Cracking pub. Great selection of beers, great staff and a very cosy pub with a nice traditional fire. I believe they are closing in January for a refurb, can’t wait to see what’s install and return

Portions sizes were pretty poor for how much we payed. There was no cauliflower cheese. So we were offered a half pint. But the Portions were so small the free half pint didn't make up for it.

Since the change of ownership this lovely old style Oxford pub is surprisingly on a race to the bottom, it’s not to late to save it ! Start by Listening to your customers would help

The worst place in Oxford. Despite having a reservation, we were turned away and told to just sit in any place until someone else turns up with a reservation (???) the staff is so rude. I came here to celebrate a big day - but their behavior was so rude it was hurtful. They need to do better, at least have some manners in how to talk to someone.

Nuestro grupo de cinco personas pasó por el puente después de un recorrido a pie por la Universidad y fueron recibidos con un personal acogedor y un ambiente acogedor, con espacios acogedores tanto por dentro como por fuera. Este fue el segundo día de cinco días en el Reino Unido, y a medida que probamos más pubs, el consenso entre nosotros fue que este fue el mejor de nuestro viaje.

Ok, la comida, pero sosa, llegó bastante rápido, sin embargo, las mesas eran pegajosas, los baños eran muy malolientes y sucios. La comida aquí es terrible lo peor que creo que hemos tenido en un pub. No hay habilidades culinarias aquí si es que tienen alguna. El puré es duro con si acaso mantequilla en él media zanahoria cortada longitudinalmente y dura como una roca Extremadamente básico aunque el costo es alto. Toma una copa allí pero no te molestes con la comida

The Sunday roast was really bad I’m afraid to say. It’s been on my mind all day as to how bland and dad it was. Frozen food coked at its worst. Very unhappy 😫

Never been before although go into Oxford regularly. A gem, good food, atmosphere & great welcoming staff. Definitely will be back.

One of the nicest pubs in oxford! The owner is lovely and the place has such a comfortable vibe to it. They also run a pub quiz once a week which is fun to go to.

A huge place! We were on a Monday night and ale was only £3.50 then The bartender gave us a taste of the beers before we chose. The food is delicious - one of the best pub experiences we've had in Oxford

What shame. The Angel has changed hands Although the staff are still lovely and, untill they pull it all out, it is comfy and attractive. However the delicious Sunday lunch has disappeared. The food used to be fresh, interesting and hand prepared. It now seems to be out of tins and pre-prepared and frozen somewhere hundreds of miles away. That would be fine if it wasn't so expensive!! Very sadly, I would find it very difficult to recommend a visit now

Un pub con un ambiente relajado con personal que está tan dispuesto y capaz de ayudar. Nada era demasiado problema para ellos y eran muy amables, amables y profesionales. Tuvimos un almuerzo dominical para 20 personas de todas las edades, gustos y necesidades. Todos fueron acomodados sin ningún tipo de alboroto o molestia. Pudimos disfrutar de nuestro día en un espacio privado que nos permitió movernos y conocer a la familia. Pre-órdenes funcionó un placer. -Muchas gracias.

Took a group of elderly people for lunch. We were made very welcome and served very well. The food was tasty and hot and reasonably priced. Only problem was that there is no accessible toilet on the premises but arrangements has been made with cafe a few doors away.

Booked the Angel and Greyhound for a private event and the staff could not have been more helpful. Nick was so accomodating with the food and drink, really excellent communication and follow-ups. I cannot recommend booking this place if you want a friendly, easy and tasty garden party.

Very pricey £6.70p for a pint of larger.

Stopped here for a quick lunch with the family. Amazing dog friendly environment, great service and very tasty food. Our dogs even got some complimentary beef which they enjoyed. Definitely will be back.

Make sure you reserve a table a week in advance even if you are just going by yourself on Thursdays evenings. Often all the tables are reserved and you cannot find a place to sit.

A party of 4 visited for Sunday lunch. Had been before and were happy with the food so thought we'd come again. However, we were very disappointed with the pork which was extremely fatty and what the meat was tough, the duck was not the best. Also, the greens were very undercooked. Sorry to say we won't be visiting again.

The chicken, gammon and leek pie was one of the best I’ve had. Vegetables were not overcooked and crunchy. Phoebe’s service was friendly and on point. Even better than the 5 star restaurant we went to yesterday!

Im confused with all the good reviews in reference with food or they have changed the chef! Dont recommend the Sunday Roast at all the chef needs to discover at least salt and pepper and understand how to make gravy correctly very poor I won’t mention the bland beef and roast potato’s was more like a hospital dinner. It would have been better to pour water on the Sunday roast than use the gravy would maybe have had more flavour then. The staff on the front was great and the place was relaxing recommend getting a better chef

We're so grateful to the amazing team here for our brilliant meal and very friendly, prompt service. Our party of six and 12 suitcases were happily accommodated with smiles and a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday roast and sticky toffee puddings. Nick and his team did a great job in providing a fab party environment, food and drink for our daughter’s 21st. Really helpful and relaxed staff, delicious party nibbles and the covered garden patio was the ideal space for a party of 25. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely lunch with child and dog here yesterday. Friendly and efficient service, a roaring fire and a good pub lunch. Would recommend to families who want a relaxed meal in an easygoing environment, although a separate children’s menu would make it perfect. As it was, we ordered our child some of the small plates, which she was very happy with. Dog snacks were available, which was a nice touch, and staff were happy to provide a water bowl.

Lovely atmosphere and right for the birthday lunch we had organised. Service was great, and food was hot when it came out to us. Williams definitely come again when visiting daughter at uni next.

The Sunday Roast was just right. We both had the beef. My wife and I are North Americans and old enough to remember the American and Canadian versions of Sunday roast (generally like the English, only without Yorkshire pudding). Lunch at the Angel & Greyhound brought back lovely memories.

Had a wonderful experience. Friendly staff, good food. I left my handbag there and within minutes Nick had phoned to let me know. Thank you for such honesty. Parking can be a bit tricky , but we'll worth it.

Nick was an absolute star. Standing outside in the rain, Nick invited us in and made us feel at home. The food was great and the beer tasty. Clean lines make all the difference. Great experience.

Was intending to go elsewhere but parked next to this pub, decided to check it out. I was very surprised to receive excellent food and service. Their food was amazingly in great taste and freshly made. The waiter was friendly and kind. We really enjoyed our time at angel and greyhound, and will want to visit oxford again.

Celebrated my partners birthday here for Sunday lunch. Can't praise it enough. Food was excellent especially lamb roast. Nick and his staff helpful and friendly. All in all a brilliant time. Recommend to all.

Great pub but only thing that lets it down is the mountain of steep stairs you have to climb to get to the loo. Sounds trivial but after two trips it’s a pain in the buttocks. I have found myself and friends saying ‘Shall we pop into The Angel & Greyhound? No I can’t face those humongous stairs’. Fantastic staff and good atmosphere but a short stop rather than a place to spend a whole evening.

We are regular Sunday lunchers and this week was as good as ever with friendly efficient service, delicious food and this week the manager/owner would not take any payment for my dessert. Recommend booking as this pub lunchtime can be very busy with many customers enjoying the delicious food, great ales and faultless service. Highly recommended.

Amazing pub, with a cozy atmosphere, Dog friendly! The food is also delicious. The staff are very friendly and its not too busy waiting times for drinks or food. There is Live sport / amazing beer garden which i have visited in the summer months and enjoyed.

Very nice and cozy pub with lovely food. Loved the Sunday roast, we opted for a beef one and a pork one and both were really good portions and delicious. Good selection of food and beers. Service was great, Jason was very nice and helpful. Will happily come again next time we are in Oxford.

One of my favourite pubs in Oxford, I'm a frequent customer - welcoming and warm atmosphere - great service - great food.

A lovely evening at this great central Oxford pub, which is traditional yet not boring. A relaxed yet thoughtful menu, with super attentive, friendly & welcoming staff, Jason Scott took great care of us. Highly recommend sitting by the fire, with a mulled wine & sticky toffee pudding.

The food was excellent,staff were very busy still the food came out quickly didn't have to wait long and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us were so kind and helpful definitely be comming back again best Sunday Roast ever

Went here for a roast dinner yesterday and almost cried at the price but thought must be worth it. Pub didn't open until 12 as they were running behind? When it came to the roast dinner, it looked delicious. Until I poured what you call a sorry excuse of gravy. I was horrified. It was flavourless. It wasn't worth £19.

Vegan roast wellington was a shapeless slop with nothing identifiable in it. Carrots raw. Worst Sunday Roast ever. Staff friendly and efficient. Room nicely decorated for Christmas and set out but cold.

A brilliant pub, all year round. Cosy indoors in winter (especially if you can grab a fireside seat) and there's a very pleasant outdoor seating area for warmer weather. Drinks are reasonably priced, as is the delicious food. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Ten out of ten!

I really wanted to like this place, great location etc but the Sunday roast was just terrible. I’m not generally that fussy but half cooked vegetables and completely bland roasties. Nothing had any flavour at all.. maybe a new or inexperienced cook??

Absolutely the nicest meal out we’ve experienced in ages! Came to Oxford to visit daughter & take her for dinner. Conveniently located around the corner from daughter’s university. Our favorite pub in Oxford… loved the DELICIOUS food, very courteous staff, the leather chairs by the fire, the cheerful customers and …. the beautiful adorable dogs, Cody and Scooter! It was the totally pleasant, relaxing experience and we will be back before we leave to go home.

Family of 5. £200. Visited Angel before, but this was our first Sun lunch. We all enjoyed the food & the quality perfect. Friendly, helpful staff. Only slight disappointment was no Fish & Chips & cauliflower cheese. My wife loves fish & chips but she enjoyed the Wellington roast. Overall a great time.
