Just finished a wonderful bowl of curried fish and shell fish. Recommend ordering a side of fries or bread to mop-up the fantastic curry sauce. Great service, friendly staff and scenic views over the Exe. Would recommend the Grove if you visit Exmouth, you will not be disappointed.

It was very good apart from the guy who first seemed annoyed that I asked for extra hot milk then that I wanted extra milk with my latte(because 2 shots is too strong and 1 isn't enough) in case he reads this and thinks I was being ridiculous. It doesn't hurt to put on a smile for 2 seconds...you'd think I'd asked him to milk a camel. I know they were busy but those little touches like being friendly make all the difference to your visit to a pub. They say in London people can be a bit unfriendly which I've never encountered in a pub asking for extra hot milk and extra milk...I'm not being a diva , I only drink coffee, it's my alcohol , what's the harm??? I don't want to be nasty just honest, hopefully if I ever see him again he may smile...

We were a family party of 7 adults and 2 children for Sunday lunch celebrating my daughter's 40th birthday . Our waitress Sophie had an attitude from the off. We'd booked three weeks ago for 9 people to find we were on a table with only 8 chairs but a request for an extra chair wasn't well received. We ordered drinks but were then told it was a 40 minute wait for food (not ideal with a 6 and 4 year old in the group) When serving the drinks Sophie very abruptly said it would help if my daughter moved her bag from the back of her chair. We were made to feel like a total inconvenience and the only reason I didn't complain at the time is that I didn't want to spoil what should have been a lovely family celebration. Every adult in our group could not believe how grumpy Sophie was. I appreciate how hard things are in hospitality these days but a simple welcome and service with a smile is priceless.

I am Exmouth born and bred (for better or worse!) and we love this pub - we use it regularly. Lovely building on the seafront with amazing views across the estuary. We came here as a party of 20 for a 50th birthday dinner. Pre-orders were needed and provided for everyone and the pre-event contact was very good from Gemma and Will. We had the room upstairs and were sat on two tables. Great. Food was generally good although we all thought it was a bit overpriced but hey-ho! Service seemed fraught, the waitress seemed grumpy and started getting stressed out when people didn’t immediately confirm what they were eating. When it came to paying, again staff appeared stressed out about it almost like we were going to leave without paying. One of my party overheard staff talking, when one staff member asked who had organised the meal, a male bar staff member said “some tw*t upstairs called Anthony.” Not great. As a party we spent well over £500 but we all felt like we were a bit of a pain really. We still had fun but were all a bit disappointed…

We keep passing this pub on our trips to Exmouth and decided this time to venture in. The gentleman behind the bar was very friendly and informative, and the atmosphere was lovely and cosy. We popped outside to watch the rugby on the big screen in the garden, on a table right in front of the screen, another gentleman was already out there, and around 9.20, in the early minutes of the second half a women came outside and turned the telly off without saying a word to any of us, and walked back inside. This was extremely rude as she knew we were there and was so needless and disappointing on an otherwise lovely pub.
