Went for darts was very quiet for a Thursday night

Went here for a drink. Really nice outdoors area, friendly staff.

Ordered a breakfast on uber eats I have never tasted such disgusting food the bacon basically raw the hash browns dripping in oil eggs over cooked the sausage tasted horrible this is the worst breakfast I have tasted and it was 14£ would advise nobody to use this place for food

This has to be the worst pub I’ve ever been in. Staff are rude and arrogant. Literally don’t care how they speak to people. Ordered cocktails, got told to f-off as too busy. Don’t order food unless you have a strong constitution. That’s another story but if you don’t believe me order something of the wide and varied menu. Especially the pizza. Witney is such a beautiful town there are many different places to spend money and have a nice time. I’d definitely recommend the Plough, Beekeepers or the Royal Oak. However if it’s bad service and poor food you’re after, this is the place for you.

Great pub, serves a lovely pint of Guinness

Worst roast ever. 2 x very small roast potatoes, seemed like frozen packet ones. Lumpy gravy. Roast rib of beef no taste and, pre packed slice stuff. Horse radish in mini tin container dumped on plate in gravy. Yorkshire was nice. Everything was just piled on plate. Only two staff on chef and Barman.

The Griffin offered the best fry-up breakfast I have had in Witney. Friendly service and good value. Breakfast is only served on Saturday and Sunday. Try it for a solid start to the day.

A terrible service food so slow it was eventually cancelled

My family was made really welcome and the food was excellent. We ate everything on the plate with great enjoyment! Fantastic quality - and at a great price. We’ll be back!

We went on one of The Griffin's specials nights, Tuesday is Pizza night. Delicious homemade pizzas. Staff friendly and helpful. Well worth a trip to support this local pub.

The Griffin is our local, which we have frequented for drinks and meals for quite a few years now. We have always enjoyed going to The Griffin, with it’s cosy log burner in the winter and it’s pretty garden in the summer. Jonny the landlord is always very welcoming, with his very well behaved dog Diesel. It’s brilliant that our local is such a dog friendly pub, having Two Boston Terriers ourselves, they have always been made as welcome as we are. We have missed our visits to The Griffin in this current situation, but it has been great to be able to use Jonnys takeaway service. I have recently tested positive with Covid, so when Jonny sent us a message saying they were doing takeaway Sunday roasts, my husband was delighted. Never having tried The Griffins Sunday Roast, I was little a bit apprehensive, but we decided to give it a go... OMG we were not disappointed. We paid easily on a link he sent via text, as we are not on Facebook. Jonny arrived bang on time with two hot Sunday Roasts (left at our door). My husband had beef and I had the chicken. A good amount of meat and veg, all cooked to perfection, the veg had a little bit of bite, but not practically raw, like some Sunday Roasts out (I hate that!!). A proper rich gravy, with mash, roast potatoes.. and a massive home cooked Yorkshire pud to die for!!! What can I say.. a brilliant way to enjoy Sunday at home, with added bonus of no washing up and a feeling of supporting our local pub too. Highly recommended.

O M G what can I say just had the best roast dinner ever everything fresh presentation amazing lovely warm fire will definitely be going back.

I went there today with my friend we both had a roast dinner I must admit I've had some roast dinners in my time but I can honestly say that it was the best I've ever had the presentation was excellent the staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble I would strongly recommend this pub it is well worth the visit and we will definitely be going back there.

All 8 of us and a child in a high chair sat down to the best ever Sunday Lunch. The service was excellent and also the food. We either had beef or chicken or lamb,all cooked.to.perfection with lots of vegetables. The desserts were good too. A fantastic way to spend a Family lunch. The drinks kept flowing . The fire was lit just incase any.if us were cold. The high chair supplied was lovely and clean and fresh. Thanks to the staff and the chef.

Only played pool and aunt Sally at this place. Always nice if slightly expensive. Can't give 5 stars as not eaten there.

We stopped here on our way to The Cotswolds based upon previous Trip Advisor reviews and we were glad we did. The staff were helpful and chatty and the regulars were friendly, and one had an adorable puppy :). They had a good selection of drinks and the beer and cider were clean and crisp. The food was excellent, all four plates were emptied. I would highly recommend this pub.

Landlord friendly but drinks are way too over priced

The food is amazing!! I would eat here everyday and will be able to enjoy a pint or 3 in the nicely landscaped garden out the back when the sun comes back out! Friendly welcoming place with a great landlord (john). We will be going back for a meal soon from us @ Elliots Garden Services

The Griffin is a local Cotswold pub close to the town centre of Witney 166 Newlands Witney Oxfordshire OX28 3JH They serve a selection of beers and wines and good gins and tonic. We use the pub regularly for a pop in drink, visit with friends and for pub food and Sunday lunch. I fully recommend the food, especially the pizzas and the Sunday roast. The pizzas are excellent and good value for money. Why would you go to a chain when these great pizzas are available. One reason would be availability because of opening times but it is a pub/restaurant so opening is restricted. We need to support are local pubs or lose them.

Fantastic local pub. Good choice of alcohol and food

This a proper pub. It’s been refurbished to a high standard. It serves a good pint. Always a good sign that the landlord keeps his pipes clean. The Sunday lunch is scrumptious all freshly cooked with fresh vegetables. We’ve also tried the homemade pizza-yummy. The landlord is friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is relaxed. It’s child and dog friendly and has an enclosed garden. Go you won’t be disappointed. Oh and for those that like sport it’s also available.

Lovely pub in Witney, refurbished beautifully. The pub caters to all, pool table, Large TV for sports and a safe enclosed beer garden. My friends enjoyed really enjoyed our piping hot food, we each had a different dish and we all commented on how tasty it was. Keep up the good work guys.

Good beer selection, lovely beer garden, great staff

The pub has just had a refurbished (which was long over due) and the result is impressive. It feels modern, fresh and welcoming. The owners and staff are quiet, yet attentive and warm. There are a few regulars who prop up the bar that help give the pub warmth. The food offering is simple, yet hearty (Gordon Ramsey would be proud) and good value for money. It's great to see a small local pub that once struggled, too do so well. Would thoroughly recommend.
