Popped in to this village pub for a drink after visiting a local land mark. I felt welcome and the pub had a nice atmosphere. They were serving food including Sunday roast, there was a separate dining area. The pub has an oldy worldy feel with lots of bits and bobs on display. There is a large outside area with plenty of seating. Parking is limited but it's possible to park in nearby roads without too much problem.

My wife and I had Sunday Lunch at The Blue Anchor in St. Mary’s Platt and it was fantastic. Charming service, quick ordering and cooking and a pleasant old fashioned ambience. Like pubs should be. The roast beef dinner was exceptionally good. Fair price for everything, though nothing is cheap these days, it was worth every penny.

Our friend recommended coming to this place (because they enjoyed it) & said for us to have the sharing platter (as it was very yummy & freshly made). Me & my fiancé both thought it was a lovely place with a nice big back garden, the service was great & friendly & we really enjoyed our meal… it was delicious & it certainly filled us up & it was worth the total price £38 that was including 2 alcoholic drinks. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you x

Food was okay but a bit over priced. Two roast potatoes only on the roast! Genuinely the worst poured Guinness I have ever has which is really ironic seeing as the entire staff were wearing Guinness branded uniform

Went for dinner last night, booked a table of four in the restaurant. The food was excellent. Everything seemed fresh and well cooked. Everything was clean and the staff were professional and friendly. The menu was excellent with something for everyone, burgers, fish, an excellent health power salad I think it was called, steaks and lots of sides to choose from. Will definitely go again. Really enjoyed it.

We booked The Blue Anchor to celebrate a 70th birthday. It was a fabulous afternoon, fabulous food, and fabulous staff. We were so well looked after and they made us all so welcome and did everything possible to make it a fabulous birthday celebration. As we were a party of 15 we had exclusive use of the restaurant, which the landlady had spent considerable time on decorating with balloons and banners to make a fabulous venue. She even gave the birthday person a lovely bunch of yellow tulips as we departed. There is easy free parking at rear of pub.

Fantastic food and big portions! Lovely atmosphere in a real pub. Excellent pints of Guinness too!! I recommend the mixed grill as the best I've had.

Our family Sunday lunch was excellent. We had the choice of 4 roast dinners -- and portion sizes were amazing. There were vegan/vegetarian options available to cater for all! The staff were friendly and really helpful. Would definitely recommend and we will return. Thank you.

A traditional local pub with welcoming staff and good food. In addition to the ‘normal’ menu there is a ‘specials’ board and also a separate ‘pie menu’. We were spoilt for choice. The beef and ale pie came with mash, vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and cabbage) and extra gravy. All piping hot and freshly prepared. Portions were a good size (which meant I didn’t have room to try the puds). I will be returning to try the Sunday Roasts as well as the cheesecake!

Was recommended this pub for a Santa Claus visit for my children by my next door neighbour, his daughter owns the pub. I have to say they were incredibly accommodating, Santa was magical, the children had the best time, the food was absolutely incredible (portion sizes are very big) we had a really lovely time and will 1000% be returning.

Our local let us down so we took a chance there would be room for us. We received a warm welcome and a choice of eating in a crowded noisy bar or empty restaurant. The restaurant was quieter. We ordered starters and a main course each. Portion sizes proved to be beyond our capacity to consume. Food arrived on warm plates (bliss) and was well cooked. Our five a day were in evidence. With hindsight we shouldn’t have ordered the starters as we couldn’t finish the meal, but we did enjoy it immensely. We will be going back - no starters next time.

Wow, food here is amazing and what a lovely welcome we received. The Pub/ Restaurant has a nice character about it. We had choice of sitting in bar area or in restaurant. We chose to sit in restaurant. We had not booked, just turned up and there was plenty of room. We arrived about 7.45pm and had a really nice, leisurely supper leaving at 9.45pm. I had burger with blue stilton and salad. Wife had duck rolls with salad and hoisin sauce. Both were very tasty and nicely cooked.

A friendly establishment with a great atmosphere. We sat in the garden for a drink and really enjoyed our surroundings. We will definitely be back for more and next time we will try the food.

Birthday Sunday afternoon, very busy when we arrived but no problem got some drinks and sat outside till everyone turned up , good selection of beers and lagers in my opinion, we all then sat down in the pub and the fun began, all the food turned up nice and hot and plenty on the plate everyone enjoyed the food and service was great, and for me the best prawn cocktail I’ve ever had , definitely worth a visit and we will definitely be going back again…..

We had heard that the food was very good. So with few pubs were open tonight so went walked the 100 yards down the lane. After we had ordered we were told it would be 30 minutes. After one and a quarter hours we got up, paid for our drinks and left. Another couple were waiting even longer. This was appalling. So disappointing. And yet this pub keeps going. Why?

Lovely old pub, really friendly staff and a large garden. This place is great. Good ale (Timothy Taylor) on tap, lovely homely style food and staff that go out of their way to help you. Do not be put off by the current road"works" that say "road closed" as you get to it...we just drove around those. The King Prawn cocktail was generous and I had ham, egg, chips..with proper ham. We will be back, even though we live 45 miles away. Recommended.

Brilliant pub, proper local, with good choice of well-kept beer and great English fayre, all looked after by the brilliant Michelle and Hannah. Fab garden too with kids area. Well worth the few minutes drive from the M20 M26 Wrotham junction.

I almost don't want to tell everyone how good this place is in case it gets hard to book lol. When they say the food is homemade they mean it and omg its so good. I had the goats cheese and onion tart with marmalade main with new potatoes and salad and it was absolutely lovely. My husband had the chicken, brie and cranberry pie and his ear to ear grin said it all. As a vegetarian I was surprised at the choice and also good to see gluton free options. The specials board was almost as long as the regular menu so there's a lot more than you see on the Facebook page. I can also recommend the crumble which was amazingly light and so tasty - apple, pear and strawberry a combo I've not had before but I'd go back just for that. The pub is a very friendly place with very nice staff that are so helpful. The portion sizes are very large and the prices are very reasonable.

Today I had a lovely huge cod and chips and the lady who served me was lovely, thankyou.

The food was excellently cooked, we had a selection of meals due to grandsons 22 birthday. Ages ranged from 21 to 71 and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. We had soup excellent, mixed fish selection another excellent. Mains we had pie, belly pork, scampi, did not have room for pudding although they bought out a surprise little pudding with a candle for the birthday boy which was a lovely touch.

First time here food and service was excellent we had steak fish and curry all was first class staff was very friendly great atmosphere and setting can’t wait to return Thank you for a wonderful evening John

Freinds birthday meal. Excellent food and service.

A local pub run by very welcoming and friendly people. I had an excellent roast, complemented by a morish crumble as dessert. Also excellent selection of real ales on draft!

A very lively establishment. The staff are very efficient and polite. Parking could be a problem and walking through all the smokers hanging around the entrance is not nice. Also children trying there parents alcoholic drinks and being rather loud.

Great place in the country, small and personal 👌. Food was great. Staff are really friendly. Car park is at the rear, just in case you think parking is out the front. All in all. Fantastic!!

I have fond memories of drinking here with my brother and Dad having grown up in the area and always thought of it as a good local boozer. The restaurant at the back of the pub is light and comfortable, overlooking a wooden decking area and orchard garden while the inside of the pub is cosy with open fires. I had a lunchtime meal here and was surprised at such a varied and inspired menu and the chef was more than willing to adapt any meal to be gluten free for my coeliac Mother. The food was delicious and of an incredibly high standard and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I would absolutely eat here again without a doubt.

I had a meal with my Family last Saturday evening and all I can say is BRILLIANT! I little gem of a village pub that should be supported more by the locals. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and food was top class. We all had different dishes and the whole family we very impressed with the whole experience! Took grandchildren there last Tuesday for some lunch, none of the pubs in Wrotham were serving food, we had been to the park there and I was trying to extend the treat. Glad I remembered the Blue Anchor, nice food, very reasonably priced, staff so friendly and welcoming and lovely garden the children played in until the rain overtook us. Excellent lunch.

Great food and friendly staff and manager, with huge garden. I asked how long the food would be as I had to leave by a certain time. "15 mins" turned into half an hour. If I hadn't already paid I would have walked out. (I missed my appointment due to misinformation)

Excellent roast dinner and yummy pudding

Biased as it's our local but we're always made to feel welcome despite our excitable dog and annoying toddler!

Disappointed! After telephoning to book a early evening meal for last Wednesday, and bring told over the phone that they were using the gov meal deal 50% off promotion, we set off excitedly. Upon arriving and finding a table, I visited the bar to pick up the menus. We chose our meals then I went back to the bar to order our meals and drinks. We were charged full price! Unknown to us there was little black dots on the menu showing which meals were in the promotion. It would've been nice to have been told this when I telephoned to book, and again when I was given the menu at the bar. The black dots on the menu had no key to show what they were. Everyone we've spoken to since have said it should have been everything on the menu! Very sly on their part we thought. The meal was nice enough but hardly the point having to pay full price, when they will probably be reimbursed by the government too.
