Popped in for a coffee but none available. Lunch was a lasagne , small portion. Garlic bread was so hard I had trouble biting. Small salad in vinegary dressing. Served on a plate with faux newspaper , which got soggy and tore when eating. Tasteless burger also served on paper with chips in a pot. Overpriced for the poor quality. No check back until plates collected. Two different staff looked at our table after eating but it wasn’t cleared for around 20 mins despite the pub being almost empty. Cutlery & floor not the cleanest and staff were on their phones. Ambiance non existent.

Sitting here at the Galleon. It is not looked after at all. If they took pride in this location they would have a great place and probably get a lot more business. There was litter all over the place. Ashtrays are full, cigarette butts all over the ground. Broken glass on the table and ground. Not a safe place for families with small children or anyone else for to be honest.

Overall a bit of a dive pub. It's a nice location so you can have a walk along the canal, cheap pub food, and the whole place needs a good clean and paint. We wanted to try it once. It's a shame as there's potential here for a lovely pub garden by the canal, but just lots of benches strewn about and overgrown grass. The Navigation Inn is much nicer.

This pub could have so much potential. Place was pretty dirty overall, benches in garden need a good sand down, repair and paint job. Ordered food and waited 40 mins to receive all meals over cooked and missing items. Received a refund but so disappointed

Firstly flies are a big issue! Flies absolutely everywhere. We had to move tables twice because of the flies and by the third table we gave up as moving was clearly not helping even though we were inside. ( It was slightly warm the day we went so may have been worse because of this) We ordered a selection of food. Once it arrived we were convinced it was frozen food. The pizza tasted like it was bought from the local supermarket and could have paid half the price to put in an oven myself. Still tasted great as it was a basic pizza hence the 2 stars. The chips were the best thing we ate but you cannot really go wrong with chips. The tequila tots were supposed to be covered in seasoning but the seasoning was nowhere to be seen. The toilets were also dirty so unfortunately i would not recommend coming here for food but is an alright pub if you want to have a drink.

Went for first time in a long time for a family day.... Waited for a while at bar for drinks. Not exactly apologetic about the wait. Orders food to return one meal as was cold. The rest of food was not cold but not exactly warm but we didn't wanna make a fuss. The portion sizes for money wouldn't say was value. If the food was warmer and staff a bit more helpful it would have been a very good meal but unfortunately was nice but don't think would go again sorry guys

In short: kinda minging, but dog friendly. I came here once about 11 years ago and it was a lovely vibrant canal-side pub. It's still the latter but that's about it. The toilets were gross, the glasses were filthy, we ordered nachos that took well over 30 mins to arrive. The bar staff were pleasant and they do have water bowls for dogs but it's really hard to say much more that's positive. The whole place just feels kinda run down these days, it was a sunny day and the garden was empty, the grass needed cutting too. So weird; it's such a great space in an excellent location, it should speak for itself but the care is just not there. It's such a shame.

Moored up close to this pub. Old Peculiar on tap £3.80. The food selection was pub grub. Unpretentious. It had more of a pub feel to it, than a restaurant that sells beer. I paid £14 for three taster plates. Probably a little more expensive than a main course, but enjoyable. Their spicy chicken wings were fiery. Southern fried chicken goujons and chicken tikka pieces. It was a proper pub.

I’m writing this review for the management. I was so looking forward for a wonderful drink by the canal . that was a disappointment, Lack of staff on a very busy day and leaving a very inexperienced bar man who had only be working there for 2 weeks . I asked for a vodka lime and soda water, but got a vodka and soda water with a slice of lime in as there was no lime cordial, but at no point was that explained, So I asked for a blush wine and soda water instead, I received a white wine and soda water , or should I say a splash of wine filled up with soda water. THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH SODA WATER ONE CAN DRINK,

Called in for lunch with my wife on a hot and sunny day, looking forward to sitting by the canal in the garden. Ordered lunch to find out 15 minutes after ordering that eggs were not available for the ham, egg and chips that we had ordered. There was no offer of a substitute so the meal was delivered with one of the main elements missing. There was only one member of staff on duty covering the bar and garden which is across 2 floors, which meant service was slow although that member of staff did try their hardest to manage what was an unacceptable situation. The garden is as mentioned by other reviews an absolute disgrace and should be considered a major health risk. The ground was littered with fags butts, rubbish, bits of metal, plastic and other items. The grass was destroyed in many places and is just mud. The benches were beyond tired and worn and clearly need either replacing or repairing and painting. The benches hadn't been organised in the garden and were literally almost in a heap, the fences are tired and worn and what used to be a lovely children's play area has now been removed and 40% of the garden is an enclosed barren woodchip area. Despite the high temperatures there were only 2 dirty, stained and broken umbrellas and therefore no shade. This place has gone drastically down hill over the last couple of years, it is certainly not a place for families and the garden is dangerous for any dogs you may wish to bring. A pub certainly best to avoid.

Please view my experience from the perspective of missing food by the slimmest of margins so I can't comment on the food. The website said the kitchen closed at 8pm. We arrived at 7.50pm to discover that last orders for food are called at 7.45pm. Unless I missed it, the website didn't mention that, so we are disappointed. What made it worse was the staff not acknowledging we existed until we took the initiative and then their approach was curt. Hey ho, food and drink will be found elsewhere.

Eating mainly vegan I did not expect to get something that fulfilled my needs and had made up my mind for having fish and chips instead. But I was positively surprised as there where a some vegan options available - more than I had in other places. I opted for the Bombay Burger and liked it very much. Daughter and husband had meat. Really bad food. We ordered 3 starters (that came out with the mains) and 2 burgers and every dish had something wrong. We would have sent it all back but we had already waited 45 minutes so was starving! One of the burgers was completely the wrong burger (ordered vegan Bombay Burger and got the vegan gourmet burger instead), the Desperado burger had no spring onion or cheese sauce, standard chips instead of paprika chips, no onion, iceberg lettuce not baby gem lettuce, no mayo with the mushroom starter, no bbq sauce with the mac n cheese bites, and our ‘shicken tikka pieces’ looked like the attached picture!! What about a piece of iceburg lettuce, a tomato and some mayo is ‘Asian slaw’?!?! To top it off, it was all cold. We had to ask for cutlery and got 2 forks, 3 knives and no napkins. Ketchup had a squirt left in it, so had to find the sauce station and replace it myself (and grabbed some napkins!). No one came up to us in the meal to ask how it was going, otherwise we would have complained. Would never go back and would never recommend. AVOID and save your money.

My friends and I were looking forward to a nice meal, only to be turned away due to the kitchen being closed. This lack of communication and attention to detail is unacceptable, and it left a bad taste in our mouths. If a restaurant advertises they are open, they should ensure that their kitchen is operational during those hours. Lovely old fashioned pub, in a lovely place. staff are great and locals ae very friendly. only gave 1 star for food because I don,t think they do any, apart from crisps etc. just like the good old days!

I ordered the large breakfast, but it was disappointing. The portion of beans was laughably small—barely even half a spoonful. The toast was burnt around the edges but still soft and barely toasted in the middle. And the fried eggs were so overcooked they were practically solid, making them difficult to eat. Quite a letdown overall.
