Booked in here for Sunday roast dinner it was absolutely scrumptious! The food portions were generous and the pub atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Keep up the good work Carla & Lee and thank you to chef Richard for a tasty treat

I had the lasagne and it was very over cooked and dry. The top layer was hard and the bottom layer burnt. The french fries were nice though

We visited the pub to have a couple of drinks this afternoon to break up the day. Unfortunately we could not get served and was being ignored by staff. Maybe they did not want new custom so have taken our business elsewhere.

Nice pub inside, but that’s where it ends. Asked for a ham and cheese omelette came over cooked with no cheese. The other omelette again came with no cheese and was burned black inedible. Chips overcooked, maybe we was unlucky but after this and other faults will never return.

What a lovely pub! Very welcoming and tastefully decorated inside. Though there was only a small menu (and no Sunday roast on offer) the food was very tasty and good portions. Was a relaxed atmosphere and very cosy with the log fire burning. 100% will return again and would recommend to anyone passing by.

Visited this pub after a long walk with my ramblers group. The welcome from staff was warm and friendly they had a lovely fire burning just what you would expect from a traditional village country pub on a cold winters day. I had the Ploughman’s and my wife had the Lasagne both were perfect and to be honest the best ploughman’s I have had in a long time. Will definitely be going back again in the future.

This place has recently changed hands (no longer Thai, but a traditional pub). We were doing the London—Canterbury pilgrimage, and arrive in Wrotham on a rainy weekday, hungry and eager for a brief rest in a warm pub. The owner was just leaving but was more than willing to stay and make sandwiches for us. She went far above and beyond in extending hospitality. It was a cute historic pub and a joy to find such a welcoming, friendly place on a wet day when we were tired and a little cold. Thank you so much!

We went for a Thai takeaway on Friday night. The spring rolls had a thick pastry like coating and were indigestable. The chicken has been pre-cooked without the sauce and tasted of nothing. The sauces had hardly any spice and the noodles were overcooked. There appeared to be a lot of MSG in the whole meal. It was horrible! Don't be duped into going there.

We visited this great pub when we stayed for the weekend in Wrotham. We went on a Friday evening which is Thai night, what a treat!! From the moment we enquired about a reservation we received such friendly service. The food was fresh and full of flavour and so reasonably priced. We were travelling with our dog and he was made welcome too with a fresh bowl of water. We highly recommend the George & Dragon to everyone, well done to the owners and staff.

22/08/20 We received a wonderful welcome from Jade & her parents for our family party of Ten, nothing was too much trouble along with the fantastic service we received. The food was of a far better quality with decent size portions than what you would expect from a normal Pub. It caters for a modern day society with old school values & add that to the great choice of beers makes the experience an educated choice.

Newly refurbished inside. Major work on the lovely, secluded walled garden as well. Friendly staff and locals, at least three beers on hand pump and in good condition. Harveys, Ghost Ship and Black Sheep on my last visit. Haven't tried the food yet but will do soon! A real asset to the village - deserves all the support it can get. Looks like good COVID procedures too - hand sanitiser on entry/contact details taken/floor markings.

We visited this pub on a very busy Sunday having visited very many times before. Firstly we were served by a very surly and rude barman ( very dark hair almost black with a beard). When I asked about the wine he was very unhelpful. I have drunk Sutter Home Zinfandel rose on many occasions and on this occasion it was very dry in taste. I questioned whether he had served the correct wine and he was very rude in his reply. Also every single table was taken apart from 2 with people eating. Surely there should be some tables for people who are just out for a Sunday lunch time drink! Will be giving this pub a wide berth in the future,

We visited this pleasant pub for lunch in the middle of a walk, in a group of ten. We were able to order the food (sandwiches and soup) over the telephone at the beginning of our walk and were served quickly when we arrived. The sandwiches were generous and the soups all home-made. There was a good selection of beers too, and a welcoming open fire. We can recommend this pub whole-heartedly to fellow Ramblers and other walkers.

Anya’s Thai is inside George & Dragon pub. It only serves up on a Thursday and Friday. The food was tasty, very authentic, fresh vegetables were to die for. Had the sharing platter for two to start £12 (bargain) it was very filling. Mains we had were both £8.75, mine was a chicken ginger dish it was lovely, my partner had a spicy chicken dish which was perfect not too hot as to spoil flavour. Two drinks cost £35 not bad for a great meal. Would go back and would recommend.

Whilst staying in the area for one night my husband wanted to visit this wonderful pub to check out if it was still as he remembered from a long time ago. What a find. The moment we walked in it hits you, the friendliness of the staff and the locals, the log fire (very welcome as it was last Saturday night and snowing), the choice of beers. The landlord offered him tasters as he was unsure which craft beer to choose. No food on a Saturday night but when a pub is as good as this who needs it.

Now the food well there was 11 walkers our orders were taken and in about 10 minutes out they came,I ordered a prawn sandwich and my wife had tuna mayonnaise sandwich, both generously filled and proper chunky bread and a bowl of chips each,This has been a lovely surprise and I will be bringing a walking group here.

Today, myself and 10 fellow cyclists stopped in for lunch. We had phoned ahead of time to serve notice that we were coming.Upon arrival our hostess unlocked the rear garden ,in order that we could safely store our bikes. Once inside, we were warmly welcomed, and our orders were efficiently taken. The food is of good quality, and all of the soups are home made, and well worth trying.Prices are extremely reasonable. The bathrooms are clean and well kept.Bottomline, very well worth a visit, and I look forward to returning.

A friend and I only discovered the George & Dragon a month or so ago, despite it being reasonably close to home. We are now wishing we’d come across it sooner because it has quickly become a firm favourite and we are already ‘regulars’ at the pub. It is genuinely traditional, warm and welcoming. That goes for the customers and not just the landlord and staff. The establishment takes great care in the selection and keeping of its real ales – Harvey’s Sussex, plus around three guest beers - and serves traditional pub food Monday to Wednesday, roast lunches on Sunday and Thai food on Thursday and Friday. So far we’ve only sampled the Thai cuisine and can fully recommend it. Both food and drink are reasonably priced. As mentioned earlier, we are only sorry the George & Dragon was unknown to us until quite recently, but at least we’ve now discovered it, and into the bargain, promptly achieved ‘regular’ status.

A group of 9 cyclists called in for lunch. The landlady, opened the rear garden for us, and made sure that our bikes were in a locked area ( very considerate)The orders were taken efficiently, and several orders were not actually on the menu, but the chef managed to conjure them up anyways.Again, different and appreciated. The pub, has charm and character. Its not too big, but is "warm". The bathrooms are kept nice and clean.Prices are about average.Would I go back ? Most certainly yes.

Firstly I should make it clear that this review and rating is as a pub as we only went in for a couple of drinks, so I cannot comment on the food aspect. As soon as we went in I got the impression of a ‘proper’ pub. The bar is clean and comfortable in traditional pub style, and although it must have been refurbished over the years it has not been ‘tarted up’ or the ambience spoiled. The landlord was smart, attentive and obviously knew his customers, and there was a great range of beers on tap (when we visited there was five real ales from different breweries – Harvey’s, Gales, Wychwood, Young’s and Adnams). It has a good local clientele and I can see why, as if I lived in the village this would be my local too. There is a dining room adjacent to the main bar, but although we didn’t see a menu it did not seem to be a pub that majors on food, as the food on offer appears to be limited to traditional pub food over lunchtime Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and a traditional English roast at lunchtime on Sunday. However, on Thursday and Friday the dining area is turned over to Thai food and called Anya’s (presumably a Thai caterer that provides this under licence for two days a week) at lunchtime and evening, which is an enterprising feature. It also has a large and attractive garden for summer evenings, and was definitely my sort of pub.

Disappointing. Starters were ok. Steak was full of sinew and tough. Chicken ok but with heavy over-rich sauce. Pork Loin almost inedible. Service was slow, one waitress didn’t know what black pepper was! We had to remind them about our second drinks order. At the end we were charged for 2 extras at £1 each. We didn’t query it but have no idea why we were charged. We will definitely not be returning.

We booked for a family afternoon tea, for around 50 people. We had plates of sandwiches and cakes, really lovely quality bread used and fillings were really nice. The coffee and tea were served in lovely cups and saucers with lovely tiered cake stands. The service was amazing, the servers polite and attentive. We are really grateful to Natalie the catering manager for such a lovely spread, so accommodating. The table cloths were beautiful, white laundered and the Pilgrims Hall itself is really lovely. If you are thinking of a place to hold a celebration do enquire, it was really good value for money and everyone commented on the quality of the food and drinks. My thanks to Kirsty for organising and being great at staying in touch to arrange the details. Plenty of parking and lovely walks around the Priory to walk off the lovely cakes. ❤️
