An excellent find! Well known in the area but slightly tucked away. This well-run pub has recently been tastefully renovated. The food and beer choices are top-notch and the little garden is a delight in the summer. Staff may be too busy to chat at times but the ambiance is very welcoming.

I visited on Saturday evening with some friends and was served by Ellise & Mary, a couple of my friends had the fish (whale) and chips and I had the pie, it did not disappoint I asked if the chips were homemade and Ellise said that Jamie had made them that day . It was lovely to see the fire lit and live music

Me and my family are very particular about our Sunday Lunches. After being told the Curzon was a good place to eat we did attend. The food was absolutely lovely, I had pork belly roast, my husband had lovely rare beef roast, the burger my daughter had wow! Tasty. Plus a child's Chicken Sunday roast. There's a lot to be said about a good Roast. You nailed it!!! Many thanks to the chef Jamie (he must work very hard) plus the floor staff were very attentive. All drinks were served perfectly. Ellise, Meg and Ed you were all amazing. Thank you all for a great afternoon of food and drinks .

What a fabulous pub! The refurbishment is really tasteful and in keeping with the atmosphere of a local, the wood burner outside is a lovely feature. The food and service was excellent. Very disappointed! Have eaten here many times over the years and always had fabulous food but our visit on 16/08 was way off the mark. We sat in the garden as we had our dog with us. My partner ordered fish and chips but they had no chunky chips so he had to have fries. Not a deal breaker in itself but it was served with mushy peas and if he got a teaspoon full that was it! I ordered a chicken BLT sandwich but it was virtually all bread and hardly any filling. We usually have coffee too but we’re so disappointed with the food we just left. We were aware that they are closing for refurbishment from 19/08 but honestly you need to up your game when you reopen otherwise we won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Have been a couple of years ago for a Christmas meal and the food was fabulous. Last night fell way below par. Both ordered fish pie - the mash was barely warm, fish tough and full of whole peppercorns, even the greens were bitter and undercooked. The lady serving tutted and said she’d already spoken to the chef about that. A bit disappointing really.

I can't recommend The Curzon highly enough! This local gem consistently delivers generous portions of delicious food, paired with outstanding service. The presentation of each dish is always top notch, making the dining experience feel special every time. Hats off to their chefs, who always cater to my pickiness and dietary requirements to the best of their ability. Every time they bring out a new menu the standard increases and the prices are great value for the quality and portion sizes! From managers to front of house, the team is one that is dedicated to making your experience what it should be, whether it’s a special occasion, request or simply a casual meal they will go the extra mile with a smile on their faces! Every Tuesday, I look forward to their quiz night. The entry fee for the quiz of just £1pp includes a dish that never disappoints—always spot on for some brain fuel and amazing value for money! The staff's knowledge of drinks is impressive, and their recommendations are always top-notch. Whether you're looking for a new favorite beer or something different as a change, they've got you covered. If you're in the area, The Curzon Arms is a must-visit!

Beautiful local pub in the heart of a gorgeous little village. Maybe it was the sun making me bias but the outside seating area is perfect. Shade, grass, sun, benches, tables, anything you’d want for a lovely afternoon. When we moved in for the food, it was cool and had a nice buzz. They opened a tab straight away whilst we waited for others which was rather helpful, and the service remained friendly, chatty, and as good as it could be really. Despite a large amount of items missing from the menu, everything for the most part was great! The crab starter had nice flavour and texture, but the bream and steak were knockout main courses. Maybe avoid the crab linguine though as it did let the side down a little. Dessert were equally as nice, sorbets being excellent and the panna cotta very tart and yummy! All in all this place is delicious and no doubt we’ll be back - definitely for a drink in the sun as a bare minimum!

Well! having enjoyed the Curzon on many occasions we were really disappointed. The menu wasn't to my taste very appealing so the dish I choose admittedly wasn't a favorite. Steak Pie, veg and 'chips'. The pie was fine though certainly more gravy than meat, the size was sufficient for me but for a healthy appetite would not pass muster. The main complaint was the 'chips' hence the inverted commas, which were wedges that were anemic looking and so under cooked they were inedible. A second batch was substituted and were little better so fries were finally brought but too late and even these were anemic looking though passable. Perhaps the chef had an off day I hope so because we have eaten there many times and this last time has really put me off booking again.

We used to come before the Curzon changed hands and it was a special place to eat, I took my partner the other evening and it was shocking. On arrival the restaurant area was untidy the counter had piles of stuff on it. Several things were not available, we asked if we could have pigs in blankets to be told that they are only available at Christmas, why have them on the menu then. Some of the meal was ok, but the Yorkshire looked as though they had been hanging around all day, we had to get up and ask for salt and pepper, mustard and water. If you don't want to serve people on an early Sunday evening then close at 4 after lunch. We have warned all our dining friends.

I’ve been a big fan of Curzon Arms before now and yesterday it was my recommendation to go here to a group of people that have never been before other than 1. I was left embarrassed that they only had a limited Sunday menu where before when I’ve been they’ve had the Sunday menu and main menu. This left two people with eating disorders with very little to choose from. The staff didn’t seem very accommodating and the lack of menu choices and then a lot of things being unavailable has left a bad taste in my mouth and many of the people I introduced probably will never visit again.

8 of us went for Christmas Day lunch and were very excited. 1st impression of the table and room was a bit disappointing as it didn't feel very festive. There was no decoration or table centrepiece and no crackers on the table. Starters were delicious, but the main course came plated with 2 slices of turkey wrapped around stuffing, 2 roast pots, 2 slices of roast carrot, and a little other veg. I asked if they were bringing out more veg, but they said it was plated up and there would not be any extra veg. No brussel sprouts either!. Desserts were delicious, but then we waited more than 30 minutes and eventually asked for the plates to be taken away so we could have the cheese and biscuits. After we had finished we waited another half an hour and again had to ask for them to take our plates, as included in the price was tea/coffee and mince pies. They apologetically advised us that there was no milk or oat milk for the hot drinks, which was really disappointing. They did offer soya milk, but we said we'd leave it (and have a decent coffee at home with real milk). They boxed up our mince pies but only gave us 4, so we had to ask for the other 4 so we'd actually got 1 each. I feel that although the food was tasty, the lack of Christmas atmosphere and the service was disappointing for the £95 per adult that we paid. I feel that they probably didn't have enough staff serving. I only saw 2 in the dining room we ate in but there may have been more serving in the pub. We have eaten here quite a few times in the past and have always been really impressed with the food and service which is why we chose to book here, but we definitely won't book Christmas Day lunch here again.

First visit since being taken over by the pub chain red cat and sadly the standards have dropped massively. Not only is the menu now more like your stereo typical pub chain menu but following the food order we waited nearly an hour for our food with no communication from staff, when the food did arrive it was very poor, all the meals had issues from a pie that had clearly been sitting under a heater for 30 mins meaning the pastry was overcooked and tough to potatoes that were unbelievably salty, almost inedible. The somewhat saving grace, following speaking to the manager the food was removed from the bill. Probably won’t return, sad given how great the food was pre takeover.

It's difficult to pick up a consistent thread/theme in the previous reviews, a very "mixed bag" - We went onSaturday night as x2 couples and had a very nice meal. I would say that the prices were competitive, service was good despite it being a Saturday night with a few large parties in? The quality of the food was excellent. There was a live singer/guitarist, who added to the atmosphere with a good standard of acoustic covers. I have to say that I'm surprised by the relatively frequent poor reviews, interspersed between some excellent ones? Would make me wonder if one [or two] particular servers need some help with their performance. The young man who served our table got it about right? Efficient without rushing, polite yet not obsequious? Bottom line - I'd go again, and would recommend it

Nice cosy little pub with a decent atmosphere. Dog friendly and ok for small kids. Food took ages to arrive and wasn't worth the wait. Asked for my steak to be medium rare but it came nearly medium well. Batter on the fish and onion rings wasnt great. Either fried too long or in oil that was old/too hot but the result was a very solid coating.

The following review is taken from my email to the Curzon’s General Manager which was sent over 24 hours ago and who has chosen not to respond. Dear Sirs Your email requested feedback from our visit on Sunday evening. On arrival we were shown to a table which had a clump of dirty napkins left under it by the previous customers. Not a good start. We were informed that there were no pigs in blankets. The menu is limited to start with before losing items from it. Two further items were also unavailable. I had the king prawn starter. For the avoidance of any doubt they were not king prawns that were served. Although for £11 I was expecting king prawns. Three of our party had the roast main courses. Two were pork. These looked anaemic and there was only one piece of pork. No crackling as promised. Leeks non existent. Lukewarm and totally underwhelming. Poor quality and very expensive for what was served. One of the party had crumble for dessert and was then told you had run out of custard. Having read other trip advisor reviews this morning I note this is a common problem and not the first time. Do you not employ chefs capable of making custard or is everything out of a can and straight into the microwave? He was offered vanilla ice cream as a substitute and then told there was no vanilla ice cream. He was then given salted caramel ice cream with his fruit crumble. What a shambles. We were the only customers in your lounge bar area. Staff could be heard chatting and laughing in the kitchen but were not on duty in the restaurant when needed. Felt like we were your last customers of the day and the food and service reflected this. The meal was to celebrate my mother’s 93rd birthday on Sunday. We have been customers of yours for over 40 years, but this is my first visit since Covid and Redcat taking over. When we left there were more staff than customers in the establishment with no obvious senior person in charge? Massively disappointed by the decline in food quality and service. Having read reviews now on the Windmill and Crown it seems to be a theme with your sister pubs. As requested I will post a review on Tripadvisor but note that nobody from Redcat ever responds to them or appears to be bothered by negative reviews. Do you think the food and service received were acceptable?

Came for dinner with my parents after seeing the advertised live music and fireworks on Facebook. We decided to get down a little earlier and try out the food as my mum is vegetarian and they had an interesting selection to choose from. We were greeted by a lovely lady behind the bar and shown to our table. Drinks orders were taken and arrived promptly and they had a good selection of real ales on! My mum and me shared the baked camembert to start and my dad had the harissa flatbread. Both were beautifully presented and I was surprised to receive a whole large camembert! Normally a sharing camembert for starter is only a small thing so with me and my mum being cheese lovers we were very happy to be served a full sized large one instead. It was beautifully baked as well - sprigs of herbs and garlic bulbs had been baked with it - so yummy. For mains we had fish and chips, tomato gnocchi and the ham and eggs. The fish was huge! The chips were chunky too and cooked just right. The ham could have been a bit bigger but my dad said he wasn't left hungry when he'd finished so said he was probably just being greedy as it was so lovely. The gnocchi portion was also large and was cooked perfectly. All in all the food was lovely, hot and served in a timely fashion. It wasn't cheap but it was worth the money. Whilst we eat there was an acoustic act playing which added a really nice ambience to the pub. The fire was on and the whole place was lovely and warm - just what we needed on a night that seemed destined to not stop raining!! The fireworks started just past the advertised time and were amazing! Just as good if not better than any paid for display I've been to before and they were free! Lots of people there enjoying them despite the rain and I'm really glad we went down. The live music continued with a more upbeat duo afterwards and there was a generally cheery atmosphere in the pub so we stayed and had a couple more drinks before heading back. All in all a really lovely evening and will definitely be returning!

Visited as a group of four tonight and we were looking forward to the advertised offer in the local magazine of three courses for £20. We were told upon arrival that this was not available and a member of staff didn't know anything about it. We then had to order from the main menu. There was then confusion by the staff over the food brought to us. The food was very underwhelming and unappetising and only just warm. Most of the chips had black bits in them too. I then ordered the crumble and custard to be told that they had no custard!!! Obviously the chef didn't know how to make it! Felt rushed by a second waitress as she brought us the bill which we hadn't asked for yet and this was only at 9.20pm! Very unfriendly and unprofessional staff. Hence, will avoid in future.

Good food, friendly staff and well kept beer. As a bonus there was a really good firework display which everyone enjoyed despite the wet weather.

We popped in for a drink and the whole atmosphere of the pub was so friendly and welcoming, the staff were great! The manger was very knowledgably about the beers and the Taylor's we had was beautifully kept! The fire was on too and it just made the Curzon a very welcoming and warm place we will definitely be returning soon!

Stopped by with my little one for a couple of drinks after a nice day out. The pub was warm not only because the fire was burning but the atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming and patient listening to my little one ramble on about our day. The music level was just right to be able to have a chat with the little one while also being able to enjoy it.

Went here for Sunday lunch on Sunday 15 October with family. Had roast beef meal at £21 per plate. First thing I noticed was all four lunches came with what appeared to be frozen Yorkshire puddings and tasted as such. Beef portion was small and roast potatoes tasted like they'd been re-heated and theres was also no mashed potato. Husband had Trio of Meats lunch and got only one v small slice each of beef, chicken and belly Pork for £24! Deserts however v nice as should be for £7.50 each. All in all very poor for the price charged and had much better elsewhere. Would not recommend unfortunately.

Sunday Lunch - Mediocre at Best - price £21 for Sirloin Beef Meal Was recommended to go to this pub by a friend. Unfortunately, it wasn't as expected for the £21 I paid for this plate. The beef okish, no mashed potato, overcooked hard roast potatoes and what appeared to me, to be a frozen Yorkshire pudding (all four of ours looked exactly the same size and you can tell anyway) . My husband had the trio of meats at £24 but got one very small slice of each meat! The dessert was excellent, however, but we would not visit this pub again as far too expensive for what was served up. Had a lot better elsewhere.

We came here for lunch mid-week, as a group of 15 colleagues. The food was delicious, the place itself was very clean, and the attentiveness of the staff was second to none! We had been on a walk around Beacon Hill, and had some four legged friends with us. We loved the fact staff had put a dog water bowl at the side of our table, and a little bowl on dog treats on the table too!

The restaurant side was cozy and we received really good service despite turning up really early into evening service. I had the Brisket burger. It was Juicy and plenty of flavour, and the bun didn't go soggy part way through. Really happy.

Good food, excellent service. The kitchen and serving staff took good care of one of our party who is coeliac and hence strictly gluten free.

Popped into the Curzon arms at Woodhouse Eaves after morning at beacon hill, first time eating there, was greeted by friendly member of staff and shown to are table, seemed rather busy but was sunday, order 2 beef 1 chicken and 1 trio meat lunches, all arrived beautifully presented with all the trimmings, all meals excellent and large enough to not require desserts. Will book again when in the area.

Not much choice of a bitter (ale) to drink - only 2 and one was a stout. My first two choices of food were unavailable. The chicken burger was tasty but the chicken bit itself was too large for me. Seemed to take quite a while to prepare the food.

I booked this property months ago, just to have a rude lady calling today to say that they need to cancel because its been overbooked and the other party booked 3 rooms so they have to cancel my booking. I told her this is not acceptable as we booked for a wedding and its in 11 days her answer to me was that she is not calling to argue with me but just to let me know that they are cancelling and that they were trying to call me many times-not true. I had a message on 21st Oct from them on booking dot com, which I didn't see (i already had an email confirmation so wasn't checking, that the booking was confirmed) stating that they having some essential maintenance not that they over overbooked. So with 11 days to the wedding we are left without accommodation. I would avoid booking this place so you don't have to panic on a last minute like me now.
