We had a very good meal at The George at Molash; we were welcomed on arrival and shown to our table, the service was very efficient and the waitresses were professional but also friendly. They looked after us superbly. We chose our meals and these took a little time to come out but we were not worried about this as we were chatting and food was cooked freshly to order. Other tables were informed about a wait for some foods as they were cooked freshly to order. This didn’t affect us too much as we ate quite early - table was booked for 6.30pm. The pub was very clean and tidy. The portions were good - for both dinner and we had a dessert. We finished the evening with herbal teas and were shown a selection to choose from. Overall we had a very nice evening at The George, and had good food, service and atmosphere.

Absolutely horrific experience! Where to start… Booked for a family 60th birthday. Upon arrival made to feel the most un-welcomed guests, pointed to a table and told menus would arrive in a minute. The food was disgusting!! We had roasts all round, and my god I wouldn’t feed that roast to my dog. The potatoes were undercooked with loads of lumps, the yorkshires severely sloppy and undercooked, meat was fatty and gristly. When asked how our meal was, we explained in a calm manner it wasn’t great and said the reasons why. We were offered a bowl of fresh potatoes (no good on their own!) and then a plate of new yorkshires (which were again sloppy and weighed a tonne). Then to top it all off….what looked like the manager came over to the table with an attitude and literally stood in front of us - no sorry! Just “what’s wrong with it then” and “well we haven’t had any other complaints”…..sorry what??? The WORST customer service I’ve ever had. Rude, obnoxious and vile staff who clearly didn’t care about their customers. Number 1 rule in customer service is the customer is always right….well clearly not in their eyes! Will NEVER be going back. I strongly suggest you avoid.

Very disappointing overall at Sunday lunch booked at 5pm. We had one roast lamb £24 and one roast beef at £22 . The 'roast' potatoes were counted out at only 3 each..They were undercooked and one of mine was still resistant to slicing..ie not cooked at all. The meat slices were thick and the meat quality good but they could not offer well done, only rare. The other vegetables were small ..barely sufficient.. and the gravy was plated..not served in a gravy boat. Cauliflower cheese was extra..I think another £4. The lime cheescake with ginger at £9 was tasty but pricey and the ice cream with coffee at £6 was OK. The ale was fine. Being local we did not comment or create a fuss and I did not want to upset my guest. However being local to East Kent I will stick to my usual pub for Roast Sunday lunch which serves THREE courses for £24 the same price as just one plate at The George. And gravy is served in a boat and five different vegetables come with the meat including cauliflower cheese at no extra charge. So the George's meat and puddings were slightly superior but ..the poor vegetables and average service did not balance out the much higher price.

My wife and I booked lunch at 1pm on a Friday and went for the set menu. My wife had pate and I had leak and potato soup both of which were lovely. We then had beef rib with mash with horseradish and greens which was great and really nicely presented. Finally my wife had ginger sponge with clotted cream and I had apple crumble with cream. The serving size of the apple crumble was really generous and it tasted delicious, my wife felt the spong was a bit dry and I wondered if a choice of cream, custard or ice cream might have added to the experience. In summary the food was great but I felt the service was a bit slow and whilst that may suit many people it was a bit slower than we would have liked. We may well go back to the George as the food was great and it was very good value (£26 for 3 courses). We will just make sure we have a couple of hours free.

Wow. . What a jewel of a pub/ restaurant. 3 people , 7 different dishes and 9 spotless plates Beautiful homemade leek and potato soup, fantastic consistency, seasoned and served with a husk of bread, We had a venison , a lamb and a homemade steak pie, the lamb was succulent with no fat , cooked too perfection melt in the mouth , the venison was described as one of the best she'd ever had , and the home made pie had chunks of steak visible all served with seasonal veg . Desserts again 3 different choices and no-one disappointed.. my recommendation would be the lemon and egg custard , but the cheesecake and ice cream went down a treat too . . We will be back . Without a doubt

Thank you!

We came and had a delicious meal a couple of weeks ago. Very welcoming and friendly staff. All of the produce was local and seasonal. There was a board on the wall next to where we were sitting showing where all of the local produce came from which was a nice touch. It was good to know what they were supporting the local butchers and they also served Chapel Down wine. To start I had the pea soup with homemade seeded bread and a large cheese crouton. My partner had the creamy mushrooms on toast and rather than just your standard button/close cup mushrooms there were loads of different varieties of mushrooms like shiitake and oyster mushrooms. My partners steak was cooked perfectly and my chicken pie was really good. It reminded me of how my Nan used to make chicken pie with proper homemade pastry and pastry all round rather than just a pastry lid. The sticky toffee pud was great as well. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Just had Sunday lunch here with friends. We haven't been since before the first lockdown, but remembered how good it was way back then so thought we'd give it another go! Wasn't disappointed. Lovely Sunday roast - I had a small size plate of turkey, Yorkshire pudding, veggies and roasties - which was sufficient for my appetite. The food was hot and very nicely cooked. I had apple crumble and ice cream for afters. A generous portion of apple crumble. Hubby had a generous starter of whitebait and mains of lamb and said it was delicious - very tender. Staff were friendly and efficient. Didn't have to wait long for our meals and we didn't feel rushed to get the bill after we had eaten. Will definitely be going back, but won't leave it for over 3 years this time!

My wife and I have visited The George, a restaurant and bar in Molash, Kent, three times on our holidays from the US to Kent. Each time the food was excellent. The most recent time was on May 14, 2023, which was Mother's Day in the US. We had our daughter and her family with us and we wanted to celebrate our wives/mothers/grandmothers. The food was simply outstanding! Three of us got the traditional Sunday Roast, and three of us got the Shoulder of Lamb Roast. The portions were large, the food was delicious, and the service was brilliant. Our server, Olivia, recognized us from previous visits, even though it had been a year since our last visit. Olivia remembered where we were from, and that my wife had been in the tea business (now transferred to our daughter). It was like being back with friends. We even took pictures with them as we departed. The George is well worth a visit any time you are in Kent. After three weeks of holiday touring that Sunday roast was still our favorite meal!

My Husband and I, and my Brother and Sister in Law visited the George Inn on Saturday January 21st and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We ate from the Saturday set Lunch menu, which we understand changes frequently, and it's great value... 1 course £15, 2 courses £19, and 3 courses for £23.. the very generous portion sizes meant we could each only manage 2 courses ! There were 4 starters to choose from, 9 mains, and 5 desserts, so something for everyone.. The slow roast Belly Pork was superb, wonderfully tender with crunchy golden crackling. One of us has the whole roast Partridge, which was wrapped in bacon, so was moist and tender. I had the poached salmon with crushed potatoes and a creamy Dill sauce, and all 3 of these main courses came with an assortment of fresh seasonable vegetables.. My husband had the beer battered Cod with chips and peas, and the fish was moist and flaky and the batter was crisp, light and golden. To follow, 3 of us had a portion of egg custard tart, which was creamy and delicious and one of us had the Chocolate cheesecake pot, which was very rich and luxurious.. The food was all freshly cooked and we didn't mind the ( perhaps ) 40 or so minute wait at all..it was well worth it, and it gave a nice leisurely, relaxed ambience to our get together. The service was friendly and attentive and our server checked back a couple of times to make sure everything was OK. My only slight criticism was that despite an open fire, it was a bit cool in the restaurant part where we were sat, but it must be hard to keep such an old building warm, and, after all, it was only 5C outside ! We so enjoyed our meals that we will undoubtedly return for our next family meet up.

Fancying a change, we jumped in the car and the Mrs chose this restaurant going by Tripadvisors reviews. After a drive through some of the most beautiful parts of Kent there is on offer, you come across The George Inn, which is wonderfully decorated with an array of beautiful plants and gorgeous garden. On arrival, we was greeted by a team of warm and inviting ladies. Who although had to adhere to the strict social distancing measures, couldn’t have been more helpful or made us feel more welcome. Once seated, service was swift and always accompanied with a smile. Then came the best bit...THE FOOD!!Which took very little time to get to us, but was absolutely stunning, piping hot and packed with flavour. My partner had the chorizo chicken which was cooked to perfection and was served along side one of the nicest sauces, I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating, silky smooth like velvet on my tongue. I had the steak and kidney suet pudding, which once again, was fantastic, the meat melted in my mouth. Both dishes were served with expertly cooked roast potatoes with a crunchy coating and fluffy centre. And the veg, was so fresh it was as though they had picked it, from their garden as we arrived. They were more than accommodating, for our 10 month old son, whom they offered smaller versions of most of the meals on the menu and they brought over a sturdy and modern high chair for him to be seated. After our mains, we had a good socially distance chat, with the staff, while we waited on pudding. THE PUDDING...Due to the sizes of the portions you get for mains, we decided to share a sticky toffee pudding, once again staff were very accommodating, when I requested to have custard along side the ice cream. The sauce was thick dark and sticky and the sponge was to die for, along with a jug of REAL, custard that they made for us. OVERALL...If you’re in Kent and you’re looking for somewhere that has a friendly atmosphere and grade A+ food, then this is the place for you. Can’t recommend highly enough will be back

Planning to eat but wanted to try a walk in.Such a disappointing experience! When you walk in you expect a decent welcome but this was just the opposite. Offhand welcome, waited for an age for just a drink and just really unfriendly. Not sure why. Wasn't exactly busy and it felt like we were invading the local pub. Not overly busy so no excuse for poir bar service and very off putting.Menu looked om but a quick glance at what was being served did not entice us so, after a quick drink, decided to baje abd look elsewhere.Interestingly, despite asking for lunch menus, we were pretty much ignored. The George had been recommended by friends, so after just having moved to the area it was the ideal opportunity to try out our new local.Sadly, we were left disappointed.First impressions were good eg nice atmosphere and pleasant interior design. The staff were efficient enough, but were not particularly welcoming/friendly and seemed a tad flustered. Two of us had mussels as a starter and they were small and stringy, another in the group at scallops which were tasteless and lacked seasoning and the other person in our party had terrine which was fatty and tasteless. The roast dinners were all average at best with the meat being slightly overcooked as indeed were the vegetables. Again everything seemed to lack seasoning/flavour. The gravy was nice.I would not be in any rush to give it a second try even though the reviews are generally good, so maybe it was just a bad day?

Creamy mushrooms and broccoli and cheese soup starters all worked well. Three of us wanted wild rabbit - I won the draw. Very tasty and plenty of it, with crunchy roast pots. The losers? One plump partridge and one lamb casserole also perfect. Mrs J had the fish cakes which, although tasty, were somewhat small and more cake than fish.

Warm ginger and treacle pudding with cream, chocolate torte also with cream. I wouldn’t choose the tort again it was a bit dry. However I pinched a couple of spoonfuls of the pudding and it was to die for ! I’m definitely having that next time.

Came across The George list on KentLive Top 100 restaurants and wasn't disappointed with the Roast Chicken looking exactly like the picture in the review, which is always a good start! Sunday lunch time selection at 14:30pm was extensive offering various meat, fish, chicken and vegetarian dishes alongside the three traditional roasts with only the Lamb finished for the day due to a large party. Similarly, a good selection of starters and desserts utilising lots of locally sourced Kent produce including their own livestock. Service was polite, efficient and at times friendly depending on the staff member. We enjoyed the Field Mushrooms with Stilton, Roast Chicken and Roast Beef that was pink but melted in the mouth, Ginger Pudding and locally sourced Ice Cream; portion sizes are big with all vegetables cooked well. No issues with asking for Stuffing with my Beef or extra Gravy! Just over £60 for three people with a large White Wine, Wine Spritzer and fruit juice. Most main courses were between £15 - £17 offering excellent value when considering costs, quality and quantity. A nice new find courtesy of KentLife and definitely a venue we will be returning to for quality home cooked fare.

Sunday was our fourth visit and we have always enjoyed the food and friendly staff. We are always spoilt for choice with the menu and friends we have taken there have been thoroughly impressed. We will certainly be back.

Just enjoyed a fantastic meal this lunch time. On arriving the pub looked picturesque with hanging baskets in bloom and entered into welcoming well laid out pub. The service was just as friendly and we had four different dinners which were delicious and cooked so well we couldn't fault anything. One of the best meals we have ever had.

I had heard good things about this pub/restaurant and the number of certificates etc on the walls proclaiming it's excellence was inviting. Unfortunately, I found the food and service to be disappointing. I had the set menu - three courses for £14 - and the choice was reasonable. I started with the soup of the day - leek and potato on this occasion. It was OK and came with a slice of white bread and butter. For mains I chose the vegetable curry. This was probably the worst curry I have ever tasted: lumps of hard vegetables (potato, swede and carrot) in a very raw curry source accompanied by yellow, lumpy rice. I ate the rice but left most of the curry. I then had the special - a sponge pudding with (I think) lemon drizzle - sadly, it was very dry. Service was slow. There was a party of maybe 10 people in a back room and they seemed to take priority over the other diners which consisted solely of me, my companion and another couple with a small child. I was really looking forward to this meal, but much as I like to praise local pubs I'm afraid I cannot recommend this establishment. Maybe I was just unlucky on the day!

Having eaten here many times in a small/ average group we have never been dissapointed in any way with our meals, service, cost or service. On our last visit we had booked a table for 20 for my sons 30th birthday. I always view such large bookings for a small venue a challenge but the quality and portions of the food served along with service quality and speed were all excellent. All who attended (from 1 to 65 years old) enjoyed the meal and atmosphere as well as how cheerful, polite and attentive the service was. We have been again since this meal and so have some of the rest of our party (who had not been before). In addition to our personal experience, the pub is set within the Kent Downs with nearby ancient woodland and is itself also very old and helps give the venue its warm ambience. Outside there is a small garden area and parking for a number of cars. The venue has a farm which it uses for some of its produce and a number of local suppliers from local fisherman to farmers to make the most of being within the Garden of England to serve you mainy traditional award winning meals.

Us 4 all chose the set lunch menu at £12pp for 2 courses, or £14pp for 3. Not usually dessert people but couldn't resist a £2 apple crumble and custard.

Recently re-visited this quiet venue for lunch, where there is a good 'A la Carte' & Lunch Menu. It was a Tuesday and we arrived shortly after mid-day, so we did not book, but this is advisable as sometimes there are quite a few larger groups that lunch here.

We had heard the menu was good so decided to go after a dog (small well behaved Westie) walk in nearby woods. We did not get a friendly greeting and was told we could only sit in the garden. The staff were very unfriendly and my husbands cheese & red onion chutney ciabatta turned up with piccalilli instead and no apology! What a shame as we had heard good reviews about the pub and the menu was very good. Just need better staff as the young girls didn’t want to be there.

No complaints about the staff or service and were pleased to see that the menu stated where some of the food had come from, and was locally/home produced. However, the general consensus from our group was that the food was very overpriced and not that enjoyable. There was a lack of atmosphere also. Will not be visiting this pub again.

We went as a group for lunch and had the 3 course for £14 which was excellent value. The food was all very good bar the roast potatoes which didn't taste like they were fresh out of the oven. Our deserts were delicious. Unfortunately the thing that really ruined it was the staff, we had two different members of staff serving us and both of them were surly, unfriendly and snappy. They weren't professional at all, one gentleman in another group was shouted out from across the pub that his card has been declined which was very tactless. It's a shame because if it hadn't been for the service, we would have definitely returned but the service just ruined it for us.

We stopped here on the off chance they room for two hungry travellers ! They were full on a Monday lunch time but squeezed us on the end of a large table already occupied by two accommodating ladies. There is a good sized car park and a decent garden. The interior of the pub is beautiful in keeping with the age of the pub. The menu here is wide and varied. We only had one course , glad we did plenty of well cooked fayre. Excellent service from start to finish and very friendly efficient staff. The pub has Good food certificates falling off the wall, we shall return.

There was nothing on the menu for vegans just a couple of choices for vegetarians, so I had to reluctantly opt for those. However the only thing they could offer for desert was sorbet!! Not very imaginative.

Been here several times and still one of our favourites. The lunch menu changes regularly and 3 courses for £14 is a good deal. I highly rate the beer battered cod and chips. The ginger sponge with golden syrup and cream is fantastic.

As part of our starting to retrace our steps to Pubs we love from the past we chose the George at Molash nr Canterbury. Pleanty of Parking but gets very busy at this popular Pub Restaurant. The entrance doors a bit stiff then a turn into the Bar door, so not sure about or where wheel chair access would cope. Roomy Bar & Dining areas very cosy and warm atmsophere. Nice friendly greeting from the busy staff with good choice of Beers for us to enjoy. The menues ar really great now with a choice of a lunch menu at set prices for two or three courses and the general menu with such treats as all sorts or Game, including Venison. I plumped for Pheasant Cury which I have never eaten before which was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their choices and we were very happy and replete afterwards with some coffee to keep us going for the afternoon ahead. Even the Gents still has its old fashionned urinal, a great feature in any older Pub I feel. In need of a little T-L-C, but functional. Highly recomended all round Pub and we will be back.

If you want a meal of super quality I will recommend here. Try the pork belly and one of their beautiful cheesecakes. We found the staff so friendly and they always go the extra mile when asked. Lovely beer on hand and good range of wines and spirits esp gin. I will say it again I cannot recommend this establishment enough for the quality of food and friendliness of the staff. Thank you for a beautiful meal and romantic evening.

Having lived nearby for a few years and heard many positive reviews we finally went along for dinner and certainly weren't disappointed. The setting was relaxed with a crowd at the bar and a then tables of diners set slightly away in the restaurant area. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was fabulous, monkfish and leg of lamb mains cooked perfectly.

Went there expecting to get food and decent beer. NO Food. Looks like pub is up for sale with little interest. Beer was OK, but pub noisy due to football. Definitely one to avoid. Went to Eureka for a nice curry instead,

Previously visited the Tearooms when they were located outside the front of Perry Court. The food was excellent and cheese, chutney sandwiches were huge and fresh. Has to be said for the new cafe the staff are great - however the new sandwiches are appalling. Cheap supermarket, sliced bread and a smattering of grated cheese for ££. Phenomenally expensive. A huge disappointment and wouldn't return.
