Really roomy , lots of easy parking . Steps and ramp so easy for my friend who had baby in a buggy . Service was great , polite , friendly and attentive without feeling rushed . We were having a much needed girls lunch and the choice was fab . Varied menu Alf choices for all appetites . Vegetarian choices too . I had the coronation chicken wrap which came with a cute pot of delicious fried and coleslaw . It was yum . Hot chocolate was really smooth and delicious too . Will definitely go again and highly recommend .

We met here for a family breakfast. Food was appreciated by all. Superb coffee (hard to find in my opinion). Lunch menu not tried yet but will definitely be returning to try it

Fabulous beer and a great atmosphere. The volunteers behind the bar had a certain charm. Can't beat it for a wonderful night out

usually love this place but waited far to long for a simple chicken burger and chips. The chicken was dry and had a weird crust and the bun was also dry. However the chips and Diet Coke were amazing and the staff were very nice ❤️ (also the toilets were a bit untidy)

We wanted to have a late breakfast and we hadn't visited the Grumpy Goat for a while. We were surprised it was quiet when entering the premises; it is usually busy on a Saturday morning. As we sat down, I spotted the menu on the table and started reading it. I realised we were on time for breakfast but too early for lunch. But our great disappointment was to come when we read that the breakfast menu no longer had the full English. They used to serve the best full English in the area. Then we were surprised with the shortness of the lunch menu. This made us wondered where the customers have gone to justify such a change. Why bothering with breakfast and lunch and not just go for a brunch from 10:30 am which would include full English? We spotted 4 tables which had been used and the customers had left, two of them no longer than 10 minutes after we arrived. The entire time we were here, 45 mn, no onecame to clear up the tables. I would have said they were very busy, but no. That was not good. Then we has our cappuccino. These days lots of people in restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs serve cappuccino and make them very well. I don't think it's complicated and training sometime to sell the different types of cafes which are on a menu isn't rocket science. Our cappuccinos had a nice taste but as flat as an instant coffee. If you don't put frothy enough milk on a cappuccino, it is not a cappuccino. Then, before we left I used the toilets. There was hardly any loo paper left in any of the 3 female ones. This made me wondered if they had been cleaned and checked prior to the opening. This is such a shame, this place has massive potential so unless the goal is to turn it into a drinking pub, I would really expect the owner/manager to rethink about few things. However, lovely staff, chatty and polite. He just need some training.

We've been to the Grumpy Goat for coffee and cake a few times which always went fantastically well. That is to say, great, cheerful crew and amazing coffee (flat whites), and delicious cakes served with generous portions. Today was the first time I'd had a veggie breakfast there and it compares favourably with others I've had elsewhere. It comprised three avocado breaded fritters, large pieces of cheese, toast, tomato, beans (in a ramakin-class!), choice of scrambled or fried egg ( I had scrambled and it was tasty and plentiful), and mushrooms. It was presented well and didn't take an age to arrive. I left feeling satisfied in having very much enjoyed it and feeling full. I fully recommend you try this place for coffee and cake or a relaxed breakfast. We are yet to have lunch there but the menu is very enticing, so a must for the near future I think.

Popped down to The Grumpy Goat for lunch and certainly wasn’t disappointed. We ordered the Bacon, Brie and Chilli Jam ciabatta as well as an off-menu Ham and Cheese ciabatta, where both were delicious! Top quality food, generous portions and served with a smile. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I’ve been to The Grumpy Goat on many occasions and always receive a warm and friendly welcome. All of the staff work exceptionally hard to provide a good service and the experience is made even better knowing you support a locally run business. I will continue to eat, drink and socialise here and it is an excellent addition to the village.

Waited 30 minutes for two sandwiches which is fine if they were fresh, however it was obvious that the tuna sandwich which we ordered without cheese, had the remains of grated cheese still in it, and had obviously been made for sometime as the bread was hard, it also had chill jam stuck to it. When mentioned to the waitress, she said she understood what I was saying but did not offer a replacement or an alternative.

What a shame. Trying to support local. Second time I've been here and the experience was even worse today. Wasn't going to write a review about the crazy slow service (waited 45 minutes just to order a coffee let alone wait for it after ordering) or the one small slice of warm bread I was eventually served with a thin spread of avocado and one rash of bacon (for £7.00 plus £1.20 for bacon) we accepted this and other things all with no complaints. I'm writing purely because I was just appalled at how rude the manager was not only to me and my friends, but also to her poor waiting staff. I seemed to be the problem after simply reminding the poor waitress she had missed off the juices (as I didn't want it come out of her wages) and I didn't know exactly how much I was paying off the top of my head (even though the bill was incorrect). Let alone the fact we wanted to split the bill between us (being 6 ladies turning up separately) - which was met with such attitude and snarkey comments that it was our fault we should have told her before hand?! At which point we offered to pay the bill in total if it was a problem and got met with even more attitude and narky comments. Felt sorry for the poor waitress who just stood there feeling very uncomfortable who was simply trying to help. Today I left hungry and shocked at how rude she was. Truly. Won't be back now. Twice too many. It takes a lot for me to complain about somewhere, as I always try and give benefit of the doubt of people having bad days etc, but wow.

Having had a previously poor breakfast experience a while back I wasnt sure about visiting again but wanted to support somewhere local. We went for breakfast today and it was terrible to be honest. We arrived just before 10am on a Sunday, there were a handful of people but by no means busy. We sat down and then went to order.....they were already out of sausages; not a great start when you offer a full cooked breakfast. Whilst we waited for food to arrive one couple left having waited too long for just hot drinks. Our food eventually arrived after around half hour....well, two plates. The warm bread, certainly not toast, hadn't been buttered. The next two plates arrived, one order was wrong, the other wasn't even very hot. My sister sent hers back - scrambled egg on toast - and asked for the toast to actually be toasted and then buttered. 10 minutes later the warm bread was now buttered...when questioned the response was "its not a good toaster" Honestly, terrible. We won't be back.

We have been here to drink and eat at lunch and in the evenings many times and it has always been lovely. We decided to take parents for Sunday lunch. It was very disappointing for £14 each. Parents had roast beef and said ok. We had nut roast which I can only describe as a teaspoon of crumb. We got a handful of veg, 3 half roast potatoes and a Yorkshire. It was all luke warm. I wish places would stop taking photos of food in the kitchen and just bring it out before it goes cold. We will visit again as want to support local businesses but won't eat again.

We returned to the Grumpy Goat for breakfast last week after a gap of several months and was most disappointed with the offering. Previously you got a plateful of well-cooked food served with a smile; this time still a smile but very ungenerous portions and some of what you got was rather overcooked not to say burnt. There didn't appear to be a manager to whom we could complain but the Grumpy Goat cooks need to up their game if we are to return. (Coffee was good though!)

We visited the Grumpy Goat for the first time in months recently. Staff were friendly and it's a good atmosphere. Sadly though the food was pretty awful with a burger bun soaked in blood from the burger which fell apart, chicken that was dry and black and very dry tasteless fries. During covid we got takeaway from the Goat and it was amazing so we were very disappointed. Having had breakfast recently there have been lots of changes too. Portion sizes have shrunk dramatically and just aren't the same. Staff didn't offer us a reduction in our bill although friendly and unfortunately we won't be returning. Such a shame.

An exceptional roast in stunning surroundings at incredible value for money with spot on service. I think that’s all the elements covered. This was a faultless experience had by myself and my partner. The roast was absolutely gorgeous, we both had the celeriac wellington. Packed full of flavour and served pipping hot, 10/10 roast potatoes, then a huge selection of vegetables, extra gravy and stuffing. Complimentary sparkling water, linen napkins, sea salt and pepper grinders ( because they DO make the difference between good and great) in a buzzy atmosphere. Here’s the best bit…. £16. Yup, that’s no typo, This is without doubt, bang for buck the best value roast in or around Bury. I didn’t actually want to write this review as I wanted to keep this a hidden secret but the team have worked so hard to make this place work (it hasn’t for decades now) it would be rude not too. So enjoy….. I’d probably book
