On arriving at camber sands we were passed a menu from a guy walking around the site. We drove and picked up a takeaway the next night and tonight we went to the restaurant. We ordered the banquet set meal the good was lovely and we couldn't eat all of it. The attention to detail and care from the waiters was great and it's a shame we live so far away else we'd be regulars

Was recommended this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. Everything about the experience was 5* my only regret is that this establishment is 160 miles from home. Highly recommended...

I order every 3 to 4 weeks it's always been amazing and I alway's pay the same amount of money but tonight I thought I would order something extra well to my surprise i got charged an extra £20.00 I even got a phone call off one of the workers from a mobile number not the business asking me for my security code on the back of my card I've never doubted them before. I also spoke with the manager he said he would ring back but never did. DON'T USE THIS TAKE- AWAY IF YOU USING CARD.....

The Guljar Tandoori Lydd, Romney Marsh On our last night of our holiday in Camber Sands we went for dinner at The Guljar Tandoori Restaurant. We had a very warm welcome by Mohammed who explained the menu of the Banquet Night. We ordered our food and soon had our starters which was well presented and delicious. The mains soon followed which was very plentiful and very tasty, each dish had its distinct taste and flavour. Everyone in our group was filled at the end of the meal. Yousuf at front of house was very friendly and professional in his approach. The set Banquet was very good value. The desert menu was not reflective of the food menu, it looked like pre-prepared desserts and not Indian based so we didn’t have desert. Overall very good food and good value.

Booked a family table for 8. Had the buffet meal, lots of choice. Food all cooked fresh, food was lovely as ever. Staff very friendly and polite. Thank you Dill and team for a lovely evening.

Ordered a take away, good to see Dill again, perfect meal as always, booked a table for the 17 May 2021 as you can start eating in again, can't wait looking forward to the good service and good food

Had a takeaway from the Guljar last night. When we got back we found that 3 of what we had been given were the wrong dishes. We ordered Keema Rice and Kasmir Pilau rice but all we got was one portion of normal Pilau Rice. We got some kind of potato chips in skins instead of the Keema rice. The food was stone cold when we got back 5 minutes later. I called the Guljar and they were retty rude on the phone and said I had had the correct order. Yeak OK. I told them forget it. Rude people who pass off incorrect food as correct. Never again

First and last time. Awful, too much salt and mushrooms tasted out of date and perfumed. Didn't taste like authentic curry. In fact didn't taste like curry. Oh well a bowl of cornflakes instead.

Food was either luke warm or stone cold.Wrong nann bread delivered, one was correct.Chicken was very chewy.Did not get the correct chutney.Popadoms were soft.Rice was tasty.Sauces were nice.One person enjoyed their dinner.Very disappointed.Was staying in the area for a friends birthday, decided a take away. Wish we'd cooked something that paid £45.00 for what we recived.

Very helpful and accommodating of our vegan diet. Tried lots of different dishes between us - all delicious. We’ll definitely go back.

I haven’t dined in the restaurant for a long time - usually having a takeaway for home. Very warm welcome, friendly service and delicious food. I think the table in the window is my favourite for good conversation with my business associates! Very much recommended!

We are new to the area and having read the reviews decided to visit the Guljar.The first thing to say is that this is a family owned restaurant and it shows. The enthusiasm and perfectionism shine through in every detail from the impeccable cleanliness to the absolutely delicious food. Even the tablecloths and napkins are high quality linen. What an amazing find. The owner and his staff are kind and warm hearted.

Ordered at 5.30 arrived at 8 not correct order.Called many times to establish delivery but no response or put on hold. Dry chicken. Not great experience.

We've been out of the area so it's been a year since we last had a meal at the Guljar. Tonight's meal we really enjoyed, the prawn dhansak, fish bhuna and chicken curry from the house special menu was excellent. The naan breads and popodums were very good. It was a quiet Thursday night so the service was very quick, expect a longer wait at the weekend

Delicious food and fantastic staff for my sons birthday! Also received a voucher, birthday card and a cake for him too. Will definitely be returning.

Our local Indian so we go here a lot , very friendly service, banquet is Sunday - Thursday. My mum said best Indian she has had in a very long time.

We experienced very bad customer service, and the food was warm not even hot neither was the hot plates. our friend got given a cake and to give it back to her to take home they got a bit of cardboard out of the bin and gave her that to put it on. as we left one of the men called us back and said they would not accept one of the £20 note... this is because it had a slight rip in! they then held two out of the five of us there until it was changed and said we could not leave without getting a different one. overall the food was horrendous and would never be going back, all of us also felt sick after this experience and will not be going back.

Our local ‘Curry House’ we are never disappointed. The food is delicious and the service is spot on - you are made to feel special - I love the fact you are not rushed you are able to enjoy an evening of fantastic food.

Not been in the area before but wanted to take my partner out for an Indian on his birthday. I looked at some reviews online and found that The Guljar was a popular choice! And they did not disappoint.

Always use The Guljar for eating in or a take away. Banquet nights are great. Food amazing freshy cooked, portion sizes good, staff very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend. Well done Dill, credit to you and your team.

Love the food, never had a bad meal, always very helpful and polite, delivery service very good too, once an item was forgotten and it was delivered in minutes.

Spending a famiy holiday in Pontins Camber Sands and was looking for a restaurant to celebrate a birthday dinner. Had a leaflet that was handed to us in the beach and we called and to our amazement Dil the owner, offered to come and pick us up from Pontins (around 5 miles) and took us to the restaurant and back again free of charge after we finish.

Popped down here to grab a curry while we was away it was lovely my man in thier done me a special garlic chicken mushroom balti with vindaloo sauce and it was lovely I'll be seeing you soon

Ordered a takeaway, all I can say is that perhaps the chef has changed as food was awful. Binned the lot!

we have had trouble trying to find a decent Indian take away, we have tried several in New Romney where we live but have been left very disappointed, it would appear that we have found our go to take away from now on, very happy with food, delivery and prices.

On arriving we a recived a warm welcome from the staff and thing’s only got better.

We love coming here - food fantastic. The staff make you feel very welcome. Celebrated my husbands birthday looking forward to returning again soon.

Have not eaten in for a long time normally have a take away. Ate the £11.95 buffet had a lovely, wonderful meal, freshly cooked food served hot, well presented, staff friendly and very welcoming, service very good, well done Dill and staff A+++++++++ would defo go back. ( if you can't eat all your food ask for a doggy bag)

We have 'eaten in' several times, as have other members of the family, but this time I decided on a 'takeaway' as I was home alone. Service was excellent and the food well cooked, portion sizes were good and the meal was very tasty. I especially liked the lentil & spinach side dish as this was spot-on and worked well with the lamb Madras. Will happily return.......

The best curry I've had in years. Fantastic staff and authentic food. The naan's were light and fluffy. The damask was authentically sour. The chilli paneer was superb. We'll be back. It's a shame we don't live nearer.

Última noche orden y tuvimos un servicio increíble. Me dijeron una hora por pedido en línea sitio pero llamado 20 minutos declarando solo dejar. La comida estaba bien preparado, con un montón de reunirse en el curry. Felizmente la orden de nuevo.

Have enjoyed many great meals in restaurant, however takeway service is a bit of hit or miss! If we had ordered in restaurant what we ordered for takeaway this Friday we would have sent it back. Hubby ordered a organ, was nothing like a organ, tasteless! I ordered a balti, chicken was perfect but sauce was strong and again nothing like a balti! Never delivered very hot either

Really enjoyed our meal last night. New to the area and trying the local restaurants with decent reviews. Wasn't disappointed with this place, the staff were friendly and the dishes we had were excellent, great flavour and generous portions. The dhansak was very good! This is an unpretentious place serving good food, hopefully it doesn't change hands or they change the chef's!!! Definitely going to come back again...

My husband and I ate here tonight. The welcome was warm, the food was lovely and very reasonably priced. The manager was chatty and informative. This place deserves to do well as they are really personable. Portions are huge and top quality. We will be back. Well done!

Ordered the chicken tikka masala here and it was one of the best I've ever had. Lovely naan, rice and chips too. Overall a great wee restaurant for the remoteness of the location. Highly recommended.

Went here with family for my husbands birthday ,the food was excellent as usual ,the staff were friendly and helpful as we had our 7year old grandson with us so the chef mad a special curry just for him (not to hot and spicey and without cream )We had a very enjoyable evening.

A tardis not, but a wonderful place for some inventive and we'll prepared Indian Cusine, good use of spices, stable menu, favourites and some nice twists. Book. Waiting times vary for table service. Competing takeaway business is good but possible distraction for chef. A jolly nice meal with some great friends.

Our last night in Lydd so we came to the Guljar. Really going to miss this place. If it was anywhere else you'd have book a table.Consistently good quality and value.

Found this Indian by stopping at the supermarket, took the name, read the reviews, placed an on line order! great if you are hard of hearing, it arrived on time and it was perfect, a lovely curry so glad we found you. Point Farm B&B in Camber will certainly recommend, need to collect a few menus.

We found this restaurant in Lydd and were very glad we did. Lovely and clean with great tasting food and they just couldn't do enough for us. This was by far the best restaurant we ate at during our week at Camber Sands.The prices weren't to expensive either. Well Done The Guljar - you certainly know how to cook and treat your customers. Having moved recently to Lydd we are thrilled to find the Guljar. The food is excellent, the service professional and unbelievably welcoming. Fantastic value for money. We highly recommend and will most certainly be counting ourselves among their loyal and returning customers.

Whilst staying in Camber we decided on an Indian takeaway and ordered delivery from Guljar. Delivery was a little later than originally advised, but not by much. Our naan was missed off the order but the food was delicious . Tender chicken and delightful sauces, lovely!

Tucked away beside/behind the Indian Takeaway in sleepy Lydd is a surprising little gem. Everything warranted the Excellent stamp from cleanliness through to the food but most of all the service. I would use the word exceptional for this.Several staff served us and they were all attentive but not pushy. We had never been before but felt like we were regular, valued clients. This was even on a Saturday night. What more can you ask of a small-town restaurant?

We happened upon the Guljar late on a Friday evening. The service was quick and efficient, the staff friendly and the food was easily the equal of our favourite curry houses. The decor is a little dated but this is more than offset by the lovely food. Really enjoyable.Thanks guys!

I stopped here on the strength of the trip advisor review and it was right. The decor needs a little work but this surpassed by the great tasting curries and sundries. Thank you for a lovely meal, I will be retiring in a few weeks.

We have been here before but on a Friday/ Saturday .They offer a " deal" on the other 5 nights a week. What a deal!! Starter and main with all the trimmings for a Tenner each. Outstanding !If that wasn't enough, they are really good people with smiling faces they can't do enough for you

Visited here last night as staying near by the staff are fantastic and friendly and the food is amazing the best I have had. We visited as a family with A young child and the restaurant was very accommodating for the child. When I am in that area again I will be back 100%

Our visit to camber wouldn't have been complete without a visit to the guljar... Full of flavour fabulous service and although they were packed out full attention was given to us. Highly recommended and I will continue to share with friends and family visiting locally to be sure to visit for a meal

this was our first visit to this restaurant and it will not be the last, we have passed by many times but not really realised it was a restaurant. The food was excellent and it was hot when it came to the table. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The menu varied and very easy to read. They also deliver. Prices are excellent. Can not wait for my next visit.

Been here several times now and spot on every time,. Tried different dishes each time and all as expected,. we go to India every year and this reminds me of it, great setting and always up to the standard that I expect. You won't be disappointed

We've now tried all of the Indian restaurants on Romney Marsh and this is by far our favourite. The food is excellent and the staff are so friendly and really helpful. The restaurant is bright and airy, nice atmosphere. Yes it could do with a lick of paint in places, but so could the Ritz! We paid £90 for a meal for 4, including starters, main courses, side orders, coffees and several beers. We've had takeaways too which are always delivered promptly and hot. Parking is available on the street.

The restaurant is looking a little bit tired in places (flaking paint) but the service is good and the food is delicious. I live in Hampshire but visit family in Lydd occasionally so I visit here 2-3 times a year. On my last visit, the Chicken Madras was possibly the best I have ever had and I have had a lot as an Indian food fan! Very good value and very tasty. Manager is always happy to see you so I would recommend this to anyone!

We had a lovely meal but the english style food was not quite as good which is as you would expect - our sonnwasn't very adventurous but on the whole the food was lovely. The staff were attentive at all times but we were not rushed or hurried.

I am an out of towner and was staying in Lydd with family. I was not expecting much as there is not a lot of choice of places to eat out in the town, so was very surprised that I had one of the best Indian meals I have ever had. The staff were very welcoming, the restaurant was clean and bright. The food was excellent and very flavoursome.

On arrival there is always someone to find us a suitable seat. The staff are extremely attentive and always happy to answer any questions about the food, particularly on our first visit where neither myself or my husband had eaten an Indian meal before. There is a lot of choice of starters, mains, sides and desserts and they are also happy to tweak any of their main dishes to suit if there is something you are not sure of or you want something added. Our son chose a rogan josh for flavour and had added chilli oil for more of a kick. The reason my title has "uncomfortable" in it is because the food was so good, even when full we still kept eating and even had sweets. We have been to this restaurant twice now and both times loved the food so much that we ate way more than was comfortable. This is not a bad thing, but a compliment to the food and just shows a bit of lack of self control on our part. Be warned, the servings and not for the feint hearted. Take a good appetite with you. I would say the price is on a level with most of the other local restaurants we have been to and you certainly get plenty of food for your money. Highly recommended.

Well what can I say? this restaurant never fails to please, the service is excellent as is the food and there is no waiting no matter how busy or how many takeaways are being ordered (and there are many) truly professional.

Absolutely wonderful food was amazing we live in London and were visiting family they accommodated 12 of us last min and the service was just great no stress at all which you find in most London restaurants when we visit. Nothing was problem even fussy eaters the management were very understanding and dealt with the children with a huge smile and made us all feel comfortable and happy. Best Indian meal I have eaten in a very long time and we will definitely be back when we visit the area again. Highly recommended

I use it mainly for take away,as do most people we order the same sort of things on every visit. But it is always good and consistent.Dining in is not so popular at this venue, if you choose to dine in you may be the only people there early in the week. Bring your own atmosphere !That said it would be great for a large party as there is little fear of disturbing others

Ordered a home delivery and was told it would be with us in 45 mins. When it had not arrived 55 mins later, phoned and was told on its way. Minutes later the delivery driver phoned asking where we were. This despite us having given the restaurant out full address and post code. Meal eventually turned up 1hr 5ins later, a bit cold.

Tried this restaurant whilst staying locally on holiday. After a bit of a shaky start (served old poppadoms,which were quickly replaced) we had a lovely meal. The food was very tasty and plentiful. The nan bread was amazing - so light! Service was attentive and, after paying the bill, the manager kindly offered us free drinks, which was a nice touch.

Great service, lovely people and amazing food. This is our first choice in the area for an indian meal! We adore Tandoori and this is the absolute best in the Romney Marsh. Our other must-have favourites are the Chili Chicken and Murgh Masala. This is a MUST try!
