The Hampi in South Gloucestershire

Visited couple of weeks back for dinner. Authentic South Indian taste & proactive team !!! Planning to make another dinner sometime soon🙂

We found this little gem whilst spending a couple of days in the area, the food was absolutely first class in quality and quantity and as a regular restaurant diner for decades and having visited hundreds of venues serving curries worldwide I can honesty say this was one of the best I have ever tasted, with real genuine home cooked perefectly prepared fresh dishes.

Excellent Veggie Indian food, great service, nice ambience . Perhaps best Dosa ( south Indian pan cake) in any Indian restaurant around UK.

Wonderful "no meat" restaurant. A new chef trying a different take away from traditional Indian curries with a taste of southern India Cuisine. Street food specialist with plate dishes. Masala Dosa, Bhajji, dahi puris and other street foods are a delight. Best to eat-in.

Service was excellent, the food was freshly cooked and delicious. Good portion size and very nice environment.Great experience.

Delicious meal and lovely people. First time for me in a purely vegetarian Indian restaurant having always erred on traditional Indian meat dishes, however, the dishes here were deep in flavour, rich in colour, and left me wanting more... It's only been open 4 weeks, so come on down, there's a table here for you! I'm hooked!

I ordered takeaway food for 7 people. Apart from the desserts, I almost ordered everything included in the menu. Appetizer - Gobi Manchurian and Dahi Puri, Apart from plain dosa all dosa varieties, Kadai Paneer, Vegetable Korma, Jeera rice and Roti were my items. Everybody loved everything that came in. It was all finger licking good. Amazing restaurant choice for vegetarian options.

Came in to the Hampi tonight. Not what I expected, fully vegetarian and to my utter Suprise amazing food. Having never eaten in a vegetarian before, although not converted, I will definitely not shy away from them in future. I will definitely come back to the Hampi next time I’m in the area. Food was great, service was really warm and friendly.

I had gobi manchurian and dahi puri, and i was totalllllyyyy blown away. Very good food , music- feels like home and so relaxed. If you want to chillax- come to this place. !!!!!!

Lovely restaurant with friendly, very helpful service. Menu is totally vegetarian (great for our family), and someone talked us through all the vegan options. Note: the menu is a little different to usual Indian restaurants so take advantage of the staff recommendations - they know what they’re talking about! Will definitely be returning 🙂

Best Indian Restaurant in Bristol highly recommend

Finally found an authentic Indian food serving restaurant in the Bristol. I had heard a lot about the Masala Dosa at Hampi. This was the first item I tried here (obviously) based on the reviews from a few of the friends who had visited last week. The chef's special "Butter Masala Dosa" was awesome. Then I had to try other items on the menu. I decided to go with "The Hampi Broccoli" a side dish and "Channa Masal" & "Hara Paneer" two of the Chef's suggested curries and "Batura" a kind of Indian bread. Mind-blowing food. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to taste authentic Indian food.

Today we are visiting the hampi restaurant. it is the one of the best place for Indian food specially starters . And our servers Laxmi is very attending and serv a good service. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO VISIT AT ONCE.

Lovely authentic food. Great street food. Fully vegetarian Rice dishes a sort of savoury rice pudding Not great beers to be honest. Even just a cobra or tiger as option would be good

After over a year of driving past the window and hoping for the sign to change from Closed to Open, it’s now open again. The people are so friendly, the chef is amazing and the food is great. Fantastic restaurant.

This is the first time of using Hampi as a take away and sadly will not be using again !!! The onion bhajis were so burnt that they disintegrated when bitten into. The onions and peppers were raw in my curry. They poppodoms were stale, naan bread cold and generally very unpleasant. Will definitely not use again.

Had a great meal. Very well presented to us. No rush for us to go. A lovely evening. Thank you. 🙂

Nice staff and food but was empty and forgot to give doggy bag. But when realised offered to make another dish.

Mi esposa y yo hemos comido en este restaurante durante varios años. En nuestra opinión, dio un paso atrás cuando se convirtió por primera vez en Hampi, el menú no era de nuestro gusto, los precios subieron y el ambiente no era muy bueno, ya que las últimas veces que fuimos éramos los únicos allí. Ayer decidimos intentarlo de nuevo, la primera vez desde que se volvió a abrir desde el bloqueo hace una semana más o menos. Guauu ! Que diferencia ! Este pequeño restaurante ha vuelto a su mejor momento. El gerente que lo está ejecutando es muy amable y no puede hacer más por usted. La comida es excelente y el menú es mucho más convencional nuevamente con todos los favoritos tradicionales que gustan a todos. Seguro que volveremos a ser comensales habituales aquí. Ya he reservado de nuevo para la semana que viene.

Lovely modern decor, super friendly staff and they cater for gluten free including a GF Cobra. Definitely try the onion bhaji they are a must. Food was top notch.

The food here was absolutely amazing and the staff were brilliant. The food is different to your standard Indian restaurant cuisine and deserves much praise. I’m vegan and my other half is a carnivore but we were really pleased with our meals, best Indian food we have had for a very long time. It’s brilliant to have a top quality Indian restaurant in the area and deserves the support of the community. If it was in the centre it would be full of hipsters every night heaping much deserved praise on the wonderful food. I’m already looking forward to my next visit the food was the best Indian food I’ve eaten in a very long time. 10/10

While on a business trip to Bristol, myself and my colleagues booked into Hampi for an evening meal. The restaurant is very modern and a lovely place to sit. The staff were very friendly and as none of us had been there before, they took the time to explain the menu and what was in each dish. The food itself was beautifully presented and was delicious. Cooked to perfection and portions that were big enough to fill but not so big there was waste. Highly recommended trying Hampi as I'm sure if you like Indian food you will love it here.

We came here on a Wednesday evening was greeted and seated, the restaurant looked very clean and modern and the menu was very different to other restaurants we have visited in the past, we were not sure what to order but our waiter who was excellent and very knowledgeable recommend a few currys we had the lal mass which was amazing and we had the balti chicken which was amazing full of flavour we also had some sides and breads, all in all an excellent evening, I would like to thank our waiter who amazing I didn't get get his name but he was wearing a black shirt,..

Have just eaten here. It is a beautiful setting and the food is magnificent. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It is somewhere that we will visit regularily.

I would rate this 0 star. I went to this restorent after it was promoted in one of the WhatsApp group for kannada community. Felt cheated with both quAlity and quantity of the food for price. As soon we entered, the waiter did not feel happy and instead of welcoming the customer his response was "CAN I HELP YOU". We ordered chicken Shashlik, , akki Girmit,Mulagairotti, holige and naan bread. Chicken shashlik had 4 cubes of chicken for £12!!! Girmit was not girmit! Holige was stuffed naan :( Please avoid. Dont even try!!

Wonderful food, atmosphere and service. Can't find a fault. Had the prawn sigid it was absolutely gorgeous, nice and hot but the heat didn't last too long so could enjoy the taste of the rest of the meal. Will be back for more. Really tasty authentic South Indian cuisine. Highly recommend paying them a visit.

I visited on Tuesday with a friend of mine, not knowing it had relaunched as The Hampi. I decided to try the dishes marked as Hampi specials, as I was in the mood to try something different. They were great, and a completely new dining experience compared to most Indian cuisine in the Bristol area. I had the Indian flat beans, Mulgayi, and Holige sweet bread. I loved every bite, and will definitely be visiting again soon. Love the concept, and the staff were incredibly polite and friendly, and we had great service. Thoroughly recommended.

Ordered a takeaway, 1 missing curry, 1 wrong strength curry, 1 ???? Wrong curry( not sure but not like my usual dish). I could understand if the restaurant was busy ( not sure about the take away) but there was only 1 table of 7-8. Was given a refund of 2 curry’s, thank you, I am looking for a new Indian restuarant, such a disapointment.

We have visited this restaurant under two previous owners but this was our first visit under the new management but it won't be the last. We had a lovely relaxed meal and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The restaurant has been refurbished and looks clean and modern. The food was cooked fresh to order and was absolutely delicious. My chicken was marinated in spices and cooked in the tandoori oven and the naan was soft and fragrant. Service was attentive but not too overbearing. With drinks the meal worked out just under £30 a head but we considered it good value. Well worth a visit.

The most horrible food that I have ate in my life. You know why, because the food wasn’t served properly or not even getting served! The food was so hard that my husband said ‘it was a good hand exercise for him’ . The food didn’t have salt nor pepper in the food!

Me and my family went there for my 14th birthday thinking it was still mahek when we went in there we were pleasantly surprised that they have changed the interior and made the menu smaller and simple. Despite the small menu the food don’t disappoint and we would definitely recommend this restaurant a 10/10. The customer service was great they weren’t in your face but they made sure you were ok and well looked after

This is a completely different restaurant from Our beloved Mahek’s. Very different Vibe. I can see what they are trying to do but any Indian takeaway that charges the same price to eat in must be think they are located in Chelsea not Filton! Not for me based on that pretentious decision. Searching for a new takeaway that provides the Mahek magic.

Great restaurant, had a great meal, i was talking to the chef very nice chap, he told me that he used to be the chef at kohi noor on whiteladies clifton, no wonder i liked the food i used to go to kohi noor every 2 weeks. Overall the hampi is a nice restaurant with friendly staff and delicious fresh food unlike other restaurants.

We visited friday evening, no one in the restaurant, very small portions, and limited items on menu.very over priced food and drinks!! The gentle didn't stop sneezing and coughing over everything, didn't even cover his mouth. A job to understand his speech as he mumbles. Would not be returning.

Expensive no discount food not as nice

New name now called Hampi, good food but smaller portions and higher prices, fine dining not for those that like big meals.

My second meal from the Mahak which was very expensive for what it was. Full restaurant price for a take away. The menu has changed so be warned that they may not offer what you want or that the new prices are similar to the previous ones. As last time my garlic nan wasn’t. No taste of garlic and no sign of garlic visible. Nice nan just not a garlic nan. The sag aloo very good with a good balance of sag and aloo. My chicken rezala had many hot green chillis, too hot for me, but little chicken. Portions were not generous with only the rice container filled, the rest had plenty of air gap. Sorry but I will not return as for me it represented very poor value for money

We booked a table at this restaurant over 3 weeks ago for last nigh 18/11/2019 , we walked so we could have a few drinks however when we got there they were shut. The note on the window said shut due to preparing for Xmas they couldn’t even be bothered to let us know they wouldn’t be open. I was angry as this was a meal out for my Birthday luckily the Raj Pavilions was open which is a far better Indian restaurant so we went there. So if you book at Mahek just check they will actually be open on the night you’ve booked for, unfortunately we will not be giving them a second chance COMPLETE let down.
