The Goat Inn in North Norfolk

First visit to have Sunday lunch, and certainly was a treat. Lovely setting, great menu and lovely friendly staff. The roast beef was delicious and plentiful. As I said it was our first visit but it certainly will not be our last. Thank you the Goat Inn.

Lovely food. Thoroughly recommended especially if you don’t mind the ghost. I went out to the smoking area and there was a tall slim man, maybe 70s in age. He said ‘wotcha’ and I said hello. He stood silently and motionless smiling as though he was frozen in time. Staring out into the field at the rear of the pub. I looked away to light my cigarette for a split second and when I looked up he had vanished. He couldn’t have gone into the pub without passing me or to the car park without making a sound. I was gobsmacked. I didn’t tell anyone for risk of sounding mad. I was driving so was on lime and soda before you ask. Weirdest experience of my life.

Excellent food, excellent staff service - will definitely return for another delicious meal when we visit again next year. We had dogs with us who had space to lay down whilst we were eating . A great find !

What a lovely place… great traditional pub serving a wonderful range of choices from an extensive menu, all of which were delicious. Can wholeheartedly recommend the fish and chips,seafood linguine, sea bass and the hunter’s chicken.. all piping hot and perfectly seasoned..& I’m sure when we revisit this week we’ll be saying the same about the rest of the menu that’s luring us back… The staff were all very friendly and welcoming too creating a nice relaxed atmosphere even though it was a quiet Monday evening. All drinks great and the old speckled hen was very well presented . We’re lucky…Only 3 miles up the road from our holiday cottage but if your sat nav says 20 miles it’s well worth the trip even on those narrow lanes!!

The most helpful and pleasant staff chef came to see us as one couple had allergies. Food was fantastic will definitely be back and soon!! X

Visited on Saturday lunch and the meal was excellent so we decided to book for Sunday lunch while we were there. We had the steak and stout pie on the Saturday and the Sunday lunch which my wife had beef and I had the beef and ham all of which was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even advised of the shortest journey home.

Excellent food, nice choice of beer. Only moan, rather pricey for soft drinks (£2.20 for a pint of squash) Maybe a good idea for a remote pub to encourage drivers.

Sunday lunch, last minute decision, offered seats in two areas but decided to sit with the jazz music. Very enjoyable, we had roast turkey, pork and beef, all generous portions, the only downside I prefer crispy roast potatoes and these were tasty but soft. Friendly staff and very good value (4 roast dinners and 6 drinks for just over £100!) Thank you

We've been coming here quite regularly for come while now an d it just seems to get better and better. Can't fault it. The attractive location, lovely old thatched buildings, large car park and beer garden, really friendly and efficient staff and really good food. In fact it's now one of our favourite places to eat anywhere in north Norfolk.

We had dinner here this evening and it was a great experience. The two meals we had (Ribs and Steak & Kidney Pudding) were excellent and the portion sizes huge. Great value. Friendly staff too in what is a pleasant dining environment. 10 out of ten from us. Recommended.

It's a nice looking free pub with good food. There is a nice selection of beers, too. I had an Adnam's Blackshore Stout that was very tasty.

This lovely thatched pub and restaurant is out in the countryside away from bustling roads. Very peaceful location, warm welcome, good choice on the menu and quick, efficient service. Good quality food, not stingy on portions.

We had an amazing time.We were greeted by two members of chatty, welcoming staff ( Sophie and Sam) and a scrumptious menu with a wide variety of foods for the whole family. The food came quickly after our order and tasted amazing.The portions were a very pleasant size, and I was neither under or overwhelmed. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to families,friends, and couples alike.The staff and food were utterly lovely.

We visited The Goat following a recommendation from the owner of the studio we were staying in in Buxton. We both had burgers, which were lovely and big portions! We were so impressed we went back the following night. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and efficient. We wished we were staying longer so we could try more of the menu. For big appetites, go for the steak and kidney pudding. It beat me and I'm a big lad. All this and dog friendly.

We stayed here in our campervan (very reasonable £18 including hook up and full facilities) on a Saturday night. Took advantage of the electric hookup on a cld February night. We were met by happy cheerful lady who advised us on facilities etc. we decided it was to cold and late to cook so went into the restaurant for a couple pints of Adnams which were delicious followed by seriously stacked burgers ... All delivered by yet again a smiling young waitress. Everything about the place was top notch and highly recommended by this happy camper

Have not been for a while so was looking forward to dinner today and can say we were not disappointed- we had the roast beef, meat was tender and well cooked veg, potatoes delicious and Yorkshire pudding lovely - ordered the kids portion for our 6yr who munched her way through it - perfect size and well presented (same as ours rather than an after thought). Next for dessert - what can I say we had the cheesecake and it was so good we ordered an extra two to take home!!!!! Creamy, full of flavour biscuit base spot on ! - They we’re busy it’s was Mothers Day staff were polite, helpful and accommodating- we will be back and might just order an entire cheesecake!!!

This is one of the best Norfolk pubs for food quality. price and service. The staff are charming and are always helpfull and happy. We will be back for more! Keep up the work. Just fab.

We visited The Goat Inn for an evening meal during a couple of nights stay in Skeyton. This is a really nice pub. Staff were friendly and attentive, good selection of drinks, food was also tasty. Also reasonable priced. We would certainly recommend if you are visiting the area.

The Goat hosted a group of friends for me on Saturday and did the job well and with style. Coffee at 8:30 , then they welcomed us in after a chilly day’s sport at 3pm. Then they fed and ‘watered’ us all (10) With smooth efficiency and a full menu of delicious food. Thank you all

We stopped by here on the way to a family ocasion. All four of us really enjoyed our meals. Everything was home cooked and delicious. The portion sizes were generous. They also had well kepy ale.

Really enjoyed the recent beer festival at the Goat. Helped by great weather the whole event was really well organised. There was a great selection of local beers and ciders. The food outlets were amazing for a small event like this. The atmosphere was great made even better by the live music in the garden. we'll definitely come again next year!

Second time we have been to the Goat Inn in two days. Again the food was fantastic, the service was amazing and location lovely and very relaxing.
