Lovely location. Service was quick and professional. We had lovely table outside overlooking the water. Staff friendly and helpful. Particularly Noah who helped us clean up a spill with good cheer and was also helpful at the bar when ordering. This is the second time Noah has helped us when we’ve visited. So glad he and other staff like him are still working here. Service makes all the difference.

Food was in general tasty and well presented. However the medium rare steak was well done and had to be sent back and coffee was cold and also had to be sent back. This is where the staff excelled- with service recovery- apologies, adjustments to the bill and accountability- so often absent. The steak was redone- perfectly and coffee was quickly replaced. Thankyou for that. For this reason, I will return.

Haven't been to the Saxon Mill for years, but certainly was not disappointed and have booked again for father's day. Food was great, I had a roast and was full to the brim. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Fin looked after us and was a very friendly and chatty young lady. Thanks Saxon Mill.

Wide menu choice, but one dish (chosen by one in our party) was not available. Food prices fair reflecting recent increases across the sector, but I thought the wine list was pricey / high end. The venue itself is a lovely working water mill and river out back, so quite atmospheric. Lots of parking too. Finally, the staff were mostly young and enthusiastic, very friendly and helpful. Our group all felt we had had a lovely evening at the Saxon Mill.

This is a lovely and scenic place. Extremely chilled out and a great place to come especially if you have kids or larger families. The working water wheel is also a lovely feature which young kids would love. I like that they made this visible both inside and from the outside too. Staff were extremely kind, polite and accommodating which was also nice.

We went to Saxon Mills to celebrate our friend's birthday. Fantastic scenery, and excellent service (from Ella). She was very attentive.

I like the Saxon Mill but it has become extremely pricey. It is now more than £4.30 for a Pepsi drink and the food is also expensive (I had onion rings which were over £5). This means I'm less likely to come here as often, due to the prices, which is a shame. Service was good though and staff were friendly.

Charming place and stunning setting. The food always spot on. However today upon ordering at the bar the staff asked me if I wanted to keep open tab to which I agreed not knowing they would later try to overcharge me nearly £50 for someone else's drinks. It was completely out of order! Part of the receipt showed 8 hot chocolates coming up to nearly 40 quid where I ordered only two. That's just very poor. I paid for what I ordered in the end, but I would warn other customers to not use the open tab ordering because after a few you'll be paying someone else's bill.

Down from Glasgow seeing family. Popped in for lunch Fri and staff food and ambiance first class. Sam was bright bubbly and an asset to your establishment.

A great place to sit beside the water on a warm evening. We come at least once a year for a drink outside, sitting beside the water. The Saxon Mill never fails to deliver a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere with friendly service in a beautiful setting.

I had the butternut squash soup which had no taste and was served in a small shallow dish with less than 2cm of soup. Poor value for money as well as no taste! Setting beautiful but wsit for the sun to come out.... Service was slow.

Lydia served us for our 1 year engagement anniversary tonight (we came to you the night we got engaged too!) and made the whole experience LOVELY! She was kind, chatty, and extremely helpful. We really appreciated her efforts - thank you Lydia, you added to a delightful evening! The food was brill too, especially the king prawns!

Really lovely character pub and restaurant. Great selection of food and drinks, with a beautiful outdoor seating area overlooking the river.

The setting is absolutely stunning and the atmosphere has a really lovely vibe, which initially set high expectations for the experience. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the same standard, especially considering the prices. The burger was significantly overcooked, while the chips and onion rings were undercooked, and the peas on the separate meal were served stone cold. We also had to request cutlery, which ideally should have been provided without asking. To be fair, the staff were doing their best in what was clearly a very busy environment, and their effort was appreciated. However, the quality of the food was more in line with what you’d expect from a budget chain pub for half the price, which was a real shame given the potential of the place. With improvements to the kitchen consistency, this could be a fantastic spot but for now, it feels overpriced for what you actually get.

A really old working mill. Lovely location and a nice atmosphere. Good food and an excellent range of beers and wine. Efficient staff and Sean was very customer friendly.

Second & last time here. Seated quickly & drink order took only to find drinks order hadn’t gone through. Reordered drinks which turned up with starters. Wife’s starter was nice but my chicken skewers had hardly any chicken on them. Wife’s roast chicken dinner had no roasties. Staff rectified this fairly quickly. My 16oz sirloin was absolutely awful. Never seen so much fat & gristle on a sirloin steak. I also asked for medium rare but got medium. Also, the steak knife had to be swopped as it had a red stain on it & was left sitting on my steak. Poor quality & service for £105 for this. Never again

The best part being, of course, the amazing picturesque views of the river! Today we had Jack looking after us, lovely service, very attentive and happy to help. Since re opening, the whole atmosphere has changed for the better.The staff are warm friendly and polite. We were a walk in couple and David greeted us with a cheery smile and said Hello. We asked if a table was free for us and then David sorted us out with menus and a recommendation on a Rose wine. Nothing was too much trouble and David not only assisted a person on the bar who needed help on the till, he also went and picked a settee up for a customer to get the details off the bottom of it. David is a great asset and has a great personality to boot. I hope he’s there the next time we come.

Asked the waitress if breakfast was still serving, she snarled at me and said she would go find out (at 11:10am) she didn't bother asking as I had to go inside and ask someone completely different who helped. I ordered Smashed avo on toast with tomato. The tomato came out WHOLE and the avo was sliced into massive chunks not smashed what so ever. We wasted £29 on the worst breakfast Ive had in years. Will never be returning.

Came to dine hear with my parents, the food was amazing and the toffee créme brûlée was the best i’d ever had. Our server Ben was polite, quick and very welcoming even on a busy Friday evening! the atmosphere was warm, happy and had great views outside. We will definitely be coming back!

Wonderful lunch & a lovely dining room/atmosphere. We were looked after by Tyler who was very attentive & friendly. He gave us time to review the menus & didn’t rush us, which was nice considering it was busy.

We are travelling for business purpose and it was recommended by a colleague from Warwick. Such a nice place, well decorated. Dish was little spicy from a french perspective, but very good, and appreciated the Valrhona chocolate !! Servers are warm and attentive. Thank you, we had a really good time

My wife and I came for a special wedding anniversary meal. The food, cooked by Josh and Alex, was absolutely beautifully presented and tasted amazing - honestly the best meal we’ve had in a long time. Thank you Hermaine for all the little extras you gave us - very appreciated!

It was a warm busy Saturday when we went for a pre booked meal. The refit has been very nicely done. The service was slow especially as the section we were sat in wasn’t very busy. The lady was quite miserable, not rude, but not welcoming. Made me feel that she wished she was somewhere else (to be fair she probably did). When the food came my ribeye which I’d requested to be cooked medium was very much a rare steak. Thankfully I don’t mind it that way and it tasted flavoursome so because I didn’t want to wait whilst they re cooked another one I ate it. My siblings enjoyed their meals and specific requests were met just not with a smile. I would return however and the fact it was a busy sunny Saturday I can accept the slower service.

I went here on recommendation as part of my 80th birthday celebrations. However I just wish I had read the TripAdvisor reviews before I came. Fortunately I celebrated my birthday many times over a period of 11 days with various groups of Friends both in the morning and in the evening so it didn't affect me as badly as it might have done. I'll start with what's good about the place the building with a working water wheel and the setting next to the river Avon, on a lovely warm summer's day it is idyllic magical wonderful. The staff seemed pleasant and helpful as well although somewhat chaotically inefficient, so even though the food was terrible the setting was superb. We came here for a Sunday roast because I get fed up with the rather mediocre roasts there's a lot of pubs do them for about £15 so I thought well I'll pay more I should get something really good. We chose the trio of meats for two and it was the second dearest thing on the menu as the most expensive thing was Chateaubriand. What you get is a platter of meats beef sirloin roast chicken and belly pork with crackling. You get another platter with lots of vegetables on it plus at least two more containers with more vegetables so you do get a lot. So exactly what went wrong. The plates came nice and warm hot decent size I thought that's a good sign hot plates and about five minutes later the platter of meats came two thin slices of sirloin Grey in colour no sign of Pink two incinerated bits of belly pork and half a roast chicken that looked okay. I tried a bit of the chicken thigh just to check that things were hot it was hot and it was fine. Then we waited and we waited and eventually the veg started to arrive between seven or ten minutes later meanwhile the meat was going a bit cold. Anyway I put some veg on my plate and started to eat and it was stone cold even though it had only just come from the kitchen and I don't mean luke warm I mean cold like it's come out the fridge and not been heated up which is probably what happened, that particularly applied to the cauliflower cheese. Anyway I got the waiter and told him the veg was cold but instead of replacing all of the veg he just took one bowl of it and replaced it but left the rest. I got him back and said but all of the veg is cold not just that bit, oh I see well what do you want me to replace, I said all of the veg and the Yorkshire puddings as well please, this is where I made a mistake I should have told them to take the whole lot away because the meat was getting cold by now but unfortunately I didn't think correctly. So all of the veg and Yorkshires were brought out again things were hot bit the meat was by now a bit lukewarm and I start eating again. The bowl of peas kale and leeks this is almost impossible to describe it was so revolting, there was a drop of water at the bottom of the bowl with the peas floating in it and then bits of kale the leeks were cut in thin slices but were not cooked at all so if you like the flavour of raw leaks which I don't because they don't taste pleasant like a spring onion even though they are an onion it was an absolute joke and a nightmare, revolting. The cauliflower cheese was ok nothing special but hot and edible. There were some roast vegetables they were floppy not at all Pleasant. The Yorkshire puddings were ok. The roast potatoes which I think is probably the highlight of a roast dinner, apparently cooked in garlic with rosemary no flavour of garlic and no visible rosemary or flavour. They were soft on the outside not crispy but not fluffy on the inside they were rubbish they were not worth eating because if I want to stick a load of calories down my gizzard I make sure the food is tasty and I have a real thing about good roast potatoes I do them myself. I can't remember how many times I complained I was polite though, it isn't necessarily the waiters fault is it it's the people in the kitchen and the management because there was just a lack of communication generally. Next the gravy we had two lots because it came with the two lots of vegetables, one was very thin and pale Brown the other one slightly thicker and a richer Brown both were hideously salty foul vile repulsive I cannot tell you how dreadful this so-called gravy was. I wonder if it had a lot of monosodium glutamate in it because the Salty flavour was not quite like common salt. Without hesitation it was the most foul gravy I've ever had the misfortune to taste so I couldn't really enjoy the Yorkshire puddings no gravy to put on them. The belly pork with crackling the whole thing was like a rock ridiculously overcooked and such tiny pieces two little squares. The chicken thigh was fine the chicken breast was so dry and of course it was Luke warm by this time but never mind. There's no point getting cross or angry because it's spoils your day things happen you know it's life it's just unfortunate it happened to us on my 80th birthday celebrations so we only ate a bit of this meal despite the fact we were both really hungry. I said to the waiter I've finished with that I really need to talk to the manager please and he said don't worry sir we've already informed the manager he will come and talk to you. There was no argument no disagreement they accepted it was a complete and utter disaster. So you can see why it gets well over a thousand terrible reviews. Why aren't they learning from their mistakes and failures. Why isn't head office intervening. I'm a retired school teacher when schools fail they get put into special measures and a Hit Squad comes in and turns everything around. Well surely the parent company Mitchells and Butlers has some kind of Hit Squad and surely it must see it's got over a thousand terrible reviews but they're not doing anything about it which is such a shame considering the building and the beautiful setting etc. One pleasant gesture done by the management they brought me a chocolate brownie with happy birthday on it, they also waived the bill and the drinks were free so they did try but there's just something wrong with the place how it is run what the staff are doing in the kitchen I mean it's just awful. It's Fawlty Towers without the humour no Basil and no Manuel. Do visit the place on a lovely warm summer's day but I suggest just have a few drinks and then leave.

This was my 2nd visit with my best friend from Oxford. Also the 2nd time we were served by the lovely Estelle. She made us feel welcome as before and even recognised us. Great customer service. We went as a family for a birthday meal. The place was busy and had a nice atmosphere. Service was very attentive, Ella our main waitress was on hand checking we had what we needed, and lovely and personable with the group. Food and drinks were great, across our group we had cocktails, wine, soft drinks and low alcohol beers, all were great (French Martini delicious). When we finished Pete from behind the bar kindly went to the pub to reserve us a table to move to for after dinner drinks. Thank you for a lovely evening.
