Palmeira in Brighton and Hove

This place has pretty much become my new local since moving to Hove. The staff are friendly, service is efficient and food is good 🙂 standard pub grub, nice for an inexpensive meal out. Drinks prices are pretty much standard for Brighton, but there are sometimes offers on the Greene King app for a free pint. Can be a little loud and busy on match days, which is standard.

Great evening for the last game of the Rugby 6 nations. Lots of screens to watch on. Brilliant atmosphere created by the additional entertainment put on. Definitely recomend for any sporting events.

Great pub, staff are very friendly and pour great pints. The food is seriously good, I’m confident in anything I order off the menu here. The gaffer also does a great clover on the head of a Guinness! (He said it’d taste better if I post this 😉). But couldn’t ask for a better local, great place for a few pints, watch a game, and play some pool.

A sports bar. Not able to get away from TV screens. If you line a bar with many screens then this is where you need to be

When for a pub lunch with a friend, food was fantastic, staff very friendly even the chef came to see if we were OK with the food, atmosphere fantastic

The best pub in Hove. Nice decor and really good atmosphere, reasonable prices, The bar staff are lovely and friendly, a really good pint and good variety of choice of food to eat which is really nice, they show all the tv sport, have live music entertainment to other event stuff like workshops going on. Pool table, Dartboard and board games. Take your friends and family there's something for everyone.

Great venue for sport! We did book a table for a recent important sporting event and couldn't actually see any screens from our booked table.

Had a great meal at the Palmeira Pub. Dishes matched expectations and Richard's service was 10/10. Will go back!

Went with family for a roast. Order extra Yorkshire pudding but was served one that was like this. Complained to staff nothing happened about this abomination. Never eat roast here

Lovely pub with a great variety of drinks and pub food. It offers a beautiful ambiance with a nice traditional decor, hosts live sports, live music, pub quiz, has a pool table and board games also available. So you will not get bored ! I visited on a Monday lunch time which was quiet and chill. Seating is comfortable consisting of tables and chairs indoor and outdoor , couches , high chairs and tables, and benches in the beer backyard garden. The staff are welcoming, friendly and happy to serve you. They are knowledgeable about the menu and ready to answer your questions and help you choose they also checked on me after food was served. Their menus including a kids menu offer a great variety of food and drinks with reasonable prices. Cocktails are 6£ they also have non alcoholic options for 4 £. The place offers lunch sandwiches for 6 pounds, main dishes, burgers and platters for 9 to 15.5. Vegan vegetarian options are also available. My order: Strawberry and cranberry spritz 3.99£ . the shweppes lemonade dominated and I couldnt taste the cranberry but overall it was refreshing and nice. Super grain Salad 8.79£ : surprisingly healthy food in a pub i loved this item made my day as it is a mix of grains( lentils, quinoa,beans) with soft boneless chicken thighs marinated with mango and lime and glazed with a sweet chilli sauce. The dish also contains avocado slices, tomatoe, cucumber, rocket leaves and grilled onion and pepper. Food serving speed was quick which worries me and unfortunately everything was fresh, tasted great, the chicken was well cooked soft moist and hot except the grilled onion and the peppers smelled and tasted spoiled.

Food was ok, drinks where fantastic And the staff where amazing while working in this tricky climate adhering to all the rules stringently while being super friendly, helpful and courteous! THis is definitely a local pub I recommend!

I’ve known this pub for years and it’s always been soulless. I think it’s the location, the staff are nice enough. Never satisfying.

Good selection of real ales, gives CAMRA discount, Wimbledon on TV. Pleasurable lunch break.

For a chain pub this is a very nice place.

Went for Sunday lunch with 4 friends .. very tasty but the lunches arrived at the table quite staggered so by the time the last person got theirs the first one had nearly finished .. very tasty curry sauce tho

This definitely is a great pub, especially for Brighton / Hove. Good food, good choice of drinks, friendly staff. The clientele are normal people, not tiresome Brighton yuppie types or tourists. Perhaps this is why the prices are reasonable and a small round won't cost you an arm and a leg. So highly recommended but one small quibble - if you say you open at 11am on a Sunday I expect to be able to put my bum on a seat there at 11am not find the doors still closed at 11:30. Otherwise would be a 5 star.

Had a lovely Sunday roast today here at the Palmeira. There was a minor incovenience with my meal and the staff were very polite about it and gave us compensation. Would definitely recommend 👍🏽

Always enjoy my visits here, great selection of reasonably priced food and drink. Live sport on TV and outside seating if required. A great place to come before Sussex cricket games and just a short walk from Hove station. Would recommend.

An okay pub. Food was okay. We went for music but the acoustics were just horrendous. So if you go for one of the gigs make sure to sit right in front of the performers.

Friendly staff and good live music. A bit out of town but I like to stop here for a drink on the way home from work and have a dance. The supervisor, I think his name was Mark, was friendly and accommodating. Will visit again.

Been here many times visiting a friend and they never seem to disappoint. A good selection of larger and spirits. A good spot to watch sports events, play pool and has a nice beer garden out the back!!

Great vibe, pool table great staff, food is not bad either. Ideal for watching sports events as they have a big projector screen. Book before you get there as they can get quite busy.

Big pub with all the necessities such as a pool table & dart board along with a lovely beer garden to the rear. All round fantastic pub and would recommend to anyone.

Great atmosphere for the football and good value menu

The pub looks nice from outside. It was a reasonable experience. On the positive: the food and drink are reasonably priced and quite good. Portion size a bit too small, but other than that, it was quite nice. A very basic meal though & expensive for what it was. On the negative: the toilets had no toilet paper & a broken toilet seat. This is very embarrassing to smell horrid because of this basic oversight. When I asked for a second drink, the bar man was rude: there was no smile, no hello. And he added a piece of orange to the drink without asking, & made out he had done something amazing for me. But it is something for everyone done as standard. Then the bar had spilt beer on a menu that just sat there whilst another member of staff was looking at their phone. And as usual, sticky and dirty tables and bar. Generally, the pub was not clean and the tables sticky - not the worst, but not that nice anyhow! Chairs were uncomfortable as well. Apart from that, 2/10. They need to do a lot to get me or my colleagues back in!

Very nice good and selection of beers and ciders. It was a bit crowded because of the rugby match and World Cup playing at the same time. In general, service is good and people are nice.

Have come in here a few times now and is slowly becoming my favourite local. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, they always have the best sport on and the atmosphere is great. Food is bang on and love the speedy service. Can't wait to continue enjoying this as my local!

My favourite pub in Hove. Great food, great beers, great beer garden and great for sport. Has a pool table which is rare in Hove. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. Kid friendly, dog friendly, what more can you want. Service is always quick. Landlord is so accommodating, what more can you ask for! Great place to stop off between Brighton and Hove or to stay for the evening.

Well, after reading other people's bad experiences and seeing their points are not adhered to, then I will add mine too, knowing mine will not be taken on board neither. I have had the same experience as most who left 1 or 2 star ratings. I went to the Palmeira Pub in person on Wednesday / Thursday of this week (week commencing 25th July 2022) to book a table for my friend and I for Saturday 30th July for 4:30 pm to watch Liverpool vs Manchester City Community Shield match. The booking was confirmed, after coming in to Palmeira Pub today, Saturday 30th July 2022 at 2:00 pm for a quick drink and saw our same table reserved which was facing the gaming machine and in view of the big screen. What we saw coming back at 4.30 pm is our table reservation card swapped with another without a phone call prior. The bar staff were rude, arrogant and caused conflict of interest because the head of the bar staff had swapped our reservation with his own friends and himself. I swapped the reservation back, so we have the original table and put the head bar man's and his friends on table 13. It turns out the head bar man had only two friends with him. My point is the customer is always right. End of. I was never rude to those young folk behind the bar. We left after the first half of the Game because of the hostile atmosphere the immature staff gave us when we ordered another round of drinks. I will not be returning. The Palmeira need to change management because it seems bad reviews will be never ending otherwise. Remember, bad reviews are very worrying, especially because in today's climate, reviews are important, because positive reviews alone will not cut the mustard if bar staff are only focusing on positive reviews and not seeing how bad they are in the eyes of other cash spending punters. Your reply is welcomed. However, my decision stands. I will not return to your Pub. Please respect my decision.

Fantastic Pub, great atmosphere, pool table has a lovely surface. Quick service, and great deals on drinks and food, which is brilliant. Would recommend to anyone in the Brighton area. Top pub. The bar staff are very accommodating and make it a pleasant experience every time. Always got the most relevant sport events on so this is the complete pub.
