.

Went here when I was a student in the late 80s. Glorious. Drank snakebite and black with a double vodka in the bottom and flaming drambuis. And Barry cashed cheques. Glorious

Good food and wine and something different

Excellent—best roast and dinner we’ve had in Nottingham. Tried the lamb, pork, and beef (pictured) roasts and couldn’t decide which we liked best. Staff were delightful and the place was gorgeous.
