The Grenadier in Brighton and Hove

My wife and I were passing on our way home and decided to pop in here for some dinner and a few drinks. We visited last Monday (04/11) ,the barmaid Michelle was very friendly,polite and professional. Even telling us about an app that we could download and collect stamps to give us money off or a free drink. My wife and I couldn’t decide what to have to eat,Michelle went above and beyond even recommending dishes to us on the menu. She is an absolute credit to The Grenadier,we would definitely go back just to receive the amazing and attentive service from Michelle. Keep us the good work and no doubt we’ll see you soon.

Went here last week with some friends after work.Had a good selection of starters. Highly recommend the chicken fries. Great atmosphere,brilliant value for money.A special mention to Michelle and Tina for being so welcoming

Great lunch menu, good prices , nice sized portions and the chef Sam cooks steaks to perfection. She’s a star. Bar staff are ever so friendly especially Chris who ensures your glass is never empty!!!

Love this pub, the staff are lovely, and the food is amazing, specially the burgers. Another great evening! Will be back soon!

Had a lovely meal with my partner cooked to perfection by Rosa and was served by a very friendly barman Hallam. Would definitely recommend great food and staff, food and drink service was very efficient! Would definitely recommend the chicken tikka masala and the steak.

Be better if they had a delivery service apart from delivero. Excellent service, good prices.

We came for a family meal 17 of us on the 21st August…..I would just like to say from the moment we arrived to the time we left the service food & drinks were 💯 I would like to thank especially the chef Tina & Archie for all there hard work that evening as they also had another birthday table of 14 at the same time Our food all came out hot & looked amazing so a special thank you to the chef. Tina & Archie were polite & very helpful….Well done Grenadier I will be back again & can definitely recommend the place for a party 🥳 or large family meal

I haven't been in the Grenadier for a long time, it was a nice surprise to see the changes inside the pub, much better than how I remember it being. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our visit and the speed of service was very good.

Food was lovely, great value for money. Service and atmosphere was also great. Would definitely recommend.

Nice food, reasonable prices but seating could be a little more comfortable for an old one like me. Service good and cheerful staff.

My husband and I popped in for a drink on the way home… We were served by a very friendly and bubbly barmaid called Michelle. She was very happy and smiley the whole time she was serving us. Food was very reasonable priced and came out promptly. Was well presented and was served hot. Will definitely be returning, Great customer service and very attentive.

Had a lovely meal with the family and our dog made a best friend with Kiera who was working behind the bar- very chatty and funny. Will be back for Father’s Day!

This is not my regular pub, I visited recently for an 80th birthday party. The food was good, with a nice atmosphere. Service was also good, and there is parking available for those who aren't drinking and just want a family lunch. Looking at the menue there seems a lot to choose from.

Served by a lovely young Irish lady named Kiera. Absolutely amazing customer service. She was so polite and helpful . Definitely would go back thanks to her.

Very good food and drink selection had a good time and the waitress Kiera was very good and was very helpful in my decision on what to order.

Good places to go on thirsty thursdays

Glad to hear Richard the old landlord has finally left. I worked under him for years. He was barely ever on shift. Unfortunately in his hands the pub went drastically down hill. Good luck to the new landlords, hopefully you can bring The Grenadier back to its former self.

The grenny has been a pub I've been going to for years, it's nothing special but everytime I go In there it's always a good laugh mainly down to knowing many people who use the pub, food is alright and cheap, shame the pool table has gone.

Had a really nice evening in this local pub, food was hot, tasty and well presented. Nice atmosphere friendly staff and landlord took time to say hi which was nice. Will be back soon.

My mum and her neighbour often eat in at the Grenadier. Having lived in Hove for many years.I called in with them for a meal as I normally do when I visit. We can't believe the lovely manager has gone. We all had such a laugh with him and enjoyed his wacky sense of humour. He was the best manager they've had there. The new manager isn't seen often in the pub. Not sure why that is. Also the atmosphere has changed and not for the better! it isn't so welcoming now. The food is still good but come back Rich you are missed

Our food was cooked to perfection by the chef, Steve - particularly my fish and chips which is amongst the best I have ever had. The bar staff were cheerful and friendly - particularly Michelle and Keira. I can't recommend this pub highly enough.

The food was really over cooked rubbery & dry, mushrooms were raw no egg and pineapple even though the lady said she would put it down kids burger well over done was awful spent £49

The staff are very friendly and the food is much better than was before. I like the sizzling app as well.

Not reccomended - Not at all as advertised .Three of us went for a meal the food was poor, advertised and looked unappetising, Fish and chips - dark peas either old or tinned, brown chips and poor quality fish - Curry looked like a child's meal small and poorly served up - Gammon was poorly served up and not enjoyable.Tables not wiped properly (My phone stuck to the table !) Vegetarian options Poor . The telly blasted out we couldn't hear ourselves speak, Staff seemed disinterested. Some very poorly behaved kids running riot did not help the situstion, We would not go there again and would not recommend it.probably ok if you just wanted the sports on TV and have a beer or two.

Lovely meal this evening with my daughter. The staff were very helpful and making some good recommendations about the new menu. We opted for the gyros and hallumi flat bread, Steve cooked our meals to perfection, thank you- we will be back. The pub had a great atmosphere with friendly staff and happy customers :)

All sizzlers are not created equal..... Absolutely no comparison between the Iford Bridge and The Grenadier. Very disappointing- we chose a "Signature" sizzling dish - Chinese Pork Belly - no sizzle, no heat, no vegetables (we were told usual vegetables were unavailable ( on a Thursday night?!) but the proffered onions were barely fried, limp and tasteless, definitely no replacement for sizzling Chinese vegetables! Very small portion of chips cf with Harvester, but nice rice.

Went last night with a friend to watch the football and have something to eat. The food wasn't fantastic, but was perfectly edible and the pub was pretty much empty. However I haven't deducted any points because the staff were absolutely fantastic, and though we were the only people there, they allowed us to watch the end of the football before they locked up and went home. I can't speak highly enough of them. Just one suggestion, maybe it's just me, but I'm disabled and it might be quite helpful to maybe have an access path from the bus stop to the pub rather than having to walk all the way round? Yes, I know it's not far for most people, but personally it was a bit of a struggle. Thanks again to all the staff ( sorry, I don't know their names)

On long weekend visiting family called in on Monday evening welcomed by a lovely Tina & Michelle whom took our order. Tina was very polite & helpful informing us of offers & App for more loyalty ideas Food very quick & very hot. Great quality & quantity was enjoyed by all Definitely visit again when visiting & sure our family will use the pub now moved close by Thanks for a great evening

Popped in to do some work as I was in the area. Good selection of beers on tap, rare to find Guinness for under £5! Ordered a very reasonably priced mixed grill and it arrived quickly and was very impressed by it. Decent vibe to the pub, busy for the day. Would definitely recommend and will be back!

My husband & I decided to give the Christmas Party Menu a try. I had Beer- battered salt & pepper mushrooms followed by Fillet of Salmon & for dessert Caramel salted Snowballs. My husband had Crispy Prawns followed by Ding Dog Merrily on High ( Bratwurst) also finishing with the Snowballs. All the food was delicious and cooked perfectly. The profiteroles were perfection. We had two guest with us not eating the festive menu but they had Christmas Crackers too. A very pleasurable lunch with delicious food at a very reasonable price. One to try.

Just came in for a quick meal and got exactly that! The haddock was amazing and came up very quick. The staff were polite and professional which was appreciated greatly. Will be coming again.

Popped in after work and parked in the car park. Forgot to register my Vehicle registration at the bar (my mistake) . 4 months later have debt collection company letter come through the post asking for £160! No contact before hand what so ever regarding a ticket, fine nothing. Stay clear

Ordered a "mega" mixed grill, the steak was over cooked and an item from the dish was missing. The missing item was sent to the table swiftly. I won't order steak again though. The food came on such a large plate it looked empty. Lovely service and reasonable pricing though!

I enjoyed a nice surf and turf steak dinner .... cooked by Steve, Tina gave amazing customer service and Laura made a lovely pina colada... for the price, I would say is definitely worth it.... staff were friendly and welcoming.

This pub is absolutely appalling. The meal looked and tasted like it had been microwaved. It contained dreadfully poor, low quality, ingredients. The pub was noisy, smelly and our seats were torn. Many of those people using the pub were loud, badly behaved and drunk. We hated our evening out at The Grenadier and will never visit the dump again, or recommend it to our friend, families, colleagues, or neighbours. My wife’s glass of wine, she said, tasted very poor quality. On a more a positive note the staff were lovely, very helpful and were working extremely hard.

Noisy. Smelly. Full of people who were drunk. Appallingly bad food. Cheap, basic, ingredients. God knows how they cook the food but it felt like the skillets had been microwaved and then put inside a very hot over, or placed on to a hotplate. The only positive aspect was that the staff were truly lovely and doing their best, despite the circumstances. ps. Don’t say you weren’t warned! 🤮

It's a great place. The landlord and his wife are absolutely brilliant. First class atmosphere. Can't rate this place any higher 👍 great service and the staff are 1st class. M&b should be proud

This is a great pub grill, food came fast and piping hot, very friendly staff, nice simple dining area, very reasonably priced, will definitely visit again.

Rude waitress. Didn't want us there and kept missing items. And somehow that was out tables fault. She even come to the table and said " two classic breakfasts" I said one was mine. She said "well is anyone going to claim this other breakfast or not!" It wasn't even for our table. So so rude. Three of us had finished before the 4th even got his breakfast Took 4 requests to get the extra items that was ordered initially. Really poor.

50 minute wait for food that turned into 90 minutes. Food didn’t come all at same time. Was missing onion rings. Sizzling skillet had zero sizzle.

Being one of local pubs,I frequent here quite a lot to meet friends or just for a bite to eat and a drink with my wife. The staff are always friendly,attentive and professional. The food isn’t bad and the beer is cheap.

Came for dinner and drinks with the girls. It’s cheap and great quality. Tina served us all night with making our drinks and making sure we didn’t mind losing our table as we decided to move outside. We appreciate her. Lovely lady
