The Greyhound is a country pub, fantastic staff. Had a 2 night stay room very clean and relaxing. Breakfast was very good, we had no complaints whatsoever. Would highly recommend. The management should be very proud of all the staff.

Lovely setting, great service and food was amazing. Fresh, tasty, well presented and good options on menu. Staff couldn’t do enough for us, making sure table was clear and brought drinks, checked if we needed anything, very attentive. Clean, tables set well, nice decor. Genuinely good food and good service. Might not be the biggest place but really a hidden gem . Not had a such a good meal out in a long time. Really trumps some of the other local places. Good atmosphere. Not over priced. Definitely recommend.

Great pub with excellent guest information booklet and staff who go out of their way to help. Breakfast is a lovely spread of continental food (pastries, cheese, ham etc.) together with different cooked choices. If you can eat all this the follow up is toast with home made jams. Rooms are a bit warm but well laid out with a good ensuite shower room. The only downside is the lack of phone network but to be honest if you are staying here for R&R this shouldn't be an issue as the WiFi connection is very good. Highly recommended.

We stayed in The Greyhound Inn for our overnight stay during multiday hike of The Ridgeway National trail. The inn is comfortably located about 2km from The Ridgeway which made it ideally located for us (be prepared for steep climb back to The Ridgeway). The inn itself is really charming building with pub restaurant section on the ground floor and multiple accommodation rooms upstairs. We heard no noise from restaurant part. Room, dinner, breakfast and service were all amazing. As bonus it is very hikers friendly inn. If needed they are able to provide a lot of info about walks around. One can even pre-order cold packed lunch for hike. I would definitely stay in this place again if on holiday nearby again.

Had the most delicious Sunday Lunch at The Greyhound yesterday. A choice of Beef, Pork or Lamb and between us we had all of them! The meat was lovely and tender and beef served rare. Lovely selection of vegetables, crispy roasties and plenty of gravy (we even had extra!) followed by a couple of delicious desserts that we managed to squeeze in. Even though the pub is small (but beautiful) and with covid restrictions in place it all felt very clean and safe and the staff are great. A lovely couple of hours spent on a Sunday afternoon and we went home happy and (very) full. Would definitely recommend.

My visit to the Greyhound in Botcheston was my first dining experience since lockdown and what a great night it turned out to be . The pub is clearly abiding to the Covid19 rules but working hard to keep a relaxed atmosphere. The menu choices are vast and plentiful - something to suit all tastes whether that be pub classics to stonebaked pizza from the new oven, or Tapas to share - we had a good mixture and can firmly say it all tasted delicious . The monkfish Thai green curry was out of this world! Homemade naan bread to boot. A great choice of wines and the pomegranate gin is definitely one to tingle the taste buds. If you have a small group who want their own space - the beach hut outside is a delight , very pretty and benefits from outdoor heaters. Albeit we didn’t book this , it has been very popular. Lovely service was the cherry on the cake....A fab time was had by all and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Well we have visited a few times since it changed hands and had various experiences from OK to fantastic which has included food served cold! Imagine my disappointment tonight to find the menu changed again so no lasagne for me tonight and thats after having to fight off the hundreds of wasps in the garden. So I decided to have the pub curry which was fantastic last time I had it. Well I said pub curry it was all bowl and no curry, very little chicken, thimble full of rice a bit of pepper and gravy, and thats about it, certainly not as I remember. I asked for more rice and curry. Wasn't impressed when I was asked to pay for 2 meals. Not impressed chef! And thats after hearing you slag off a food intolerant person in the bar! So I said no I won't be paying for an extra meal and won't be paying for the one served either as it wasn't a meal. My kids ate off the kids menu and had a better portion. Very mediocre experience. Won't be back. Looks like it's gone downhill already!

Menu has been added to with more great choices and now there is a fixed price menu on a Tues and Weds evening, two courses with a drink for £14.95 - great value. As the choice was so vaired on the fixed price menu we opted for this. I had lasagne which was fabulous with lovely fresh salad and really lovely ciabatta garlic bread. It really was a great lasagne. My firend had the cajun chicken which was great also, again with chips and salad. We both had pud which again were great and a good choice. Once again, the Greyhound has new owners. They have repainted, yet it still retains its character. Four of us met up for a weekday lunch. In the old days we used to eat here a lot - sadly I don’t think we will be eating here a lot now. Not because of the cooking ( it was very good), presentation (excellent), service ( brilliant), it is because the weekday lunch menu is extremely limited so it only suits a one-off outing. They do a lunchtime special deal, two courses for £9.99 or three for £12.99. But there was so little choice, for example only two puddings ( syrup sponge or ice cream). We looked at the a la carte, but again that was very limited and sadly no weekday roasts or things like fish pie.

Our visit to the Greyhound Inn, Botcheston on Good Friday was a lovely surprise. We called in for a light lunch and we were delighted to be welcomed by Tom, the most hospitable bar manager. My husband and son chose their beers- no complaints and ordered another, our wines were good. The menu is a mainly British menu, beautiful unusual pies, fish and chips, specialist sausages, steaks, popular Pub dishes with a twist using high quality ingredients. We did not try the staters or the desserts as we wanted a lunch that was not too heavy. The fish and chips are beautiful, lovely white fish in a light flavoursome batter case. A perfect size. The men chose the specialist sausages served on a home made mash, tasty gravy and caramelised onions. We will go back, I personally feel they need a tiny bit of a bar area albeit small where we were sitting. It's a lovely Inn, you must go and visit, the food is lovely, well priced and decent portions. We will go back. For the Full Sunday Monty very soon

Took my parents and for a late mothers day and early birthday treat together with our 2 "kids" of uni and college age for Sunday lunch. All of us loved it. The food was fantastic with good size portions and great tasting - even impressed my parents who are used to fine dining! And although very busy at the time we went, the staff coped admirably and were very friendly and attentive. Would not hesitate to go again, indeed we have booked with both sets of parents for graduation day.

We rang to book a table on Thursday 23rd March for Saturday 26th March 17 and was told that a table was available for 8pm. We arrived on Saturday to an empty pub and to be greeted with the young bar man saying the Chef had only just come out of hospital and that they were not serving food, and as they had not taken our number they could not cancel the booking. We found this very odd as the pub was advertising on face book that they were ready for Mothers Day booking's the following day. It was also odd that there was a board outside the pub advertising for a Chef and bar staff even though there was not a single person in the pub. We were then left to find a restaurant at 8pm to accommodate us. We were reluctantly offered a free bottle of wine if we went the following week. . I would advise that if you do book to go to this 'restaurant' ring again and check that they will be serving food when you get there.

All is superb - meal was glorious and far too filling but so flavoursome and individually prepared for us. Sadly few in but food and drinks were superb - with beers served perfectly. We shall certainly return.

My son took me here as a treat and with him being a student and not having much money, to be honest, I wasnt expecting much. I was so wrong. The carvery is every inch as good as anywhere that you'd pay more and the service was excellent. I went a second time to see if it was as I remembered and it definitely was. The second time, I was with a group of 20. Some ordered from the menu and some had carvery. The staff made sure that everyone was served together and no one was sat waiting for food. The one child in our group was treated lovely and made to feel important. Can't wait to go again.

We visited this pub as part of a 'pub walk' in the lovely Wolds area of Leicestershire. We checked the pub website carefully to make sure that it would be open and serving lunch on Friday 134th January 2017 - it said it would. After a great walk around Burton and Walton on the Wolds countryside we returned to pub at 1:30 p.m. to find it closed. We went to another pub in a nearby village and had a great lunch with superb service. We hear that English pubs are closing down daily - no wonder if they can't be bothered to open! You could do much better than this Greyhound. At the very least post accurate opening times on your website.

On the evidence of last night's visit, its really sad to see that the Greyhound has definitely gone downhill from the many brilliant visits myself, family and friends have had previously there over the years. Prices have gone up, but the choice on the menu has reduced, as has the quality and quantity of the food. Too many dishes tonight (starters and mains) were simply not available! Pies were odd pastry-wise and dry, and it didn't have the impressive hearty feel that it used to have. Also very disappointed to be told that the interesting-looking oriental chicken starter I wanted wasn't available, leaving choices as a soup, a cheese salad or a prawn cocktail! And also disappointed that one of our meals had had garlic bread replaced with chips, with no warning whatsoever, despite it being advertised.I hope it improves and it must improve on the next visit, because it used to be about the best pub meal out you could have! Back to basics guys!Instead of advertising and rattling on about an award-winning chef, think about what made the experience in there great before - the food was brilliant before and there was a good choice!

My partner and I had a fabulous meal tonight with a couple of friends. The Greyhound at Botecheston is a very cosy welcoming pub / restaurant with a real fireplace burning on a chilly night. There was plenty of choice on the menu. For our starters we shared a stuffed camerbert loaf, topped with pigs in blankets - tasty and different. With our main courses we ordered side dishes of potatoes and veg - there was way too much. Unfortunately we did not have any room left for desserts (which I was looking forward to trying). We will definitely return again soon. Positives - clean and cosy atmosphere, outstanding food and plenty, attentive friendly staff, and great choice of wines.Negatives - watch your head on the low beams - they're a bit of a headache!!!!!

We were a party of seven visiting for a birthday celebration. The Sunday menu was some what limited; choice of beef, lamb, chicken, seabass or cheese and leek souffle. The group opted for beef, chicken and lamb. Each dish was served with a selection of veg brought out in serving dishes (carrots, red cabbage, broccoli, mash potato, cauliflower cheese). Positives; cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and carrots were all very nice. Negatives; beef was very tough and almost impossible to cut. The mash potato was stodgy instead of light and fluffy, broccoli was on the hard side for our liking and the Yorkshire puddings were not fresh (most likely cooked yesterday) and served lukewarm. The pudding menu only consisted of three choices; profiteroles, bread and butter pudding or ice cream. The bread and butter pudding contained peanuts which was not mentioned on the menu and is a legal requirement for allergy sufferers. The combination of nuts, currants and black treacle did not work. The profiteroles were not home-made and served with a bland runny chocolate sauce. We were very disappointed with the overall experience and made the manager aware prior to paying the bill. He did say other people had complained about the beef and two other parties complained whilst we were there (there was only three tables booked!). The manager knocked 10% off the bill which was unsatisfactory, but we did not take this any further as we did not want to cause any fuss. Based on this experience we are unlikely to return in the future.

This once lovely village pub has had it, some times it is open and other times it is shut up at 6pm in the evening.Where is the person running it ??? It is now dirty and dowdy and will take someone special to put it back to its original standard. The two lads who tried and would have succeeded have moved on.The Brewery have let down Botcheston and all the regulars.

Booked a table of 18 on a Sunday lunch for my 21st birthday party. Chose this restaurant as always great food, friendly staff, lovely environment and good price. I'm sorry to say but I was really disappointed with this place, it's gone really downhill. Firstly- seated, lovely table in middle of restaurant.. Got some drinks and chatted while looking at the menu. Decided on pate and a carvery. Bought the starters out and two young girls were serving. No emotion on their face whatsoever. They dropped a prawn cocktail all over one of the party..and this could of been rectified with an apology and a manager come over but no the girls just laughed it off and smirked said sorry but not sincere. Fresh starter came out but didn't look like the first one. Starter ok. time for main, most of us were having carvery but 3 people were having others. We confirmed with waitress it was time to queue for carvery so in time the meals would be there so we could all eat together. We all sat down with our carvery but no sign of other meals. They came out 10 minutes later..one of the salads was incorrect..how long does a salad take to make hmmm???? One meal forgotten had to remind waitress three times. Finally came out. Processo was served to us. Lovely brand.. Carvery okay.. Normally lovely but not up to usual standard. Parsnips inedible!! Cauliflower grey.. All finished mains and waited ages and ages to be cleared. Waitresses were walking around could see we needed clearing but of course that seemed too much work to do.. 2 waitresses wiping one table right next to us.. Hello were we invisible??? Sat a good 20 minutes with dirty plates. One waitress, older, brown hair, came out of the kitchen eating something and walked around slowly and slumply.. I got the impression everyone else was running around and she had it easy .... Had hot drinks.. The only decent thing about the experience. Great vintage set and served on a board. But cold tea.. Well luke warm just about drinkable. Really unhappy :-( I will come back to give it another chance.. Maybe not on a Sunday though ? Come on greyhound, go back to your usual standards!!!!

I had the Lamb Tagine with flatbread. The flatbread portion was pathetic. It was about the size of one palm of my hand. A relatively nice meal, spoiled by stinginess!
