The Halfway House in Bradford

My partner and I went for a meal at lunchtime and we had our 6 month old baby with us. The food was lovely, but the staff were fantastic, particularly Cerys. Cerys was very friendly and welcoming. She was so lovely with our daughter.

Often drive past the Halfway House and today we decided to pop in for lunch – and what a fantastic decision that was! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfectly setting the tone for a cozy meal. Kate and Max provided attentive, friendly service that made us feel truly welcome.

Food was amazing! Service fe9m Kate and Max was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back.

We had a lovely Sunday roast here, would definitely come again - The sticky toffee pudding was out of this world (and I’ve tasted my fair share!). Kate was super friendly and attentive to all of our dietary needs, thanks Kate!

Really pleasant lunch - had the steak sandwich, meat was good quality and flavoursome. Nice clean environment. Marked lower on atmosphere simply because it was quiet, so hard to judge any particular vibe.

Visited on New Years Day for lunch. Lovely food, friendly service, and a cosy relaxing atmosphere. Although we didn’t take the dog this time, it is dog friendly with blankets, biscuits & water available for your furry friend.

Christmas dinner was booked weeks in advance for 7 people as we decided to have this on boxing day instead of the traditional Christmas day. We arrived 1 hour early to enjoy a festive drink at the bar and the staff were informed of our arrival. We chose the festive menu, 2 of the starters and 2 of the main courses were unavailable, Including Christmas dinner so we were left with a choice of cod or beef cheeks. We then had to choose from the main menu but again steak and beef burger as well as some starters were not available. It was far too late to leave and try to find somewhere else, especially at Christmas, we also had a 4 year old child with us Staff did not charge for the starters as a gesture of good will but we all ended up eating food we didn't particularly want. Certainly a different Christmas eating fish or pies and hunters chicken etc. Thank you very much for spoiling our christmas dinner. UPDATE After leaving this review I was contacted by the halfway house w asked us to return for a meal on them. We returned on the 5th January for Sunday roast and could not fault the food and service. As I previously pointed out we have dined many times before and always had excellent food and service. Visited tonight and had a lovely meal with the family. All our meals came really quickly so big thanks to chefs Ben and Beth!! The service from the waiters and waitresses was really good and they made us feel right at home. Max, Charley and Kate were all brilliant. I had the lamb shank shepherds pie which was brilliant and the specials looked delicious too. Thanks for a great meal :)

A lovely visit with family. The food was incredible and came promptly thanks to chefs Ben and Beth. Service was friendly and the waiters and waitresses were happy to help, thank you Max, Charley and Kate for making our evening so lovely!

Great dinner and the pub accommodated a ten people booking. Great food and service. Would recommend the steak pie and signature burger. Kate, Charley and Max looked after us and were very attentive.

Lovely venue and very helpful and personable staff but the food on the Sunday we spent there was very limited even when things are missing from my plate because they've run out they still charge full price. At the prices they charge its unacceptable.

Very very disappointed in our recent visit on Boxing Day. Booked well in advance for a family meal only to arrive to be informed half of the set menu not available. No options were available to switch items from the mai menu so very very limited. The food on arrival was average at best. The fish was baked to an inch if it’s life and was practically inedible and the cheesecake dessert was presented with frozen fruit that was inedible. Staff also didn’t seem to have a clue what was going on. Top and bottom of this is will never go back and look for somewhere else to have family meals in the area

If you want ok food and overpriced drinks this is for you. Food ok had better. Waitress quite abrupt and didn't listen to special dietary needs, had to send food back to be changed .

I came for tea here with my family and was served by; Beth, Gee, Max and Ben. The food was lovley and I will definitely be returning in the near future. The atmosphere and service was outstanding and I couldn’t recommend it more.

Was part of a table of 11 celebrating a friends 60th birthday. Lovely setting, great choice of food of which we all enjoyed. Lovely friendly staff. Special thanks to Beth & Katie for great service and looking after us all.

Service is impeccable, Cerys was particularly good, the right amount of attentiveness. The food has also improved since we last visited, a bit of a diamond in the rough, this place.

Had an amazing day here at my son's wedding. The staff were amazing and the food was just stunning. Can't recommend it higher if you want a meal drink or party place.

We had a wake for my dad in the function room earlier this week. Becki and the team did a fantastic job setting up the room and looking after us at a very challenging time. The food and drinks choices were spot on. Thank you.

We visit the Halfway House on a regular basis but last night was for my dad's birthday 🎂. We had a lovely meal, our servers were Kate and Gee, and nothing was too much trouble for them as they even put a candle into my dad's pudding and sang happy birthday. The food is amazing and the portion size is good. All meat is sourced locally and is good quality produce. There is a good selection of beers and Lager, and also nonalcoholic drinks too. They always make us feel welcome in this warm and friendly pub. It is also family and dog friendly with pooches bring allowed into the bar area. We came here for tea whilst staying at Hollins Hall for my birthday. The food was amazing, I had the Barbers smothered chicken and it was genuinely the tastiest chicken dish I've ever had! The decor was really nice and I particularly liked the ambience where the log fire is situated. The staff that looked after us were all very pleasant, Kate, Kaitlyn and Grace. Great choice of drinks on draught, we will most definitely return.

First time here today and I have to say it was lovely. The look and atmosphere is 10/10. Our server Beth and Pete were extremely friendly, smiley and knowledgeable about the food on offer. We will definitely return to try what else is on offer!

The lovely Farmer Kate made sure we was very well looked after, provided excellent service with a smile, made sure all of our needs were fulfilled and made us feel so welcome! She even went the extra step and put a little table decorations out for us (as it is the Autumnal Season) to make the visit that much better. Max behind the bar was also fantastic. He didn’t just serve us our drinks for the evening in a swift and precise manor, he also served us at our table and took care of desserts for us. He was funny and warming! This visit came with a big talk up but smashed the expectation out the park. Thank you to both Farmer Kate and Max for our first (but not last) visit so brilliant!

Excellent swift and smooth service from "`The Kate's" offering a helpful and friendly service. Food good however, overwhelmed by the size of the greens that made a good talking point :)

My saving grace for a week spent in a popular hotel in the area, best meal for the week!!! I ventured in on Thursday for dinner to a warm and inviting greeting by very friendly staff The food was fantastic, I had the salt and pepper squid, pork belly and apple pie with ice cream, everything tasted great and was nicely presented, the service was friendly: they made me felt as though I was a regular’. I would definitely recommend the Halfway House, and if I am ever in the area again I will definitely return. Special thanks to Kate who was helpful, friendly and engaging throughout My advice is do not have dinner at the popular hotel give this place a visit, you will absolutely LOVE IT!!!

An absolutely great place to eat. Last few times the food was out of this world. Chefs know what they're doing. Will definitely be back. Really good staff but the only - off is that you can be waiting at the bar to get served. Great with our choccy lab and Cocker. We've eaten inside(left as you go in) with the dogs and outside on the decking. See you soon.

We went for a (large) family celebration consisting of 10 adults, 4 young children and a baby. The service and the food was outstanding - the staff even left us complementary prosecco. We all would recommend this establishment and should we be back in the area we will definitely be returning.

Came in for Sunday lunch today was delicious couldn't fault. The side I ordered on the Sunday menu (honey and mustard sauages) was 10/10 will definitely be getting those again!

Came in last night to celebrate my husbands birthday with our 2 year old Son, Kate was our server for the evening and she was a delight, greeted us with a smile and was excellent with our Son. As we were ordering our meals, our Son exclaimed he wanted carrots and without prompt Kate added those to his meal as an extra. Kate checked in with us multiple times during the evening and really. made our evening special. Our food was delicious and we will be coming back in the future.

Best Sunday Roast I’ve had for a long time. Excellent menu and delicious food. Atmosphere lovely, comfortable and relaxed. Service second to none, Pete was extremely polite, friendly and professional. All round an excellent experience, cannot fault the place.

Had a lovely meal here with my partner! Beth had lots of knowledge of all the gins and found a lovely pink one I loved, and my partner was very fond of the cask ales. The Belhaven Scorcher was a firm favourite of his. For food I had the special pork loin and it was absolutely delicious, partner stayed more traditional with a shepherds pie that was absolutely massive and super tasty, we were too full for pudding but will definitely be back!

Booked a table online. The server was very polite. I had the 2 courses for £16.50. The crispy squid was cooked to perfection and was delicious. The burger was amazing, cannot fault it.

Popped in this evening as there was an offer on for a' Friend dines free" From the moment we walked in Kate looked after us superbly, explained the menu as to what was included in the offer. Pointed out the Special of the Day Menu which we took.Food was very nice.Peach & Brie Summer Salad with Hot Honey and Balsamic for my better half,I chose the hearty Pork loin & Bubble and Squeak, both well presented and prepared. Washed down with a couple of wine and Ales. Beth followed up with Dessert for us, Sorbet&,Ice Cream and the Apple Pie with Coconut Ice cream for me. Perfect finish to a summery afternoon on the patio dining area. Thank you Kate & Beth. How service should be performed. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lovely Chef and Brewer pub, friendly welcome and service from the team. They rang us earlier in the day to say they'd only got Beef left if we were having Sunday roast which was appreciated. All the food was excellent and really enjoyable. Lovely atmosphere and lovely decor too.

We came here twice in one weekend whilst visiting our daughter. The meals we had on Saturday evening were delicious and the service from Pete and Liv was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble! After such a great time Saturday, we decided to try out the breakfasts they offer on Sunday morning and safe to say we were not disappointed! The food tasted fresh and was worth the money! Our server Kate also made sure we were well looked after! Will absolutely be returning!

Brilliant pub great service. Always greeted with a smile. Popped in for a drink after shopjng and Kate always remembers us and our 'usual' drinks. We always bring visitors here for a meal too.

Lovely pub restaurant, nicely decorated and friendly staff. Good selection of gastro pub food and yummy desserts. I've eaten here several times now and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. A nice outdoor seating area that would be lovely on a warm summer's evening. They also have a wedding suite and function room. Plenty of free car parking spaces.

Wonderful from start to finish, the team really made us feel welcome and the hospitality was superb throughout the visit. I ate the roasted Halibut from the specials menu and my elderly father had the Gammon steak that came with fresh grilled pineapple and an egg too, he said it was delicious! We both had a salted caramel sundae for pudding which was really tasty. We can’t wait to return to sample more of the menu, thanks to Pete, Courtney and the rest of the team for looking after us so well.

Stopped for a quick breakfast, food was delicious and we were looked after by a lovely host called Beth! We will be coming back again!
