The greenman pub in Milton Keynes

Really good food and a lovely place. We had the roast pork and the mushroom pie. Staff are always super friendly, helpful and quick. A good selection of beers, Greenking standard but also others. Venue is lovely, with a good bar area you can eat in (with open fire), and separate restaurant area for larger groups and a more formal setting.

Nice pub, did a great lunch deal. Plenty of seating.

Rude will not recommend this place

Took our 87 YO mum here for her birthday tea. Food was excellent and at very reasonable prices for plenty of it! Staff were super helpful. Highly recommended

We visit quite regularly as you can be guaranteed a great meal... however this time we came on a Sunday evening and had a roast...wow it was amazing value for money,piping hot and the veg was beautifully cooked ...I'm sorry to say I can't remember the young girls name who waited on us but she was polite and very efficient with Just the right amount of banter!!!!WELL DONE EVERYONE...a lovely end to a weekend Micheal and Teresa Thomas

I saw the Green man must have eaten some of the food..

Food was great. Atmosphere was great. Nice space to each. Was in the bar area because we had dogs. So sat next to the log fire. Love the fact they have a dog menu. Everyone enjoyed their food. Mains and dessert. Reasonably priced. Really enjoyed the table side entertainment, A local magician, very good.

Our second visit in a few weeks, why did we come back? The food and atmosphere of course.

Disappointing visit. Table booked, but due to an overbooking error we were put in the bar area with the promise of table service. O.k with this, we waited and waited and decided the server had forgotten about us. So went to the bar to order drinks. Was overcharged as I'm sure 2 cokes and 2 for 1 on Old Mout should have not been £19.50. Went back to table and waited again. Realised we would have to go back to bar and que to order our food. On ordering what we'd chosen, "sorry sir, no steaks, or much meat as we we're busy yesterday" This could have been mentioned on seating us . 2 Mac and cheese/ chicken nuggets and chips and gammon steak later, with no visit from any staff to check to see if we needed anything, more drinks or if our food was o.k, we had to get to the bar to settle our bill. As we got to the empty bar with three staff there, they all scattered and said , we'll be with you in a minute ? Not impressed and made a nice gesture of a family meal turn into a miserable experience. Arrived 18.15 and left 19.50 pm as soon as we finished. 20% discount off the bill was offered. Such a shame as the food that was available was lovely.

First visit and lucky find. Loved it . Nice welcome on arrival . Lovely smiley helpful waiter attended to us, and nothing was too much trouble for him. The food was superb, and everyone else's looked delicious too . I look forward to visiting again with my Dad. Thank you.

We had a Greene King voucher and decided to visit this pub despite the 36 mile round trip. It was a great choice, the weather was sunny so we had reserved an outside table. The pub was dog friendly which was great and they even had a doggie menu. The service was quick and friendly and the food was very good. Big range of beers and the prices for the meals and the drinks were reasonable so all in all a great choice and we will go back again.

Was recommended by a friend to visit. Great various drinks & food at a reasonable price. Service fron the staff was first class.

Lovely meal. Took a while for food but out with the family and didn't even notice the time. Great atmosphere and service. Staff checked all was OK a few times, attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and lots of choice. Easy to book a table online.

It's been the Hit & Miss Inn again for us, I'm afraid! We stopped off on the way back from MK for lunch on a Tuesday. Little welcome on arrival, the two guys serving seemed a bit lackadaisical to us. We'd like to eat....where can we sit...it was us asking all the questions! Anyway, we sat in a quiet area, away from the work going on at the front of the pub. Was there table service? No...it appeared not. So, I went to the bar and ordered. When the food came my wife liked her lasagna and my pie was OK. We discussed over our food how service can differ so much at a pub...my wife came here recently with a friend and had good service. Obviously not this time. In the end we went for 4-stars but if this second visit was a one-off it would have been 3. Surprising, to be honest! Disappointing too!

Love this pub, been many times. Great vegan and vegetarian options, particularly enjoyed the vegan katsu curry and the risotto. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Highly recommend for vegetarians and vegans.

The food was excellent even though we hadn't booked they got us a table worth a visit.

Absolutely phenomenal food and service! We were seated straight away and our server was very attentive. We all ordered different meals, didn't have to wait long and every dish was served hot, cooked to perfection and delicious! The place has a lovely atmosphere and really is levels above your standard expectations for a Greene King pub - which I must say is not bad but just average.

Can sometimes be on the slow side between starters and mains apart from that spot on.

A group of us often meet at this place. The new menu is a big improvement- very good choice and good prices

We were a party of 7. Service was excellent, orders taken, and the fantastic food delivered promptly. Staff were fantastic, extremely helpful, and friendly. We all had the Sunday roasts. 2 roast beef, 3 lamb shanks, 1 turkey, and 1 mixed roast. Humongous and tasty Yorkshire puddings. Good choice of deserts overall no faults found.

First visit to the Green man. First impression was a warm friendly village pub, well decorated and cozy. Lovely , helpful bar and service staff. They have a really good selection of cask ales and bottled beers and a good wine list. The restaurant menu is not too overwhelming with choices which is good and the food is cooked freshly. I chose a beef and ale pie with veg and mash. This was first class. No negatives from me at all.

Nice environment let down by under par service, many food options unavailable lack of attention until the table was needed. Broken shell in the mussels was a shame.

I think I chose the wrong meal. Turkey and beef toast. Beef was very fatty gristly, could only eat half, turkey was smoked!! Why one wonders wasn't it described as such I wouldn't have ordered it. I didn't like the taste but another in the party though it was nice. Roast potatoes very nice, parsnip very big so a little tough but not bad. Peas were bullets, sorry, they should be early part-blanched and kept in fridge for instant 'cooking' then they're fresh and bright green. Lovely gravy and magical Yorkshire's. Really lovely cauliflower cheese, nicely served. All others in group thoroughly enjoyed their food. Superb friendly and efficient service. I will revisit and recommend you give them a try. Very busy so it tells you it's worth it.

Food was quickly prepared and nice quality. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The snug area was lovely for a chat with friends

Lovely lunch for Mothering Sunday.

Visited for Mothers day Lunch and had a fantastic meal in a very pretty setting the personalized Mothers day card that the staff had done was a nice touch but credit to the Chef the roast lamb was truly amazing this place never fails on service or meals well done and thank you for working so hard to look after us today

The food and beer were excellent, and served by very friendly staff. We all enjoyed our visit.

I had the best gammon steak with chips, peas, a fried egg and a pineapple ring. The gammon was about an inch thick and lovely and tender. My compliments to the chef and whoever buys the meat. We will certainly be eating there again.

An excellent choice for meeting up for a meal with friends who we hadn't seen since last October.

Has been a while since visiting here. And the new owners and staff are fantastic. It was pie thursday. £15 for a pint and a pie. The food is fantastic. Strongly recommend anyone to come here! Tino is a legend behind the bar. Great atmosphere, real british pub. A true gem. Don't miss the chance to have a beer and some food here 10/10

My old local nice to see the standards are still there will return.

My destination for a 4 mile cross country walk from Olney today. A pint of Abbot in perfect condition and at a perfect temperature. And with it being ‘Cask Monday’, with the beer on special promotion, a pint and a packet of crisps for £3.70 is unmissable

Poor processed food very poor quality

Been few days ago for a lunch and I was greeted at the entrance, showed the dining room and served at perfection! The food was great too!

First time in here and it was very nice indeed. Service good, food good. The accept dogs in the bar which is very cosy.

Me and my family had a christmas eve turkey roast dinner and we were appalled by their food. The potatoes and parsnips were half cooked and definitely not roasted enough, the carrots and sprouts were not cooked enough The starter, prawn cocktail, was overfilled with lettuce, not enough sauce and the butter to go with the bread was too hard. As a dessert we had ice cream and this was way to cold.

Beautiful pub, great food, great service. Just 0 atmosphere at the weekends unfortunately. Its more the case that even on a Friday or Saturday night its totally dead which is weird as there is only 2 pubs to go to! Maybe everyone in levendon prefers a hit chocolate at a weekend indoors!

Lovely meal great service very friendly staff and looked very christmassy

Had breakfast with Santa!!! We had a well cooked and delicious full English with juice and coffee, our granddaughter had activities to do at the table before a visit to Santa, who really spoilt her. What a find this venue was, top job team Green Man. You made our morning very special. Thank you.

We had an excellent meal last night, it was from the festive menu. Waitress was friendly abd helpful, Christmas deco inside and out was fab abd the food was amazing. Highly recommend and will be going again.

Sad to say this lovely looking pub really let its self down today. I had beef bourguignon, it was OK but the broccoli was stone cold, my wife had steak and ale pie and the pot of gravy was just a solid lump, my daughters fish looked like it had been left somewhere just cooking it was pretty terrible really. Redeeming part the was an ex eastenders actor in there lol 😆 don't know his name my daughter recognised him. Sorry to say we can't recommend this place for food.

What a really pleasent pub. A good selection of ales and wines. Not eaten there yet, but evey time we visit the restaurant and bar areas are packed with diners... So I can confidently assume the chef is a good one. Very dog friendly. Staff all very helpful and friendly. It has a large garden which will be good for summer and families. Very happy to recommend!

Very good food and dessert cooked perfect

Had an amazing night there a couple of weeks ago. All the food was amazing and we felt like we were rolling out of the door. Great atmosphere and lovely biscotti style cheesecake. Well be back soon.

Had a lovely dinner sat in one of the multiple beer gardens with both shaded and sunny spots. Very friendly and professional service - nothing is too much trouble. Food was good quality and good value.

Passed this pub many times without venturing in. So glad we did. Lovely food and nice friendly staff. Made room for us even though we had not booked a table. My wife had the Ruddles steak pie and I had the mixed grill which you perhaps should only order if you are very very hungry as it's loads of food. Will definitely visit again.

Booked for lunch for mums 90th. 13 people in total.Staff where extremely friendly and polite. Food was served together and was great

Always enjoy this restaurant but unfortunately the service wasn't great on this occasion. I had to flag attention to order food, again for desserts and for the bill. I then had to get up and wait by the order point to pay. The waiting staff were hanging around and chatting, just not attentive enough. The food was great as expected, just the overall experience let down.

The team at the Green Man played a special part in my surprise proposal last night and I am so grateful for the lovely service we received.. From the carefully selected table, the excellent (as always) service and the swift congratulatory prosecco and dessert to share straight afterwards! We loved the Green Man on our first date here over 9 years ago and now it is linked to an even bigger moment in time for us. Thank you!!

Had a meal with friends yesterday, one of our friends chose rump steak the first one was quite undercooked and raw in the centre. The 2nd one was so tough he couldn't eat it. None of us will be ordering rump steak again. Service was quite good.

Lovely lunch on a Monday afternoon. The young lady who greeted us as soon as we walked in was friendly, polite and helpful. 4 different meals, 2 of them vegetarian, and a 10month old throwing his food on the floor didn't phase her in the slightest. The food was hot & tasty with decent sized portions. The chicken, avocado & bacon open sandwich was plentiful (couldn't eat all of the chips). The scampi and chips with mushy peas were also thoroughly enjoyed. Dogs are welcome, there was a barrel of "Paws-ecco" on the pathway to the door and we saw some inside but not in the dining area.

Very good experience. We picked this restaurant due to the comprehensive gluten free options and weren't disappointed. Only 4 stars for 4 though as portions could've been a touch larger. We'll visit again though

We had a delicious Afternoon Tea at the Green Man last week. The staff, particularly Sue was friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend the pub to our family and friends.

Always love visiting the green man. The food and service are always great. Lots of choice on the menu. Best of all staff are great with our grandson who has special needs. If we say we're going to the pub, he says, "The Green man." So it's always The Green Man. We are never disappointed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Green Man on the 7/7/23. All the staff were kind and friendly which created a lovely atmosphere. The service provided by Sue, our waitress was incredible. She gave recommendations and was warm, kind, helpful and attentive. Our food was brilliant too! Would 100% recommend.

Lived near here for years but never been. Went out for lunch four of us. Service and welcome was great and so was the food. Be back again.

Staff (mainly bar staff) are beyond rude, asked politely for a Gin and Lemonade and the lady behind the bar put a tiny bit of lemonade in, we asked so politely to add some more and she ignored us and snatched the glass away to put some more in. I asked for a glass for my Heineken and she ignored me and slammed a glass on the bar. Prior to serving us, she was rude to a waitress and said to herself in front of everyone at the bar “Ugh! I’ve had enough, I don’t even care anymore!!”. When on the bar and in a customer service role it’s important to be happy even if you’re not on the inside as you are the forefront of the business! It’s service with a smile and sadly on numerous occasions we don’t receive that here. We even tried to reserve a specific table for food once to be told they can’t guarantee us that table and I said ok that’s fine but just out of curiosity why not in which I was told “if someone is sitting on it having drinks since 4pm and you want it at 7 we can’t ask them to move”. Having worked in hospitality for 5 years and my partner in it for 10 as a manager of one of the biggest wedding venues in Northumberland we’ve never heard such nonsense before. Food is ok but nachos are beyond basic and hit and miss. Safe to say, won’t be back. Very happy the Horseshoes is under new management, food is fantastic, service is brilliant and overall a lovely local. Such a shame about the GreenMan but maybe some changes need to be made before we go back.

Something has changed here over 6 months, as we went in today and ordered same food we have has before and got total disappointment and completely different fast food deep fryed offerings, rather than the freshly prepared meals of previous visits. Wrong chips with an undercooked steak. Katsu curry that was made with a southern fried chicken burger cut up. Beyond burger that was missing all contents and nearly cold. Chicken burger with same issue and would have been better quality from McDonalds (and no that is not a good thing). Onion rings white and see through. Rosemanry chips with no rosemary. Need i go on. Could not get out of the place fast enough. Explains why the place was nearly empty compared it usual buzz on a sunny day. Steer clear to avoid disappointment, this was one of our go to country pubs but is off the menu after todays efforts and presentation.

This was my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised. It is a lovely pub with lots of character. A good menu and very good staff. Will be going again to eat there.

Just been what a lovely place. Good food clean and tidy. Staff were welcoming and food omg was lovely. I had a toasted sandwich which was huge very tasty too. Plenty of parking

We had a starter of camembert with the most wonderful sourdough bread, we are certain it was home-made as it was amazing. We also had squid which was cooked perfectly. Followed by the most sumptuous steaks. The surroundings were beautiful and staff were super friendly. We'll worth a visit. Well done guys.

Large pub with lots of seating for food. Service is always pretty quick and the range of beers is good, but the draught ales are a bit basic. Good range of ciders and plenty of outside space.
