Came for a quick bite before watching kids sports at the school nearby. Food was excellent particularly the vegetarian curry!! Service was outstanding, friendly, attentive, smiley and apparently they were short staffed! Well done team ‘The George’.

Once again the George delivered on a lovely Mothers Day Lunch - the pub was buzzing it was so busy and even though they were rushed off their feet the staff were attentive and patient, especially with my fussy eaters, nothing is too much trouble. Thanks so much xx

What a lovely pub, really frendly staff, who made us feel rrally welcome. We stayed overnight, and were given the Kings Suite. What a gem! Antique furniture used, and set out really nicely. Eveything had a royal touch! Lovely view over the pedestrian bridge, with Windsor Castle in the background. We had our evening meal in the pub. Great value for money, good quantity, and great taste and presentation. If we are that way again we will be booking in.

I am new to the Windsor area and was recommended this place by friends. As soon as I entered I could feel the warm, sociable atmosphere which was welcomed. I had reserved a table and was taken promptly to it by a lovely staff member called Finn, he preceded to show me the food menu and the vast drinks menu to accompany! I ordered the halloumi burger and sticky toffee pudding to finish! The food was great and filling, and the service nice and quick! All in all a lovely, welcoming pub with tasty food and a great drinks selection! Will definitely be returning, thank you :)

I’m always a little worried about booking places for a Sunday roast as I’ve been to places & ended up being disappointed. I booked the George as it’s local & I’m so glad I did book as when we arrived it was very busy. We was shown to the our table & ordered some drinks. The staff are all very friendly & helpful. I ordered the chicken & my daughter ordered the beef. The food was lovely. The meat, the vegetables & the potatoes all cooked to perfection & really tasty. If you are looking for a traditional pub with nice food & friendly staff this is the place for you. I would definitely recommend.

We were a group of 12 retired friends enjoying an afternoon of superb real ales. The bar staff were brilliant, especially the friendly hard-working unflappable Sarah. Recommend a visit if you're in the area.

This hotel was a great night out for dinner with extended family. The meal servings were large, service good and staff made the extra effort to make us feel comfortable. The close seating arrangements cramped my style and it was very hot inside because it was a warm and muggy night. My partner and I travelled all the way from Australia and it would have been good to have been placed outside in the garden where it was lovely and cool. Overall the pub was busy and had a cosy vibe but there needs to be better seating arrangements and more space for a large group of diners.

Just back from the George inn Windsor all I can say is amazing . staff we’re super friendly food in the restaurant was awesome I can’t fault them one bit the room was clean . I definitely will be booking again .

I cannot praise the George Inn enough. I stayed for 4 nights. The staff were exceptional. So helpful and friendly. The room was spotless and had extra little touches, supplying cookies and water bottles. The food was excellent.

Friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. Had a delicious roast with vegetables. The beer selection was running low, but whatever they had available hit the spot. Quiet pub atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle across the river. Could not have asked for a more relaxing and satisfying lunch on a Sunday afternoon.

Popped in as I was working down the road during the week and was very happy with the beer selection (Windsor & Eton Brewery...mostly) and the way it was served. Friendly and attentive staff whether it was food or drink, and the fact that it's a dog-friendly pub makes it even better. Would name certain staff as being outstanding, but that would be too personal... 'goodness' it would. Will be back in September!

I last reviewed this place in 2017!, , I’m still here and the food is even better if that is possible , service excellent , seriously friendly and welcoming staff , dog friendly and relaxed atmosphere , today was raining but it didn’t matter plenty of room inside , but especially lovely when the sun is out ,

Chose this as a place to stay as we were going to the Theatre Royal, Windsor. Brilliant location for that as its just round the corner. The staff were friendly and the room clean and comfortable. They do not provide breakfast but there is a wealth of cafes, bars and restaurants very nearby. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room and complimentary sparkling water. As it’s a pub they do warn that it could be noisy but that was never an issue for us. Also there are a couple of flights of steep stairs people need to be aware of. All of this is stated in their booking details. The only downside for me was the Wi-Fi that drifted in and out. Mostly out! I mentioned this to the staff who said they’d pass it on but that no one else had ever mentioned it. Overall a good stay and we’d book again if we are in the area. For those travelling by train Windsor and Eton Riverside station is a couple of minutes away. No car parking on site but there is a public car close by.

The George has a great location, just beyond the bridge separating Windsor and Eton. It has a typical British pub atmosphere inside, but also has a spacious garden with tables outside. The staff is very friendly and the food excellent.

El distanciamiento social se maneja bien, pero cuando pedimos mover las mesas, la camarera no actualizó el sistema, así que cuando nos fuimos, tuvimos que buscar nuestra mesa original. La camarera llevaba una máscara y nos dio una larga charla sobre lo doloroso que era para ella usarla. Todas las tablas tenían códigos QR, pero no las de la aplicación NHS. El único lugar donde encontré uno de esos fue en los Caballeros. Las bebidas eran caras (como es habitual en Eton) y no una muy buena selección. Sin embargo, es un pub bastante agradable.

Lovely and friendly local. Visited on the first Saturday afternoon in October. Very COVID secure and brilliant selection of ales and wines. My husband had the tasting tray of 3 ales- recommended by Sara, who was just brilliant! Thanks again.

NO HAY ESTACIONAMIENTO a pesar de que se anuncia con estacionamiento. Hay un aparcamiento público que se puede utilizar como pago y exhibición (nos costó 22 la noche). Las habitaciones eran un poco pequeñas con muebles innecesarios que bloqueaban el movimiento alrededor de la cama, pero aún así era razonable. La limpieza está bien, pero no es genial. Sin embargo, olía a humo (como si se usara como sala de fumadores) y la ventana no se abría (las ventanas corredizas seguían cerrándose). La cama era increíblemente incómoda y casi no dormía: una cama pequeña, un colchón delgado y barato y almohadas que necesitan ser reemplazadas desesperadamente. NO hay instalaciones de DESAYUNO disponibles. Me recomendaron un restaurante al otro lado de la calle, pero no nos dijeron que necesitáramos reservar y pensé que habrían llegado a un acuerdo con el restaurante para conseguir una mesa para los huéspedes del hotel. Estaba lleno y no pudimos desayunar. Tuvimos que caminar hacia Windsor para encontrar otras opciones. La televisión de la habitación era difícil de usar con menús no estándar.En general, estuvo bien, pero no cumplió mis expectativas dadas sus calificaciones de revisión. No me quedaría allí de nuevo.

Sunday lunch for family of 5. All thoroughly enjoyed tasty and well presented meals. Excellent service especially our very friendly and helpful waitress Siouna. Wonderful to see such a happy smiling face in present climate

Dropped in for a drink and finished up having something to eat, pub grub but very goo pub grub. Service was very attentive and overall felt so welcome.

I had rung up and booked a table for the same day and we arrived at 8 pm. We were seated immediately by a friendly waitress called Sara, Sara looked after us all evening and was very friendly and chatty all be it nearly at the end of her 12 hour shift.We had soup, whitebait, fish and chips and pork schnitzel. All were lovely , well presented and tasted lovely. Thank you chef Dan, we enjoyed it all.

First time taking my baby to a pub. Sara greeted us and opened the gate & welcomed us inside. She was super friendly, remembered the whole menu & specials off the top of her head. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Sara! We will be back

My friend and I popped in today with our babies to catch up, we came for a drink and a spot of lunch, the food was so good and our waitress Sara was absolutely amazing, so friendly and helpful, she went out of her way to accommodate us, because of her we will be returning again,THANK YOU SARA.

Our first trip out since COVID-19 started as have been shielding and opted for lunch at The George. Opted for a Caesar salad starter size/ pizza & a bowl of chips. Everything was delicious. We were made to feel welcome & were very impressed with all the measures in place to make the customer feel safe. Giving details about our party and using the QR code to look at the menu was straightforward and easy. Table service was timely & everyone so friendly. We’ll go back as we were so impressed and had a great time.

Booked a table for 1pm on a quiet Thursday lunchtime. When we arrived waitress didn’t give us menus even though other tables had them. I had to go to the bar to ask for them where I was told to scan the QR code for e-menus (no problem as this is more Covid friendly) however e-menu doesn’t tell you which dishes were unavailable and my husband had to change his choice last minute. Other customers had paper menus which indicated which dishes were unavailable. Waitress took 10/15 minutes to take our drink order. They took another 10 minutes to come where she then said she’d be back in a minute to take our food order. The bartender had to come out to take our food order as she was the only waitress on (poor management, even a quiet Thursday lunchtime you don’t put on one staff member by themselves), although perhaps some of her delay was the fact she openly admitted to being extremely hungover!Our food arrived at 2pm an hour after we sat down with a hungry 15 month old. Despite being alone there were less than 10 tables with food as about half were only having drinks. We ordered 4 burgers, a ceasar salad and a buffalo salad.Waitress didn’t come to check our food was ok and disappeared inside for the rest of our meal meaning we had to walk up to the bar to ask for the bill in what is supposed to be a table service restaurant. A table of 4 had left at least 30 minutes before us and was still covered in dirty lunch dishes by the time we left too. I’ve had better service at a fast food restaurant and not what I expect from a restaurant in Eton with nearly 5 stars on trip advisor. Would not go back or recommend even though food was lovely. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry I know it can be difficult when management is poor. But there are very few times I don’t tip and this was one of them (silly as the tip on a nearly £100 bill would have been substantial and we are usually generous).

Lovely pub, great beer, food and service. Was charged full price on a Wednesday in August when the eat out to help out scheme was running. When later challenged the staff were very apologetic and credited the discount back to my card. Was told it was the member of staff’s first day and they had forgotten. I’m sure it’s true and not fraud, but as the pub is a high tourist spot I thought it worth mentioning in case they have any more staff who forget to apply the discount automatically.
