A really nice warm welcome on arrival. The seating out front is very inviting, with a canopy providing cover, lights on each table creating a cozy atmosphere, and a grand olive tree as a stunning centerpiece. We chose to sit in the new barn, which had a lovely atmosphere. The service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. We ordered from the spring à la carte menu, selecting the chicken thigh burger with chipotle mayo and the poke bowl with sticky chicken. Both dishes were well presented and flavorful, though they were really just classic pub fare. Nevertheless, everything was enjoyable, and the setting made for a delightful experience overall.

Absolutely superb experience. It's the most welcoming pub we've been to. Every member of staff we spoke to were friendly and professional and extremely accomodating. The atomosphere was lovely. The food was exceptional. We had the lamb and the hake which were both beautifully presented and very tasty. The desserts were also brilliant. Highly recommended. We don't leave many reviews but felt the whole team needed a mention. They clearly put a lot of hard work and effort into making it a great place to visit.

I met some friends for lunch at the Griffin Inn this weekend. The courtyard area was really busy with the first real sunny day of the year. The courtyard seating area is gorgeous with a covered area with heaters and comfortable chairs with rugs. I was met by a lovely young lady with blue hair and a smile, she directed me to Sam who showed us to our table in the restaurant. Fantastic view from our table, the grounds and gardens are beautiful with fields just beyond. Coral and JJ were a our servers and they were just lovely, both were very engaging and had a good amount of knowledge of the menu and were very accommodating of one of our party. The food was delicious and we even had desserts. We will definitely be booking for our next meet up. Thank you to The Griffin Inn and we'll see you again soon.

Good and service excellent. Waitress could have sold ice to the Eskimos lol. Only issues were it was very noisy (four people, round table, near the bar). We could hardly hear our conversations. Other issue parking because the overflow Carpark was closed and we had to park along way away.

The design and atmosphere is amazing, there is a very well designed restaurant area that has a fire in the middle and feels really modern, a bar restaurant area as well as the pub section. Also, the outside seating area is great for the summer with comfy sofas and tables to sit and eat or drink at. This was my first visit to The Griffin Inn. I went there with other family members as a party of eight on a Sunday lunchtime, so it was quite busy. Our server was very attentive, patient, and helpful. The food was amazing. It was piping hot and tasted so nice. There were vegan options for my sister, who also enjoyed her meal. The atmosphere and vibe of the place were really good. Whilst we were eating our meals, a waitress came round with additional roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. It is difficult to fault anything about the experience. We left there feeling very satisfied with our visit, and shall definitely go back there again.

We booked here for Sunday lunch for our family for my husband and daughter’s birthdays. Fabulous meal, special, tasty, home cooked. Staff friendly and attentive. Cosy atmosphere with log burner. Children well catered for. I’m vegan and good choices for me. They came round during our meal offering extra roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding! Never known that before in a restaurant. Not the cheapest and my glass of wine was £9! However, perfect for a special occasion and I could not fault any part of the meal. All was delicious. I signed up for emails as expected to receive a free bottle of Birthday Prosecco, but sadly this didn’t happen. However, would 100% recommend The Griffin.

This is a lovely pub with amazing decor and pleasant, helpful staff. However, we were disturbed to see how frequently the main bar server used her fingers to handle ice and lemon, and generally prepare the drinks. At one point she collected ice she had accidentally dropped onto the bar surface and swept it into the cocktail she was preparing. It is not a great look and raises questions about hygiene and training. I am sure they can do better

They were slightly late, but there was no rushing us to the table, which was nice We skipped starters and chose burgers, steak and ale pie and fish & chips All food was to a high quality and served by friendly team members A lovely evening all in all A great eatery in the Northern region of Leicestershire

The pub itself is large and spacious, with lovely decor a nice refurb. Menu choice is good and looks impressive. Staff were attentive and very polite. Food was good but not great considering the price point, Mid end restaurant pricing for what is basically posh pub food. A £20 Sharing platter was a few slices of meat, 5? Small ( 5 divided by 2??) croutons a pot of nice tapenade and a few small toms on a small platter. In essence this was a single serving, most definitely NOT a 2 person sharing. Appreciate costs are having a big impact on hospitality and making a profit but if you are going to charge make sure the final product matches that price? Such a shame as we went on such good recommendations.

Visited for lunch today as a family of 6 for my Sons 40th Birthday. As both my sons are Chefs it is very rare we get out all together as a family, so this was special to us all. The transformation of The Griffin is wonderful, so light, airy and tastefully done, but still keeping some of its old charm. The team of staff were all so polite, efficient and welcoming. The communication after booking was faultless, we were regularly updated on local road closures and alternative routes. We all ordered something different and not one of us were disappointed. Sea Bass, Sausage Ragu, House Burger, Beef pie, Garlic Griddled chicken were the dishes we ordered, followed by Biscotti cheesecake, chocolate and orange torte, Tart tatin, Irish coffee, the food tasted superb, well presented, noticeably fresh ingredients and delivered to us hot. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and made our celebration incredibly special. We can't wait to return and would highly recommend this beautiful pub and its restaurant to anyone who appreciates, Good food at a fair price. Thank you to you all. Amanda & family

Last minute decision to go out as a family Had a tidy meal just what we ordered. The only things we would say is that the quality of the meat was let down by the poor wine. Went for the Malbec. Great that trying to sell a sustainable product but it was not served well it was chilled and it was not a significant taste for the price at £35 per bottle I would expect a DOC wine to prove sustainability and authenticity of where the wine is sourced. And for £35 I would definitely except a wine that taste better. Kids meals were poor. Burnt small burger and cold chips. Was eaten out of hunger rather than taste They also need to sort out the lighting

Dined here recently with family. One person behind the not particularly busy bar making coffees. No welcome. My wife had to track down someone else to serve us drinks before we took our table, as we wanted a drink in the bar first. My starter of beetroot and mackerel look and tasted good, could have done with some toast or a cracker and at £9.50 seemed expensive. My fish and chips were awful, both were barely luke warm and the fish very greasy (I assumed the oil wasn’t hot enough) despite someone else paying I had to send it back, if it was just warm I would have eaten it. Ben, who served us was very helpful. The Malbec I had wasn’t good enough for £35. I don’t know where to suggest as an alternative nearby but I would make the effort to go to the Hammer and Pincers at Wymeswold.

Went on the Saturday evening just before Christmas for my daughter’s birthday. FYI if you sign up to their newsletter you get a free bottle of Prosecco on your birthday, result! They also confirmed we could bring in our own birthday cake without any extra charge to us, which was great. The Griffin Inn is beautiful, the decor is spot on and there was a lovely cosy buzz about the place. Owing to the time of year it was very busy, that said the waiting staff were attentive, happy and polite. We got there early and had a drink at the bar, cocktails were spot on, and they do a good draft Madri. They even topped up my coke at not extra charge. We sat at a round table, which I prefer, near the bar. Everything so far was lovely. Unfortunately what let things down was the food, which was not as good as it could or should have been, especially at the price point. I had fish and chips, but they were not very flavoursome, and a little dry. Other members of my family (of 6), felt their choices were also pretty underwhelming. No one choice was great. The venue is outstanding, but our expectations weren’t met food wise at all, had a nice time though.

Nice touch coming round to offer a second yorkies and potatoes. Just not sure the value for money is there. I told her this is not acceptable as we booked for a wedding and its in 11 days her answer to me was that she is not calling to argue with me but just to let me know that they are cancelling and that they were trying to call me many times-not true. I had a message on 21st Oct from them on booking dot com, which I didn't see (i already had an email confirmation so wasn't checking, that the booking was confirmed) stating that they having some essential maintenance not that they over overbooked. The Griffin Inn is a little gem in the most beautiful village. We went for Sunday lunch and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Firstly, the staff, although very young, were very welcoming, friendly and professional. Now the food - this was one of the best Sunday lunches I have ever had. The food was hot, very tasty and they came round with extra roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. Extra gravy was brought out with the meal too. We all had roast beef which was cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the roasted peach Eton mess - again very delicious and a good portion. With a glass of wine it worked out at £42pp with a good tip, which I felt was good value for money for the quality of the food. One little criticism, please add roasted parsnips to the meal and it would be absolutely perfect!! A special mention has to go to the lovely staff. We were well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. My friend is disabled and they opened the side door onto the car park so she had easy access to the car. All the young people were very friendly and helpful and they all seemed to be really enjoying their jobs. They were well trained in being attentive but not overly so, opening a bottle of wine properly and great customer service! The ambiance is very modern in an old pub with some nice touches. The toilets were immaculate and beautifully appointed. I would definitely recommend this venue and look forward to returning on my next trip to the Midlands xx

Highly recommend The Griffin for Sunday Lunch! We ate at around 5pm and wow! It was so, so good! All three courses were incredible! Portion sizes were huge, plenty of gravy too!! Essential for our family! The service was great and they really helped accommodate my 11 month old daughter for her first roast dinner! Great atmosphere and beautiful venue!

These folks know what excellent customer service is! So refreshing to deal with people who are warm and friendly. We chose from the lunch menu - everything tasted and looked delicious. Shall revisit soon.

We had a meal at this place this evening. The service was absolutely outstanding! Nothing was too much trouble. I love lots of vegetables with my meal and when I asked the waiter the size of the portion he kindly went the second mile and brought me a second portion of veg free of charge. All the staff were warm and attentive without being intrusive. We had a short local power cut while we were there and there were immediate apologies and battery lanterns bought to the table. We were updated at regular intervals to the situation with the power, even though it was no fault of the restaurant. The food was of a good standard and well presented. The log fire in the restaurant was welcoming and created a lovely ambience which was matched by the courteous staff who could not do enough for us. We ended our meal with 2 coffees, one of which was cold because the machine had not warmed up sufficiently since power cut. This was politely replaced with a steaming hot one immediately. When we drew attention to the fact that there was only one coffee on the bill, we were told that this was because the first one was cold! If you want a lesson in excellent in courteous hospitality then these guys could teach you a lesson or two! Will definitely return there again!

Went for Sunday lunch, Beef was well cooked and very tasty. Roast potatoes were not cooked enough unfortunately slightly on the under cooked side and not at all crispy. The dessert was good the crumble served to the table was tasty. Not sure why our bowls were so small compared to others around us on other tables. Seemed expensive for the size of portion given to our table. Table next to us not so much.

Beautifully refurbished and after hearing lots of positive reviews we were very excited to go for a Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and great with our young daughter - one thing I would recommend is taking your own plate if you have a little one as food is served on a normal ceramic plate which is not a good idea for a young 1 year old. The Sunday lunch was ok. Staff came around offering additional Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes which was great, but the roast potatoes were very dry and hard. I had the beef and felt I didn’t get a lot of meat on my plate which was a shame. The desserts were lovely though. If I was to return it wouldn’t be for a Sunday lunch as it’s very expensive an ok dish, maybe I’d give the normal menu a go to see if that’s any better. Edit - we returned to try the normal menu. The selection was quite small, but we all had different items. The appetisers were delicious - would highly recommend the honey chorizo to anyone! The fish and chips was nice, it was served with fries and mushy peas. The desserts again were lovely and the staff again were above and beyond.

Our first visit today. My son lives locally and suggested this for Sunday lunch. First impression was great on entering with a live music entertainer. Class venue with very well trained staff. The food was really top notch and every course was delivered quickly. Can’t recommend this place enough and shall be back on our next trip from Scotland.

So... I came, I saw, I tried, and it's a nice place to spend your free time with good coffee and a tasty set of snacks. There is a lot of space and the location is also interesting, plus there is a part by the stream where you can relax. The only downside was the portion of fish and chips I ordered, which looked really poor considering the price was over £17. I'm not a big fan of this dish, but I order it from time to time and it didn't work out here. Apart from that everything was ok.

Food was absolutely amazing, service was superb and enjoyable surroundings, the establishment is very pricey and the only other downside was we booked a table but still had to sit outside for 30minutes until it was ready. Overall it is a lovely place, great staff but expensive for the everyday person.

Didn't stay over but we had a meal, one staff member was so lovely but we were out of the way due to a mishap with the tables that should have been rectified on our arrival but wasn't. For the rest of the evening we were more or less forgotten about, except by the earlier mentioned staff member. Other staff were rude and preoccupied. I had the shwarma and enjoyed it. Good sized portions. My partner had the burger and didn't like the patty at all.

We have been a few times to The Curzon and it never disappoints! The atmosphere was lovely as were all the staff and the food was perfect too. By far the best pie and mash I’ve had and will definitely be returning.

Can’t comment on the food but the bar staff tend to just look at me gone out when I walk in and make me feel unwelcome, happened a few times now but unfortunately typical young people’s customer service these days. Doubt I will enter the pub again even though the drinks are pretty good but awful customer service to say I’m always polite and have never caused any trouble in there.
