Average decor, service with not much of a smile and very expensive. Wanted a ham and cheese sandwich and on the menu it was £12,50 !!! So opted for a croissant and a flat white with an extra shot. The coffee was £5.10. Exorbitant for a cafe.

Lovely cafe and friendly staff. Working in hospitality isn’t easy, especially with customers like Sophie Rayner who thinks it’s absolutely acceptable to sit in a cafe and not buying anything and even has the audacity to ask for free tap water.

Charming little spot, we only had the intention to look round the shop but we were drawn into the cafe as it looked so inviting. Most of the staff were very kind and helpful. However, when we arrived at the cafe we had a look at the cakes but decided we preferred the option of the bakery treats from the farm shop. We purchased 2 cakes and headed back to the cafe. We were then seated and we asked for plates to eat the cake and some tap water for now (we were thinking about having drinks after our cakes). This was all fine until the cafe supervisor Ella decided that because we weren’t buying anything immediately they were going to refuse us service, even though the cakes were bought from the same establishment. However, she was too cowardly to come and talk to us herself and so instead sent a poor young man who despite the situation was still very polite. The cafe was very quiet and we would’ve understood had we been holding a table when it was busy. Most tables sat uncleared and dirty for the duration of our stay. Overall we left disappointed.

Awful experience…. If they could get it wrong they did. Drinks, food, service. Considering the range of brunch options in Winchester I can only recommend that you avoid at all costs. First the drinks came out wrong… it took three attempts for the the full drinks order to arrive. Then the food… our order had been clearly forgotten and they had to be reminded. We double checked the order to make sure that was correct after the drinks debacle and they still managed to get it wrong. So 45 minutes later the food finally turns up…. Eggs are fried, we asked for poached…. Toast was brown, we’d asked white… the sausage was inedible and the bacon looked anaemic. The thimble of baked beans were a joke for the cost…. All this was served with an aggressive apology as if we were somehow unreasonable to be unhappy with the level of service. Could not be more disappointed by a once lovely establishment.

Great atmosphere, lovely staff and an overall very pleasant experience! My friend and I were greeted promptly and the young waitress served us with a smile and was so helpful throughout our time here. Our drinks came within a few minutes, our food followed shortly after and both were delightful. I ordered the avocado benedict and a cinnamon chai latte, both were fantastic! I would recommend popping in with a friend/family as a nice treat. Good value for money and will definitely be returning.

Food is lovely. Staff- seemed incredibly stressed. Perhaps management should invest in waiting staff training, as they all seemed to be pleasant young people. I was served a £4.55 slice of lemon and blueberry cake a as on the photo. When commented it was a rather poorly looking , young men response was they are all like that- raised voice. Was given a better looking slice- cake was ok, but dry and probably few days old. Most of all I felt very sorry for the staff working under such stres inducing conditions.

Terrible service. Sat waiting to be served for a prolong period, although 5 or 6 members of staff lingered in the kitchen area Food arrived before the drinks, when drinks eventually came they were incorrect. Finally remade and the strawberry milkshake was awful, very watery although not surprised as it had ice in it?! We fancied a toastie although told couldn't do the lunch menu until 12, which is fair enough but it was quiet. The breakfast menu stopped at 11.30 and they must have lost 3 or 4 customers who came in for food and staff told them they would have to wait for lunch to start at 12.. Unfriendly staff and poor service all round

Very poor service. I stood for a while and nobody came up to me. I asked if I could sit anywhere (I had booked) Once at the table my friend and I had to flag down someone to take our order after over 10mins wait. The member of staff seemed disinterested, confused and with no greeting/smile or any customer service skills at all. Once the coffee and cake arrived my friends drink was quite lukewarm but we didn’t want to have to wait for ages again. We drank and ate and left. It’s the 2nd time I have experienced this poor service here so won’t be using the cafe again. The carrot and orange cake is lovely though so would recommend taking it away and eating it at home!

In life you generally get what you pay for. This venue was quite expensive for what we ate for lunch, but it was very good quality and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We pre-booked for a party of 12 at lunchtime and the staff were very helpful when we arrived early with particular attention paid to our 4 children. The menu was limited, but what they do, they do well in terms of quality, but there is of course a price to be paid for quality food and ingredients. A special mention for the excellent ALL DAY Breakfast Bap (with apologies to the waiter who got caught out thinking it was only served at breakfast). The children's sausage roll was just a sausage roll served with ketchup - simples! Decent toilets. A great place for 4 families in 4 cars to meet up on the way to their weekend holiday venue near Winchester. The fudge sold in the shop also received rave reviews (afterwards).

The cafe is a revelation. The actual shop has so many delights. The staff are all amazing. Everyone was friendly, wanting to help and just talk about the food and all they sell. This feels like a very poorly kept secret and all who visit feel they have discovered something special. It isn't just a farmshop with a cafe attached. It is more than that. It is a place to have some quality food to eat and then quality food to buy. Perfect

Very disappointing breakfast and definitely not worth the £14! Had a full English, as did my friend. I also asked for 2 sausages for my dog (£2.50 each!!) Staff were not very friendly. Although the breakfast looked ok on the plate, the eggs were over cooked, as was the bacon. The hash browns were the cheapest you could buy and the tomato and mushroom were pretty tasteless. My dog waited patiently for his sausages which never arrived. My fiend hardly ate any of her breakfast, but the staff don’t ask why? We had to ask for the bill, as we were outside and there was no one to be seen. The charge for the sausages was still on the bill until we mentioned that we never received them. No solo tu was given!!! Won’t be going back in a hurry!!

We visited for a family lunch and the food was very disappointing. The vegetable soup was a luke warm, oily water with soggy boiled vegetables and zero flavour. It was served with dry, stale bread. The rest of our order was quite unsatisfactory. The prices for the standard of extremely basic and not particularly good food are very high. The farm shop is lovely but I’m afraid I would say avoid the cafe.

I’d booked a table online as we have already been to Cobbs Farm restaurant in Hungerford and Englefield, which were both excellent and the Quiche Lorraine choice has always excelled with plenty of filling plus plenty of salad and coleslaw !!!! Imagine my distaste when I had it presented to me 1hr 20 after our arrival, an individual quiche that was watery and texture thin, pastry soggy, it was lukewarm on the top and cold underneath pls small bit of watercress, slice of pepper ( and separate coleslaw that was ok) My friends, macaroni cheese was only just warm, which she ate, but I couldn’t eat my lunch as it really did not taste good at all. We arrived slightly early and on asking for two cappuccinos on arrival, we still waited an hour for these and that was with asking twice where were they, to be told that the barista had 10 orders to fulfil. A very polite manager in the restaurant explained that they were exceedingly short of staff, and I had suggested maybe it would’ve been better to block off some of the outside tables outside or inside to reduce the footfall & allow the orders to be completed on time. When we asked for our bill, this lady very kindly said that we didn’t have to pay as we had had such extremely bad service!!

As I said in my title - although there was a woodburning stove churning out heat with the door open, we were sitting away from the heat, so we only felt the heat when the occupants of the table nearest to the woodburner, left. The cafe felt cold and damp and the toilet was out of order so customers were requested to use the disabled toilet which had a wet floor and was generally unpleasant. However, the soup was excellent and the waiter of Asian origin was very pleasant and helpful.

This is a lovely shop and a great shopping experience. I have always enjoyed shopping here and the butchery and cafe are great. However after my last visit I was very disappointed when I got my shopping home and checked the labels, eggs which came from a farm in the north of England, why would they do this when the area is awash with local producers? Not fresh either, eggs from Aldi bought to replace them were far, far better. I also bought some lovely looking almond slices, they tasted greasy and so I checked the ingredients, less than 1% almonds in them! No butter or normal ingredients just reams of additives. I love the shop but this recent experience will make me think twice about going there again.

This is not a delicate afternoon tea to be consumed while extending one's pinkie finger. This is an afternoon tea made up of hearty sausage rolls and really fantastic quiche. I was informed that this wasn't possible but to book a table inside with the proviso that on arrival we could cancel the table and sit outisde if there was space. We arrived 10 minutes early and found a table outside, I cancelled the reservation. What lovely staff, we were made to feel very welcome. The food was lovely and the service super quick. This cafe is a popular stop for cyclists in Hampshire; if they can find space a cycle rack would be brilliant as we do struggle to park up 12 bikes! We will be back, it's easily our top choice of cycling cafe when we head south in our beautiful county of Hampshire.

Went for lunch with 2 friends , all 3 meals were very very disappointing with one having to be sent back as it was quite revolting. The member of staff - I think the person in charge - was most unhelpful . Won’t be returning or recommending this place.

Lovely friendly cafe with an original menu offering great quality food. We visited today with my son who was on a brief trip home from London. The breakfast menu offers the staples of a bacon bap and eggs on toast amongst its choices. We ate from the brunch menu. I had eggs benedict and my partner and son had the watercress scone with avocado, bacon and cheese which had a hint of chilli. Although a bit more money we felt it was good value for the standard and quality. Drinks are the same prices as most cafes. Also lovely to be able to visit a well stocked farm shop at the same time.

Disappointing food, overpriced. Most staff were friendly but for one in particular, serving and clearing my table was simply too much of an effort. Similar experiences in the past so shall not be returning any time soon.

Decent food but in the absence of a kids' menu we ordered 2x beans on toast which came to £10. I know farm shops are expensive but I also know how much a tin of beans and a loaf of bread costs. To put it into perspective I had a very good full English with tea in London for £4.80 the other day. Anyway they also ran out of sausages, despite there being a fridge full of them in the farm shop. Maybe an off day but we won't be coming back any time soon.

Rather noisy and overcrowded but the staff more than make up for that. Very overpriced in the shop. Pies at the deli look delicious but are not good as they are all pastry and no flavour.

Family meal to celebrate 40th. Wedding Anniversary. Could fault it! The food was great, the service excellent and the setting was ideal. An occasion o remember. A restaurant to recommend.

We booked Sunday lunch with my sister and brother in law, we wanted to try the Chestnut Horse with the intention to book for Christmas. The starters were lovely but not to be said for the main course, my sister and I had the roast beef, the beef was cut thickly and the whole plate full was verging on cold, my sister order extra cauliflower cheese which arrived towards the end of her meal. We ordered puddings, my sisters came first, ice cream, and ours arrived half an hour later and was not fully as we ordered. The staff were very pleasant and apologetic. Such a shame for a lovely country pub.

Absolutely horrific experience. 2hrs from order to delivery. And completely the wrong order. And the coffee was cold. Never again

Had a great evening with friends. A very good menu and the food was excellent. There was a live band (Queen bee and the trappers)which everybody enjoyed and some danced to. A really good pub.

It's my favourite coffee , and the cafe is perfectly placed for us to sit and watch the passing show.
