The King & Queen in Tonbridge and Malling

Visited for a family birthday. Lives locally for year but never visited for some reason. Great choice on the menu. If you like pudding this is the place to go. We ate too much this time but will know for next time. Staff amazing and really attentive. Looking forward to my next visit already

The King and Queen is always a great place to go to meet up with friends for a few drinks, or even after a dog walk and it’s also perfect for a sunday roast. Wayne is always the perfect host and the rest of the team makes everyone welcome including our four legged friends. Looking forward to some more live music events and a great atmosphere.

Had a fantastic midweek visit, ordered some of the loaded fries which went down very well. Wayne was amazing with his service. A great visit.

We stayed overnight in one of the four letting rooms at the rear of the King and Queen, and would definitely use it again as a stopover on the way down or back from the channel ports. Very reasonably priced, considering a buffet breakfast was left in the room for the morning, with the added benefit of being able to get an evening meal and drink if you want one.

Good size room, everything clean & plenty of snacks etc. in the room.

I wouldn’t normally bother leaving a review, but this was so bad I couldn’t help myself. Firstly they got the time of my booking wrong so we had to sit on a different table 2) the menu was so limited because apparently they are so busy on a Sunday they can’t serve everyone- not even half full today. 3) the food was dire. The roast lamb was undercooked and so fatty that it was inedible. The mixed grill had the tiniest, toughest bit of steak that wasn’t fit for consumption, one tiny bit of chicken and the liver was like leather. The worst thing is we barely finished half of our meals and they didn’t even think to ask if the meal was ok- totally oblivious. Avoid this place like the plague, I have no idea how it has a rating above 4

Just a quick cold drink, nothing special to report

We had a fabulously cosy, clean and quiet room - this was a really good value stay! A full continental breakfast (including apples, yoghurts, cereals, milk, orange juice, nutrigrain bars, porridge pots etc…) was left in the fridge in our room for the morning.

The prices are getting very high for standard pub food.

THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD. THE SERVICE WAS PROMPT AND FRIENDLY. EVERYTHING INCLUDING THR TOILETS WAS VERY CLEAN.

Wonderful little pub, very friendly manager who showed us to and around our rooms, very clean room and plenty to choose from for the free breakfast in the room. Cosy little pub and great and friendly service there. Only suggestion (and this is no complaint) is maybe include a pot noodle or two in the room (chicken and mushroom/beef and tomato 😁) Thanks for the lovely stay!

I’ve been frequenting this pub, sporadically, for well over a decade now, and it makes for an excellent stop-off/break when driving to and from coastal Kent. Excellent location - lovely pub - both inside and outside (great exterior area), with decent parking. Very nice light lunches - BLT sandwich with salad and fries, and one with Fish Fingers - both excellent. Enjoyable lunch with decent service.

Just wanted to thank all the staff at the King and Queen for my husband’s 70th birthday party yesterday afternoon/evening. We had 17 adults and 9 grandchildren in the garden room. Everything went to plan all the meals were well received and enjoyed. The staff worked very hard to make our afternoon very enjoyable. Thank you very much from the Moore party

Very pleasant dinner here a couple of saturdays ago with my husband. Lovely pub, lovely grub and staff very helpful and friendly.

Die Anreise war absolut problemlos und angenehm. Es gibt nur 3 Zimmer, welche in einem Nebengebäude des pubs sind. Das Zimmer war sauber und ordentlich, es wurde an alles gedacht, außer leider einen Föhn. Sie hatten jedoch ein kostenloses Frühstück im Zimmer, welches aus Porridge, Müsli, Obst, Kaffee, Tee und Müsliriegel bestand. Das Bett war sehr bequem und die Zimmertemperatur perfekt, nachts konnte man alle Fenster öffnen. Im Pub nebenan kann man sehr lecker und lokal essen und trinken sowie Fußballschauen.

We moved to East Malling 8 months ago, and have embraced village life, the pub is the heartbeat of the tiny village. Wayne and his team are very welcoming and friendly and are the perfect hosts. The food is always delicious lunch or dinner, there is a good selection to pick from. The fire is welcoming in the winter and the garden is perfect in the summer. There are a great choice of beers on offer. The quiz night is always a great evening! They do themed events and live bands too. Would definitely recommend this little gem

Most important - good size car park! Staff were spot on. Can't comment on the rooms because I didn't stay. The place was buzzing, really good atmosphere. Bonus points because they sell Diet Guinness - woo hoo

Visited the King & Queen for the first time for lunch today. They were busy but explained this and looked after us well. Our food was very good and well presented and the staff looked after us well. They also serve Harvey’s Bitter - one of my favourites. We’ll be back!

Nice gardens but the inside is a little dated. It used to be a great pub, but £16 for beer and gin and lemonade is too much.

Love it the menu is a bit more limited than it used to be Pre Covid but they keep 5 or 6 dishes I would gladly eat so I don't care.

Went for lunch. Unfortunately, they didn't have any of the following: Beef, Prawns, and two other things (that I can't remember) as they were awaiting a delivery. The server was very apologetic and was really nice. We had nachos and a steak pudding, which was ok but not what we would have picked if the full menu was available. We will have to try again as this is a lovely pub with a nice atmosphere. It is a lovely location where you look out to the village church. There is ample parking available.

There is plenty of choice on the menu. Ham egg and chips and sea bass meals were good. Service was good. Would use it again.

A great pub with a very perceptive and helpful manager (owner?).He knows the meaning of hospitality. You might want to enquire to check that quiz night isn’t on before travelling as it tends to take all the tables.

We had a wonderful Family Meal, with 17 of us there. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and the service was excellent 👍

Grossly understaffed. Waited 1.5 hours from placing our order to being served and then one meal arrived 10 minutes after the other 5. Two waitresses did their best but were trying to serve a packed restaurant.

We visited for Sunday lunch,bar was busy ,we where greeted at the bar by a female member of staff who was polite and engaging she showed us to our table , straight away and came and took our drinks order . The drinks arrived promptly,and we then gave our order for our food ,we was informed there was only 1 sea bass left and she said the pie was steak and kidney . The food arrived very quickly pipping hot and a variety of different vegetables,my friend had the last sea bass with the roasted vegetables and she said it was the best piece of fish she had eaten ,we all had roast beef we had a thick slice pink in the middle with a lovely gravy ,I commented to the waitress it was the best gravy I had ever had and she said it’s a secret recipe lol . We was asked if we would like a desert and the black board was bought over ,I asked if there was any hot desert and the waitress said you can have them heated up,there wasn’t anything we liked as there was cheesecake and gateaux+ a few others we would of liked a winter pudding like apple crumble or syrup sponge . We asked for the bill and asked if the tip goes to the staff and the waitress replied it did ,the whole place was warm and friendly ,the food was excellent would definitely eat here again .

The manager Wayne could not do enough for you if he tried. We took our two children who are fussy and they worked around everything for them. The food is spot on and the service could not fault. Will be back very soon! Also all the staff are very friendly!!

Had an excellent Sunday Roast today at King & Queen, great portion size with all the trimmings, myself & my partner both had Roast Beef and it was delicious, easily one of the best roast dinners I’ve had in a long time, all staff were very friendly & helpful, will definitely be back soon

Good Pub After Football, Just A Bit Expensive. Up The Malling

Had a shandy on Saturday around 14:00, it was quite busy and a very hot day. They have good range of seating outside with table service if required. £4.90 for the bitter shandy and £6.00 for a Guinness.

Went for dinner this evening and had a lovely meal. The staff were nice and the food delicious. Hubby is a vegetarian and it was nice for him to have a great choice for once and oh boy, the size of the risotto was amazing! So many restaurants seem to think veggie portions can be tiny but not here! We had a great evening, left stuffed and will definitely return. Thank you all.

Music there was quite loud disturbing our meal toilets were nice and I don’t like it how dogs are allowed inside as we had an allergy

Had the most fantastic Sunday roast at the king and queen absolutely delicious with generous helpings, I can honestly say its the best roast I have had (except from my mum's).

Went here weekend before last on a first date. We both had the roast she had the lamb and I had the beef roast, the food was delicious and perfect portion sizes. We sat and ate in the garden which was lovely and well maintained, we were served by a lady called Becks or Becky? She absolutely wonderful, extremely polite and friendly and when I mentioned I'm weird and like mint sauce with my beef she even got me an extra serving of mint sauce! Which I thought was an extremely nice gesture and also shows that the staff actually listen to what you say in conversation, which was amazing and made the visit feel more personal. I would definitely recommend this place for the great food and great service, will definitely be coming back! Many thanks to all for the great afternoon!

Best roast I've ever had at a pub. Delicious range of meats and veg. Portion sizes are excellent as well. The atmosphere is very nice as well, relaxed and friendly. There was a band in the garden the day we went and the music was very good. Toilets are exceptionally clean and pleasant. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. My partner and brother also loved it. We had a large party of 7 friends and we were easily accommodated. I also noticed children present so clearly a child friendly place and also dog friendly as a number of pooches in the pub garden, which is lovely and spacious. I will definitely be back again, and looking forward to trying other things on the menu!

I always feel like reviews should have balance so I think it's only fair I start with the positives. We stayed in their accommodation for one night. They're just three rooms located in a converted barn out the back of the property. The rooms are clean, well presented and reasonably sized with ensuite shower rooms. Check in was easy and straight forward and they were very accommodating about us checking in slightly earlier as well as providing a hairdryer too. It was a lovely touch that a continental breakfast was included consisting of cereal, fruit juice, milk in the fridge for the cereal as well as the usual tea and coffee. The rooms were very warm meaning that we opened the windows as soon as we got in there to help cool it down but it was still unfortunately the same when we returned later that evening. I imagine they're perfect in the winter time. This did not spoil our stay. The following morning as we were sleeping we were woken with someone trying to open our door, not once but twice. The first time was around 630am (it woke my husband up) he then heard them talking outside. It was then tried again about 810am which woke me up as they slammed the door at the bottom of the stairs followed by lots of loud chatter outside our window. It was so lucky we had locked our door as they would have walked straight into our room without our permission. It's the stuff of nightmares being half asleep and someone is trying to get into your room and I truly hope that they don't do this to all of their patrons. Having said this I would stay there again. I just hope they take this feedback on board, have a quiet word with their staff who maybe inadvertently don't realise they're scaring their customers.

Extremely disappointed with our meals. My husband ordered a rare steak which definitely wasn't. My fish was so overcooked. My sons turkey and ham pie was dry. Our starter of a sharing platter of prawns, squid and halumi was so expensive for the size of the portion. Our plates handed out for the starters were dirty and sent back twice.
