Don’t be put off by the drab looking outside and the interior decor, the food is fantastic. We stopped on the off chance of getting a table, the place was empty. We ordered drinks and to be honest nearly walked out. The place badly needs bringing upto date. We didn’t and decided to order, we didn’t expect the food to be brilliant but to be honest it was. Good food reasonably priced what more can you ask for.

Our dinner was freshly prepared and really fantastic! It has a lot to offer vegetarians. I recommend choosing a few of the smaller dishes so that you can enjoy all that they have on offer.

Enjoyed another meal at the ghurka, this time as a takeaway. I ordered the Taplejung Dumbarton, which was lovely albeit a bit hotter than I usually like. Nice, friendly service too. Thanks again.

Been there 3 times now whilst in Nottingham on business. This is not your average curry house - the food is different - and delicious. The owner is polite and attentive, and obviously takes great pride in their menu. Yes they do the regular dishes you've had at your local curry house but the owner will steer you towards something you've never had before. Take his advice - you won't be disappointed.

We were in Nottingham to visit my Mum in hospital and arranged to go to the Gurkha although usually it is not open on a Sunday evening. Four of us had a fabulous meal, we had rice with our meal and my sister and her husband had warm nan with theirs and when I saw it I wished that I had had some too! Nothing was left -sign of an excellent meal or may be us being greedy. We were warned that the cash machine was playing up so we paid cash. A memorable meal.

Prompt, polite and attentive service but in no way intrusive. The food was excellent so much so we tried to kidnap the chef and bring him home:-) Highly recommend this Restaurant.

Visited The Gurkha while in Nottingham for the Ice Hockey Elite league playoffs. This restaurant is a absolute gem the food is without doubt the best Curry Style I have tasted. Nothing is to much trouble the chef comes and asks if it's OK he has no worries on that score and when you eventually leave you have got a new friend. He is really passionate about his food nothing pleases him more than to make sure you have a memorable experience.

After having a poor meal.they decided to tell us that they don't take credit cards .which I think we should have been told before we ate. Then we would of had a choice.so we then had to walk to a cash machine to get cash.a really poor organisation. If u eat here take cash or its a walk to cash machine.

Great Gurkha food and service. Unfortunately the momos were out of stock when we went but we'll be back. Delicious fresh and zingy starters and equally lovely mains. Friendly service including the chef who comes out to check your meal was good. Great naan breads too. My girlfriend's first Gurkha experience and she was bowled over! Thanks guys!

We ate here for the first time last night, for a family birthday meal. The restaurant is small, and the decor simple but very neat and clean, and the atmosphere very nice. The service and food were excellent, and the cost very reasonable. It was a Wednesday night but business was obviously good.

I've have tried many Indian restaurants and can honestly say that the Gurkha (by Ish), Mansfield Rd, is by far the best and I've now become a regular. The food is absolutely amazing, full of flavour and very reasonably priced. The service is great, very friendly staff including the Chef. I would highly recommend them.

I have made numerous visits to this restaurant and it never fails to impress. The food is amazing, Ish the chef and host can definitely cook. I love the Nepalese dishes as they are so full of flavour, and the chef will always spice it up a bit if required. Washed down with a few Gurkha beers, it's become my favourite place to eat. Good food, great service and reasonably priced, this restaurant is well worth a visit.

We love The Gurkha - food is faultless and for less than £25 each we had a starter and main each with bottle of plonk - very reasonable - but to top it all, the service is like no other - super friendly, as if round your best friend's house, always up for a bit of a chat - equally will leave you to enjoy their amazing cooking - you will not leave disappointed. But don't worry about looking at these reviews, just go - it is a must for any discerning palate!

I visited this restaurant when it was Gurkha one, and absolutely loved it. Couldn't fault a thing! The food was fab, service was brilliant and the owners are lovely!! Booked a table again a few months after and wasn't told that it has changed hands, on arrival I noticed the name change and soon realised the restaurant had infact moved locations and these people were trying to pass off as Gurkha one! Service was slow, and I didn't even eat my main course as my starter was that awful. I wasn't asked what was wrong by the waiter he just took it away. Will never return and would never ever ever recommend this place!

I frequented this "restaurant" last Saturday night, a very small place thought I'd give it a whirl. Unfortunately, I confused it with the award-winning Gurkha One which used to be based there and has since moved to Rolleston near Newark. The food was bland, the waiter smelled of body odour badly (deodorant anyone?!) and on the way in the occupants of the attached Paramount hotel looked like they were extras from Trainspotting! Dont even get me going on the toilets, they are an ebarrassment to the landlord and restaurant, someone should tell the council about those!! In short, expensive for what it was and a terrible all round experience!!!

I have lived in Nottingham most of my life and the Paramount hotel has had different restaurants attached in this time. The Gurkha is the best to date... as the food and service was exceptional. If you like Indian cuisine then you should try Nepalese as you will love the dishes they offer. The restaurant is clean and fresh looking and the Chef and owner is welcoming and has time to explain the dishes and also gives you a little bit of his career history. The only down side is the location as it is easy to miss however don't let this put you off as it is on the main route into the city centre and has very good bars surrounding it if you don't fancy a heavy night in town. The prices are reasonable and the food was delicious.Worth the visit

Went to this restaurant as it was close to hotel. What a GREAT decision. The waiter made several recommendations after it was asked for advice on Nepalese food and the choices did not disappoint. So much flavour in the food gluttony could easily have set in. The chef came out of the kitchen to check everything was fine and gave advice on the main course chosen. While paying for the meal a tip was left as the service had been so much more than most restaurants. It was explained after the money was collected that this is all sent to Nepal to help rebuild a school after the earthquake there. A nice touch to a great night.Well Done
