The Half Moon in Bradford

We were disappointed with our meal. The pub was extremely quiet ; yet the food was very Luke warm and all the ingredients on our plate were jumbled up on a heap with very little discernible flavour

Thought Id pop back in to see if anything had changed since my last visit. I was sadly mistaken, I knew this as I saw the same owners. I ordered some food to see if the standard had improved but boy was I wrong. When I expressed my disappointment to the waitress I was then approached by the owner in a rude and aggressive attitude which ultimately led me to leave the premises. Do not visit this place.

I’m gutted we don’t live closer. This was the best Sunday roast I’ve had in a long time. There was six of us & a dog. We were all happy and full of lovely staff.

Lovely pub, warm local feel. The two staff me members that were serving were very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious!

We ordered a delivery roast from hers last Sunday and it was amazing. Food was hot and very big portions. Six different vegetables, roast potatoes, meat and massive Yorkshire pudding. Delivered at requested time. Will definitely order again.

Nice pub good food, however unwilling to make any adjustment to the menu at all, none of the requests were outrageous? Female staff member delivered every no with a grimacy smile though!

The food we had was delicious, staff friendly, lovely warm welcoming pub. Dogs are welcome in all areas. The reason I have given three stars was issues we had with not being able to make adjustments to our food. For example one of our children is a bit of a fussy eater so we asked for a few alternatives (adjustments to the menu not new items) and they were not able to accommodate. This included asking for a extra corn on the cob which couldn’t happen due to the allocation of corn being exact to the steaks they went with. I then had to order the steak so she could have this, we did in the end get a portion of garlic bread but this was a challenge. Another example was I wanted the lamp rump but to swap the mash to chips, this was not allowed but I could swap to new potatoes. This did not make sense and also what happened to trying to meet the customers needs. Desserts were yummy but a children’s dessert menu or offering half portions as the cost adds up buying them adult size desserts. The food we ate was definitely four star but the above brought this down as it really impacted our experience.

I don't usually leave reviews but we had an awful experience here today unfortunately. We came as a family of 5, including our two young children and their grandmother, for Sunday lunch having booked a table a few days in advance. When we got there at our allotted time, our table wasn't ready and we were told we would have to sit outside until our table was ready. Couldn't tell us how long it would be other than the table before us was overrunning and hadn't had their desserts yet. I could understand it happening on a busy Sunday but what was really unacceptable was was the rude manner of the staff - particularly the lady behind the bar who seemed to be in charge - she was very rude and there was no apology or acknowledgement that it could be down to trying to book too many people in (there was even a hint it was the fault of those at the table because they had chosen to have dessert). We ended up just leaving given the attitude (to which we just received a shrug from the staff) and we won't be back.

Another excellent meal. Pork belly bites. Very sumptuous. Everyone loved their choices and the usual warm welcome and service from Clare.

lovely food but can you warrant 7.50 for a pint of birra morretti we not in London no wonder people can't afford to go out and 6.95 for Guinness crazy drink prices shame really as food so good

Had lunch here today for the first time. Great menu choices and freshly cooked to order.The dining area has a great atmosphere, service is very friendly and helpful. And we must not fail to give a mention to Elwood the resident labrador who is a very well trained "meeter & greeter". Highly recommended and we will definitely return. Fabulous pub just outside bridport. The menu was interesting and the food was cooked excellently. Service was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere was lovely and the decor with the abundance of cook books and fairy lights really set the scene. Food os sourced from local suppliers and home made. It was an excellent way to end our family holiday. If you're there in the summer there's also a big beer garden and also a covered marquee for drizzly days. Highly recommended

Amazing place , staff work so hard running backwards and forwards with good . Gold star given by me . My partner treated me to three courses all Spectacular , will definatly be returning . first course , stuffed mushroom for me , pork belly triple cooked for my partner both delicious , main was huge burger with pulled pork inside and last but not least dessert ..was raspberry and white chocolate panocotta and choc fudge cake which was huge . Visited here after a cider tasting. From the minute we got here until the minute we left this pub is fantastic! The lady who served us was really good. Prompt and very hospitable. The food was also excellent. The steak pie was brilliant and the chicken nuggets on the kids menu were seemingly freshly made. My daughter loved it. This pub is an absolute gem not just for the food but also the service! I just wish it was closer!

Came here for my birthday with the family really beautiful little pub the staff are really welcoming and friendly providing excellent service the food is Absolutely delicious too! This was a great find. Dinner was absolutely amazing! I had a GF sausages and mash, and my partner had belly pork! All cooked to perfection. I had a pudding and he had a cheese board, and both were exceptionally good. We also returned the following day for Sunday lunch and they did not disappoint. This is not a place you can sit at the bar and drink. It's warm, inviting and a fantastic place to eat. Definitely go and try it.

We live in Essex and visited for Sunday lunch before we headed home! Must admit, we’ve tried over 30 pub lunches in the south east & this is up there with the best! So much veg & gammon was delicious! Highly recommend!

We had a fab lunch at the Half Moon today- every bit as good as the reviews suggested it would be. We will definitely return. Really good choices to suit everyone, food beautifully cooked, and really friendly service. What a gem!

We ordered a delivery from the Half Moon, one of several we have had this past couple of years and aside from one or two items that weren’t included in the delivery eg salad, fries, tartare sauce (the salad and fries were quickly delivered) the service was everything we have come to expect, courteous and on time. My gripe is twofold. Firstly that the food isn’t cheap and a little more care over packing it would have been appreciated so as to ensure we had everything we were paying for. The second is, that on every occasion we have ordered a roast dinner from the Half Moon, the vegetables have been almost inedible. They are rock hard and barely seem to have seen any heat. Oh the last occasion my partners sprouts were virtually raw so whilst the meat was lovely and the other aspects of the food were very nice, the veg really needs some work. This is not to knock the overall quality of the food nor the delivery but rather things that might, could, should be improved.

Having read recent reviews about this pub, we booked for lunch, and we were not disappointed. It was quiet in the pub, which suited us as we were in no rush. Starters were tasty and sufficient, though not huge, but the main courses were really good, beautifully presented and generous. We wouldn't hesitate to return and recommend it.

We have heard great things about the Sunday Roast, so when I found out they were delivering and had gluten free option we went for it and we were not disappointed. Delivery was on time ( actually 5mins early and food still nice and hot), really helpful lovely staff/ landlords; Clare & Jamie.The Roast was a huge portion of lean beef , crispy roasties and an amazing selection of vegetables (7 different ones!) . Very reasonably priced ( we used the November discount I spotted on Intstagram too which was a fantastic deal).We will definately be ordering again, will visit the Half Moon pub next time as the menu looks tempting and the pub looks very inviting . Really appreciated by my myself and daughter Rosey ( both coeliac) . We were so full afterwards!

We had Sunday lunch and it's the best we've ever eaten. Perfect thin sliced medium been. Fantastic al dented vegetables which were all delicious. Great cider and wine and at great prices. Recommended

100% recommend this pub. We went as a group of friends and all of us had the most amazing roast dinners. The staff were so lovely, very efficient and helpful - they helped plan our walk back to where we were staying as we were visiting for a few days. So very impressed. They do cocktails too!

Clare and Jamie rightly deserve their recent accolade as The Moon Moon has stood tall in the community in some difficult times. The occasion was another birthday and we had a relaxed lunch with good food and drink. A hearty dollop of bubble and and squeak topped with a poached egg and a side of maple bacon, and a generous smoked fish board which came with a pot of whitebait and relish. Always a pleasure to come and be spoiled here.

My goodness what a total gem. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the Sunday roast consisted of 13 items (amazing chicken and a wonderful plate of fresh veggies). We cannot recommend this pub enough as it was exceedingly great value. Do book. Thank you for an amazing meal and please pass on our appreciation to the all the staff for making us feel so welcome.

Following a long walk (we were running very late) we arrived at The Half Moon at 2pm (they were closing at 3pm) .I did wonder whether we would have time to eat, however they fitted us in and we managed a couple of courses of very good food and drinks. The staff did their very best for us given the time allowed. We had always planned to get a taxi back to our campsite but hadn’t factored in lack of phone service. The landlady tried to call on her landline to get us a taxi but they were all very busy due to an event in Bridport. Wondering what we could do and not looking forward to another long walk, the landlord very kindly offered to drop us back to our campsite. We were so grateful for his offer, given they were re-opening again at 5pm and it was eating into his own time, this was a very kind gesture. We were quite overwhelmed by his generosity. Would highly recommend, lovely people and great food, what more could you ask for.

By this stage of our visit to Dorset we had worked out that if it's a Palmer's pub then you are probably not going to go wrong and the Half Moon didn't disappoint and actually served up the best food of the four Palmers pubs that we visited, just. I'm not much of a burger man but was tempted by the Half Moon burger and loved it while Madam thoroughly enjoyed her Thai beef salad. I normally get the odd leftover from her plate, but not tonight. We shared a cheesecake but in hindsight should have ordered two. We'd had a lovely time on the beach and this was a perfect finale to the day.

After reading such good reviews we were looking forward to dining here, but we were thoroughly disappointed! The steak was tough and overcooked. The vegetables cold, the chicken kiev’s dry and tasteless. Not a cheap meal and expected much more from such a highly rated Gastro Pub. The one star is for the friendly staff.

A lovely friendly small village pub, very COVID aware throughout and felt very safe, very friendly staff and absolutely lovely food! A very nice spaced out gazebo to eat underneath if weather isn’t so good to sit in the garden, would definatly recommend a visit.

This place was the only one I could find in the whole area that wasnt already fully booked. I was excited for this visit as I'd read previous reviews saying how great the staff are, and how good the food is. They were 100% right about the staff - wonderful, accommodating, friendly and efficient. They ensured we were all taking care of during our early dinner visit. I originally ordered the chicken but was told later that this was unavailable so I ordered the thai beef salad. This is where I felt a tad let down. The beef wasn't steak (which is what I assumed it would be), but rather cold cuts - not very appetising at all. I did nearly change my order but as my husband and daughter said 'don't be a Karen, mum!'. So I didn't say anything. Saying that, all the other dishes served to the table were fine. Another thing is I wished there was a better choice of dessert.Overall, a good visit, with lovely staff, and a wonderful atmosphere with good music, however I would probably not return based on the meal I was offered.

Fantastic pub, garden and superb food when you can actually get served!! Regulars who live locally popped in for a drink and a small bite to eat. Pub happily busy but not rammed. Young unhelpful staff lacking in customer service, and couldn’t even get a bowl of chips, despite most tables being empty! The land lady is lovely but even she did not return to say they could or could not serve us having asked if we were eating tonight?? Earlier being told too busy to serve!! So not leaving a negative comment but seriously service needs some attention!! Please, love the pub but won’t bother despite the good food if we get poor service again! The Acorn at Evershot know how to do it whether busy or not. You’ve got all got all that space, and supported you through Covid so please sort it out

We as a family of three went to the Half Moon for the first time today for a Sunday lunch. In one single word "incredible " we have never tasted a roast like it, went for the large three meats plate! Separate vegetables were served that had been steamed and cooked to perfection! Our waitress was very attentive making sure all was to our satisfaction. Would we be returning? (Let's think about that?) Ha ha! MOST DEFINITELY!

Another amazing Sunday lunch for Mary & me. Sirloin beef superbly cooked & full of flavour. Yorkshire just right, scrumptious roast potatoes, parsnips, and a selection of 6 veg cooked perfectly. Generous portions too - a delicious challenge! In a class of its own for quality food.

This is an excellent gastropub near Beaminster serving fantastic food. We had the Thai beef salad, pork bites and duck bonbons. For dessert, we shared the chocolate mousse which was a real winner! All the dishes were excellent and the portions large. The staff were all attentive and very friendly. I would recommend that you book a table in advance as the pub was full the evening we visited. They had to turn away a number of walk-in guests.

Enthusiastic return after previous visit for lunch in January 2019 where I received a warm welcome on a cold day. Unfortunately it was the opposite this time.

My wife and I had dinner here whilst staying in a cottage nearby. It is a fairly standard country pub on a main road and with rather limited parking. However, the food was good and the portions enormous! I am a big eater, but even I had difficulty.My wife's requirements for gluten-free food were fully understood and met and, overall, I cannot find any significant fault with this place.Prices were surprisingly good and we would have visited again had there not been so many decent eateries in the vicinity.

Today we had lunch with our dearest friends that we have not seen for 12 months. We chose the Half Moon because of previous bookings and their proactive approach throughout the lockdowns. They had robust covid practices in place, a lovely external marquee, heated, lights and generally on the mark. The food was gorgeous, so tasty, plentiful and nicely presented. We will definitely go again

If there is one thing you should do before you keel over is go to The Half Moon and try their food. They have amazing customer service from the get go, great COVID regulations, ths canopee was such a lovely atmosphere with beautiful lights and fire heaters. Wildflowers and brilliant music. Such a lovely atmosphere all round and the food was to die for. It was absolutely delicious and we are definitely going back. Hopefully every year! This is a lovely pub with a big garden and covered seating. Food was so yummy I visited 3 times in a month!Portions are generous, food fresh and service fast. The Sunday roast was gorgeous, plenty of fresh veg and lots of meat. All the staff were friendly and went out of their way to help us.I would recommend trying their cocktails too, the dark and stormy was my personal favourite but the espresso martini was very good too.

Last minute decision to eat out as we were camping locally. Booked a table online and arrived an hour later. The staff knew who we were when we arrived. Covid procedures taken very seriously and we were shown to our table in the marquee in a timely manner. The food was delivered promptly from a good choice and a wide drinks menu. Very generous portions indeed and we were both very happy with the quality of our meal which was clearly fresh and cooked to order. Ultra friendly and efficient service. Highly recommended and we will return next time we are in the area

In these uncertain times it is great to fine a restaurant which takes COVID seriously. The welcome was great, attention paid to our allergies and promptly service. The food was delicious and generous portions.

We were made welcome from the minute we arrived, The staff were very friendly but also totally professional. We chose the thai beef salad and sweet potato fries from a good variety of options. The taste was superb and portions were excellent. Many thanks to the staff for a fantastic visit which will certainly be repeated in the very near future. As an aside the covid procedures were also excellent with some very carefully thought out ideas.

On the plus side the helping was large, especially the yorkshire pud! However, the yorkshire pud was stone cold. Good quantity of meat and nicely cooked potatoes but most of the veg was frozen.! Cauliflower in particular had nasty taste, broccoli was tastless and only the mangetout appeared fresh. I really don't like frozen veg with a Sunday lunch and for me that spoilt what could have been a very good lunch.One other thing. As a couple I used the NHS app to log into venue. I assumed that would be sufficient but my husband was asked to complete a form as he didn't have the app on his phone - seemed ridiculous!

This was the most local pub to our campsite and had great reviews... nothing was great about it. £7 for 3 pork belly “bites”, inedible, fatty and tasted awful, had to complain and ask for a refund. Definitely microwaved because they were cold in the middle. Main courses were “marginally” better although I could only eat half. Silly prices for very poor quality beef burger which was way over cooked (or microwaved ), pulled pork topping had 0 meat in, and chips which had lots of salt on. They did mention it was a new menu so I imagine all of the previous good reviews are based on the old menu...When confronted about these problems the staff didn’t know what to say and were quite obviously aware this was all being microwaved. The icing on the cake was our waiter who was actually very nice had long and extremely dirty finger nails. Cringe. Don’t mind paying for expensive food but prices need to reflect the quality. Completely underwhelmed and would warn anyone in the area to stay away.

Read the good reviews online however this experience was far from what was expected, pork belly was cold in the middle (definitely microwaved) the sauce is came with was dreadful the consistency of tar! The food was well presented but it was very clear even the burgers were just processed meat, don’t mind paying 14£ for a burger and chips but this was taking the Michael. To top it off I was sick about 4-5 hours after this meal. Definitely would not recommend. I also overheard another guest complaining that their food was cold in the middle which resulted in the staff taking it back. Quality of food awful. Service was ok.
