We previously would visit The Almanack often but have since moved further away so had not been for awhile. We were quite shocked how different it was from previous experiences. The food portions were small and pricey and really not great. Chewy rump at £23, peppercorn sauce £2.75 as an added extra and no veg (except a pinch of rocket). No mushroom, grilled tomato. Ordered green salad on the side £4.75 so that meal was £30.50! Would have been acceptable if the steak was delicious, juicy and tender but it wasn't. Glass of wine wine £11.60. The Alamanack used to be a thriving hub of happy diners but when we visited, there was no real ambience and it was pretty empty. Not surprising, I guess, if they are no longer providing a good experience. Really quite saddening such a great place reduced to what seems to be the waiting room to closure. It is important to say that the staff were all absolutely lovely. Really disappointing....

Found this restaurant whilst driving past with work, thought that looks ok, checked on the internet and booked for Sunday lunch. Had a lovely 3 course meal and had not 1 thing negative to say about it. When again the following but this time opted for the menu rather than Sunday lunch. Again a lovely meal and nothing negative to say. The staff are friendly and professional, and a shout out to Lilia, only been once before and she remembered us and also remembered that I asked for no peas, that to me shows her quality as I’m sure she had served 100’s of customers over the previous week.

I have eaten at The Almanack many times with my parents and grandfather and it has always been a pleasant experience. I love how the restaurant is dog friendly and always has a great atmosphere. However, my visit today was beyond words. We had the most incredible server, Gianluca, they were the most the animated, enthusiastic, genuine and funny person I have ever met working in a restaurant. Every time they came over, we were in absolute histerics with their charisma skills and witty comments. They were also incredible ag their job, when a side dish was forgotten they were so apologetic and used comedy to make up for it which did just the thing! We even had a lengthy coversation in intervals about college and our interests! It was the most amazing evening with, as always, great food and drinks. This server needs a raise or promotion!!!!

We had a lovely afternoon in the Private Dining Room at The Almanack for my daughter's Baby Shower. There were 14 of us and we were allowed to take our own decorations to personalise the room. The staff were attentive, friendly, welcoming and helpful and the food was very good. The room needs to be booked and I would recommend doing this directly with the pub rather than through guest services. A food pre order was required for this number of people. All three Managers/Deputy Managers were very helpful in the lead up to the event and responded to queries very quickly. The staff on the day could not do enough to help us. Thank you everyone for making us feel so welcome.

This was the first time I had visited this establishment - in fact I never knew it existed. The reason I was there was for a funeral wake. The surroundings were pleasant and the staff friendly. However I was not too keen on the food. It was perfectly edible but not to my taste so I would only visit again for a similar event as this time. I certainly wouldn't choose it as a place for lunch, etc.

Truly excellent food. However, several items on the menu were not available, which made it difficult for those on restricted diets. Some items in a dish were omitted or changed without explanation. Took three attempts to get the bill correct (and even then it wasn't right), which left a bit of a bad taste. Yet despite this, the food was really tasty.

Very disappointed in this restaurant. Booked it two months ago for a family birthday, but when we arrived there was no table ready and we had to wait while a waiter hastily pushed tables together. Cutlery was thrown on the table and we waited a long time for every part of the service. We had three young children with us and it was early evening, so before the busy period. Food was fine, but basic items were not available e g prawns and ciabatta (there was an open Waitrose only about 5 minutes walk away). Not to the standard we expected for a highly competitive area. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

We booked a table of 15 for a Saturday afternoon/evening for my daughter's birthday, after another venue had let us down the day before. I was really pleased they had space as we booked it with just over 24hrs notice and was told they may not have everything on the menu as it was a large booking with late notice. Well the only thing they didn't have was peas, so I think we can let them off! We often find when eating out with a large number of people, at least one person in our party has a bad experience with their food, but not this time. The food was great, came out super quick, was hot and everyone enjoyed their meal. We got there to discover we had the private room at the back of the restaurant which was brilliant. The service was great and we didn't feel as if we were forgotten about when the main restaurant got busy. We often go to the almanack for breakfast and have never had a bad experience but it will now be our first choice with family parties for the future. Thank you to the Almanack for saving our day and giving everyone a great experience.

Worst pub ever. Think I’d get better service in hell! 10 minutes to be seated for our booking. Rude waiters ignored us while we waited. We were told to continue to wait while a male manager typed an order into the til, seating us would’ve taken 20 seconds but instead he made us wait. He eventually pointed to the table, didn’t seat us or give us menus. After 5 mins we went to get our own menus. We then continued to wait until I eventually got up and asked for service and eventually we could make a drinks order, 23 minutes after our booking time. Food was poor, inflated prices for little food. We then had to wait 15 mins to pay for the bill which was a rip off anyway. Will never return

We decided to break a 5 hour journey from the North to Southampton for a long weekend break with a night stop in Kenilworth. Unfortunately a puncture on the M1 didn’t get it off to a great start. However, the service and quality of food we enjoyed more than made up for it! Having spent my career in hospitality I’m often left underwhelmed! From arriving at the bar to saying good night we were made to feel so welcome. I need to mention George has a natural grasp on what we call ‘hospitality soft skills’. These skills are all too rare and can’t be taught only developed. It’s the little things that make the difference, pleasant engaging conversation, genuine desire to create a great experience and maintaining a positive attitude. Having grown up in Coventry, seeing Aubrey Allen butchers proudly promoted on the menu brought back many happy memories. Great to see Peach Pubs embracing local businesses. Thank you to George, Jordan and Peach Pubs you give us hope for the hospitality industry!

It’s a nice place for a drink, but I wouldn’t really recommend it if you’re looking for a restaurant to enjoy a good meal. It’s quite noisy, and the food is of average quality. The lady who served us was friendly, but overall the service would benefit from some improvement. It’s often difficult to get a drink (struggling to get the attention of a waiter, and then it takes ages to receive the drink) and both main meal and desert were served without cutlery. All in all, a decent place for sure, go and have a drink, but for dinner I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Went here for lunch and ordered the "Fish Goujon Brioche" sandwich which cost £9.50 for effectively maybe 2 to 3 fish finger size pieces inside of a brioche bun and with some tartare sauce as well. This came with only a rocket salad with no (noticeable) dressing and that was all it came with by default, for nearly £10 - was a similar size and tasted pretty similar to a filet of fish from McDonald's, although I guess the fish is higher quality from here. To get chips was an extra £3.50, and it tasted okay overall. The actual place is inviting, clean and has friendly staff, but I feel the price is too steep, the main lunch menu averaged around £18-£19 per main dish which I'd say is quite pricey, even for Kenilworth.

When we said we wanted toast they merely put the slice of bread and butter in the toaster so we ended up with a slice of hardly browned almost fried bread. No effort involved and even when we complained no one got back to us. One small pot of tea was served for the two of us. We asked for another pot but by the time it got to us it was cold. I don't mind paying £16 for a full English and a tea, however I do expect it to be quite substantial and well executed, and this was neither. A sausage that was half the size I would expect anywhere. A very small portion of baked beans. Tiny pieces of black pudding and both eggs overcooked. The others in my party didn't fare well either - missing items from two of the meals and stacks of pancakes that I am not sure could accurately be described as stacks. The fact that we had to have a snack when we got home says a lot. If you ou are going to be portion conscious, you have to make it perfect and the significant competition in Kenilworth means we won't be returning any time soon. £66? Not worth it.

I used to live in Kenilworth some years ago and thought this would be a good place to pop in on Sunday morning for breakfast, their idea of a gluten-free breakfast is to just exclude all the things with gluten in no alternatives provided. My partner ordered pancakes, which were cold, it took 15 minutes for them to deliver coffee, the breakfast was worse than a hotel buffet. The Almanac used to be an outstanding place to eat and drink. It has gone downhill badly.

Went here on a Friday morning, my partner got the smashed avocado with poached eggs on sour dough toast, my son got the childrens pancakes with syrup and I got the eggs benedict. The food was delicious and we could not fault the quality of the food or the portian sizes. The restaurant provides a clean spacious environment with a pleasant ambience, to go with the excellent service from Amy C who made us feel at ease with how polite and nice she was. We travelled from Liverpool to visit the area and would not hesitate to go back to this place.

We came here on Saturday night, at 5pm, it was really busy, especially as there were some heavy downpours, and people were sheltering from the rain. The team were great and managed to fit us in for food, even though were were a party of 5, and they very kindly gave us a table that was good for my grandma whose mobility is limited. I had the chicken schnitzel, which was tasty. I had a mocktail (as was driving) which was made from passionfruit, almond and lime - that too was very nice. We didn’t have deserts as we were all full from our mains.

seems to have become a meeting place for family or friend or couple meals. been three times and will be back. to me, it's not spectacular in any way. it does what it's supposed to do with minimum fuss. always feel comfortable in there. have had vegetarian dishes, roast dinners, pie and mash. i do think it's not cheap. i also think the portions could be slightly larger. that's just me. similar priced eateries in the area are the same. i will be returning once again to the Alamanack and again so it must be doing something right. see you again soon.

I have visited the Almanack many times, And it is has always been very hit and miss Sometimes the food is good, other times not so good, Probably down to the chef Atmosphere has always been good, If they got the food good, they would smash it Usually long wait for breakfast And also the chef does not give enough food, Or portion size. If its too busy in there, food quality drops, and expect long wait Atmosphere 6/10 Seating and space 6/10 Staff 4/10 depending which day it is Food 3/10 Nice surroundings Breakfast 4/10 - Coffee - 4.4/10 Lunch 4/10 Nice place, But needs to try harder

A terrible father's day I am afraid After having a phone call a week ago from the restaurant to confirm my booking I thought I was set I had been told I had a restaurant table having booked far in advance and a high chair. I arrived they told me no, I was out front on the bar.... After waiting a table was cleared the waiting staff are amazing, really really good the wait on food was very very slow it was hours we had to keep chasing for the mains and in the end had desert at Macdonalds. It cost 120 drinks for two one kids meal two starters two roasts. I really really love this place usually and the table staff today were so so lovely honestly the best, the kitchen was just extremely slow to the point of bad and the manager seemed to walk around happy with no idea on the delays... A few bad reviews already I see a shame as special days can't be got back 😞 and ...where is the gift they promised in info everywhere including the ladies loos even today... No gift for dads we just headed Macdonalds for pudding
