We visited The Granville Arms for Sunday Lunch on our way down from Nottingham completely off the cuff. There are very few pubs that I visit that I feel inclined to write a review for, but this is one of them. They were relatively busy, as you'd expect for a Sunday lunch, but even so, the service was friendly and attentive. There was a well balance menu, but for me the stand out dish was my roast beef that was one of the best I have had in a long time. The quality and cooking of the beef was excellent, complimented by an array of vegetables. My companions were equally impressed. We will make a point of visiting again next time were passing through. We found this little gem because our original booking was cancelled last minute. But what a find the food was amazing we complimented the food and the chef came out and thanked us the waiter was only young but was very good at his job catering for our needs. If we were in the area again would most definitely eat there again

We are locals in Barford and have watched this pub go through many landlords over the past few years. Since it's latest reboot, Keith the new landlord appears to be heading in the right direction. We ate there today and it was simply the best Sunday roast I can remember having, just perfection. While the pub is still finding its feet on some levels, I urge anyone to find a better Sunday roast in Warwickshire. Please give it a go!

The food was fantastic and the restaurant deserves to be full. The smoked ribs were delicious and the loaded fries superb. Tasty, hot, smoky with beans and crispy chips. 10 out of 10. However….the customer service was poor and the guy at the bar seemed out of his depth. I really want this place to succeed because the food is amazing, but they need to get someone front of house to welcome people and fill tables. Get the whole USA smokehouse vibe going with props and music!! We will definitely go back for the food but they need to get the service sorted. If they do that this place will be a gold mine.

We held my fathers wake at The Granville Arms yesterday in the barn room. Jackie was great from my initial enquiry. The menu options were really reasonable compared to other venues and was just what we wanted- tea/coffee, sandwiches and cake. I didn’t view the venue beforehand but it didn’t disappoint. The room was beautifully laid out and staff were on hand to serve tea and coffee. The sandwiches and cakes were homemade and delicious. We were able to take a usb with photos to play on the tv screen in the room. This was great and everyone enjoyed looking at the photos and sharing memories. The venue was only 5 minutes away from Oakleywood Crematorium and has ample parking. We had the room for as long as we wanted and we didn’t feel rushed at all. I would definitely recommend this venue for a wake.

Visited for a family lunch on New Year’s Eve. Really lovely staff, waitress (sorry didn’t get your name) was absolutely fantastic, very friendly and attentive. Really great food. Very welcoming to our dogs. Just one area for improvement - the ‘sticky toffee pudding’ was just a microwave syrup sponge and not on par with the other homemade desserts at all, possibly had run out of sticky toffee? Otherwise really lovely lunch, would come again.

The Granville Arms, and particular Jackie could not have been more helpful, during an emotional and stressful time for our family. Unfortunately, our father passed away at the end of November, meaning his funeral was taking place during normal Christmas celebrations for most people. The Granville were very sympathetic, we were placed in the separate back room for the wake. Food was excellent, Jackie always there to hep with any requests. Would thoroughly recommend.

The food and drink was excellent and there was also unlimited tea and coffee. There was no charge for the use of the room and the buffet represented excellent value for money. We had friends visiting for the weekend and visited The Granville for a roast. We weren't disappointed! The food was lovely, the roast beef was so good, lots of fresh vegetables and really tasty homemade gravy. The sides of cauliflower cheese were really good, we were fighting over who got the crispy cheese on top! Desserts were equally as good, especially the crumble which was homemade and had a lovely crunchy top.The weather was beautiful so we sat outside. The service was great and we were checked on regularly by the waiting staff to ensure we had everything we needed. We're lucky to have pubs like this on our doorstep and will be back again soon for sure.

This was a regular haunt of ours and was regularly used by our b&b guests until it deteriorated before the last owners left and we stopped going. We were hoping for good things with the new owners but sadly not. We visited at 8pm on a Friday night which should have been busy but the place was virtually empty and we were put in the barn at the back which was cold, unwelcoming and smelt of toilet cleaner. The table was not that clean and we were one of only two tables with customers. The menu was very lack lustre and I ordered pizza only to be told they only do pizza twice a week and not at weekends. I had the halloumi burger which was lukewarm and tasteless, my husband had scampi and chips which he said was obviously frozen and tasted of nothing and one of our friends had a pie which came with no gravy and was dry. By the time we had finished eating at 10pm the place was completely empty. I won't be recommending it to my b&b guests.

However we’ve eaten there twice in the last month (Aug 2020) and have had the most delicious fish and chips, and today some amazing pizzas, garlic bread and burgers. We also had some lovely takeout during lockdown. All good value without any government discount applied. This is our closest pub, but only the 4th or 5th time we have been to the Granville in the last 20 years under the 3rd or 4th different management. Each time it has been a disappointment and this time was no exception. We had pre-booked for a meal, and mentioned this to the member of staff who met us at the door, who didn't ask our names but just asked us to queue. He then just allowed others to push past and wander in, without bothering to check what they wanted or if they had pre-booked. After a couple of minutes he asked us what we wanted to drink. Other than there being no orange juice on the premises, the drinks were served quickly while we waited. When we were seated after a 5 minute wait, it was about 10 minutes before we were given any menus. These were limited and rather dull for a pub with any aspirations. Basically, it is pizzas, burgers, fish and chips and, I think, pasta. After a few minutes the waitress appeared ready to take our order, but as we were about to tell her, she shot off to do something else. It was another 10 minutes before she was back to take the order - a pizza and fish and chips. But the pub had run out of fish and chips, despite apparently "having ordered ample" - not ample enough obviously. So the fish and chips became burgers and chips. We had a long wait for the food, during which we saw that the used glasses were piling up on the bar in a haphazard fashion with nobody bothering to clear them. Eventually 75 minutes after having arrived at the pub we got our food. The pizza was fine and very acceptable. The burger though was burnt and the chips were dull. The food at least was hot.It seems as if the pub is jinxed as the new management run two other pubs locally both of which are excellent. Slow service has been a weak point every time we have eaten at the Granville, which is why it has been only once every five years or so that we visit just to see if it has improved. With this experience we won't be back. There are much better alternatives locally.

Like the Monty Python cheese sketch. It was Friday night but the bar was not full and the back restaurant was empty and very cold and we were told the heating had broken. There was an electric fire at one end of the bar but not surprisingly there was no space there so we had to sit in the cold. We ordered some red wine and then were told that it was not available, so we chose again - again not available, Eventually there was only one red wine available which was not one we would have ordered but we had to have it and it wasn't that nice. Then we started to order food - we ordered a sharing camembert - not available, scotch eggs - not available, then ordered again and the next thing wasn't available - you get the gist. Eventually my sister was so frustrated she just asked what was available and the only starter we could have was a platter of chicken wings. Then we ordered main course - again most things were not available so we all decided on the chicken which was available - then about 5 minutes later the server can back to say only one chicken was available! It was just appalling and the whole thing took so long that we decided to miss the pudding as it was getting so late. To cap it all, when we got the bill, we were charged £50 for the wine we did not want! It is a great pity as this pub used to be really good and over the last 3 years we have sent over 300 of our b&b; guests to it for supper and sadly we have now taken it off our list of recommended places

We were on our way up to the North of England from Brighton and needed a break and some food. Our Tomtom navigated us to The Granville. There was only one other couple in there but that was ok and we ordered a burger and fish and chips. They were very good and the fish was real - you could see the inside of the fish as the batter was so light (normally the batter is that thick in most that you cannot see it!). The chicken burger was also very good. If we were passing through again we would definitely stop. They have a restaurant as well and rooms which I would think are probably also good. The staff were friendly and service was good nothing to complain about.

2 hours (with only a handful of other diners) for 4 pizza and 1 burger! Apple crumble came without crumble & just brown sugar (we were correct and told it was brown sugar and flour, whatever it was, it was not crumble!).

We stopped here on our way home after a day out. As there were not many people there when we arrived, we divided to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant. It was very bright and airy and it wasn’t long before we were asked about drinks. Unfortunately, not much on offer with draught beer, so my husband was a bit disappointed. We looked through the menu and as we didn’t want burgers or pizza, went straight to the main meals. I chose chicken supreme and my husband, the salmon. When the meals arrived, the plates were piping hot which was good but the portions were not that generous. I also expected the chicken to come with a sauce but there was only a smear of mushroom purée on the side. It all tasted nice but not feeling full we decided to have a pudding. Sticky toffee pudding but there were no dates and the fruit crumble had far too much juice to pour custard over.

Stopped here after work for dinner. Really enjoyed the more unusual pizza offerings on the menu, will definitely be back on a Mon-Thurs evening for the 2 for 1 pizza deal! Also had the seafood sharing platter which was excellent. Service was wonderful, attentive and friendly staff with table service to the garden. Really enjoyed the evening and would definitely recommend.

Truly awful place. Distinct lack of atmosphere and very bland food. Without wishing to be unkind.. Will not be returning.

Wonderful staff and service. I live next door and so it is lovely to be able to go there even just for a coffee.

Having decided I wasn't cooking tea one evening, we stumbled across the Granville Arms. Very pleased that we did. Food was beautiful with a warm welcome. Bit pricey for an impromptu tea but definitely worth going again for a special occasion. Mind you, I rarely serve that quality of food from my kitchen!!

On a visit to Stratford Upon Avon we decided to stay in Barford a lovely village a few miles outside Stratford. It has an excellent pub which I am happy to recommend. With great food and friendly staff. I am happy to give The Granville a five star rating..

Warmly greeted and seated. Good selection of drinks and a very diverse and interesting menu. We had a sharing board and then Asian duck salad and nice spicy crab and prawn linguine. Reasonably priced with lots of special offers. We were just visiting but would surely return if in area.

We visited on Mothering Sunday and had the most delicious roast beef with a fantastic desert to finish. We’ll certainly be returning next time we are in the area. Great food and service

An alternative to eating at the Glebe Hotel. We chose to eat in the restaurant rather than the bar, although we were the only customers. Very friend,y service and the seafood sharing platter as a starter was excellent. Ended up hearing all about the waitress’s “Three Peaks Challenge” and made a contribution on Just Giving!

Met a friend here for dinner tonight. It is equidistant from both our homes and it was my first visit. The welcome was warm and friendly from the girl who served behind the bar and waited on our table. She took our order promptly and the food came out in less than 15 minutes. It was well presented, well cooked, tasty and there was plenty of it.

Oh my gosh, this place is amazing. The atmosphere is incredible and the food was utterly beautiful! I had the chicken burger for mains and waffles for dessert. I cannot put into words how delicious these were. The pub is also dog friendly - a huge bonus for a crazy dog lady such as myself. This is all topped off by the fact the owner and staff are such warm, friendly and considerate people. Cannot wait for our next visit already, and the many more visits in the future.

I'm really not sure how you can mess up a panini, but these guys managed to do it - it was cold on the inside so the cheese hadn't melted at all. My dad ordered the croque monsieur open sandwich and got an extremely sad looking white roll with a sliver of cheap processed ham and a small amount of plastic cheese melted on top. Quite the joke for the price charged. Not sure if the dinner menu is better, but skip lunch, it's really poor

Overpriced and pretty poor food. The bread was still uncooked and doughy in the middle and despite advising staff I still got charged for it. The pesto Parma chicken pasta was swimming in oil, the fish I’m pretty sure was frozen with a tiny handful of fries and the linguine was over cooked and stodgy. We enjoyed each other’s company and the waitress was nice but was over all hugely disappointed with the food. The fact the place was empty at 1 o’clock on a Saturday afternoon speaks volume.

Good food, reasonably priced, great location all good apart from a lack of staff. Food slow coming out of the kitchen with one poor woman serving, doing the bar, answering the phone and sorting out the bills. She was doing a great job under the circumstances. Many items on the menu not available.

The staff here don't look like they like working here. They are grumpy and unhelpful. We were not happy with the food either, there was not much of it for the price and it was sad looking, just like the staff. Unpleasant place we will not be returning.

We stayed at the Glebe Hotel which was a short walk away. The pub was inviting with a roaring open fire. Quiet in the bar where we sat for dinner, there is also a restaurant but as it was a cold Feb evening it was quiet. We ordered a bread platter & olives followed by pizza, all of which was piping hot, freshly prepared & delicious. We even took half our pizza out in a box as we were too full. The staff were welcoming, friendly & happy to serve drinks at your table. Reasonably priced & tasty, we would return.

We often drink at the Rose and Crown but had never taken family there before, including a 2 year old! From the moment that the staff sorted seating out for us, the customer service was exceptional. Quick and friendly service, and the staff could not have been more helpful in helping to keep the 2 year old amused, particularly the kind man who brought smarties to the table for her (I didn't take his name, but he had his own 2 year old I believe!). The atmosphere was very welcoming, and our family were thoroughly impressed. The Guinness was very good too (appreciated by my Irish Brother-in-Law!!)

Some what disappointed in this visit,I was served a lager shandy which did not taste right, when I passed it back to the women behind the bar I was told they were having problems with water supply,so why serve this in the first place,I asked for pint of coke was given a very warm glass of 2 bottles of coke, and the way she spoke to me was not exactly great,Now the food mash potatoes sorry I don't believe that is homemade,it was like it have come from a packet and microwave, the link sausage was cooked on one side but looked raw on the other, freind had fishcake and chips 2 fishcakes and some chips, there were 4 of us we all had different things all in all not bad but not grate,2 of us had apple crumble and custard both came out Luke warm, the apple what apple it was a apple puray bitter and runny not nice.sorry but that's how it was been before and it was lovely but 6 out of 10 this time.younger staff were polite,we also had the older lady one from the bar just lean over take the plates with out asking quite rude, must have been having a bad night it was very busy but not an excuse.
