Great Sunday roast, quick and efficient service, well worth the money!

Excellent vegetarian food and service, first time at the pub and definitely will be returning soon. Outside garden area was lovely.

Me and my wife came into the anchor at around 8 o’clock friday night and were greeted with nothing but warm welcomes, we were promptly sat, there was a vibrant feeling around no tension, a clear respect between patron and server, we had the piri piri burger which was a generous portion and the lasagne was spectacular would highly recommend and defiantly will be going again

Visited The Anchor in Leek Wootton at lunchtime with friends and chose the vegan option of roasted vegetables with new potatoes, pesto and balsamic glaze. The meal was completely underwhelming and consisted of a fried chopped red pepper and onion with a few new potatoes on the side. There was no pesto and a tiny drizzle of balsamic glaze. Surely at this time of year it could have included, courgette, mushrooms, aubergine, garlic and some sort of herbs but it was bland and uninteresting. I’m shocked by the complete lack of thought and left feeling ripped off. Not sure how they have the cheek to charge £14 for a chopped pepper and onion. Won’t be visiting again nor would I recommend.

Polite staff, quick service. The only thing that lets them down is the food is hit or miss. The Fisherman's Basket was disappointing (all seafood was battered and a third of the basket was chips) but the Ploughman's Platter was better than expected (generous amounts of everything).

79th birthday meal for a person with health issues , a bit of an issue to stop near entrance to avoid to much walking. can not say anything negative about the food, service or staff attention or attitude. i personally don’t like deep fried food , so to find a basic ploughman’s main was a real treat, to actually find a coffee that is not dark water without taste was a treat. will be back to try Sundays lunch.

A fantastic pub hidden in a beautiful Warwickshire village; the staff, chef and owner are all fantastic. Food is exquisite. Do pay them a visit!

Great service and larger meal than expected, a great surprise 😮

Regularly eat at the anchor and the food is always great. It’s one of those places you can always rely on a good meal. Staff are always great too. Very helpful and pleasant….. I do have an issue though. The place needs a good cleaning and regularly. The sills and ledges are filthy. Doors, plug sockets, skirtings all the nooks need a really good dusting and polish. Bathrooms too are grim. The women’s loos were particularly awful. Broken old loo seat, not at all clean and again ledges, surfaces and floor really dirty. Terrible shame to fall down on the cleaning when everything else is so good.

Nice food for the family and dogs in the beer garden on a lovely Sunday afternoon. Meals were tasty and good portions. Service was quick.

We have been coming to the Anchor for thirty years or more but for no particular reason hadn't been back for a while. Booked a table for 4 at 5.30 last Monday as we had 6 year old granddaughter staying with us. Welcomed warmly by Sean and we shared some memories of years and people gone by. Picked up swiftly by his young team we were served with drinks quickly and the food followed in much the same manner. Good food, good menu choices all well prepared and the prices are so reasonable. "Proper chips" was one comment from the party - the overall experience was spot on and again the service matched the quality of the food - highly recommended.

Just had Sunday roast and left still feeling hungry. A small plate and not much food. Only ONE new potato and 3 halves of roast potatoes. A very small slice of stuffing and one slice of turkey. Food looked good on the plate but they forgot to feed me. I’m not a massive eater but definitely felt like I could have ate it again! Poor value for money.

We booked a table for my Dad’s 88th birthday and we had a fantastic time. The service was fantastic, the food was faultless and we couldn’t have asked for a better venue to celebrate with Dad. Parking was great and the added bonus for us is that they’re super dog friendly. Sean has made a brilliant success of the Anchor and we will definitely be back!

The place was packed - Excellent mothering Sunday lunch, and we didn't have to do a set menu, so we felt it was good value and the roast was the best i have had for a long time with decent portion sizes

Ruined mothers day treat with poor service.. so thanks for that after spending nearly £100 with you... They made an error on our table and expected 3 people to sit on a table of 2... and then got told we could have another table but we only have an hour!! Wow what a first impression and on mothers day too. Staff kept staring and clockwatching on our table, staff severley lack basic waiter/ customer service skills banging drinks on the table, no checking back on food. And not even thanking us or saying bye! Really special experience not! Food was tasty enough but should have been for the price, 2 roast potatoes and a 1 new potato though is a bit of a joke. Atmosphere terrible, would like to mention the senior lady was polite and the chef seemed to be polite the only saving grace. When its mothers day might there be an option for flowers on the table? Might there be an option for good customer service and for the whole waitering staff to not be clockwatching. Absolutely furious, mother had to go back in to request an itemised reciept and state that I never recieved a thank you. And to top it off presenting mum with the bill when all she wanted to do was order a drink!!! Shocking!

We had table booked, but was asked to move for to smaller unsuitable table next to post in entrance of door & kitchen where plates hot drinks were all being carried over my head,,more people kept arriving ,having to stand right next to us piled along the bar, I asked my beef not to be pink & gravy to be separate jug not on food it was poured all over & meat was pink ,my partner had pork 2 small fatty slices & rock hard crackling .,we was cramped between people coming & going out kitchen talking over me whilst eating my partner being brushed against coming in & out ,the chef squeezing between tables .

What a discovery , lovely little pub in a beauty village , we had a friendly welcome and the food was great, we don't live in the area but wish we did. Even so we will return.

Food was OK nothing to rave about and the range of beers was poor as there was only 1 draught bitter for the second round.A vast improvement on last time 13 of us served very quickly with greatly improved food and a better selection of beers.

A lovely meal and prompt service. A busy midweek day in the pub yet we were never rushed . I Can recommend the fish meals and would advise reserving a table . 🍷🦐🐟.

Lovely small local pub. Food was lovely. It was a bit quiet, but we were late in.

A team dinner for 4 people. We had the 3 course menu, absolutely delicious and huge portions. The pate, steak and cheese board was my choice and I was not disappointed. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The interior was cosy and comfortable. Highly recommend booking at busy periods. Will definitely return soon.

The Anchor is a very friendly pub with good food and a great atmosphere. They accommodated our party of ten at very short notice and delivered exceptional service. Children and adults were all very happy with their dishes. The batter in the prawns and the halloumi were rated exceptional.

Food was excellent and plenty on the plate for big appetites, staff were young and it showed with lack of interaction with customers. Old pub but pleasant atmosphere. Would defernatly go again

If you don't eat meat don't bother. Only one veggie option on the menu.

We came to this small charming pub for Sunday roast and I have to say it was pretty good, I had roast lamb with potatoes and vegetables including Yorkshire pudding. I thought it was nice and would recommend.

Excellent pub with great food and real ales. Huge car park so great for walking groups. Very popular so make sure you book before you visit.

Went with friends on a Sunday evening. Obviously not a great time to go! They had run out of basics like pate, fish and chips! The lasagne was dry and over cooked, the vegetables for the lamb dinners looked like they had been just all thrown together. Service was slow as well. Definitely would never go back!

Hot humid day, but sitting outside with a breeze and a really excellent cellar-conditioned Bass makes me appreciate this place even more ...

My family arrived on Bank Holiday Monday with no booking but were quickly given a table. Service was good and quick, food was lovely and impressive portion sizes. A good price and enough choice for all available.

Met some friends here for an evening meal. It's a nice pub, with plenty of parking and a varied menu. The food was good, and portion sizes were just right. It was very busy when we went, so I'd recommend booking in advance.

Visited as part of a family birthday celebration on a Thursday night. Food was very good value and the choice and quality was excellent. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the service as repeat drinks ordered after the initial ones never arrived. This would not have been a problem but when the bill came these had not only been charged for but also several drinks which we never ordered!! It took staff an unbelievable four attempts to rectify these mistakes and also others that we noticed on closer inspection of the bill. Such as Menu prices not the same as till charges!! This is Not acceptable Anchor Inn you need to do better, as it rather spoilt what had been up to then a good evening.

Despite it being early evening on a Monday this place was full, a very good sign It’s a small pub but the atmosphere is good and the menu is very typically pub grub. We wanted fish and chips but sadly it was sold out( next table had it and it looked delicious) however we were happy with our choices of Rib Eye Steak and the Fisherman’s basket. The steak was perfectly cooked and a generous size with some great chips and peppercorn sauce. The fish basket has plaice gujons , scampi, whitebait and was also very tasty and great value Service was a little slow but they were busy so it’s acceptable Definitely will come back

Excellent good value "home cooked food enjoyed by our party. I particularly enjoyed the chicken curry which was delicious and well presented. Just mind the bill! There were four attempts to get ours correct.

Food was nice but portions are on the small side. Dessert was expensive - £6 for ice cream...

Beautiful food We’ve been going here off and on for 20 years currently it’s a fabulous pub/restaurant. The food is amazing I had the best lasagne ever my husband chose the lamb hotpot which was very good. Offers a lot of choice you don’t get in pubs these days so definitely worth a visit

But happily the lady who served us was very pleasant and cheerful. And they had apple crumble on the menu! Hubby and I went for fish and triple cooked chips. Lucky we were hungry because the portion was huge! The fish was so nice and flaky and tender. I never really saw the fuss about triple cooked chips but this one was really good! Just yummy! Hubby enjoyed his mushy peas I had perfectly cooked whole peas. The only problem was we didn’t have any more room for apple crumble! We need to have a better plan for when we come back!

I was really looking forward to coming to the Anchor for our Sunday lunch. We had eaten there awhile back and I always enjoyed the meal and the service. We were getting together as a family for the first time in awhile so I really wanted somewhere I knew would be good. Most of us had roast turkey dinners and the turkey was lovely, but the potatoes were hardly cooked and very pale and were bruised! The veg was bland and no care had gone into presentation. I was really surprised as this was not a cheap meal! . I agree with some of the other reviews in that the staff were very inexperienced and clearly had not been trained to show courteousness to the customers and if you asked them for something God forbid, they made you feel very uncomfortable. They didn’t seem happy in their jobs. There were no smiles or polite conversations. This used to be a great pub full of ambience and welcoming staff but honestly we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. A bit of staff training wouldn’t go amiss! .

The location was busy when we arrived so service was slow. We were going to order at the bar, but they said to order at the table as we were having food. We waited 30 mins to order drinks before calling them over and asking if we could get a menu ourselves. I appreciate they were busy, but no acknowledgement that they'll be with us shortly, I think if we hadn't asked, we'd have sat there for an hour. I asked for a pint of coke, which she said she could do, but only a small glass arrived. The food was very good, can't fault it. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the desserts as we ran out of time. The waiting staff just seemed inexperienced, getting bills wrong, not keeping track of who is waiting, and getting drinks wrong. I think it would have been a different experience if we'd been there when it was less busy.

We visited the anchor as a table of 13 and would highly recommend. The food was lovely and arrived quickly and all together, and the staff were super friendly and attentive.

Arrived late from the British Grand Prix and our host kindly offered to reopen the kitchen and provided 3 meals. All highly recommend. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

We both had Sophia as are Waitress, she was very kind and great service would 100% recommend to family and friends.

Nice village pub in sleepy location serving decent food. BUT, there is something very, very unwelcoming about the staff that is hard to explain other than they don’t really appreciate what you’re there for. Everything request was met with a bit of a sigh and god forbid if you asked for a grilled tomato instead of a salad with your steak. Not sure really what they are trying to achieve other than they must have a decent footfall regardless as they wouldn’t last in another location with a more demanding clientele. As for the big mouth in the corner holding court all evening, we couldn’t wait to get the bill, which was a mission in itself much the same as trying to get a second drink.

Food was good and didn’t wait too long to eat. The service deliverers could smile a bit more, which would make for more comfortable and relaxed atmosphere - especially if you’re under 65 😏.

Lovely welcoming pub with good choice of home cooked food at sensible prices. Decent choice of good beers too plus pleasant location/beer garden. Can vouch for the steak and lasagne.

A large party we’re staying at the nearby hotel and the food was awful so we contacted this pub, they booked us in no problem and it was excellent beautiful setting great food and great staff polite professional and I can recommend the seafood basket....

we went for a late Sunday Lunch, a party of 6, the food was of a good standard and nice and hot, however the service was dreadful, we had to ask for menus, it took and age to serve the main, we asked about gluten...

Midweek evening out with co-workers. The easily accommodated the six of us, Small venue with limited no alcohol choice, but that was to be expected. Of the six meals we opted for three of the battered haddock and chips, two lasagne's and one haloumi burger....

Nice stop off for a coffee on a long walk but the garden needs a bit of attention. Edit - improved recently - looks a bit better now.

Table wasn't clean. The better on the Haddock wasn't cook under the over done outer batter.

Very average experience. Food was OK but very basic. Lots of fried food, little veg and salad. £8 for a medium glass of wine. Won't be returning. I've been a little generous.

Great steak for lunch, perfectly cooked medium rare. Chips are also excellent. My girlfriend had the halumi burger, which she really enjoyed, she is quite tasty too.

2 x starters (plain packet salad with sliced salmon and six prawns) 1 x starters ( undercooked hamburger) 3 x glasses of house wine.

Called in for a drink and a bar snack but we were dreadfully disappointed. Burger in a bun was literally just what it said! No relish, lettuce or tomato etc. Fries were extra! Skin on fries but not very tasty at all. Beer and cider...
