The Greenwich Brewpub in Portsmouth

Turned up at 7pm on Sunday for food and beer and it was closed. It should have been open according to the Web site.

Visited The Greenwich on New Year's Day for a drink. Ended up having their Sunday Roast also. Great food and great service.

Always lovely to visit here. Good beer, good atmosphere and a perfect place to start off before heading for one of the many local restaurants. I've never eaten here but may give it a try sometime.

My go to pub when I come down from London.

Although this place is very close we have not been in for such a long time. Called in yesterday for Sunday lunch 10/12, the weather outside was dire so in we went and what a pleasant experience it turned out to be. I had the belly pork my wife the roast beef the food was piping hot ( which so many restaurants around here appear find difficult) Quality crisp roast potatoes, rich gravy and fresh veg with a bottle red. We spent a good couple of hours in the place even still sells my favourite Staropramen beer. The interior is light and airy and we found it was inviting us to stay. Keep it up we will be back, oh and not forgetting the staff who were excellent.

Found this place by accident but a great find. It is bright , welcoming and comfortable. The Sunday roast was fresh and plentiful, definitely worth a visit.

Greenwich is always good. Welcoming. Relaxed. Good service. From what I've seen of the food (yet to eat there) it looks good and I would eat there happily.

We went for a roast but the potatoes tasted like they'd been reheated. Not the best roast I've had.

I don't understand how anyone can talk bad on this place or if they just had a bad day but I have been coming here for a few weeks now and the new tapas menu they do is incredible. The pork belly bites was sublime and the salmon bruschetta was just perfect for my wife who loved every bite. On top of that, their roasts are just amazing. I came in on my own and had the beef and was greeted by such kindness from a young European lady who promptly gave me cutlery after I had ordered and even did a food check back mid way through I was eating which you don't get in many places. I was served by an older and younger gent and their customer service was impeccable and they were nothing but kind and respectful always using manners and having smiles on their faces. I think the only minor problem I ever encountered was when I went to go sit at a table with my drink and their was a few beer marks but they were severely busy that night but they still found time to go out of their way to clean the table without me even saying anything. Overall the staff and food at this place are just phenomenal.

Went out for dinner and drinks. The food was superb! Bar staff were super friendly as well. Will be coming back!

We were visiting Southsea for a few days and wandered in for drinks. We decided to have an evening meal the next day after looking at the menu and so glad we did. What delicious meals we had. I had the pork which was cooked to perfection and my partner had the chicken which was delicious. Good value for money. The staff were friendly and professional towards us and even asked whether we enjoyed our meals. Not many places do that. If you're looking for a relaxing place for a meal or just drinks (with background music not so loud that you can't hear anything else), then this is the place to go.

Very pleasant. Will definitely visit again. An ideal place for a drink or two before dinner. Seating a bit limited, but there's not much they can do about that. Recommended.

Popped in for a drink as normally a good selection. Unfortunately, the chillers were down, and only 2 drinks were available on draft, and the staff seemed a little deflated, probably from the critism. These things happen, and I will return.

My seven year old and I loved it in here on our first visit, the staff are incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome. We had a mezze of side dishes and they were scrumptious!

Nice place for a beer and a light lunch. 5 portions of their tapas are enough to fill two people. Nice selection of local beer on tap. The shrimp and chorizo ​​are great, the squid and chicken kebab are good. The cauliflower in curry was a bit disappointing. The only flaw - it's terribly noisy from conversations inside, but you can see the charm of English pubs.

Since losing the onsite brewery and swapping to new owners, the food is very expensive, beer is expensive and there are no decent ales on tap.

Good atmosphere, friendly staff and decent drinks selection.

We came for Sunday roast and waited about half an hour. When it came it was cold and not well cooked- difficult to chew, even difficult to cut.

Just had the most amazing Sunday roast with my family. The food was so good! We had the topside beef with sides, and my gosh was it delicious! Will certainly be returning 😊.

We had the most amazing dinner courtesy of the new Chef Lee. Tasty tapas: chicken and chorizo tagliatelle, goats cheese salad, asian cauliflower, chorizo in a spicy sauce, garlic mushrooms on toast. Staff and owner made us so welcome. We will highly recommend and return very soon to try more food! ❤️

Have watched this establishment evolve over a number of years, seems to improve with each incarnation. Had a quick bite to eat at short notice, food served with a smile and well presented. All the staff actually wanted us to enjoy our visit and went above and beyond.

Great atmosphere here and good choice of beer. Watched a few of the world cup games having booked a table first. Food excellent too.

On a visit from yorkshire and couldn't get in one pub as it was full and they recommended the greenwich which was only 2 min from our room Lovely pub. Staff very friendly food was awesome. General atmosphere was great definitely recommend and will be back

Stopped by on a Sunday and had the Chicken Roast Dinner. Best roast I've had in a long long time. Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

We went with friends, five of us in total. We had drinks and a bite to eat. My friend and I both had a basket meal each (great value and a good portion size) scampi with hips and chicken with chips. The guys had tacos, fajitas and a burger. We all shared the brisket nachos, they were fab! We've all been in previously and we'll no doubt be back. Lovely setting!

Enjoyed a lovely evening at the Greenwich pub in Southsea. The food menu has a great choice , reasonable prices, the food was really nice . The staff were very welcoming and attentive, would highly recommend this pub.

Beer was nice enough, customers at the bar were a bit loud clique-y and I felt like I was intruding when I ordered.

A very mixed round of drinks. The Seacider Rhubarb Cider was delicious, the White wine was on a par with a cheap carton wine from a supermarket. Didn't have a chance to try the beers though.

Great choice of craft beers and good food offering...tasty too. Worth booking as it got really busy after we arrived. Probably our age, but it got really noisy the busier it got and in the end it became difficult to hear each other speak.

Amazing staff, always so helpful and kind when I have no clue what gin I want. The Bar/pub is so clean and always looks fabulous, add some more veggie options and it will be 10/10!!!

Love it. It has this New York feel in the heart of Southsea. The staff are the best. So welcoming, I felt part of the Greenwich family the day I found this gem. When it's quiet you can have a lovely talk with the staff and when it's busy the vibe is buzzing due to their options of pizza, wings and burgers and loaded fries with the added bonus of single slice pizza plus loads of vegan options too created by Nice Slice. Their own craft brewery, crafted by MakeMake Brewing Co. at the back of the bar, you can see how it's created with constant care and fresh craft beer. What more could you ask for. For sure check this place out

Friendly staff and great beer selection.

Used to be the Belle Isle... now a beew pub... own brew is very nice and a good range of other beers and lagers.... not you usual...the place still lacks atmosphere. Too high a ceiling and the large open space is cold. People were sitting in the smaller spaces... the architect in me wants to get to work on the buffet room... people were friendly...

Massive pizzas and craft beer a decent venue

Great range of craft and awesome pizza!!

Overall, a cosy, expansive place for hanging out with friends and letting hairs, guards and everything else down. Even at its busiest times, service is quite timely, and drinks are quite affordable. Their colossal pizzas – a signature feature – are indeed colossal; unless you have an exceptional stomach, 2-3 slices are manageable before you're defeated. I'd say the pizza quality could be better [the cheese in particular isn't stringy, and cuts more like a cake], but still palatable. Nonetheless, the food is ideal for big parties.

Had an amazing Sunday roast in a nice chilled atmosphere. A very limited Sunday menu but what more do you need other than a choice between 2 meats and the various dietary restrictions in assorted sizes.

Imagine 'Cheers' but only half the people know your name... Which is a good thang...

Very tasty home-brewed beer, 3 different types, I recommend the naturally cloudy, ufiltered, "hasty". Of course there are many more varieties. We didn't eat, so I can't say anything about it. Friendly staff. A bit too loud for conversation for my taste, but others felt differently.

Do you like beer, pizza, wings, and loaded fries - all with meat, vegetarian, and vegan options? Look no further than this cracking place in the heart of southsea. Pizzas are on a lovely thin crust with amazing toppings. Favourite has to be the Big Handsome. Love the wings too - buffalo sauce is to die for. Friendly atmosphere, lovely staff, family friendly, and brewed on site beer. Literally can’t go wrong.

Really good beer and I can't really comment on the food but it did look nice (although £4 a slice is insane). The pricing is what I struggled with as it was fairly extreme for fairly well known non local beers. If a beer cost more than a cocktail (speaking of cocktails they were surprisingly reasonably priced) then something is wrong.

Literally the worst food and atmosphere in Portsmouth

Nice beer, pizza decent but the vegan burgers seem overpriced for the amount of food you get.

This was one of the tastiest and nicest pizzas I've ever eaten. It was huge. This is a great place to go. Will definitely return.

Eaten here twice now and both times have been delicious. The stand out for me are the pizzas, available in [big] slices direct from the bar or huge 20 odd inch beasts too. Very tasty and the dough is UNREAL. The menu offers more generous portions of loaded chips, fried chicken and vegetarian/vegan friendly items - Vegan Chicken too. Sampled a couple of beers but not my strong point as they become more diverse, of which The Greenwich definitely has when it comes to choice. The fit out from the previous bar has been done well, it feels more spacious, light and airy especially on summer evenings with the doors all opened up for some inside out action.

A group of meat eaters, vegans, veggies and fussy eaters went to The Greenwich and we all had a great time and amazing food. The pizzas are massive, but because we were able to get 2 flavours on our half and half, it was the perfect size for 4 of us. The chicken wings and dips were incredible, and there were plenty of vegan options for the veg lovers. The place a had a buzzing atmosphere, and now that I know you can get pizza by-the-slice, I’ll be popping back in very soon!

Someone clearly has done a LOT of research before making this place. Super fittings and layout. Brewery once up and running will I and sure based on Pizza Planet be A1. Four cask beers and twelve keg lines all serving quality indie beers. No big brand's !!!. I am totally sold on this place.

If you're answered 'yes' to any of the above questions, then you will want to pay this pizza joint a visit. Great food (including wings, chips and little bit more) that includes vegan/vegetarian options. Just like Merchant House, there's a huge beer selection too. Something for everyone! As of this writing, kitchen closes at 9pm but it's open till midnight (at least on Friday) for those wanting to drink more.
