We had some friends visit and we wanted a brunch locally so decided to give this place a try as it was their opening day. There were quite a few people with the same idea so there was a bit of a buzz. This used to be our village grocers with a Butchers next door but then it became Truly Scrumptious selling home made cakes. But we always called it Betties Tea shop as it was owned by Betty. We were hoping for a Full English but on the first day this wasn't available so we settled for toasties and a huge Tuna sandwich. Tea and coffee. If I'M honest, a Toastie is a Toastie. You have to work hard to ruin it and a Tuna sandwich is fairly simple fare. So I reserve any comment on the food till they are a bit more established and we can see what their food is really like. However, they have tidied the place up a bit and it certainly looks better than it did. In winter it was always drafty and a bit cold. It also struggled with Wifi due to the thickness of the stone walls. Seating looked comfortable but there were no small tables to go with the settees so where do you put your coffee? Some furniture was recycled and impressive but will it stand up to use? Toilets will always be an issue in this building. The small back room looked a bit bare, not as welcoming as the main seating area? Staff were friendly and helpful, but they should be on the opening day. This place has changed hands several times so I wish the new owners well. Give this a go, if we all support it there is no reason it shouldn't be an asset to the community. Good luck.

Lovely place, lovely people and EXCELLENT food. The attention to. Detail and presentation was brilliant

I think this place has now changed it's name to Magnolia Mews but I was keen to try it out. I was passing through so decided to grab some things to take away. I had a hot drink which sadly had too much syrup in it which gave the coffee a strange taste added to the fact the coffee tasted burnt. If you are planning to visit it may be worth ensuring you dont leave it too late as by lunch the majority of cakes were sold out. The cake I had was lovely so I have no complaints about that.

Absolutely delicious lunch. We had the salmon and poached eggs on muffin with hollandaise sauce. The service was brilliant, the food fresh, piping hot and very tasty. We followed this with shortbread and flapjack which too was delicious. Best food I have had in a long time ☺️

What a lovely bonus to have such a great place on our doorstep. The service here is amazing, so friendly and helpful, even when you can see how busy and rushed off their feet they are. Nothing too much trouble. The food was excellent and the cakes fabulous. Really good value for money as well and Dog friendly. Certainly the best cafe in the village and surrounding area. Well done to the owners for running such a great business.

The Gingerbread coffee shop is small and the car parking is not very good. However, the friendly staff and good food make up for this. I go quite regularly with friends for lunch or a cup of tea and cake (sometime lunch, tea and cake as I cant resist them). Always a friendly welcome. Last time I went I had poached egg on toast, delicious piece of homemade cake and tea.

I go here regularly each week to get away from the office ,have a quiet place to do my work and have some nice food. Always friendly and good value here.

I called in today part way around a cold cycle ride.I chose the Winter Warmer beef stew with dumplings and baguette. Wow. I chose right. A good sized bowl, tasty stew and warm baguette. And the best bit, it was less than £6.Will definitely be calling in again.

Stopped for a cuppa as exploring area very nice friendly staff great service food looked fab and cakes looked delicious but only what I saw other people haveToilets were clean only gripe the outside area was in front of parked cars but definitely worth a look

Popped in today for a coffee and some lunch and was very, very impressed. The service was brilliant, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming.The coffee was amazing! Nice and hot, just how I like it. The food, I had a brie and cranberry panini, was delicious! The atmosphere was lovely and the cafe was clean and tidy. It's a small cafe but with the perfect amount of tables, not too cramped. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

Been using this place for years. I was called Truly Scrumptious but when it was taken over recently and became The Giingerbread Man the menu changed and the best they had to offer was a jacket spud. So when my mate suggested we meet there for breakfast I was a bit reluctant.However,I was pleasantly surprised. The place has had a make over and is much more contemporary loosing the olde worlde charm but making up for it with clean lines and comfortable seating. And it was warm. The old place suffered from Drafts and under performing heaters.The food too was good. I had the Full English (Large) and it came on an over sized plate so it was laid out nicely. It was well cooked without any grease or fat in sight. Hash Browns were crisp, eggs soft, sausages tasty, mushrooms a bit firm but maybe thats better than being a mush. There was a good portion of baked beans and a tomato. My only criticism is reserved for the Bacon which i think has been re heated and so it was hard rather than crisp.Tea and coffee were good and strong and we were told they would top up the pot if needed.Toast came on a separate plate but I wasn't offered a choice so i assume its only white bread and they use one of those little packets of butter wrapped individually which makes sense but doesn't look so good.In summary a great improvement and well worth a visit.

First visit today for a late brunch. Great food, hot coffee and good service in a cute setting! Definitely be back.

I have visited the Gingerbread Man on many occasions - the level of service and the quality of the food has always been excellent.

We visit weekly for lunch and always have a lovely welcome. This cafe has a good atmosphere with good food and friendly staff.

I called for lunch on the recommendation of a friend.

It's a great shame they've ruined a nice group of 18th century buildings with hideous turquoise and orange signs. However, coffee, cakes and sandwiches were delicious and we will definitely return (probably wearing sunglasses next time!)

We have visited several times since reopening under the 'gingerbread' name. We always have unfailingly good service and the coffee,cakes and sandwiches are all great. Will definitely keep coming back!

This is 5 minutes walk from our house so thought I would try it out.. the staff were wonderful and my daughter had a babychino which she loved and a sandwich in which I had the same except a coffee.. Actually good size portions and very well presented.

Very good Illy coffee and made well. Yummy really homemade cakes. Soup tasty and reasonably prices & chili jacket with salad reasonably prices. Could do with bit more chili heat even if served separately as hard to cater for all tastes. Good traditional breakfast offerings. . Could do with expanding menu a little bit now summer might be on the way. Exceptionally nice hardworking staff and nothing is too much trouble. Now a regular stop off point.
